Mar 15, 2024
Hello everyone, welcome back to White Sparrow Living Luke 12 Six, this is windy if you're coming for the first time, welcome and I hope you'll consider hitting the subscribe button below as well as the little bell next to it so You can receive a notification every time I upload a new video. Today we will be doing four Dollar Tree DIY projects on a farm. A lot of people ask me the difference between the Silhouette 3 Cameo and the Cricut Scan Line, so Cricut has been pretty kind. Please send me your Explorer air 2, so I'm going to use it in two of the DIYs we're doing today.

Remember there are only two days left before we have our Cricut drawing which will be June 1st so make sure you are subscribed and you comment on the video below so without further ado let's get started on a first Dollar Tree project . We'll start with this wooden sign, four of these 4x6 picture frames, a plastic pyramid-shaped saint, and something else. burlap and lace ribbon, some black and white buffalo plaid Hobby Lobby ribbon and I pay five

dollar

s for this and then some jute twine and this is the kind I pulled out of one of these metal buckets and can never find nautical rope at Dollar Tree, but I finally found some, so I stocked up, along with some greenery, some miscellaneous white flowers, like dahlias and hydrangeas, and then some krylon white spray paint and Michael J bought me this little sprayer with handle so I'll have it in my Amazon store some elephant chalk paint and then my heat tool that I use to remove the stickers from my sign and then my cricket spatula and a Phillips screwdriver and then my glue gun hot, scissors, East Sixth ousand wire cutters, a chenille stem and me.

More Interesting Facts About,

4 dollar tree diys farmhouse home decor 2 using the cricut explore air 2...

I think that's it so the first thing I did was take off the back of my sign and this one came off pretty easily and I'm just going to remove the little leg that's on it and then I removed the back sawtooth hanger with my screwdriver. and I always keep them in a little baggie so I can use them on other projects, so now I'm just going to take my hot glue and put the board on there so it's more secure and doesn't come off, and then I'm going to use my heat tool to remove those stickers and it's so easy it just liquefies the glue and makes it easy to lift and doesn't leave that disgusting mess so this is going to be the base of our project and we'll be making a lantern so it's always a lot of fun trying to build something and you need pieces that fit, so I bought these frames and they were a beautiful lavender color and I'm always looking for frames that I don't know.

I don't have to paint or look good as is, unfortunately I'm going to have to paint over these pretty purples because this particular frame fits perfectly over the top of this base frame, so I'm going to take it apart, take out everything inside and then push. lashes gently because this is a cheap foam material so I'm just going to take my hot glue and my e6000 and make little dotted lines so you can put the glue in between the e6000 because I guess the chemicals together don't give a good hold so which I'll do that all the way around and then place them where one side will overlap the other sides so they fit snugly around the base, which I should do.

However what I did was paint them before I built it because when I was painting with spray paint to get to the inside you hit the outside and that will cause some drips so again do as I say not as I do that's what do. These tests are for now. I'm going to replace the glass and put it back into each of the frames, so I opened up the tabbies again, another reason to probably build it after I've painted it and it would be easier to put the glass in. If they were still flat and not attached, now I'm going to take my jute twine and I'm just going to wrap the bottom and then I'm going to do the top, but I just took a piece and I used my hot glue and I used a fine tip hot glue gun for this project. or anything that needs a little bit of detail work and fine lines of glue so it has less leakage while the larger opening just puts it in there a little too big and then it leaked so I'll make sure to determine which side I want let it be my front, so since I had some drips on it, I made sure it would be on the back and wouldn't show, so I just cut my jute. twine to the size I needed and then I'll tie them together and then add my lid by putting a piece of burlap ribbon on the top back because I need the top to open so I can put whatever I want inside.
Now this piece of burlap I used was too narrow so I had to spread it out and use a larger piece to make it open a little more so I just glued my ribbon to both the lantern and the bottom. of my sand toy and then that gave me a little hinge and I also made sure that the little hole where the tag was was also on the back so now I'm going to distress my piece

