More Interesting Facts About,

massive update leaks big new features tesla model 3 model y...

According to multiple independent sources, Tesla is simultaneously working right now on two updates to its most popular cars, which would be the Model 3 and the Model and now the Model 3 debuted in 2017, when it actually officially rolled off the production line and came out. on sale and has since received very few changes, there have been some minor improvements to the interior and exterior design, there have been some downgrades with the removal of the radar and ultrasonic sensors, many changes of course in price throughout of the years, but and big since that car was originally shown at that reveal event until now, it really has remained virtually unchanged, it's a similar story for the

model

and since it debuted and went on sale in 2020, in Actually not much has changed with that car.

Less has changed with the Model Y than with the Model 3. Obviously, the two cars share a lot of the same DNA, they're built on the same type of Gen 2 platform, so when one car gets an update, the other usually follows suit. go on. When we heard all these renewed rumors about the

model

three getting some major upgrades, we assumed that a model y would get those same upgrades and while that's partially true, it's not really the whole story, specifically these reports indicate that the Model 3 is going to get some major improvements to many different aspects of the car and this should be one of the most significant changes, if not the most significant, that this car has basically seen since it debuted several years ago.

The code name here is Project Island, reportedly according to Reuters, Tesla has been working on this updated model for years and lately these models have been leaked again and again. In fact, we've seen them along the way. New hardware is being tested and many are wondering what will really be different here because we had heard all these reports. This is a big design change on the inside, outside of the new hardware, but based on these alleged spy photos, the design here looks more or less the same, so let's take a closer look if these photos actually show the real project.
Highland, then yes. Design The overall design of this car is not going to change drastically, which would make sense given the amount of money, time, research and complexity that Tesla has invested in producing these cars at scale, it was already difficult enough for Tesla to bring the machinery to everything the world. They're fine-tuned enough to pump these cars, so when they make an updated model they don't want to make too many changes that disrupt production, so that's what Tesla seems to be doing, they're making smaller changes. It seems to be different here there are some things in the front and rear because that is where these type of Highland car projects are hidden on the roads and while the design may or may not change, what seems evident is that Tesla is testing some . new hardware, the best guess right now is that these cars are equipped with Hardware 4, which sort of overhauls Tesla's Vision system and will have a lot of new details, a lot of new updates and new cameras, but I'll come back to that in a moment, We also noticed some different Arrow wheels here on at least one of these Highland project cars that have been rolling around town, and while the design might not change, there's a good chance, according to Elon and Tesla's head of design. that we might see some new colors on the all new 3 and why now before we continue let's take a quick break for a moment because I have a big secret that you guys should know if you're a current Tesla.

