to make this brilliant Christmas decoration. I was at the dollar store the other day and picked up a pizza pan and several packages of

to make sure my cups had plenty of shine. I started by dipping each one in clear. glue and then some iridescent glitter. You can also use hot glue around the rim of the cup to hold the Sparkles. Once I shined about 45 cups, I let them sit and dry overnight with the cups all dry. It's time to start putting this together. fun piece. I'm going to use this large Tupperware lid in the middle of the pizza pan to help me keep the cup centered and in line.

This will make it much easier when you place them, to join them all together. I'm going to use a little hot glue on the bottom of one and then glue it to another cup. Hold them for a couple of seconds while the glue dries. I think this works best to keep them in line. I will continue doing this until all the cups are around and attached to the bottom layer with the bottom cups all attached. I want to start weaving some little battery operated lights around the glasses. These lights have a remote control so they are perfect for this project because I can just turn them on and off from anywhere Now that I have the lights weaved in and out of the base layer it's time to add another layer of Cups.

I will continue using hot glue to attach the cups until I have filled the dome. I will also weave the Lights up around the cups as I continue to go when I get to the top of the Dome. I can't fit a whole cup so I cut out the bottom and then it fits perfectly into that last space before. I can hang my Sparkle ball. I want to find a way to hang it that's a little easier, so that's where the pizza pan comes into play. I'm going to sand it well with a sanding sponge to scrape up that stain. surface now I'm going to use some white paint to cover one side and while the paint is still wet I'm going to add the same glitter that I used on the glasses and I'm going to sprinkle it all over the pizza pan once the paint is dry.

It's time to finish my new Sparkle ball, the glitter is glued in place on the tray so I don't have to worry about it falling off and I want to add the battery pack before I add the cups dome, a little glue hot around. The edge of the pan is enough to keep all the cups in place. I'm going to finish this off by just adding a little bead to the back that will allow me to hang it and I'll be back in a moment to We'll show you how pretty and shiny this looks so we're going to start by taking our paper cup and you're going to need your hot glue gun and you're going to want to put a line of hot glue around the bottom of your glass.

