I think, oh, 17 gallons of gas on the ground, we'll ignore that step one: bend everything you can find, how to get the vehicle up in the air, you need it in your teeth or at least enough to get your hood up here. The good thing is that these old cars have a frame like a mobile home and I'm not a kit, don't believe me, slide a piece of your plinth off and look under it right there. look under this Packard, I told you what, hello, it's my time, what just happened, huh, look at this muffler.

Things are longer than Charlie Sheen's criminal record, Annie was up there, who looks at this frame, she is x-stop, boxed and crossed. and other things and there are things also caught and look what I was talking about, yes, definitely, the frame looks very good, it has a leak in the sprocket seal, so let's pretend we didn't see that at all, definitely not put that on the list, bring our attention back to this, so it will be full of rust and rot, try to get a blood there, cut blood, up here, cut boop boop, more HPS, better sound, yeah, right, right, squares security, the biggest cross-eyed ones.

How about I cut from this direction? I can't go up there. We have to bow Isaac. Everything's fine. Oh, I could hear my hair. Okay, here we go. Oh wow, for crying in the mud. I had never seen anything like it. exploded even if it is not a big turbulent ski muffler. I know what you're thinking. Where do I get the precision and speed? This is years of practice. No, there's rust on my eardrum. The good news is that the muffler is outside. I'm just wondering if I should cut the exhaust pipe, okay, you convinced me to get it later, with the muffler, then look at this, it's a Midas US patent from 1839, I don't know what that says, it's really old going down By bay four, oh yeah, it's still just me. there we go whoa, okay let's turn it on, look what we have now, okay, your trips, pretty sure, oh yeah, that's what we needed.
Foreigner, that's bad, I mean, the guy can hear it, but it's not unpleasant, it doesn't sound like a grain truck. Alright, custom escape, boop boop, get that off the checklist I don't have. Listen to Fellers and Steaks. I've done this hundreds and hundreds of times and it's not like a humble brag or anything. I'm just telling you to learn from my mistakes if you're on a tight

budget

and want to make a big difference with your hot rod or project, don't put a chrome air filter on it or a boom boom stereo system, okay, the biggest change you're going to make. to do what makes or breaks a vehicle are the tires and wheels 99.236749887 repeating percentage of the time that's where we go next now some of you may not have a hot credit card or some gift cards or cash on stock buy a set of wheels and I get it I've been there plenty of times so I'm going to show you a trick where you can get just some steel wheels or I'm going to show you here in a minute what I chose for this which is just some steel wheels too slightly cheap. different, although let's break this down a couple first, of course, everyone is different when

build

ing a rigged vehicle, we all have our opinions and that's great, you've probably noticed, although especially with the 50's cars, it really me.
I like it pretty consistent, although I try to do it. It's built differently every time, look and that's what you know, we're going to fistfight or this guy is going to rob the Quickies Mart or we drag racing, you know it's a bandit car, you're just confused, the guy doesn't he knows it well. What's happening and that's the look I want to give it. It was clearly a mid-luxury car from the '50s, but I want to add some oomph to it to make it look like a hot rod, so I'll show you a couple of ways to do it.
What is the reason why that side is so much heavier? I don't ask, no one answers, that's typical kid, this floor is getting dirty, bolts, not nuts, that's the sign of quality, yeah, okay, little devil, I'll tear this tire up, loose, quick conqueror, Addison, sure, thank you. Ok, we're talking about Craigslist wheel re

