Apr 08, 2024
Hey guys, you're watching QDCrafts. Welcome to

part

1 of my

craft

room

/study

room

transformation

. Today I wanted to show you how I'm going to set up my new little workspace, my office where I can film and edit all my videos, and if you've seen this background before in my previous videos, this one is actually in my room and it's starting to get a little cluttered with all my projects and all my

craft

supplies taking up space in here. So I wanted to get them into a dedicated room where I can keep things organized and also do all my YouTube stuff there.

If you like these types of home improvement videos, give this video a thumbs up and maybe next year I'll do a complete room

makeover

. But for now let me show you what the room looks like and we'll get to work. Welcome to the Blue Room. This space used to be a storage room and play area that my brother and I used when we were younger, but we haven't touched it in a few years, so I finally decided to turn it into something useful. There is a mirror in here which makes the room look much larger than it actually is, but I think it's a pretty decent amount of space to set up my craft area and there could even be some extra space left.

More Interesting Facts About,

You can see there's still quite a bit of clutter and extra supplies I have in here along with this big cabinet full of my brother's old Legos, so I'm going to have to relocate these guys. Now that you have a good idea of what the old blue room looked like before the

transformation

, I'm going to take all this stuff out, empty this room, and then bring in some new furniture. Now that the Blue Room is completely empty, I'm actually not too sure what I'll do with this side of the room, but let's focus on the back.

This area here, is going to be my main craft area where I'll have my tables, some drawers or whatever to organize my supplies and I feel like I should be doing something cool with the background. It's just a simple blue

wall

right now, so when I film my YouTube videos I hope I can have a nicer background that I'll design here. And then that

wall

too, I want to put something there so it's not just blue, but yeah, let's bring in the furniture. I bought two desks because I wanted them to be L-shaped so that there would be a main table to work on and also a side table to store my computer and supplies.

Like many other craft rooms you see on YouTube, I bought these desks from Ikea and the one I'm putting together here is the side table. I'll leave the name and dimensions in the description below if you want to check it out yourself. I don't know about you, but I love assembling furniture. I think it's really fun, relaxing, and even therapeutic, and this one only took me about an hour to finish. Moving on to desk number two, I'm setting up the main desk where I would do my crafts and film videos. This one is a little more complicated because it has a mechanical component.
Basically, there is a crank that you turn that will allow this desk to be raised or lowered depending on whether you want to work standing or sitting. There were other desks that had motors so you didn't have to turn them to go up or down, but I'm not paying $500 for a desk, so this one was perfect. Works! Alright guys, now that I have the tables set up, this is exactly what I imagined my workspace would be like. It's a nice L shape so I have a big workspace here to do my projects and film and then I have a smaller workspace here where I can put my laptop or other decorations.
Oh, and by the way, I got this really pretty blue one. chair. It's a very pretty blue that looks like denim. I really like this chair because I was able to customize it myself. I chose white handlebars and a white base with a blue seat. I also love this chair because it is so much more comfortable compared to that sad little brown chair I had in this room. Now for the walls, I have a pretty good idea of what I want to put on this main wall that you'll probably see every time I film here, but for this wall, I'm going to use an open organization system with the help of some

pegboard

s. and I don't mean the ones we use for our accounts.
I'm talking about these types of

pegboard

s that you put on the wall and you can put little hooks in these holes. These are also from Ikea and you can also get pegboards at Home Depot or a hardware store, but I think these are better suited for a home and look a little nicer and less industrial. So I'm going to place them on this wall. I have four of these and I also have some of the pegboard accessories I bought. Once they're up on the wall, I'll see how I use the accessories and organize my stuff. I bought the largest size pegboard they had in white and it comes with four screws, two wall spacers, and a metal bar that will allow you to attach it to the wall.
Assembling the pegboards is pretty simple. It's just that when you put the metal bar in it can be hard to make sure it's straight, so my mom helped me hold the pegboards while she screwed them in. Since the main attachment points are on the top edge of the board, you should place these spacers on the bottom so the boards don't move every time you take things off of them. That's just one of the pegboards. I still have three more left to make an entire pegboard wall. With the pegboards ready, just a quick PSA to make sure you check your smoke detectors.
Now for the fun

