2022 Chevy Bolt Q&A - Is it a Safe Vehicle?

Mar 12, 2024
What's going on guys welcome back to the channel and in this video we will answer more of your questions about

bolt

s so I made a one year review video of my

2022

Chevy Bolt euv. You guys ask a lot of questions here. I answered a bunch of them in my question video part one, I'll link it below, so if you don't see your question here and you think it may have been answered before, watch that video and definitely watch that video anyway because I answered There are a lot of good questions there, but I have a couple of residual questions that I've been getting that I want to go ahead and answer in this video.

Let's go ahead and start with number one and that is: can you add a super? navigate anytime on top models or just when purchasing this is a great question, it's not strictly a software feature, it has hardware elements, one of those things is the little LED bar that goes here on the top of the steering wheel I don't have it because mine is an LT, but it also has a little sensor here that detects whether or not you're paying attention to the road in front of you, so unfortunately it can't be added after the fact, it has to be included. in your version. at the time of purchase, either directly from the factory or from a dealer who has one in stock that has the Super Cruise add-on, which costs two thousand five hundred dollars.

More Interesting Facts About,

2022 chevy bolt q a is it a safe vehicle...

I recently made a video talking about the 2023 Bolt Euv and drove one. for the first time with supercruise and has my first impressions of supercruise. I'll have it linked below, so this question from Anthony has a couple different parts. I'm considering leasing a 2023 Bolt Euv once it's available. I live in New Jersey, so our winters can be pretty cold here. Do you know, in the worst case scenario, in freezing temperatures, how much range the

bolt

will give you with a full charge? Obviously, I don't live in a freezing climate, esp. not all the time, so I don't know what the worst case scenario is, but I do know that in the winters here in Kentucky it can get into the 20s or 30s, sometimes it gets way below freezing, close to zero, and I've only had it for one winter, so I'm just talking from that experience, but I was getting around 140 miles, 100 to 150 miles, at best.

I talked a little bit about that in my one year review, how I was doing, it's definitely a pretty significant drop. Starting at 240 miles, you can get kind of a peak that you can reach during the warmer months, especially if you use a lot of heating and things like that, so I would recommend that if you live in a freezing climate, get a model. which has heated seats and steering wheels so it's the top model and then it says lastly on a full charge how many miles it could go in total before it would no longer work.

I know it says it gets about 259 miles, that's for the EV not the euv, but it says I have a feeling you could probably get more out of it, especially if you don't accelerate and use the climate control. Thank you for taking the time to read all my questions. The best. Anthony, thanks for all those questions. it said 259 miles is EV spec the euv is closer to 239 miles and I haven't really done this personally but maybe outside of the spec review is who did it but they did a range test from fully charged to zero in bolt drive. 70 miles an hour on the highway and they got I think 235 or 237 miles, it was one of those.
I'll have your exact calculations on screen in case I'm misquoting you, but they did a full test. I will have it. Linked below, check it out. They made an excellent video. Can you use Tesla Supercharger in

vehicle

? If so, how does it work so I can use Tesla charging stations? But they have to be non-supercharger variants, so they're kind of target chargers, I think that's what they're called. You can find certain locations, but you have to make sure you find the right one because if you try to connect it to a supercharger, it won't work. You have to have an adapter anyway, adapters are relatively cheap on Amazon, but you will need it and you will only be able to use the target charger.
Superchargers won't work. The chargers are basically just level two chargers. I'll give it average charge speeds, but it won't be anything like a supercharger. Now Tesla says they will open up their supercharger network to all EVs in the future and I think that will be relatively soon for anything Tesla has. should be taken with a little asterisk and a teaspoon of salt because they move at a completely different pace there, relatively soon I have no idea what that means but they've been talking about it for a while so I hope that comes up in a while near future.
The next question says: have you noticed that the fast charging speed is accelerated by software compared to the previous model? If so, how has it changed? I have never fast charged or Bolt the 2021 and you know, the previous variants or the

