DIY Marble Floors (Rental Friendly)... new method!

Mar 23, 2024
Hello guys, welcome back to my channel. Are you wondering why I'm in my kitchen right now on my floor specifically? I mean, well, I should reveal it. Obviously I'm working on my kitchen

floors

. Currently they are not a color that I like. It's not a design I like, brown faux tile laminate sheet is the correct word vinyl, it's like sheet vinyl, but it's just not the best type of design as I made a

friendly

peel and stick tile situation for the tenants in my bathroom, I thought you can do something to combine that, but make it easier, simpler and more elegant, I think.

I also want to try a different

method

for renter

friendly

flooring to peel and stick yesterday. I went out with my husband and we picked up some tiles, yeah, like I was trying to show that it's very heavy. This is what we used before. It's like a Carrera

marble

that peels and sticks. It worked well in the bathroom, so I think we'll use this too. Thanks, those boxes are heavy. I'm going to start. first we put down a special type of material that should not leave a sticky residue, fingers crossed first step we cleaned the floor thank you so when I made this tenant friendly situation in my bathroom beautiful herringbone

marble

design there was placed a vinyl tape.

More Interesting Facts About,

diy marble floors rental friendly new method...

My theory remains that when I lift the tiles and glue them down, the vinyl tabletop comes off the floor. I mean, we'll find out how well it works each time I move in, but for the kitchen, instead of vinyl tape, I'm going to Attach the shower curtains and what I'm going to do is I'm going to leave this and I'm just going to stick it with tape along the edge with masking tape. Duct tape may leave a bit of a residue but at least it's only on the edges so in theory this could work and be a really cheap alternative and also be even easier to remove in case there is any.

A concern. Now my concern with this and this

method

is whether or not you walk on this. not at all with the lines grounded, like it would just crack and move, how will it work when it doesn't actually stick to something that is solid, but I'm going to try it if it works it will be cool, this is how it currently looks. I have a full curtain here, a piece of curtain here and it's taped along all the little edges. Well, apparently you were supposed to place the first tile in the center of the room we marked here.

The first tile should go approximately there. I'm just going to look at whether that's correct or not. Well, in case you're wondering, I could make a little mockup of all the different options for addresses and tiles. I will insert the different options. I just like this one I'm going to do. with most tiles going this way it just made the room look a little bigger and was also more inviting to the space so I'm going with that. I need to stop thinking about it too much. I'm using these spacers. I have an assistant. Hello, okay, one second, there's no space between hello, so this last stack of the row needed to be cut, so we just marked it and cut it, and I think it's going to be perfect. it fits oh what a fit look at that perfect so these are all the tiles I didn't really add to cut too much all the others need to be cut to fit which is fine because it's actually not very difficult to cut these tiles. just mark the top and then they rip so it's not that bad so it's actually the next day and to be honest I wore the same outfit yesterday and the day before the movie this is actually the third day .
I don't know if it's like I'm operating slow or whatever, I'm trying not to push myself too hard to keep my stress levels manageable. I'm going to cut all the edges of the tiles, glue them down and potentially grout them, I'll say that if I did. go-getter type, get things done really fast, type of person, you could probably do this whole project in a day if you started earlier, but that's not me, come with you, this is where I'm cutting things that are pretty good to complete. this little place here that has a super weird shape.
I'm not going to pretend I'm a professional. Well I made a little template here where I cut all the little pieces to fit, put them together and brought them into a bigger piece and then cut out this whole kind of template into one piece, aha, this is the result with this funny angle and neat which I love it and boom it fits perfectly yeah okay so I'm taking a little break and I decided to answer one of the most asked questions about how much my projects cost so for this project specifically I'm going to include the price only because I have the receipts for the other projects.
I'm literally too disorganized because I usually buy things on different days, but for this one I have all the receipts, so for the vinyl tiles I ended up spending 67.20, so for two boxes, the grout was 22.50, the sponge was growth was 280. the spacers were eight dollars and the shower curtains, I bought two of them, three dollars each, at the dollar store. The grand total for the entire tenant kitchen flooring project is a whopping 96, which in my opinion is pretty affordable for under $100. You're welcome, let me know that this time I just placed the last tile and I'm 100% sure of the

rental

. friendly factor of this, I think this will stand up perfectly without any damage, super easy to clean and all we'll have to see in a TBD type situation for the longevity of this should be fine in theory, obviously it's not glued as firmly like for the floor, but in theory I think when we grout it it should essentially become a solid sheet and be like a completely floating floor.
Yes, I use my feet as fingers. The next step will be to apply grout. I am very hot. 85 or something like that in this apartment right now it's very very hot anyway in terms of grout color I'm going to use DeLorean gray which is like this type of gray color previously in the bathroom I used exactly this type of grout , but I used Blank, I didn't seal it, so over time it stained a little bit like a light gray, which I actually preferred, I probably would have made it gray if I knew better and now I know better, so this time we're going to get to gray.
The lemon is going down and I'm having dinner at my mom's house in 45 minutes, actually my sisters, so what I have is some grout float. Did you apply the grout with this and then wipe off the excess with this pretty quickly? Otherwise it will dry out. and stain and be a little harder to remove, sorry for the movement, I'm in a bit of a hurry, let's go abroad, okay, so I'll give you a little preview of what the floor looks like, but I'm not going to step on it yet because I want to make sure the grout dries because I want to know for sure after it dries whether or not the grout will crack when I step on it.
There's a good chance that's possible, so I'm going to give you a sneak peek at the final aesthetic reveal, but tomorrow we'll test if it actually worked completely, there you go, look at it, it looks so good it definitely looks like a professional tile installation job, It was super easy to install. These tiles just have this kind of shape and design to cut edges and everything and it definitely brightens up the entire space. Well, you guys say it's been 24 hours and I've waited for the grout to dry completely. I'm about to step on it. for the first time and see what will happen.
I need to be honest with you. Well, yesterday I told my husband that at least I wasn't sure whether or not the grout would break when I stepped on it, unlike in the bathroom where the tiles were glued to a tape that was glued to the floor, which means that the tiles They were really stuck together firmly. These are not on a shower curtain, which means if you put weight on it, it could sink in more or it could form. on duty, I don't know, my brain couldn't 100% correctly understand how it was going to work once I started grouting it, it's just me sharing my honest question and I guess some of you might have had the same concern or maybe No.
I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm going to share with you what happens when I step on it, will this whole thing break or not? I don't know, let's see how to try a new tenant-friendly method. Sometimes you have to experiment. and be willing to have a potential failure on your hands, but I hope not, let's see. I'm literally stepping on all the joints because I felt like those are the areas that might have been a little raised compared to the center of the pieces, guys, that's right. It looks one hundred percent perfect, there are no cracks anywhere on this, none of the growths are cracked, I can step on it, I can jump on it and everything is fine, which means it's definitely a hit, wow, this looks great, guys, the floor.
It's amazing the fact that you can improve your kitchen

floors

for literally a hundred dollars quite quickly and easily, it doesn't require any specialized skills. I think it's amazing. I think the floor really does a great job of brightening the entire space, making it look cleaner. Sure and I really enjoy it, so I hope you enjoyed this video. I'll see you next week.