build

s, which I've done a lot of. Listen, if you really don't care, don't even take them out of the car. Just make sure that if you are good at your job, you can do the same. old card trick, you take 14 hours and put a bunch of cards over here and make them fly, that will work, but listen, you just wasted a good deck of cards, you probably could have won 48 dollars at poker that night, especially if he invites that friend over he just can't understand it, you always overspray him and most importantly when you do the card trick you can't paint the edge or rim of the wheel down here you miss it no matter how .
You try really hard and you could stick license plates in here and cardboard whatever you want with the wheel, hit it sure, that's how I do it, I remove the bead on the front, you don't need a tire machine to do it, take it out the valve stem. walk on the tire Boop done Hammer whatever take it out that's what I'm saying there's a big garbage bag with this one put it over the wheel sure it's centered it's right there from the side of the hub to the edge of the wheel we're going to cut don't even take that out of here make it go hey we have a circle take that circle and you're going to work it like this now your wheel is like it's in the barber shop and you're going to top spray on nothing you can put that paint up the trim here, no overspray either, make it now black, in my opinion is the way to go on this deck, one could argue silver, some might even say bright red, I guess it's whatever.
You like it, but this is just an example and I'll show it to you here in a second, but it's a great way to get full coverage on your wheel, cheap, easy and professional rebuild. I mean, I lost the receipts, but this thing is covered in dust, you know? What I mean is, what I'm talking about is that you can go all the way, of course, I may have missed a couple of areas, but then when you're done, Kaboom puts some air back into it. New powder coated wheel. Well, that's one way, but this is the route I'm going.
I have these shiny black shakes, they're kind of what is it? This double drilling pattern should fit an offset that will be tight, but should fill the wheel wells. They look much better and come with free poverty limits, so they will look like this. I'm going to go back. I bought some rims that I bought for a different project and ended up not using. This is a perfect moment. for that and of course they are lighter white, okay, I need this here, right? I just can't beat an old set of Cooper goats, that's what I'm going to use now, there are tremendously cheaper rims I just bought.
They didn't use these for a different project, but in the books they are already discounted from that platform, so for this one they are a free thing, you know what I mean, but go to the Evil Bay or Jungle website and put your tire on. size on order by the cheapest first boom, pick up a set there and you know, whatever you're looking for, I get it. I don't know, just keep in mind that the wider it is, the more expensive they will get. I'll tell you right now. Okay, time to put them together I guess this one, yeah, maybe so, I think so.
Okay, well, um boom, oh yeah, get the overseas poverty cup, that looks good. A much better guy doesn't even have it on the ground yet or it seems. 58 million percent we better go ahead and fight the other three in a fiscus royale because, well, the tires are too narrow for the wheels, but we're trying to use what we can around here, so let me fight these others three. I'm going to put it back on all fours, we'll see what this thing looks like, it's going to look really good, oh the tires and wheels and pocket covers are on and we'll talk about a transformation, it's completely changed this car from a sleepy old man, you know, going into town.
Grandpa rig, looks a bit jaunty, more of a muscle car Hot Rod, which is exactly what we're looking for and now I'm looking at The Stance. I have some ideas there too, we're not done on the transformation front either. We still have to deal with the paint, but I think I've decided to go ahead and let it sit overnight and dry completely. I still see water dripping from the trim and stuff and I'm trying to chase it down. with air and I'm making a mess, so I think I'm going to let it sit and dry, no need to rush, we'll come back, finish the painting.
I'm thinking we could even lower the front end a little I don't know let me know what you guys think okay it's time to clean Packard's back in the shop here it's dry I started recording it actually I'll get to that in a minute, but I wanted to talk. about the gloss and why we're making these products and there's going to be a lot of questions so let's try to figure out some of this first of all, why this product, why I'm doing it right if you've seen Vice Grip. garage more than once you guys know that I love helping people, it's what I like the most and since the beginning of the channel it's been tips, tricks, shortcuts,