We've seen some recent alleged

leaks

when shopping at Giga Berlin for photos of a rumored new blue color. for a while, that would replace this metallic blue that we have now with something a little different, and as I mentioned a moment ago, one of the other big changes here on the outside of these cards will be the addition of hardware. four, this is basically Tesla's next generation uh computer system and hardware system for autopilot and full self driving. It runs its vision system which is used for everything from Sentry mode to full autonomous driving and detecting different objects around the car.
It's a really important system in In fact, we've received some major leaks about the hardware over the past few weeks and, according to infamous Tesla hacker Insider Green, the only Tesla already equipping cars with hardware for now that's coming out of the production line and according to another recent leak, it seems that Tesla is now alerting customers that their cars will have new hardware, some features may not be ready yet, but it seems that Hardware 4 is in the works and although It has not been officially announced, it is already being built. and implemented in cars that will be on the roads very soon in terms of what it could change Hardware 4 seems to be a pretty complete change that will affect everything new cameras new sensors new powerful processor everything you will get quite reviewed here so according to these leaks we should have a more powerful processing system.
I just run all of this, we're going to get a new HD radar system that should be coming to these cars which should be really cool for See and then also the number of cameras around the car increased from eight cameras to 11 cameras with an additional port there for possible expansion later and then also the resolution of the cameras increased significantly to provide this Vision. Some better data to work with also worth noting here is that some of these cameras will be on the back of the car, which, according to Green, only means that Tesla now has the hardware capability to do a view of 360 from top to bottom, huh, something like that. see your car, this has been on other cars for years and years as many owners have been very frustrated that Tesla has not added this.
I think there was some kind of hardware limitation why Tesla couldn't do it, but now they have done it. In fact, we just saw on the latest cyber truck prototype at Investor Day that it also has a camera in the front bumper, so a 360-degree top-down view seems likely. the Cyber Truck Model 3 Model and and basically all the hardware for equipped cars very soon, which will really be a very welcome addition now, which is said to be even more interesting and exciting and also much more controversial than they should be changes abroad. the changes happen on the interior because again, according to this original Reuters report, we could see some changes to the screens, they say the infotainment system could be getting an update, maybe a speaker system update and then by Of course, also one of the most controversial changes here is We'll get to the steering wheel and the actions, one of the biggest and most controversial rumors of this update is that Tesla will eliminate the actions, those little dials on each side of the steering wheel and move them all to one Touch-sensitive touch base.
The controls on the steering wheel are somewhat similar to what the yoke does on the Model S and Model X, but it wouldn't be a yoke steering wheel. Tesla could do two things, one is they could give us a steering wheel very similar to the one on the Tesla semi basically it's a regular old round steering wheel with touch sensitive buttons built in or maybe they adopt this new design that we have on the Cyber truck, which is kind of a more square and rectangular steering wheel, it's still a traditional steering wheel and a little bit of a unique shape that again gets rid of the actions and then puts all the controls in this kind of center of the wheel.
We actually got kind of a recent rendering of a concept of what this could look like and I think it does. Really cool, it will take some getting used to and adapting to, but it seems like a very bold design move that Tesla could make and many owners are happy and not so happy about it. What do you think of Tesla? removing the actions, do you think all the things should just live on the steering wheel and be able to do everything contactless while holding the steering wheel or do you wish Tesla would stick with those actions? your thoughts on that and this controversy Down in the comments, another big change that has some owners very happy and some upset is that Tesla, for better or worse, plans to remove the iconic wood trim that has been on the black interior of the Model 3. and the model and from theprinciple and replacing it with a new non-woven fabric material, this should obviously be cheaper to produce, which should make Tesla very happy, make these cars more efficient and cheaper to build and could also make the interior of the The car looks a little more modern and stylish.
Many owners had long complained that the wood looked a little worn and dated, so this new material could be there to freshen things up and also maybe Tesla could offer it in different colors or finishes. to add a new layer of customization for owners so that they basically don't have two options, you know, white or black or whatever. Hopefully there's a little bit of extra glitter here, a little extra layer to make this a little bit. A little more interesting, we've also heard persistent rumors that Tesla could be adding a second screen to the Model 3 and Model Y.
In fact, the new versions of the Model Y in circulation right now, basically since 2022, have a dedicated port on your motherboard. which is labeled for a second screen and again according to Tesla Insider green, the only one that is not like a copy and paste version of the Model S and Model X4. This is a special board for the model and it looks like it was intended to be used for a second screen at some point, but it may not have been ready in time. It didn't happen, but that could be about to change in a new screen that could come to these updated models, of course, the big question is that when Tesla says second screen, what do they mean?