We're going to take our thread and we want to cover the bottom edge of the cup, so place it as close to the bottom as possible and we're going to go around the entire bottom of this cup here, so I'm going to keep adding a little bit of glue and putting my thread in it. If you find that the yarn is tightly woven, you can also untangle it a little as you work and simply twist it to open it up a bit. It'll fill it in a little bit better, so we're going to keep putting the thread in and when you go back to the beginning, you want to make sure you fill that little space, so I'm going to go to the right. to where I started with a little bit of glue and then I'm going to twist my thread up to the next layer and we want to do the same thing.
I'm going to put some hot glue around it, right? I need a lot of it and I'm going to put this thread right on top creating a second layer of thread and now I'm back to that seam so I'm going to put a little bit of hot glue in there to hold it down. place I'm not going to cut my string. I want to keep this all in one piece, so I'm going to leave it as is and just keep my twine attached. I want to take a pair of scissors and I want to make seven.
Cut my cup from the top to the thread line and you want to get as close as you can without cutting it, so they're going to be about an inch, a little over an inch in diameter or width and we're going to cut it like this and you want to make sure that there are seven, you need an odd number for this project, so we have a perfect four, so I have my cuts here and now. that I have my cuts, I want to put one more layer of twine around the bottom and that will cover those bottom slots, any of the little cuts that I made on the bottom and now that I'm back to that. back seam again, I'm going to put just a little bit in there to keep it in place and now I want to take my strips and fold them under.
I want to fold them up to the glue line as close as I can. I'm going to open them like this again. I haven't cut the yarn because I want to continue working with the same long piece and now that I have my paper cup open we are going to start weaving our yarn. To turn our cup into a basket, we need to start weaving now that we have these folded pieces, so what we're going to do is start going around and we're going to go over one under the next. above the next below the next, so just like you're knitting, you want to keep going around, one on top, one behind, one on top and then one behind, and you want to keep keeping those tabs down for now.
We'll keep them low and you'll want to keep going in and out around your cup and we'll do it a few times, we'll keep adding more things so you can see the outside here. it's starting to come together, it's starting to weave and again, if you see pink or any color of your cup through the thread, don't worry, we can fix that at the end and move it a little bit so we can I'm going to continue here again, these They are starting to fit together naturally. You can see that my pieces are starting to get closer, so I'm going to cut them out again, so it will be easier to continue working.
Well, when you start to get to the height where you are going to leave it. I'm going to add a little bit of hot glue on the inside just to hold my twine in place, so I'm just going to add a little bit right there and I'm going to put my twine right on that glue and hold it for a second to dry and then I want to trim these extra bits off, so don't worry, we'll cover that little lip in a minute. but you want to try to cut those pieces as close to the thread line as possible, you may need to add a little hot glue on the outside or inside just to hold the thread in place, you want to be very careful not to do that.
It cuts the thread, so you may have to push it down a little bit with your fingers and then cut the paper, so now that we've cut that we want to go ahead and put a couple layers of thread on. around to finish that edge and cover the top, those top pieces of paper, so you can use hot glue, put it around and just put a couple layers of twine to cover that, so I'm going to start with one on the outside. so I'm going to go around with some hot glue, take that same piece of twine, I'm going to wrap it around there again and start going around the outside and I'm going to do it all the way around. around with just a small bead of glue where I started.
I'm going to put another one on top almost creating a top of the basket so this one sits right on top and again you just want a little bit of glue. so it doesn't show through the thread and now that I have the top edge finished, I want to go ahead and put another row on the inside just to cover the top of the paper on the inside and finish this basket. very good on the inside outside, you may have to do two layers on this on the inside depending on the thickness of the thread and then when you get back to where you feel like you started, you can go ahead and slide the thread on. and just make sure it's glued in place, so now on the outside, if there are areas that you feel like you haven't covered, you can go ahead and place them especially on the bottom where we created those grooves.
You can go ahead and Run another piece of twine through there, so let's fill it in and you'll start it here and just fill it in, fill in that seam where we cut and the paper was moving while we were weaving. There are points where you feel that the thread has not covered well. You can always set up the glue gun and add a little glue. You can also move the thread up and down on those pieces to finish them off if needed now. we want to go ahead and create a little handle for our basket, so I'm going to take a piece of wire and I'm going to straighten it out here and I don't want to create a huge handle on this.
I want it to look like both an Easter basket and a little spring basket for something, so I'm going to go ahead and measure my piece here and remember to leave a little bit of um to put on the sides. making sure I have enough to glue it on, so I'm going to cut it out and then I want to cover my piece of wire with my twine as well so my clothes are pretty flexible, it has some kinks, but you're not going to see that once the twine is on top , so I'm going to go ahead and put some glue here.
Now the glue doesn't stick to this very well, but the thread will stick to itself, so I'm just going to put it on. that wraps around the thread and you won't see this little bit because it will be under the rim of the basket and then I can cut my thread and just stick that end into the glue so it's hidden. Okay, so We have our little piece of wire wrapped and wrapped around the twine here and we want to go ahead and put it in our basket so you can decide where you want it and we're just going to bend it to give it a nice curve.
We've got a nice little curve there and then we just want to attach this to the inside of the basket and you can use a little bit of hot glue for this because you won't see the inside if you're going to fill it. but you can put this inside the twine if you don't want to see the end of the basket, sorry the end of the handle is there so I'm going to fill my basket so I don't worry too much. about that, I'm just going to put a bunch of hot glue in here and stick it right inside the rim of the basket.
I'll hold it in place until it dries and then glue the other side onto these sweet little ones. The baskets are so adorable and so much fun to make, all you need is a paper cup and some twine, how fun is it that they are perfect to place in any small space to add a rustic touch.
