Mar 11, 2024
welcome to episode 4 of Ask Randy, where you ask, I answer, you can submit your questions to ask Randy on my website by clicking that link. I'll also leave a link below so you don't have to click out of this fabulous video. I'm not going to find stupid intros with fancy graphics and stupid music here. I'm just going to get straight to the point. I'm not going to waste your time or insult your intelligence by begging you to subscribe or trying to teach you

what

the bell is. likes so many other desperate YouTube

channels

. I would never do that.
ask randy ep4 what is a fars fcc gmrs license fees fav ham channels girl scouts fcc stickers
I am here simply to provide you with the information you crave. Today's first question comes from be googly be googly. I own the balfang bfh7. I'm studying to get my technician

license

, but. In the meantime, I don't have a

license

, but I only use my balfang bfh7 to scan frequencies and listen to FM radio. Is this practice illegal with a radio that does not have an FCC identification label on the back of the radio? Does that make my radio illegal? Using that is a good question if there is simply no sticker on the back it could just be that someone removed it but it most likely means that the radio is not approved by the FCC for use on any frequency on which can transmit, in that case.

More Interesting Facts About,

ask randy ep4 what is a fars fcc gmrs license fees fav ham channels girl scouts fcc stickers...

It's probably not legal, it probably doesn't meet FCC requirements. You would be violating FCC regulations, not laws, but

what

I don't know is if there should be a label like the label on your mattress. I'll be there so you can use it, which I'm not sure about, so I'll leave this question to the real experts in the comments section. If you know the answer to this question, leave a comment below. xenu help us all the following question comes from several people asking in different ways but basically the question is Randy what is your favorite ham radio or

gmrs

radio youtube channel to watch?
ask randy ep4 what is a fars fcc gmrs license fees fav ham channels girl scouts fcc stickers
I don't really have a favorite

gmrs

channel, there aren't that many people dumb enough to have one. gmrs are just

channels

, what kind of idiot would do that? But when I need to learn something there are a couple of channels that I watch and refer to often, they do mostly ham radio stuff but they also do some gmrs stuff. My first favorite would be josh ham radio crash course, he does mostly ham radio stuff, some gmrs stuff and second would be jason ham radio 2.0. They are both the only two ham radio related channels that I can watch for more than 30 seconds without dying of boredom.

Both are informative, both are able to convey information without boring us to death. Radio crash course josh ham lives very close to me. In fact, I have contacted him several times. I left comments on some of the videos of him saying, "Hi, me." We have offered to take it off-road. We will make some comparisons between the types of hams and gmrs in the mountains. We will venture. He doesn't seem interested. I think he's afraid I might be mean to him if you want to see the non-Rubicon. Meet up with the ham crash course, if you're familiar with his channel, leave a comment on one of his videos or send him an email and say, "Hey, you want to see the two of us together." It can be fun.
The next question also comes. from several people basically asking me what a

fars

is in several of my videos when i do reviews or comparisons of radios or antennas i often mention how many

fars

it speaks some people don't understand what a fars is it's a complicated technical term now a viewer a support viewer scott hayes is a supporter of the paid channel support the channel by clicking the join button below scott hayes has already answered this question in several comments when other people ask what is far so let me read his definition which defines clearly what is a fars fars f-a-r-s noun undescribed distance of measurement that has little or no real relationship due to the variables innately ingrained in the suffering of the test I think that perfectly defines what afar is next question comes from chuck h my wife is

girl

scout troop leader i am thinking about getting a gmrs troop license.
We want to teach

