I can scan ANYTHING - EinScan Pro 2X V2

Jun 14, 2024
Oh, what I like most has happened. I am convinced that I was able to convince an industrial company to send me a new and very expensive toy. I mean a tool. This thing here is the Ein

scan

Pro 2x V2 and it will allow us to

scan

things in 3D so well. we could scan before it was a big pain in the air, this makes it a lot easier because of the way it doesn't come in this box, we put it in this just to make sure it stays secure when we move it between sets and stuff, the first thing we got here was not the scanner itself but the fastest laptop we could find because the system requirements for this are off the charts it is recommended to have a minimum of 32 GB of RAM and i78700 and a 1060 now we have It's far surpassed that this one here has 64 GB of RAM.

I think a 3080 or something like that anyway, this is incredibly fast because it uses so much RAM that it actually stores the entire model as a Point Cloud while scanning your system's RAM, which goes very fast and works great if you have a computer like this and not so much if your computer is a little more like this. It's done with brilliant 3D, they do a lot. of different scanners, but we think the Ein scan Pro 2X is probably the sweet spot where you can get cheaper scanners, but from our experience those are a bit nuts, they're a bit difficult to use, they're not as fast as my 3D scanner personal favorite, these guys here and some 3D modeling they said, although it took me about 5 minutes to learn how to use this and already it's incredibly quick and easy.

More Interesting Facts About,

I love it, also in the box, we get this. Right here, which is paired with this guy, right here, this is a calibration plate so we can make sure that whenever we 3D scan things, it's going to be really nice and accurate. We have a fsp switching power adapter. This guy here is. good for 60 WS delivered over a barrel connector and also a little phone holder so if you want to mount your phone on this guy here you can do that so you don't have to look at your laptop to see how the scan is doing. coming in and finally here we have some markers, these things are for when you have, for example, a really big flat surface, like the back of a computer case, you can put a bunch of markers on it so your 3D scan doesn't get lost. is if you have something that has a ton of features like Buzz Light, you're here, you can see it pretty easily, okay, that's there as you go, it tracks this point and makes sure everything lines up from frame to frame. other. whereas if you just have a big, flat object it can be a lot harder for you to determine where exactly it is, when you use these markers to get power and data into the scan, they actually have this really interesting way of doing it.

If you look at the USB cable, it's both a USB cable and a power cable, so it plugs into your computer right there and then we have your Barrel Jack that plugs in right there and now okay, let's do another calibration. partially just so you can see it, we did a calibration yesterday, but also when environments change and lighting and things like that, it's better to just do another calibration and that way you know everything is working well and it's also very fast. Let's go in right here. I'm just pointing the square at the point in the middle and now we're good.

Now I need to take it and, as shown on the screen, attach it to this exactly like this now. We'll just do that again, hit the play button at the top and zoom out a little bit. Now we turn 90 °. Let's do that again four times. Now we have three options for scans here. The first is the fixed scan. Now we have the turntable on the way, which is great if you want to very accurately 3D scan a small model, but at the same time, if we have a small model, I'll probably just put it in the Luma field and do it.
That way most people don't cross shop between scans and Luma Fields, but we have both, since we are not doing a fixed scan we can choose between HD scans or quick scans, the main difference is that the HD scan will be a scan. at 10 FPS, while fast is at 30, you sacrifice some of your details by doing the fast scan, but that's what we're going to do now. Name Buzz Lighty here. I was asking how we want to do our power on mode. That's how he figures out from frame to frame what those different images become, like 2D, in 3D.
As you move around, the markers that we showed before are more for big flat surfaces, but Buzzl Lightyear has a lot of little features, so we're just going to use that, I think the medium resolution is fine, it's 1mm, but If we want to go down to 2 millimeters, we can do it, but we're going to go quickly, here we have our good scan. platform here here is a Home Depot bucket covered in dutin can Chuck Buzz right at the top here and there's just one more thing we have to do before we can start our scan.

Okay, let's start scanning. Oh, this thing works great. I'm basically painting Buzz and now I go around him checking that the scan is working there. One thing that happens from time to time is that if I walk away from it, the tracking will be lost and what this particular scanner is really good at is getting its tracking back on the rice SP, look right there, it just comes back To appear. And starting again, I've had a lot of problems in the past with other scanners where, if you just go and lose some tracking, when you turn it back on, it'll start adding stuff in the completely wrong place, which really isn't great.
What you guys might be noticing is that he's having trouble lifting his belt right here because he's black. 3D scanners don't really like things that are super dark or super bright because they use cameras to determine where things are and if the camera doesn't see

anything

, it doesn't scan it. Also if we get too close you'll see it turn red and if we get too far away it turns blue so it's really nice to have an indicator here that I'm the right distance when it's green we just continue to go around Buzz. We're almost done here and I think that's the best thing we're going to do right now, before we move on.
I just want to get rid of it. of some trash, so we got some from our Home Depot bucket. Bye, I just shift-click to select things. Bye, you know, you don't have to get rid of things right now. You can do it later, but it's just a little bit easier if you don't even have to worry about post-processing, you can just delete all of that. I accidentally selected some of my actual models so I could control, click Circle to bring it back, and now delete the stuff I don't want. I want and I think we are fine.
I'm going to hit Generate Point Clouds and it should look a lot better now. I just need to select between waterless models and airtight models, so that's just the difference between filling in these areas where I didn't scan

