jig. I can't say I invented it, but I certainly modified it heavily, which is why many people simply call it a Scandinavian template. Many people use this template and get two. pieces of angle iron like this and then they put two bolts through it, sandwich their blade and grind the bevel. Now this style of template has some advantages and disadvantages, one of the disadvantages is that it requires a table surface that is a little bit larger, this is much larger, but certainly a little larger than normal and requires one that Many tilt jigs I see have mechanisms that will tilt the jig so you don't have to tilt the table.

Now there are advantages. and the disadvantages of that, like anything else, the advantage of course is that you don't need a table like this. The only advantages, once you have the sheet here, you know you do it that way, so you bring it in and do it. That way you don't have to take the knife out of the jig or move it around on the jig, it just stays stationary. There are some other problems with this arrangement. The way it was. Some of the problems I saw, the angle iron is not exactly perfectly flat. or perfectly square and that can be problematic so I have a surface grinder. I left that side a little rougher, that's the side you'll see in the design of that work when I got to it and now it's nice and flat and square, so that solved the problem. Now I had my own template modification here that I made for this idea, it actually became one of those before it was just the blue part and then I turned it into this now I made a couple of additions, one of the additions is this screw of fixation, so if you have a piece of material here at the top and you squeeze it, you're going to want to pinch it, so what's going to happen is it's going to want to go like this and not be flat and not be flat, so I added this to compensate for the thickness of the material, so that was my first modification.

I found another problem with this arrangement. You have to use your imagination and pretend there's a knife here and it screws in, but when you're polishing with this jig and you get here, Boop, you have like a bump, no matter how you put the jig in, they never line up like that, they always tend to be like a little bit off center like this or like this or and it's very hard to get it in that square which makes it difficult to polish cleanly so that was a problem I solved with a piece of Corian so here's the piece of Corian that I put here . and it's stuck on this side, but this side is free flowing, so I use it for a while and then it works great, but once in a while, if you stick a knife in there, sorry for the camera, if you get stabbed, they're not it's so right and it says this just looks stuck here that's all you need but when this would happen a certain way it would rip it off because it would push it down and break it so this was a 2.0 3.0 type version and I did several modifications of this but now I have what is my final arrangement of this Jade there is the piece of Corian this is the side it is glue so it occurred to me I don't need a piece of angle iron on the other side I just need a plate, one of the problems with my previous one that I saw, I didn't loosen this plate enough, so when I loosened these bolts, this plate refused to come back because it was kind of tight in those two holes, so I made those holes extra large so it would actually slide forward and backward very easily.

Oops, so let's put a knife here. Let me be complicated with one hand. Always tell me I should get much closer to a tripod. It's not a bad idea, so at first I'll have exactly the square there. You've been tipping it, but if you're making several knives of the same thickness, you'll get the hang of it. This is a two-handed operation, so I'm going to leave the knife like this for now if I can get that offset right that feels good, so we're there relatively square now two things that I put on the surface on the opposite side of this plate and, of course, this one has a third-rate surface.