using

my elephant chalk paint and I'm just

using

a fan brush and dry brushing it over all the white areas so it doesn't look so new and I always like to go in the direction of how the frame is, so if it's the side pieces, I'm going to go. vertically and at the top and bottom everything goes horizontally and then I did the ceiling part too and when I'm doing the distressing painting I try to start as light as possible and then add more, it's a lot easier to do it that way because you can keep adding instead of removing, you can add more white if you go too heavy-handed, but it's much easier to do it in gradual steps so you don't have to, so now I'm going to Take my jute twine and place it around the top of my flashlight and I'll make sure to start and stop at the back so you don't see that connection and then I'll start my bow. for the top of the lantern and I'm going to make a disclaimer right now, I went a little overboard on the hood trim.
I alternate, but I started with my Buffalo plaid ribbon and used the folding method. where I made three loops on each side and cut the ribbon and then set it aside because I'm going to make a double ribbon bow, so I took my burlap and lace ribbon and made a different type. I did the good I did. I'm guessing you're folding this too, but it's the kind that, because it's only one side, you roll it back on itself. I call it the Olivia bow because that's how I learned to do it, so this way only the front will show. when you fluff it up, now I'm going to take my scissors and make some little cuts on the sides and right in the middle so that my chenille stem goes through those slits and then you can make your bun a little bit. easier and make them go where you want so I just twisted my chenille stem on the back and then I started fluffing and I fluffed all the time until it was completely done so I just pulled left and right with each one of those loops until I get it in the position I want and then at the ends I'm going to join them together by folding them in half and then cutting them at an angle so I'm going to hot glue them on top. right side of the roof, but just for stability I took the excess chenille stem and wrapped it around the pointy part of the roof and then I twisted it and it will be covered in flowers as you will soon see, so first I took my dahlias and just I cut it with my wire cutters and give it a little bit more stem because again you can remove but you can't add too much well, but you know it's more work so I'm just going to see where I want.
Then I'll place them in place with a little bit of hot glue and then I'll do the same thing with my hydrangeas and then I'll add some of the green leaves. Now I know not everyone would love them that big. of a bow when I made this but I really thought the top of the lantern was too pointy so I wanted to hide that and when I was done with this it really reminded me of a pretty wedding centerpiece or maybe for a bridal shower or something like that so you definitely don't have to put all this in there and maybe I should have stopped but I still liked it and usually less is more but in this case I think more is more so make a handle , I'm just going to take my nautical rope and I'm going to hot glue it to each of the sides of the roof and then I'm going to cover it with some leaves because Lord knows there are a lot of them and then I'm just going to put a cross on the inside and it was done and here it is all finished and I still love the fact that it's very

farmhouse

and buffalo plaid hydrangeas and burlap are three of my favorite things, so I think this would be really pretty at a bridal shower. or a wedding, I think it would be really nice with a candle inside too, of course, you wouldn't want to light it, but maybe one of those battery operated ones, so I know it's a little big on the top, but I still like it. love it and I hope you like it too for our next project we will use one of these rectangular plastic trays, two of these plastic cubes and there are three in a pack, this large wooden cross in natural wood and then eight of these blocks Jenga and more. a piece of foam board, some cotton swabs and some lamb's ear, these are all scraps I had on hand, a small notebook or note cards and a couple of pencils, some Waverly white chalk paint and ink and then I'm going to use my Cricut also

