Giuliani At The Center Of A Criminal Investigation

Alright, let's move on to the other big breaking news and it's Rudy Giuliani, which we made fun of at the last minute. We now have Tom Winter, our investigative correspondent, with us to talk about it and Tom, the initial report was that Rudy Giuliani's lawyers have been informed that he is now the subject of the

investigation

and we have confirmed that this right is correct. I spoke with Robert Costello. Who is Rudy Giuliani's lawyer? Who says yes, they were informed that they were informed today in a telephone conversation from one of the prosecutors. working on this case for Rudy Giuliani's local council, so he has some people who are familiar with Georgia law specifically.

Costello says they were told he is now the target of this. Costello notes that they were initially told that Giuliani was a material witness that It was an effort to force Giuliani to testify in the New York court proceedings, so basically the people in Georgia who are investigating this. The Fulton County District Attorney's office went to the New York courts to try to force Rudy Giuliani to testify before this grand jury and they said he was a material witness now they have been told verbally that in fact he is the objective of that

investigation

now, if it were a Federal Reserve investigation, I could tell you the difference between subject and target, it's spelled out, it's in the US Attorney's manual, I hear.

Chuck Rosenberg in my ear now says to go check the manual, but I would know that off the top of my head, our colleague Blaine Alexander is in the district attorney's office to try to get a definition on this or what this means specifically for Giuliani. presumably it means that this is now someone who is in the spotlight and could potentially face a recommendation for charges because remember this grand jury is not a grand jury that can vote to indict anyone who is involved in this investigation, they are going to release a report and from there, a separate grand jury would have to look at this and decide if there were charges either way.

It appears to be some sort of indication that this investigation, which focuses on whether anyone in the orbit of former President Trump or the former president was involved in any type of effort to interfere in the 2020 election in Fulton County, Georgia, uh, they at least see Giuliani at this point as someone who could have the potential for

criminal

exposure, we'll just have to see where this all stands. Two questions, I know you're going to ask one: Will Giuliani still appear before the grand jury this week? Costello says yes, in fact, that's the plan right now his testimony had been postponed because of the surgery Giuliani had and then until now.

As for whether or not he will get into the topic of some kind of conversation between former President Trump and Giuliani, he called it delusional. That's a quote that there would be some type of testimony about that because of attorney-client privilege, they say. They have notified the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.