budget

ways of doing things and quick ways of doing things because simply like helping people and that progressed into a homemade way of making the patina shine and pop and that's that kind of mix that I shared several times on the channel, we were quite successful and that led to thousands and thousands. thousands of emails of "hey I'm mixing this right" and what those ingredients were and why it's so sticky "I'm doing it right" and "can I put it in this" and it just blew up our inbox so I stopped showing it because we could I didn't answer all these queries about it and that led us to we should recreate the glitter juice and something that we could sell that is ready to go now.
The glitter juice you're looking at today isn't WD-40 homebrew and whatever. way beyond that, in fact there are no less than 20 ingredients in that can and they all work together to give you a non sticky finish, doesn't attract dirt or bugs etc, beyond that we now have a glossy clear coat, matte and satin. this is a real clear coat, okay, a urethane clear coat. Now some people will say you can't clean off the patina or the rust or any of these things, it doesn't work and technically they are correct if you're thinking about traditional automotive clear coat.
They are designed to have chemical adhesion, meaning they are supposed to be sprayed over a sanded base coat prepared according to your color code. It is a two-part system. You get your base and then you're supposed to apply your clear coat. Well, people started. taking the clear coat and applying it to rust and bare metal and all that and they started having problems because it's not designed to do that now it's formulated specifically for mechanical adhesion, in a nutshell it's designed specifically to go over rust and patina paint. and rough areas and surfaces and bare metal and you can even put it on wood stickers and vinyl and whatever, people have had great success with this and I'm going to show you that today you can clean this. to show you that super simple, quick, easy or you can also spray it and that's why we have the ceiling here sealed with duct tape and I'm going to explain why now again this is very surface tolerant and what I mean by that is all this imperfection.
This monkey remembers that earlier we were sanding this a little bit trying to get it a little smooth. In fact, we don't have to look at this ceiling here, it's veryrough, but you can just clean it with its self-leveling. It's going to look great, however, that being said, if you want a really shiny shine, obviously the smoother the surface, the more it's going to shine because it reflects more now on this ceiling. I can't figure out my belly, you know, this is it's big, I can't even get to the center right, so what I'm going to do is spray the ceiling so you can see the process, mix it, pour it into a cup, spray the roof and then we'll show you how. to clean it, we'll clean the rest of the car now you can do one or the other you can mix it up it doesn't really matter everything stays the same you'll get the same result as me I'm going to use it as a weapon of course it's Harbor Freight's cheapest weapon.
You have seen me use it several times. They don't have to use fancy weapons and all that. I put a filter on it. keep a little bit of water out, but it's just spray one coat, that's it, let it dry, so where we're going to start, we're going to go ahead and use some wax and grease remover. I just use full brew or almost anything that's going to clean this up, make sure there's no fingerprints and stuff, there might be traces of scotch left, wipe it off and then we'll mix a cup and go ahead and spray this stuff. and look how it looks, I think this is going to look really nice, we've got some grays, there's a lot of gray in there, we've got some dark brown, we've got rust back here, we've got some rust showing up.
Here are a couple of bare metal patches, almost everything. I'm not sure what that is, but we're going to clean on top of that and also clean the ceiling here again just using this wax and grease lint remover. -A free rag will just come in here and clean this now look at this because I can almost guarantee you that this will turn the same color just by picking it up see so we don't want that in our cleaning process and Clean all of this and then we'll come back to you, we'll mix a cup and we'll drizzle, so we have our mixing cup here and our two parts and the construction says eight to one, so it's very simple, eight parts to one.
Okay, if you look at this cup, I just wanted to show you this and we don't have to mix it all at once, just slow down, enjoy the process, take your time, let's go ahead and mix this cup. a 20 ounce cup in the gun, whatever's left, we can go ahead and use it to clean up the application later, but don't you know that you don't have to mix everything in a big jug at once? Okay, so all we have to do is just run this up to uh we're going to go to five and then we're going to take the little one up to the five next to it and that gives us eight one and if you cross that that's going to give us almost 20 ounces which should just fill that cup up, which will be more than enough to spray the ceiling, whatever's left, like I said, we could go ahead and use it to clean up the application, but it's that easy guys, just throw it in the trash and we'll give it to you. just a little shake, throw it in that cup, hose it down and spray them, foreign guys here we go let's get a couple of test spray patterns here, very long roof so I have to try to walk while spraying to get a little glass to glass, that's it.
To be really interesting, don't laugh at me if I fall overseas so easily and have to move my walkways to the other side, spray that side and we end up very easy, so these things are loaded with UV inhibitors, so whatever you see here. guys, it's going to lock it in whatever you're looking at, it just seals it, protects it. I mean, in this case, it took them 60 years, whatever the math is, to look like this, we're just going to lock it in on the outside in this. A quarter panel here, check out this paint, even though I shined it with whiskey, it's just still peeling off a lot of areas.
Here you'll be surprised how much this covers and seals, but some of these pieces are quite large and if we just float. on top and this comes off, so we're just going to expose what's underneath, so I'm going to take about 400 on a DA and real quick and we can get a little bit of brown, anyway we'll get more color to highlight. what this side of the car really needs, there's not much here to be honest, so I'm going to sand this real quick and then obviously we're going to have to clean it again, clean everything off and I'm trying to keep this rust off.
I remember from up here for some character, so I have to be a little careful. I want to leave all of this up here, but we have to address this. Let's soften the character a little more. This is what I ended up with. The boy brought some more. colors we have a little bit of black, a little bit of white, silver gray, pomegranate, salmon, maroon, brown, silver, almond, and then this was okay, but I felt like there was too much in there, so I put a little bit of this here and again , you could do this with the quad zero.