explore

the air.
I'm so excited about this look the color is so beautiful and then some black and white vinyl and then my hot glue gun, scissors, my knife and a ruler so the first thing I wanted to do was pull one apart. of my cubes with a foam core board, so I just eyeballed it. I'm not measuring here. I'm just using this as a ruler and I'm going to cut it out with my knife and then stick it inside the cube and hot glue the edges so it stays in place and this will serve as a place to put my papers or my note cards and my pencils and then we have another area for something else, so now I'm going to paint my tray with my amazing Waverly white chalk paint, so I poured it in there and then I started painting.
I really only needed one coat, but I gave it two just to make sure it was completely covered and then I'm going to paint my little bells and I'm going to go ahead and paint my cubes because I want them to have the same finish as the rest of the pieces. I first painted my cross white, but decided I didn't want it that way. So I'm going to go back and change that in a moment, so I love the polish wear look and I recently made a video that won't last, one of my top ten debacle videos, but the previous one I'd made. a three tier polish tray and I would like to spread out the different styles across the projects so they aren't too similar one after the other, but these little cubes were so cute and we were just crying out for that polish look so I'm doing in the same style, so I hope you don't mind, so now I'm just taking my Ginga pieces and I'm going to hot glue them together to make little legs with them, so it kind of stands up a little bit, but now I'm going to do that glaze effect using a sponge brush from Dollar Tree and make it nice and juicy with the pink or black paint.
It's hard to call it ink, but it's ink, but it's black and so on. I'm just going to go around the edges of my bucket and then I have to wait for it to dry before I can make the bottom so I can place it and it will be dry so after I finish my buckets then I'm going to make my tray and then I made my cross , but that's when I decided I wanted to do something else with it, so I needed my cross to be a little taller so my cubes would fit under the side bars, so I took a couple of pieces of gingka and glued them together hot, you could use super glue for this, but it's not going to show, so it didn't matter if it was a little puffy and separated, but I just put four of those under the base and that lifted. it was enough for everything to fit together perfectly so I decided I was going to paint it black and normally I wouldn't paint black but I think the way it turned out was perfect and it was exactly what I needed and it really pops against the white so I just painted the whole cross and I didn't paint the base to blend in with the base of the tray, so after it was completely painted and dry, I took my white chalk paint and then I just went around the edges of the cross all around and gave a worn look inside out, so this replaces sanding.
If you want something to look worn with black and white, do the opposite. the polish and I think it looks pretty so now I'm going to measure my decals that I'm going to put on my cubes and also on my cross and this will be the first time I'm using my Cricut