part

, I have all these accessories I need to make the pegboards functional. I bought different hooks, shelves, some rope and these little containers that are quite useful for storing things. I also bought this pencil holder and this wire letter holder from Walmart. I love that it's like a blank canvas where I can use the accessories to decorate it however I want and I can also change it in the future. Starting with quadrant three, this is the board that I can get to the easiest when I'm sitting in front of my main work table, so I'm going to put a lot of the supplies that I need to grab very quickly on these long hooks and I decided to put two of These clear storage containers that will slide out easily when you need to take out what you put in there.
The long hooks are perfect for my bead pegboards and I am going to attach the midi and mini ones to three of these sets. Since I already have a stationery holder, I decided to use this container to store some of my pliers and some tweezers. This room is quite far from the kitchen, so I put some snacks in the container so I can eat something while I edit or work on something. They can also be used to hold over 7,500 mini accounts. I use the short hooks to hold the scissors so I can easily grab them, use them, and then put them away when I'm done.
And the last thing I put in this quadrant is another set of long hooks and this one I'll use to hold my tripods. Just above that board in quadrant two, I decided to use this board primarily as a display area, since this part of the board is quite high on the wall. I'm not going to get here too often unless I change the decorations I put on the shelves, like these Minecraft figures. I also bought these little bungee cord things that have multiple different functions, but I decided to use them to store my photos. They can extend very far and are pretty strong, so if you really want to hold something behind this rope you can, but I'm just using it to hold my extra photos.
You can even use the short hooks to hang clocks, wall art, or frames you want to display. This side is mainly for decorative purposes and now let's move on to quadrant one. Again, I'm not going to reach out here too often, so I'm using this space as a way to store my supplies. I think it's fun to imagine what it's like to have a store where you have products that you can sell, so this is like my little store, although I don't sell any of this. They are just my extra supplies that I will carry when I need them.
And then I added some extra little decorations to make the board a little cuter. As I mentioned before, you can use this bungee cord to make something stay on the board, so here I have the villagers I kidnapped. And just to have a little more color, I put Kermit in here too. The last quadrant is more for my tech stuff, so I used the long hooks to hold my headphones. I used the short hooks to hold my wire card holder and also some of my colored cards so I could access them easily. And the last clear container I have I will use to store my batteries and probably some cables or USBs later.
I put my notebooks in this letter holder and to turn it into a charging base, I secured a power bar with some electrical cable ties. I got this idea from a tech YouTuber who I'll link to in the description. Once the power bar is securely secured and plugged in, I have this really convenient charging area for my camera batteries and also my phone, which I can place in the letter holder next to it. Now the last component of this tech area is my computer and this Rilakkuma camera case. I have another shelf to place right behind my computer monitor and this one will be used to hold my external hard drive; the rope below will be used to manage the cables.
Last but not least, I'm using my last shelf accessory and placing it in the middle of the entire board so I can display my succulent sloth and my DIY movie box. Alright guys, now I just need to bring my computer, set up some of my tech stuff and then I'll show you the final result. *relaxing lofi music plays* Alright guys, I've been using my computer here for a couple of days. Everything seems to be working very well. I have this lamp here that can change color and I really like it because it's like a little charging dock for my phones.
Everything is connected to this power bar and can be turned off when not in use. Here is my microphone for voiceovers and then over here I decided to put a secondary monitor so I can watch videos while editing. I have an external speaker so I can hear the sound from this side. I also have this clamp lamp which is really cool, it can move back and forth when the monitors are out of the way and I set it to just click this button and it turns on. I really love having these chocolates here, they are delicious snacks while I edit and this is a really cool place to store my hard drive so that under the computer it doesn't get too messy.
There's an extra outlet here with some USB ports so I can plug in my iron, my glue gun, and I guess charge my phone if I ever do live streams and yeah, that's it for this area. I really love it so far. It's a shame that I'm going back to university very soon, so I'll probably bring all of this there. Kermit is coming with me too. Thank you all so much for watching the first part of my study room

makeover

. I still have this whole wall on this side that's just a blank blue wall. What I do to this wall will be in part two so make sure you keep an eye out for that, I think it might be a little more interesting because it will definitely be colorful.
I think this works very well for me. I always like to see things out in the open, but they're organized, so it's kind of an organized mess. Thanks again for watching and I'll see you next time with another QDCraft. Bye bye! Also be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell so you can receive updates on my new videos. I always forget to say that. Anyway, bai!