Steel wool also when you wash it, if you see something jumping through it like this, apply pressure, you may get some streaks, really make it unique, if you do that. I know some of you are thinking you know this whole patina thing, it's not yours. bag, paint the car now and that's fine, but you must remember that not everyone can afford 10,12,15,000 to paint a car and this would not be worth investing that money. This is a really affordable way to just stamp this and make it look really nice at the same time, I did something over here and added a little bit more color.
I took this out. We've got more bare metal showing up around here and I did a bit in front as well. This is quite well reflected. Look. these Moses sandals look good let's go ahead and clean this up now we're going to start with the hood and then we'll know fenders doors trunk quarters how to wash a car when you paint you always start with the roof right that's why we spray first I put my applicator pad here, the blue one made sure there was no lint, grime, dust or dirt here, I put that little paint tray here, I'm just going to soak up my applicator pad it takes a little practice to get the right amount here, but You guys will get the hang of it pretty quickly.
I'm going to make an outline here quickly under this, like this, let's start here, let's just go. to go to work I just have to work pretty fast here nice thin coats look at that clear coat being applied you make a mistake let her sit you can come back in 24 hours if you miss a spot or something try to resist the urge to go If you come back and you add more product, you could get in a bind, you know what I mean, I had a little streak right there, but I just wiped it off so I could go back and grab it quickly too if you have a spotter, someone who can set their sights on this with you that It's also useful here we go I'm going to change to that side there's your before and after what a tremendous change it is this is the biggest and cheapest transformation you can make to your team without a doubt and maybe we'll put a happy tree on top, no, I'm just kidding, actually that would look really cool.
I grew up with a guy named Dick McGregor. He had Christmas trees all over his Dodge truck, no one knew why, but he looked nice. Cool, I'm going to keep rocking now guys, Stanton, pretty cool under this, okay, well the guy's got the whole car cleaned back here, man, I can't seem to believe it. You know, shiny things scare me and now this car is really scary. I'm going to wait about 20 minutes, let's try to play, I'll take all the tape and paper off of this thing and show you guys you're going to like this, so a guy has to look through the bumper here.
It's peeling off, I don't know if you can see it, but it's like a chip, like there's a little bit there, I think what I'm going to do is take this bumper off, dip it and re-chrome it. and put it back on and I think it'll look a lot better that way, here we go, yeah, look, the rechroming processes take a long time, but I think we can spray it a little bit here, yeah, oh yeah, bumper rechrome. 15 bucks each, oh there we go, oh yeah it looks pretty good I mean my mind is I'm completely bottled up right now this thing is hotter than a stolen set of 22 and I'm not kidding listen , it is not. perfect, you know, I have a sag in the other door, you could see a couple of areas where maybe it was a little thin, but we're not going to look for perfection, look at the car, we're not going to look for perfection, we're just trying to seal what we have here, put a little shine on it and wow, we did that.
I'm actually getting a little nervous, you know, about the shiny stuff and I'm not the seller, okay, but if you're interested in maybe trying one of these you can move them to vicegripgarage.com. There's also a link down there in the description and also in the description there's an email address and if you write something there, a question or concern or whatever, a nerd, I mean, a smart person will respond to you. for you who know everything about these things, so we have people who can help us, okay, but what a change now that I'm seeing this, we're not done yet, we have to do something with the altitude attitude in this, I think the forehead.
The end has to go down, so we're going to do the right thing, take out the gas ax and make a little adjustment to the front here and then my favorite part is going to drive this through the hills of Tennessee, as you can see. she's sitting pretty level now, which you know, okay, some people probably just want to leave her alone, but I like a little rake on my classic cars, you know, the bottom is a little higher, especially because she I put the right size tires on. a little different now and my whole plan here is kind of like you know, a 50's muscle guy, a cigar, a drug racer, a drug racer, whatever you want to call it, a Cuban car guy, maybe yeah that exists, but to achieve that I need to get rid of it.
Gap right there, lower that just a little bit, not much an inch and a half, maybe maybe two inches and this will look just, I mean, it already looks pretty good, so unfortunately, looking closer, these springs are quite well bagged. We'll probably have to heat up all these coils and try to get them to collapse to even get anything out of this. We might get an inch if we're lucky, there's usually a bigger gap there and you only have to heat maybe two and that's it. What happens is they'll go down, so it'll lean over to the next one, then you'll go to the next one, and then you'll go down to the next one like that, but I don't know if I'll be able to do it. a lot here ignore everything that's worn out okay we just need to get it down nice everyone can keep an eye on this gap here and we'll see if we can get this down just a little bit hopefully there's enough fit left on this bad boy.
By fit I mean the ability to melt or bend, be sure to keep an eye on the brake lines now, repeat carefully, don't heat the shock too much. The thumbs are full of oil. Put a little late. Connor, here we go, why are the spiders running. I got all kinds of bugs being evicted here sorry Fellers is just playing hot rod cuz I got a link screwed up now I just gotta screw up the next one come on now gimme some bam look good let's get one more here , let's see if we can make Three Links about a quarter of an inch of each length, what are those three feet?
Also make sure your spring pockets are full of leaves. I've been there before, that'll get you excited. What we have? Oh yes, foreigner, now this is what it looks like. I was going to get some rake. but don't worry, she's not on the bumpers, so you still get the benefit of the shock absorbers exploding, look, she'll still float down the road, okay, come on. Attack this thing on the road and enjoy it, this car really came into its own. something great and the best part we did it on a budget and it proves once again that you don't have to have the best parts or the shiny parts or the new interior or a new paint job and this and that who cares what other people think in your project, after all, it's your car, go out, enjoy it, take it on the road, take it to the cars in Tequila, I need coffee cars, take it to car shows, you know, whatever.
Cruise, just use it, enjoy it. your vehicle don't be ashamed or shy, it is what it is, I know, I'm not, once again I will remind you that they won't work if you don't, so go out and do something with your intention. pound rate thank you all for watching once again. See you very, very soon.