explore

air as well and I'm really excited but I grabbed my vinyl and with this one it's really cool because you can cut at the same time and use two different colors so I'm going to use the white vinyl on my black cross and then the black vinyl. of course, on my white cubes, so I'm going to print the words sentences for one of the cubes and scriptures for the other cube, like thisI used my utility knife to make the line to make the vinyl easier to remove and remove. up and so you can handle it a little better.
My hands are a little small, so having a lot of vinyl in my hand sometimes gets messy, so Cricket also sent me the little weeding tool and scraper, and I love the colors. They come in pink and green and blues and purples and I love all of their pastel colors so now I'm just lifting up the vinyl and then I'm going to peel it off and then I'm going to place my transfer tape on top of that and then I'm going to cut out those words and then I'm going to apply it to my cubes, so one of the things I noticed early on about using the Cricut Explore Air was also how easy it was to use the design space when I was building my designs and putting this together, it's all so simple. explanation on the computer regarding the icons and what to do.
I'll go into a little more depth when we get to another project, but it was very easy and I'm computer challenged so this was what I needed. Alley, they also sent me an EZ press 2 which is the iron on that you can make heat transfer vinyl with so I'm excited to be able to use that very soon for some upcoming projects too so now I'm putting the word in my bucket and because it has that conical shape in the cube. I cut little slits between the letters so it can be rounded and go around the cube shape and this is good for anything that is curved or not completely straight and then I took the air out just to have some room because there was more transfer tape overlapping , so you can add it later so now I'm going to remove the transfer tape and then replace it and then do the same thing on the prayer cube so now I'm going through the same process using the white vinyl and this was a little more complicated because I have words that will go up and down the cross as well as side to side, so what is this?
This is all just a way to have your prayers and scriptures in one place, so if someone has asked you to pray for them about something, write it down and put it in the bucket. If you have a sentence, write it down and put it up. put it in the cube if you need encouragement or someone in the family needs encouragement, take a scripture out of the scripture cube or if you hear a scripture or learn one and think it would be good for someone else to hear it, write it down and put it in. in the bucket, so it's just a way to keep it all together and keep Jesus at the forefront of your mind and like the Cross says, come all of you who are weary, which is Matthew 11:28 and he will give you rest, and from That's what this whole project is about.
It's not just about that, but it's also cute, so I just measure to see where the center of my tray is and I'm going to put my cross back a little bit and then I'm going to grab some lamb's ears. and my cotton are actually called Cotton Bulls and I'm going to attach them with my hot glue a little bit to the right just to give the farm a little bit more cuteness and then I'm going to stick my cubes right under the cross beams of the cross and then I put my notebook my pencils preferably in black in the slot in the back and then that's it and here it is all finished and I really love this.
I always liked polish but this is even more special for what it is, it's super functional. for our spiritual life and when you see everything coming that you are tired of, what else could give you more strength than prayer and the Scriptures? I love this and I really hope you do too for an upcoming project we will be using this wreath from Dollar Tree Square. form some random cardstock in beiges, off-white, taupe white, some black, some white hydrangeas from Dollar Tree. We will also use the Cricut explore air two again, but not with vinyl, this time we will use our cardstock and cut it out. and then some more of that jute twine that I recycled from that tin pot and then my hot glue gun scissors and my utility knife and to show you how easy it is, there are two cables that come with the Cricut Explore Air: one is the AC Adapter which just plugs into the back it only has two holes so you have a 50-50 chance of getting it right of course I put mine in the right place but the other one had the other way around, but again, 50-50 chance, but Those are the only two things you have to plug into the back of the machine and then the other side you're going to plug into the wall.
I'm sure you've done it before and then the other side is the USB. cable that will connect to your computer or laptop, this is also bluetooth capable so you can do this from your phone if you have an iPhone with bluetooth, so I'm going to open it just by pressing the open button and it opens very quietly. and smoothly it's very sleek even if a machine can be sleek and even has a convenient little storage area for your weeding tools and your blades and then the knob is so simple it just says vinyl cardstock fabric whatever, you just turn the knob so I love that it's super easy to use and then just your charge and your go and your pause and your power and that's it, this machine actually cuts 100 different materials, like iron-on HTV, vinyl paper , glossy paper, fabric bound with cork.
I will also draw for you or score if you are making cards, so there are so many things you can do. What we are doing in this project is cutting flowers, so I watched a bunch of different YouTube tutorials on the Cricut explore air. -and there's one that I think is one of the best is Jennifer Maker and she's really good with Cricut with all the Cricut machines and she was showing us how to make flowers so I'm going to use those flowers. in this project, but she has a link to bring the flowers directly to your design space and it's free with your design space, so I'll link her channel to that video in the description box below so you can see it and See it once. the machine cuts the flower, it's spiral shaped so I'm just using some reverse action pliers to grab the end and then start rolling it, it's like quilling but not so once you roll it all up you're going to put a a little bit of glue on the back and let it open up a little bit so it fits into the little round part at the end of your spiral and that will make sense in just a second and there are Ten different types of flowers in this particular project , they call it a cartridge, although it's not really a cartridge, but I'm going to do this with a whole bouquet of flowers anyway.
I really wanted to use this square wreath shape because I found those. at the Dollar Tree and I was really excited to see something that was different so the problem was I had to cut a lot of these flowers so it took a little bit of time but it was definitely worth it I think in the end so As you can. See, I just put my cardstock on the Matt and then trimmed it and then you just peel it off and then you start rolling, so to make it a little bit easier, one of the things that Jennifer Maker had recommended was to make your own twisting tool using a skewer and putting some electrical tape on the end with enough room to put the flour or whatever you're twisting on and that way it will stay even on the bottom so it's a little easier to I managed and it was a lot faster to roll them, so I kept cutting and rolling and finally I think I got about 50 flowers for my wreath, so I timed my flowers to be about eight inches square and so on my sheets. of cardstock I had about three and a half inches left on each end so I used that to wrap my wreath shape so I just wrapped it and then hot glued it and cut it out this isn't really going to show too much. but just to give it a base I wanted to make sure there was something I could stick my flowers to so they would stay in place and then for the corners I just cut out little L shapes and tucked them under the rings on the side. and that way everything was covered nicely so I'm going to start gluing my flowers to my wreath and I only did one color at a time so I could disperse them evenly throughout the wreath so I started with my whites and I wanted to make sure I didn't put the same type of flower next to each other or the same color, so doing it one color at a time makes it a lot easier, so I thought of it as a couple of different rows, so I glued some on the inside of the wreath and then something towards the outside or in the middle, but just so it doesn't look like a full line around the wreath and then I'm going to go back with my final color black, which I just had a few of those, and then I'll add my hydrangeas to either of the open spots that were there and that just acts as a filler and gives it another dimension so that It's not just paper, so now I'm going to make a bow with the jute twine and I'm going to put it in the bottom right corner, slanted diagonally so I made six loops on each side and used a chenille stem to tie it all together just because it's a little bit heavier as far as jute twine goes so it's not easy to make a tight knot with such a twine thick so I just use my chenille stem and wrap it around the back and then I'm going to take some more twine and wrap it around it and that's how this sweet wreath turned out.
I'm so in love with this, it's so soft and pretty and you should really see it in real life because there's so much dimension and texture and I love these muted colors, kind of a monochrome palette and then the black flowers just add that accent that just pops , so I really love this and I loved using my Cricut and I have a lot of plans ahead. There are so many things you can do with it. I will have the direct link to purchase this machine in the description box below but they haven't shipped it to me yet so until then if you want to look it's

