valuable

rare dates that you can find in the set. The Susan B Anthony series doesn't really have any, as there were only four years in which the coins were minted. Instead, they have what are called rare varieties. Varieties are the subtle differences found in a given type of coin that result from the manufacturing or minting process. process using different dies to stamp the coins, the ones you should look out for are the 1979 wide rim variety, the 1979 proof type 2 clear variety, and the 1981 proof type 2 flat variety.

Well, you'll most likely find the 1979 Wide Rim in circulation because the other two are proof coins, meaning they were made specifically for collectors and were never intended for circulation; However, if your grandmother or grandfather ever bought you something like this, you may still have one of those '79 or 1981 proofs in your drawer, so let's start with the two proof coins and then we'll come back to the wide edge of the '79 so that the 1979 proof type 2 with the clear mintmark looks like this, which was certainly a mouthful, so I'm going to break down each part of those The terms mean that 1979, of course, is the year the coin was minted and s is the mint mark indicating that it was minted or produced at the San Francisco Mint.
Proof, as we mentioned, means that the coin was produced specifically for collectors using highly polished dyes that provide the coin has a mirror-like finish like this, but here's the important part, only type 2 coins with what is called The clear mintmark is worth a lot of money. this is a type one with what's called a filled s and this is more of a common coin. the one you want to look for is the clear s that looks like this and what is a coin like that sold for? This example was sold at estate auctions in 1955. It is true that it has a proof grade of 70, meaning it is a flawless and perfect coin, but still a return on your investment of 1955 x thanks Grandma, the type 2 proof of 1981 with the flat s is very similar to the previous example but even rarer and in this case instead of a clear estimate mark it has a flat estimate mark that looks like this and if you thought the last one sold for a lot of money , this 1981 Proof Type 2 with the flats sold for a whopping 5,500 at auction and even if you don't have one that's in perfect 70 Proof condition, you'll still be able to sell it for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars, so those are the two test coins, but let's go back to that one that you may have pulled out of one of those postage stamp machines a long time ago, when it was in your coin jar. waiting for you to watch this video and of course if you're enjoying this video I make videos like this all the time so you better hit that big red subscribe button and while you're down there give me the latest on YouTube solid and spectacular.
That Like button takes only a second and means a lot to me, but now, the wide rim variety from 1979, if you thought the clear and flat varieties were a little subtle, well, you ain't seen nothing yet. Because the fineness in this variety depends on how wide or narrow the border is around the coin, I know we coin collectors are a strange bunch, most 1979 SBA coins were struck with the narrow border, which which makes the wide edge the one to watch out for. and the easiest way to tell which is the wide edge and which is the narrow edge is to see how close or how far the edge is from the date of the coin if you look at a narrow edge variety and a wide edge variety one next to each other.
On the side you can see that the date is almost touching the edge on the wide edge variety and is actually quite far from the edge on the narrow edge variety and check it out - a mint condition 67 plus the 1979 wide edge variety sold in traditional auctions for a whopping 6,500 absolutely wild and honestly this is something you could reasonably expect to find in circulation although of course condition will dictate whether or not you're getting that top dollar in the thousands or if it's just a couple hundred of dollars, but still a couple. one hundred dollars isn't bad for a one dollar coin, earlier in the video I promised I would show you a couple of really unusual sba coins that sold for huge amounts of money at auction, so I'm going to show you two different coins.
Right now, that will blow your mind. I mentioned earlier in the video that the SBA dollar replaced the Eisenhower dollar, but what replaced the SBA dollar, well, the Sacagawea dollar, of course, during that transition year between 1999 and 2000 there were a couple of the early Sacajawea dollars. dollars that were struck in SBA dollar coin flakes, which means you have the design of a Sagagawea dollar struck in that silver colored SBA dollar coin flake. This particular example sold for an absurd $12,075, but it gets even better the other way around. It has also occurred where a SVA dollar was minted on a Sagawea plate and this example sold for an incredible sixteen thousand one hundred dollars.
Of course, there are many other susan b anthony error coins, but that's a topic for a different video now if you're lucky enough to have one of these rare susan b anthony varieties in the back of your underwear drawer, well What are you doing with it?
