How Body Shops get Bondo and Body Lines Perfectly Straight

Today we are going to take a look at hot ass and padding and how to leave it completely

straight

when it is close to the

body

line. The first thing I do is I start with a nice sharp cheese grater like that half turn one and I'm just going to take down the edges because this spreads really fine so we're just going to take the edges off so we don't clog up our sandpaper with this new outer layer of the filler and I'm just knocking it down just removing a little bit of the top layer makes my job a little bit easier, a little less dust.

I'm removing the ridges right now and my

line is right up here so I'll stay away from that sometimes you can make a little one by breaking them so you can reach it a little bit better and I just pulled it like this and I'll do it real slow just removing it. I think it should be good, we let it harden and I. I'll come back and show you the next step. The next step is to use a longboard, but the most important thing is to put a fresh sheet of sandpaper on it so it cuts

I just make nice long strokes with super sharp paper and I just hit my high point right there, real light and I think that's good, let's stop right there. Hit this with 80 grit real quick, grab the masking tape, move the camera and I'll come back only after you have this perfectly straight. Can you work on the body line now that we have it straight? I'm going to place the tape exactly. where it's supposed to be and it looks nice and straight now we'll take the longboard and sand down to that tape line. I'm not going to leave this here and start sanding.

I'll make sure to stay away from that. tape for now, come over here and start putting it up there and you gotta be careful, you don't want to mess up the edge of that tape and I'm still using 40 grit. I might change it to 80 so it's a little bit more careful and I'm going to switch to grit. 80. Now I'm just a block of rubber and I'm trying not to mess up the edge of that tape, but I'm getting really close to it right now and I'm starting to feel it on the block and I'm starting to hit that edge and I think that's it.

Well. I'm going to run this block around the edge of that tape almost spraying that edge and that should be fine, let's pull. this tape and our body line should be perfect, let me have Sandnes apply a coat of primer and you'll see what the finished panel looks like.