girl

s about ham radio gmrs mers and CB radio. We will most likely use gmrs on hikes and camping. How can we achieve this and can we achieve it for free? Well Chuck, thanks for your question under the newest FCC guidelines gmrs licenses are issued only to individuals, they no longer offer a gmrs commercial license or a group license so anyone broadcasting on a gmrs radio would have to have your own individual license, you can get an fcc license for 501c non profit use, but that is not good for gmrs, it is a commercial type license and you need a certain type of business, type lmr, a radio other than gmrs to use that license so for gmrs nothing is free you won't go for free license there is no group license you can get something that I know of course if I'm wrong trust me someone will leave a comment to below but it seems like frs or mers might be a better option because they are free license and free use of our radio waves jim wants to know what gmrs means jim this requires a two part answer the first part is the general mobile radio service the second part is google jim kunkel kunkel asks if his index fingers are disproportionately smaller than the other fingers or is it a camera illusion I never really thought about that jim I don't know what you think look closely the next question comes from several people and they all ask one way or another what do you know about the new high power midland radios that are about to appear, do you know anything about them?
Yes, I know a lot about the new unreleased midland radios. I know how well they work. I know how far they can transmit. I know all its specifications. I know how. they feel in my hands and how they fit in my jeep and I know I can't talk about them yet so keep watching the next question is from christian christian question I would love to have a transceiver on board my sailboat to be able to reach far at all the bands, possibly receiving weather data on my laptop without an Internet connection and, in a pinch, calling Christian, that's more of a statement than a question that Travis Gibson is asking.
Does using privacy codes reduce radio performance? communications to transmit and receive in a wooded area first, travis don't fall for the big gmrs radio conspiracy lies the privacy codes are not private in any way watch that video if you want to learn more about exactly why privacy codes are not private, but if you understand all the risks of using privacy codes and want to use them anyway. I don't think they affect your transmission in any way. The codes are a small silent tone that is inserted at or above or below. I don't know everything. the technical specifications because I don't care, but they are transmitted along with your voice, so there is a small chance that they are taking up a small informational portion of the bandwidth, so I'm sure some people might say yes.
It affects transmission performance at point zero zero zero zero zero two five one zero percent, but in the real world, when someone uses human ears and talks to another human being, I don't think it's going to affect anything. Ken Rowlandson asks what license do I need? to use the retivus rt29 for normal non-emergency use, I apologize if I missed it in the existing comments but I didn't see it in my retivus rt29 review video. I explained this clearly more than once, but this is what you ask, I answer, so you ask. You will answer that the rt29 requires an amateur license and you can only transmit on amateur bands on that radio with your amateur license, which means you will not be able to transmit on gmrs or frs frequencies even if you have a gmrs license without violating the fcc. regulations regulations not laws I'm going to make a video right after I make my broadband versus band video.
I'm going to make a video about the difference between FCC regulations and laws, what really happens if you break those regulations, so use your rt29. You will need an amateur radio license and must transmit only on the amateur radio bands. You can also use a commercial license and transmit on your pre-assigned frequencies, but most people would use an amateur radio license. Dustin C asks. I have been waiting. the wookson ocean kg935g will be back in stock do you have any idea when that will be? I need to buy a new radio for work ASAP and I really don't want to settle for a different radio.
Dustin. I've said this 100 times in other videos. and in the comments answering the question from people who have asked the same question hundreds of times, but this is what you ask, I answer, so I guess now it will be 101 times if you want to get a kg 935 or any Wookson radio that currently not available. There are many in stock, many of the gmrs radios are very popular and hard to get and they are not in stock because as soon as some clown makes a video review of them they are immediately sold out, the trick is not to. wait until it says it's in stock to buy it, if you do you'll never get one.
You will be the last to get one. Go to the b2a radios.com website or the Bettersaferadio.com website, depending on the radio you are pre-purchasing. If you order it, you may still have to wait, but that guarantees that when the next batch of radios arrives, you'll get yours because if you're waiting, everyone else will get theirs and it'll be out of stock again, and if you wait until it says "in stocks, you will never get a daniel mahoney question my surveying eliminates cell phone use I am disabled and having a second way to contact the assistant seems to be prudent I would like to know if investing in this technology would provide me usable means to ask for help.
I have the feeling that since my isolated location may be a dead zone, it would be beneficial or financially realistic to invest in this technology. Daniel, listen to me, GMR is in the UHF band, it is high frequency between 462 and 467 megahertz. The uhf range is a line of sight band meaning radio waves and electricity don't go around anything, don't go through much, will go through some walls, can't go through mountains, can't go through. thick forest is line of sight, which means that to talk to something you have to be able to see it now, it doesn't mean it has to be close enough for you to see it.
I can talk to a repeater, for example, which 69 miles away I can't see at 69 miles I can't see the repeater but I do have binoculars because there is nothing between it and I can transmit to it so if you can see it if there is nothing between you and him and whether he is a repeater or someone else you can talk to him if there is a mountain between you or if you meet him again even if you don't see him because he is too far away if there is a mountain there you are not going to talk through him or around him if you can see him you can talk to him ron jarvis ron jarvis asks the output power of the repeater on the antenna the gmrs output is 50 watts eiri your antenna has a gain of 6.5 db coax at 100 feet with a loss of 3 db duplexer loss 2.0 gives eirp of 63 watts or more if the manufacturer's antenna gain is really db and not dbi, can you talk about this in one of your videos?
Yes, I just used the Hillbilly Jeeper wv call sign tag and now you have written an example of talking on the radio that Steve Wrme says. Blah blah blah come in Cindy so Steve calls Cindy Roger Beep. He has his Roger Beep in Cindy responding. The roger beeps from him, so can we communicate for up to 15 minutes before each of us has to repeat the call sign? Is this the correct radio label? Mr. WV. There is no real label in GMR. It is made for people to talk to other people in real human English. or whatever language you choose, but the rules say there are no laws, the rules do say that when you transmit you must identify yourself and if you are in a long conversation, like with Cindy, you must also stop an identification at least once every 15 minutes and then at the end of your broadcasts so identify it first blah blah blah for 15 minutes identify yourself again blah blah blah 15 more minutes identify yourself again or blah blah and then stop your conversation and identify yourself again those are the rules or regulations not laws that are the rules Say it, I think you got it right, the next question comes from Brad Saunders, Sander Saunders, Hello, I stumbled upon the content on your YouTube channel and I love it, of course I do, Brad, I'm a new aspiring radio ham , red flag number one. and I have some questions, actually a lot of questions, but I'll keep them to a minimum for now.
I should mention that I am an electrician and totally understand electricity. You haven't seen many of my videos. Brad Rob D asks questions about uv5r I ordered two of these and programmed them with chirp. I can get sad ham bands to transmit between the two, but I can't transmit gmrs channels between the two units. Any ideas. Yes, I have some ideas. The uv5r is a ham radio that is now in the old one. Days before May or June 2021, baofengmufwang didn't exactly follow FCC guidelines and regulations, not the laws regarding manufacturer and radio restrictions, so in the old days, on pre-2021 uv-5r radios, you could transmit on any frequency you If you wanted manual bands merge bands gmrs frs weather channel you could transmit on any frequency and the FCC didn't like that so a couple of years ago the FCC sent Baofeng a very worded letter reminding them of the regulations and requirements for selling radios in the United States and just after two or three years of Baofeng started making their radios to comply with FCC regulations, not laws, so all the newer baofeng uv-5rs comply with those rules, they won't let you the radio does not do it. it allows you to break the rules so you cant transmit on gmrs its a ham radio you can only transmit on amateur bands if you are using a newer uv5r jimmy wants to know i want to buy the uv5r to listen to how can i listen to frequencies in my local area like you? mygmrs.com radioreference.com.
Those two websites will give you all the frequencies there are to listen to in your area. Herbert Powell and about a hundred other people have submitted the same question via ask Randy uh on the web forum or in comments or emails frequently. This is the most frequently asked question in the history of history. When are they reducing the GMR license fee? Our government reduced the GMR