2022

or 2023. I have never fast charged. I charged once so I literally have no experience with fast charging, maybe I should do it just for the fun of it to go find one but we really don't have many here. I think we have one, so the next question says Hello, how are you? I'm holding on and then it says it's hard to find information about the navigation that comes with the sun and sound option or the sun and sound package.
Do you just enable the navigation button on the center console? How useful is this navigation? So I'm not a big fan of in-

vehicle

navigation in general. I just don't find them that useful, especially since basically all modern vehicles come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto using Waze Google Maps Apple Maps. Any third party navigation on your screen is much better. I have yet to find a manufacturer default navigation system that is actually worth the money. I've said that Chevy's in-vehicle navigation system, especially the one I used on the bolt, is pretty good, smooth and responsive, but I still don't think it's worth it. the price, if that's all you want to upgrade with the sun and sound package, it's like a sunroof and navigation, don't do it, I have other reasons, if you are a great vehicle navigation expert, it is definitely not a disadvantage For other manufacturers, it is. a disadvantage on the bolt, okay, this question says: Hi, I love your videos.
Thank you so much. I wanted to know if I could ride high in a bolt EV or euv like I could in a small SUV. Some people have told me you can. and others, the seats are the same as a normal car, you are the god bolt, so you would know. I don't know if my name is the bolt God, I'll take it and then put some parentheses. I have five five, so. I'm six one, so eight inches taller, yeah, math, I'm good at math, very good at math, obviously I'm naturally going to sit higher because I'm taller, but the bolt doesn't have crazy ground clearance like my Crosstrack.
It had 8.7 inches of ground clearance, so it felt like it rode higher like a normal SUV. It definitely looks more like a sedan. It's definitely a lower ride. You feel like you are closer to the ground, but you can use the handle on the side. the seat here and pump the seat up so you know you're higher up, you can see over the hood a lot easier and stuff like that. I'm contemplating buying a bolt-on EV, they have a tank for one, but one thing that keeps them on the fence when going through it are the flashing brake lights on the back.
It seems like a

safe

ty hazard to me that they are on the bumper. Has that bothered you or maybe you've noticed that people following you don't see you brake or use your flashing lights? Do you think there is a way to rewire the lights so that it uses the upper ones in the hatch and only uses the ones in the bumper when the trunk is open, so with the question about rewiring I am absolutely the wrong person to ask about rewiring, but I'm going to assume that is not possible or maybe even not legal. I don't know if you can manipulate that in any way.
I'm the wrong person to ask, maybe someone else in the comments can help you, but as far as noticing it from a

safe

ty perspective, while they are definitely in a strange place, it's not the only vehicle that has them in a place. Strange, it's becoming more and more common on these smaller compact hatchbacks, but I haven't noticed anything like that. I haven't been rear-ended. I haven't noticed people, like you know, slamming on the brakes or anything like that. People seem to be able to see it. I don't think it's as important as people think, but again, your experience may vary.
I wouldn't let that be too much of a factor because I think if it was too much of a safety risk, Chevy would have come up with an alternative idea. This question says I just bought one today. Amazing congratulations on your new purchase. I want to upload at work, but it's an open lot at a university. I read that you shouldn't leave them plugged in unattended. Is it safe to plug them in and go to class or go to lunch or should you use it in the car? I guess inherently, any time you leave your vehicle or anything else unattended, there are risks, unless you're using a Tesla destination charger like I mentioned earlier in the video.
You know the adapter could be stolen, but you can also set it up where when you unplug it, the alarm automatically starts going off in your vehicle, so there's always that option. I don't really think any of those things are at play here, so outside of that, you know I don't know if you're considering fire. risk I don't think any of that really applies to the situation you're describing, you're going to be using a slower level 2 charger for an extended period of time or a short period of time to back off a couple of miles. No I don't think there will be any video.
I don't think you should worry about that. Another thing to consider is that a lot of these structures that you know house these cargo things and don't expect you to be sitting on them. car while you're charging it all the time, if there's a level 2 charger in a parking lot, no one expects you to plug it in and then sit there like you're plugging it in to get into the museum or hotel. or wherever you stay or visit so that's the expectation so you really know that you would consider it and not let it get to you because obviously they put it there for your convenience and they don't expect you to take care of it so I think I'll be perfectly fine , I'll go to lunch, I'll go to class, I'll work, all that kind of stuff and I'll leave it plugged in, so thanks so much for watching guys, leave a like on the video, if you loved it, tell me in the comments below.