anything

at all, we're just going to go waterproof and see how well it works, that's pretty good given that We did it very quickly and well. I wasn't even paying attention to the scan I was doing. attention to the presentation, this is a very useful model, look at it, just look at Buzzy Buzz, it looks cool, now we can save it here.
I'm going to make an STL and you can open it in Solid Works or Fusion 360. or whatever 3D modeling software you prefer, the next thing we want to scan is this PC case, as we talked about earlier, the things that are shiny and the things that are black can cause problems and as you can see things are bright or black, so we need to do a little bit to avoid that, the first thing we're going to do is place markers. Now you want to place them, not in a pattern, they're supposed to be organized in a way that they just exist there if having them in specific patterns can get confusing like, oh, is it this pattern of four or that pattern of four or that pattern of four?
Don't do that, just make them completely random and you'll be much happier now that we've given our case, the chickenpox case, we can go and get rid of those dark, bright areas using this stuff here which is a scanning spray, if you want you can use chalk or your feet smell like dust or things like that but the good thing about it is that it disappears automatically it just evaporates after a couple of hours how good it is for you I don't know but it smells pretty bad , there we go, well, let's see how well it works.
I tried it yesterday. no markers and no spray and it just didn't work which is expected one thing to keep in mind is you want to get as perpendicular as possible you want to scan your stuff this way you don't want to do it like this well we're scanning this just with some basic speeds and feeds, so this right here is accurate down to 0.045mm, which is really small. It also has a volumetric ACC accuracy of 0.3 mm per meter with marker alignment. and right now it's scanning at 10 FPS, although before we did 30. One thing you may have noticed is that we're only capturing 3D data and no textures, but that's an option if you want, there's a texture update and that just goes in here As you can see there's a little USB header so you plug the camera in there it locks and then you can do it in full color and get those nice textures on your 3D models straight from the scan although in most cases it's partly , we're not too worried about that, what we want to do is get computer cases like this working solidly as quickly as possible so we can do crazy things.
We will finish the scan of the computer case. Then it's taking quite a bit of time and I want to move on to other things, as you can see here, although we saw him in the post and he did a fantastic job. Good job. Justin, thanks for doing that. Speaking of Justin, he's the one who really pushed it. so we get the Ein scan Pro 2x specifically, he's used it in the past as a prop maker to scan a bunch of famous people like Nick Cage, Rita Jones and I'll be joining him in scanning famous people.
Belle tops here I'm glad my mustache is captured in 3D if it tells you I'm too dark it's RAC just look it works really really well on people they have so many unique features we can surround them here and if you're like a prop maker or someone So, this can be incredibly useful to be able to 3D scan someone and make sure you have a near perfect 3D model so you can print prosthetics and things like that to make everyone look weird or nice. I guess if you want, Bella would definitely be in a horror movie, although she's actually super fast at scanning people.
This is the easiest scan I've done so far. Oh, I need to get the top. from his head feeling that peak there this weird feeling but mhm well I think that's good, it looks, it looks, yeah, it's definitely not something you want to do if you're one with epilepsy, but look at that bell we have right there, ah . I can't wait for my uh, my deepfake what are you going to do with that mesh model, airtight quality, high quality, only the highest quality for Bell, that's actually pretty good, given how quick and dirty the scan was, we have done an excellent work, I think there are some points that I clearly missed, like I didn't get right under his cap and I didn't realize that I missed a little bit of the top, but at the same time it very clearly had the LT logo.
At the top we get here, all of this should be really precise, so if we wanted to make something to put on Bella's head or something, we could do iteasily because of how fast it was. I think this scan is really good. Now we can do it. We 3D printed a bunch of mini bells and threw them around the office. It's going to be fantastic, we have so many things planned for this right here. I can't wait to 3D scan the back of Pl's car and just do some stuff. Stupid stuff, if you mean put a subwoofer in an awkward spot in your trunk, you can scan it with this and make sure it fits.
Well and perfectly, we're going to scan lots and lots of computer cases with this to make sure we can modify it personalized in ways that are truly perfect and I'm amazed at how easy this is. is to use it now, it's expensive, this right here is about $5,000, which is not cheap, but at the same time, in the past I've used the cheap ones and I've always found them to be worse than not having a 3D scanner, so It's a weird price jump between using your iPhone and a pair of calipers and then going straight to this guy here and oh my gosh this works really well and I can't wait to scan everything in 3D or CT. scan it, we have both now, we are going to have some amazing projects for you in the near future, just like you viewer, you are amazing, thank you so much for watching, hit, like, subscribe and I really hope that garbage truck stops make so much noise.
I didn't see you later