fees

for those who do it and don't know the gmrs license fee has always been 70 at the FCC congress everyone got together and lowered the price to 35 it was passed by congress o who approved it last year a year ago and it was implemented or adopted or however you say that the Governments were used to that it was already approved that the last step was approved by the FCC in April.
It is done. The new legal license fee for the GMR license is 35, it's a done deal, but if you go to the FCC website and purchase your GMR license today. it still costs you 70, so the question is when the real price drop takes effect. It's legal, it's done, it's approved. When will it happen? Nobody knows, but I have an inside source that no other YouTuber has, so let's see what it says, when does the FCC really? lower the price of the gmrs license and here is the answer the course of history shows that as the government grows freedom decreases the next question comes from the vijante vegement vigante veggie what do you do with all those radios that companies send you to review? to send them back or you can sell them to people who would like a special open box box, since you can see that most of the radios go on the radio jenga wall back there, but what you don't see is that a lot of Those boxes are empty because most of the radios I receive, one or two, I can keep as my favorites, but the vast majority of them, when the manufacturers send them to me, are mine to keep.
That's how it is with all of us, the great social media influencers. the manufacturers basically send it to us as payment for us to review it and get an honest review, although we all know that some youtubers don't actually do honest reviews because they don't want to damage that relationship to get free stuff, they know that when I review. If it's a piece of trash I'm going to say it's a piece of trash so when they ship them they will be mine to keep most of the radios that I end up giving away to the people in the small local gmrs group we have and the others just I donate them, I send them to a place in New Jersey, they help the homeless and they have people in the field and they use gmrs radios to communicate so I have sent them several handheld devices and mobile radios so the answer is me. keep some, I'll give you some, well kids, that's all the time we have today, if you have any questions about the questions that were asked or my answers, leave them.
