So what I'm currently working on is setting up Canbus communication. between the ASI motor drivers and the tablet application. So we start here, where you can see the signal produced by the controller that Arduino selects Ken Line and translates it to display our voltage, motor rpm, motor current, vehicle speed, and the motor controller temperatures. Finally, it is sent to the application. You will be able to show all our information and control things like our lights. Alright, we were planning to finish the interior of the Cybertruck with this faux leather vinyl wrap. The problem is that we found that it is a bit difficult to apply to the interior of the car.
It is usually intended to go on the outside of the car. There are a lot of seams that we didn't like very much. Look up and then if we ever want to repair them we would have to do more sewing. So instead, we'll opt for a truck bed liner. Basically a black rubber thermal layer that is nice and durable. I think it will give a very nice, consistent finish throughout the interior of the Cybertruck and then we can also use it for the exterior edges like the fenders and bumpers. So let's dismantle the entire Cybertruck. I'll order the truck bed liner and then we can finish the Cybertruck.
Now that the inside and outside of the Cybertruck are dry, we need to remove all the masking tape and see how it looks. In the last video you saw exactly how much torque this thing has. I mean, we were literally making smoke in the garage burning those tires. We want even more torque, so Stan agreed to upgrade the rear motor for us. Then it has even more power, come on. Hello Bill! The motor that you are going to install for the higher torque application, what we have done is use multiple thin conductors in parallel.
Many of the motors that you see that have high power motors have been hand wound so that they can pass high currents. The first motor you ran used a hybrid magnet. We take a small amount of neodymium and back it with a ceramic magnet. For our new motor they are just very thick neodymium magnets. You can have a higher flux level without demagnetizing the magnet. The higher flow level will simply lead to higher torque. Between the neodymium magnets and the more turns of wire we can pass more power through the motor and obtain more torque. The new rear motor has one hundred and thirty Newton meters of torque.
Add that to the front motors with 720 Newton meters of torque together. It has 850 Newton meters of torque. For comparison, the five-liter F-150 v8 only has four hundred foot-pounds of torque in the engine, which of course means we'll challenge it to a tug-of-war in the video below. Now that we have finished painting the interior and trim of the Cybertruck. We just need the finishing touches to do this. I just finished programming an RFID module for a Tesla Cybertruck that we use to scan the unique identifiers on each of these key tags, if it matches what is programmed into the Arduino it activates this relay and opens our latch.
It is really amazing to see how the entire electronic system works cohesively with the application. The drive mode tab allows us to control things like the ignition, drive mode, gear shift, and even things like the door locks and tailgate. You can even open the charging port. The lighting tab gives us full control over every light bar throughout the car, including headlights, off-road lights, interior, truck bed, taillights, and fog lights, as well as hue and brightness. . Finally, the motor control tab shows all of our survey information for each motor. These are the finishing touches to give you the finished Cybertruck.
Alright, finally the Cybertruck sorry, the half scale Cybertruck is finally finished. It took us a little longer than we expected. I think when we started we expected to finish it in about two weeks. Which wasn't really realistic, especially with all the design and projecting we had. We kept coming up with all these cool accessories and bells and whistles to add to this, which ended up making it awesome like the charging port. Like we could literally charge this at any EV charging station, that's freaking awesome. All the LEDs, the iPad as a board, even the marble board, like we didn't have to do that at all, but because we did it it's a really polished project and I think probably one of the projects we're most proud of here at Hacksmith.
Industries. Now you may be wondering how much it cost to make a project like this. Well, as far as components go, there's about $10,000 worth of parts, not including the motors and speed controllers we got for free from Accelerated Systems Incorporated. As for labor, we've invested about $40,000 in time, which means this half-scale Cybertruck costs more than a real Cybertruck. Crazy right? That's the cost of prototyping. Cars are only cheap thanks to their mass production. If I had to guess, I bet the actual prototype of the