Do they mean a kind of second screen in the driver's seat? similar field of view as there is in the S and screen or are they talking about that rear screen in the back something for the rear passengers to adjust the climate control and have entertainment things and play games and music and things like that, uh, what second screen could we see? We don't have additional details about what we might see, will it come standard? It will be a secondary option for an additional amount of money, we don't know, but there have been persistent rumors that Tesla could add that and if the current type of hardware in cars is something that can explode, it seems that this has been in the works. for a while and it may finally arrive soon, okay that's all we know about these update changes right now, we have some interior and exterior color changes, things like that, but let's answer the big questions you have in mind. mind a couple of times.
One of the questions here is: when can we see these cars? And then, should I buy them now? Should I wait? Are these things worth waiting for? Let me tell you what I would do if I were in your position looking to buy a Tesla right now. So first things first, two different timelines that arrived. Keep in mind that the Model 3 and Model Y, as similar as these cars are, won't actually share the same upgrade production schedule. According to Reuters, we should see the Model 3 refresh coming out of production. line in September 2023, so six months from now is good, I guess a little bit longer, but we should see that kind of uh after the summer, late summer and early fall, we should be having these new models three available to buy for the model Y is a little different because, according to the recent Reuters report that came out just a couple of days ago, these cars would not be ready and rolling off the production line until October. from 2024, so there's a gap of about 13 months, a difference here between the three updated models and the model, which kind of changes the story because my advice will be different depending on the car you're looking to buy, obviously, a of the most important things.
I have to take the price into account. Tesla is known for changing prices on a dime, and one of the risks of waiting for a model for its model means the price could go up or down. Incentives could change things. moving very quickly in this space, that's definitely something to keep in mind, but putting price aside for a moment, what should it do well? If I were looking to buy a Model 3 today, I would think carefully when placing my order. Because these design changes should be significant and should future-proof the car, especially with Hardware 4 and such, you could wait until September if you could to get this car, but with that in mind we've also heard some speculation. that Hardware 4 could be released early and somewhat separate from this update, so perhaps over the next few weeks we could see Hardware 4 roll out to the Model 3 and the Model Y with no design changes and then a design change occurred later.
Coming later this year, it's kind of a gamble that we just don't know any more information about because it looks like the snx already has hardware, but we don't know right now, so if I was going to buy a new one. Tesla and I could wait, especially if I were to buy the model 3. I could wait until September just to see what might happen or at least wait a couple of months to see what would happen and, well, that would be on the model and side. a little bit more difficult story because we're talking about over a year, we're talking about about 18 months until we were able to see that and that's a harder decision to make, something that comes to mind with the model 3 like Well, and I guess my other kind of general advice here is a couple of things, if you need a car now, get a car, you'll be very happy with the Tesla you get today.
Some great features, incentives, there, the price is good, now is not a bad time to buy a Tesla and, for better or worse, you know exactly what you're getting. Yes, you lack radar. You are missing ultrasonic sensors. That is a problem. We'll talk about that in a separate video, but at least you know what you're getting with pricing and features right now. If you need a car, you will find out later, then it is worth waiting for the model. It's tough though, I mean October 2024 being the time and then we all know what Tesla and Elon are like, you know, with timelines, who even knows, so it's a little bit harder to decide.
I would also say that it is better to buy based on the facts and features that we know. at this point of what might or might not happen, so I guess what I'm generally saying here is that if you want the latest and greatest for your Tesla, are looking to keep it for years and years and can expect an upgrade, then I would expect everything you can to see what could change for better or worse, but if you need a car right now, you're set on buying a Tesla, you have financing ready, maybe you're working with a tenant and I'm ready to use this car , then I probably wouldn't wait.
I would order that Tesla. I would be happy with what I have now knowing full well that something is going to change in a couple of months, but I'm not going to allow that. Keep me away from the excitement of my car. I see comments over and over again in my comments section about people saying: Should I buy now? Shall I wait? What's up with this one? Get the car you want right now and enjoy that car. I will love it because things will always change, things will always get better, things will always get worse. I mean, we even know people who waited to update models and somehow removed features in 2023 when Tesla removed ultrasonic sensors, radar and stuff.
So you're taking a risk here either way, but I think if you want a car, get it now, be happy, but if you could wait and you want the latest and greatest, you might have to wait a while, but we know those changes should happen in the next few years or a year and a half or so, depending on the model, as always, although I want to know your opinion on all this. Your opinion on the Project Island project. Juniper. Do you think these Updaters are worth the price? Do you think prices are going to rise?
Lower your opinion on Tesla's changes. Are they changing enough? Aren't they changing enough? Do you have any suggestions on what they should change? Let me know your opinion. in the comments below, as always, I really appreciate you, thank you so much for your support, thank you for the comments, thank you for watching. I'm Robert Rosenfeld and I'll see you all next time.
