modes

, that way you can start making your way through the Shire faster than you can say Buckleberry Fairy Hey kids, I'm your good friend Uncle Ben, in today's video.

of the key of G because after all you can't spell

guitar

without G, these are great to use while playing because they are really easy to visualize and they're a lot less difficult to memorize on some of those big six-string scale patterns that we all see and that's especially important for those of you who like the old long bottom sheet or the old Toby like me, as always. The video is brought to you by everyone who supports my channel on my Patreon page.

Now we're going to make you scream and wail through modes like the Ringwraiths of old, first things first. I have to post a little disclaimer here. This is a lesson on shape patterns. This is not a lesson on Harmony, which is really what makes the modes. Thrive modes are much more than just scaling shapes. Just because you're moving the fingers of your hand through a particular scale pattern that was labeled foran doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to sound all the exotic and fril shyry and stuff you want to sound like one of these days. So, like I said, here we're going to be in the G major scale, which means we're going to use the notes G a B C D E F and G. We'll take each of those seven notes right there and use them to start a particular topic. scale that I'm going to show you guys as we go along here, let's start here talking about G. Now the scale that's attached to this is the Ionian mode, which is the same as the major scale, so that's how we're going to play it. with this 3+4 scale pattern setup it's very easy to see which one is correct, you have that big stretch here starting on the low E string and then after that last note it just goes up a step.
The nice thing about arranging the notes this way is when you play it like 3 + 4, that's the full scale which is the seven notes g a b c d e f now the nice thing is that you can copy and paste that two string pattern that you just

learn

ed and that just start from this G note which is right in the neighborhood of Anyway, where you just left off, your index finger is now right here on the D string, which is a G note the same as the one you started with, so you can copy and paste exactly the same idea just starting from that G note.
Check it with exactly the same way. The same seven notes now from this position you can find your G note again on the B string, this time at the number eight fret, copy and paste that same shape so that you have only played a two string shape three times in a row starting from different G and then right next to it is your root note G again up there. This is a great way to learn all the scales because it will help you find root notes all over the board and not just get stuck thinking about the low E string as a starting point.
The good thing about a lot of

guitar

ists is that they cover a lot of Sonic territory. You know, if you compare it to a three note per string form of scale that only goes up to C, but we're going up to that root note G again here, so it covers a lot of range now let's move on to the second note of the scale, the note a, the second note has the Dorian mode attached to it and our three plus for the scale shape looks like this, which is the seven notes of the Dorian scale now, that will put you right here on one note or we can copy and paste the same idea from there, put it on top of this one note on the B FR string, the number 10 and again you have your high root note is right above it, right after this, we'll get to the third note, the B, this is where the figan mode, it's always on the third note and it will look like this, here's your next B note, here's your next B note and your high B root note on top, after this, you can go to C note here , which is the fourth note of the scale.
This is where the Mr Lydian mode goes, which is the prettiest mode in the whole Shire, as it looks and sounds. this after that copy and paste from this C note after that go to this C note 13th fret on the B string then you have your high C root note up after this we are up to the D note the fifth note of the scale this is where goes the mighty mixian and it will look like this here is the next note D same way let's go to this note D a little jump this time because of that string B same way note D high up Fill in then let's go to the sixth note of the scale, which is and we find that here at the 12th fret on the low E string, this is where we're going to put the aolan mode.
You can also call it a minor scale. Don't say it's late for the second breakfast, am I right? Anyway, the shape of that one will look like this next note D next note D of course you have that e up up you have a 24 freder like me after this we get to the seventh mode, which is the FP location mode, it's not exactly the prettiest here, but still worth learning. This is what it looks like, it starts from F, we're going to have this shape next, F and then after this the high final F, if you can lean into it and keep in mind that if you're playing an adult guitar that doesn't it has so many frets, you can always put that octave lower, so down here in this FP note will help you learn the board better.
Anyway, it looks like this. I'm going to play the seven again with their respective chords in the background. That way you can really hear the harmony of these things, like I said, it's not enough to just know the way you have to know. what's playing to make it sound like it's supposed to, so I'm going to play all these backing chords. I'll put them on the screen as we go and start here with G ionian over a G major chord. Dorian on an A minor chord B Fran on B minor C lydian on C major D mixian D major e aolan on E minor and finally F locan on an F diminished chord and that creates seven forms for the modes that above all They long for Melody, so there are Guys, take a deep journey into the minds of Modia here with your good friend Uncle Ben, like I said, those are just a few ways, do with them what you want, there are many things you can do with these bad laries and I'm going to show you.