cricut

.com but I will also have it available in my Amazon store and There's a nice little package that costs around three hundred and twenty

dollar

s that has the vinyl and all the equipment and tools in the starter kit, so it's a little pricey but of course you know it's worth the investment.
In my opinion, and you know, I never mention anything I don't really believe in, so that's the only reason I'm showing you this and one of the reasons I decided to look into it was because of all the questions you guys had asked me. been shipping, the only Cricut I had was the first generation which is the same one I'm doing in the giveaway, it's the one with the little cartridges they actually put in the machine so no computer required so I hope it has sense. I hope you got a lot out of this and learned a lot about Cricut.
Now for this project we will use two of the large hula hoops from Dollar Tree. They come in three different sizes but I'm using the large ones, some ultra flat matte black spray paint and then you'll also need two pieces of scrap 1x6 wood or you can buy eight new screws, a rotary sander, a drill, a screw , duct tape and utility. knife and then if you have a Michael J that would work too so no I could do this myself you guys can do it yourselves but he was at

home

so I used it so the first thing you guys are going to do is get it done . aluminum tape that is on the hula hoops and I used a knife and it was a little difficult to start at first but then once it started it became a lot easier so there is a joint where the hula hoop joins and I just took some electrical tape and wrapped it and tried to make it as flat as I could because it's going to be seen somewhere on our shelf, so I just wrapped it a few times and then I'm going to take it outside and spray paint it. matte black spray paint, so I showed you this before, but this little handle that goes on top of the spray paint can is useful because when I'm spray painting my finger gets tired, so I don't know if that's just old .
It gets old, but it really makes it a harder job than it really is because you're spraying for so long, so anyway that's kind of solved that problem, so now I'm going to measure my shelves and see where I need to cut them. and where I want them to go and then I took it outside and I put it on the miter saw and I just cut the two pieces twenty seven and a half inches is what I came up with, if you're using big hula hoops, like that Like I said, there's two more sizes, so if you need to fill a smaller wall, you can get the smaller hula hoops and simply customize them to be the size you need.
This will actually be for a living room renovation my daughter and I are doing. I'm going to make and it's for my brother and his wife so we're going to make that video very soon within the next few weeks so anyway now I'm going to take my wood and use my old wax and I mixed it with a little bit white and then I started painting it on my boards and then cleaned it up. I tried it with just the antique wax but it was a little too dark and I think because the wood was a yellowish color, it somehow made the stain look a little redder so I didn't want the red stain so which I took the white and added it to my old wax and then once I put it in there I took a dry brush with some white. and I just went over it, rubbed italso and finally after mixing it all together I went back a third time with a super super dry brush just to give it some of the white stripes that you have so now I'm going to mark where the shelf is going to go on the first hula hoop and I just used a pencil to mark it and then Michael J used a drill bit to drill into the hula hoop and then he took a smaller drill bit to make a pilot hole and then he put the screw through the hoop and into the wood and he did that on both sides and then on both shelves and then he turned it over and used the other hoop and did the same thing and you'll notice it has a big gauze bandage on it. on her hand she had a small cut but there were no band aids available so it wasn't bad so this is how it turned out and this is not coming into my house like I said it's from my brother and sister in law but I love how it turned out and I didn't paint the nails because I thought maybe it matched the wood quite well but I have since changed my mind so I will touch them up with some black paint to cover the nails or screws so I have this hanging from two nails where there is another picture which appears here normally, so it's only temporary, but like that.
I could show you that I love how this turned out and I love my paint job on the wood. I think I need to do it again at some point, so I love how it turned out. I can't wait for you to see what we end up doing. in that living room and it's all going to be

decor

ating on the cheap and using everything we can from the Dollar Tree and we'll have a final price of how much it will end up costing so I can't wait to post it. For you guys, I hope you're all staying safe, don't forget to hit the subscribe button below if you're not already subscribed, as well as the little bell so you can get notified every time I upload a new video.
