iOS 16.5 Beta 1 Released - What’s New?

Mar 23, 2024
Just one day after the release of iOS 16.4, Apple is quickly back with the release of iOS 16.5

beta

1 to registered developers and soon to public

beta

testers. Along with this iOS release we also got the first beta for iPad OS 16.5 Macos 13.4 watch OS 9.5 tvos 16.5 and homepod Os 16.5 but of course in this video we are talking about iOS and iPad OS 16.5 beta 1. So first , take a look at the size of this update: it came to 5.46 gigabytes on my 14 pro Max. that size will be big if you come from a public version like 16.4, which was in this case, it's always this big, so if we go to our settings to check the new invoice number General around 16.5, we can see that the new number build number is 20f 5028e so we have an e at the end of the build number indicating that we have some beta versions before the final one as expected and as for the modem firmware that has also been updated to 1.70. 00 on my device and again that number could be different depending on your device, okay now

what

's new here in iOS 16.5 beta 1 and the first thing I want to talk about is installing this update because if you go to your settings , the general software updates and then beta updates right here, if you are someone who hacked the developer profile and got it for free without paying, you may not have received this update.

I have heard from numerous people that those who had the developer option like they had the public and developer option before without paying, now only have the public beta option, so it seems that Apple is now starting to remove Pirates from updates of developer. Now you can still install this with the iOS 16 developer profile, the hacked version of that, but it will probably just disappear after the update and you'll basically have to reinstall the profile every time you want to get a new update, so it's very cool and also i saw some people saying they got the developer beta even though they don't pay and also don't have the profile so it seems like a mess right now but again i wouldn't expect any major changes in this section and in terms of hacking profiles until iOS 17, I feel like that's when we'll see the big change where those who don't pay for the developer profile or the developer betas you know won't get the developer betas no matter

what

, but we'll talk about that when it comes the moment.

More Interesting Facts About,

ios 16 5 beta 1 released what s new...

As for what's new here in 16.5 beta 1, of course, I've talked about this several times in the past, don't expect anything major with 16.5, especially after the big 16.4 updates were

released

yesterday, so they included a bunch of new features and would. I expect 16.5 to focus mainly on bug fixes and security updates, that doesn't mean there won't be new features because we'll probably see a 16.4.1 version as well, but don't expect anything crazy, but I wanted to. I'm talking about the first thing I found that was new in this update and that's in the news section so if you go into the News app you'll see at the bottom we have a new sports tab right there in the middle so I'm pretty.

I'm sure this is new, I haven't seen it on any other device I have that's on 16.4, so now this is your little section inside news, which is pretty cool and on the top left we have all the sports, you could actually filter this. for any sport you want to watch, so if I want to watch March Madness right there, I can do that and I'll watch everything just from March Madness and no other sports and the design is amazing. I actually prefer this design to Bleacher Report or ESPN. I really like the look of this. Here you also have a featured section that will show you featured videos of different games.

You have the 4u section that will only show you an article that might interest you along with different articles here under conversation. For starters, this update also allows you to record your screen by simply asking Siri to record the screen so you can see the screen recording starting right above, at the top, you can see it recording now it looks a little glitchy, the little one recording icon is small. You also can't expand it by tapping and holding it like you can in 16.4 in older versions when you record the screen just from the control center, so if we swipe down in the control center you can also see that it doesn't. it shows that we are recording the screen and we still have the option to start a screen recording right there, so it seems like this doesn't fully work, yes it's not fully available yet, but it's still a beta version and it's just a new feature. which has been added where you can record the screen through Siri oh and by the way you can stop the screen recording by asking Siri to also stop the screen recording boom and that's it and it even says done right there and shows the popup that has been saved to photos Apple also

released

Apple Pay later today, so it requires iOS 16.4 or higher, so it will also work on 16.5.
However, it's only rolling out to select users in the US right now, but you can see what the UI looks like. It actually looks pretty good so if you are someone who likes to spread out your purchases and not pay a large lump sum up front you might be interested in this and the design looks pretty impressive so we should see that be implemented for everyone in the future. weeks, but for now it's only for select users in the US, however we don't have any sign of an Apple Card savings account yet, so of course that's where you'll be able to collect the interest on your Apple Cash card right here, which you can see.
I have a decent sized balance here so I've been waiting for this for a while but I guess because of all the problems with banks going on right now that's probably why we don't have this yet function. Apple also mentioned today on its developer site that starting April 25, all apps will need to be compiled with xcode 14.1 or later to ensure compatibility with the latest iOS 16 and other operating systems that are now reverting to iOS 16.4. I also wanted to mention that the notification center lag animation is still present here in 16.5 so I know some people had this issue before and you can see when I swipe up here that we have a little bug with the notification center , so I'm going to slide down and then up and you can see the little delay right there for the other bubbles coming in, so it's still an issue here on 16.5, some users have that on 16.4.
I didn't have it on my main device, but for some reason. here in 16.5 I see that lag and that little stutter in the notification center almost always, not always but almost always, and looking at the release notes for this update, we have a new feature and it's related to the launcher app. and it says that a shared manager in a home can now pair and add important accessories and then just below that we have four known issues that are also related to the home app and fortunately the shared manager has workarounds. As far as performance and battery life go, everything feels great so far on 16.5 beta 1.
Again, it's only been a couple of hours since I used the software, so it's very hard to judge right away, but I will say that the Geekbench 6 scores were higher on both single-core and multi-core compared to 16.4, which is a great sign, so we got a 25 23 on single-core and a 6355 on multi-core and, Honestly, as far as battery life goes, I wouldn't expect a huge difference from the 16.4. If there's any kind of difference, whether it's better or worse, I'll let you know in my weekly Apple episode and finally let's talk about what to expect next from Apple, so the next one will most likely be iOS 16.5 beta 2 and i guess.
We're on a two-week release schedule right now, so if that's the case, we should see beta 2 of 16.5 right here on April 11th, I guess maybe the week of the 10th, if not 11, it should be that week now there is always the possibility of being on a weekly release schedule, although it is rare, it may be released next week, however I assume it will be on the 11th and then as for the final release for iOS 16.5, it would. I don't expect 16.5 to be released until sometime in May, which means we should see 16.4.1 sometime in April. That's not a confirmation, that's not a guarantee, but my guess is we'll see a 16.4. .1 sometime in April to fix some security vulnerabilities and you know, fix some existing issues that users might be facing and what's crazy is that we're just a few months away from seeing iOS 17 so we should see iOS 17 beta. 1 at the global developer conference, which is usually the first or second week of June, if I had to guess, it will be in the first week, June 5, however, we do not have invites for that global developer conference yet, and talking about that. that we should really see them very soon, we may see invitations for WWDC next week.
I would expect to see them next week or maybe even the week after that, but we should see those invitations very soon for the next conference in early June, so there's that. IOS 16.5 beta 1. Again, there's not much to do here, however, if I find anything new in terms of features or changes, I'll let you know in my next weekly Apple episode, but if you've been following me for a while, would you do it. I really wouldn't be surprised to see not many changes here in 16.5 beta 1 because I've been telling you for the past few weeks not to expect much with 16.5 in general and honestly I wouldn't be surprised to see 16.4 be the end. big update for iOS 16.
I think we will still see more features and changes. I just don't think we'll see as big an update as we saw with 16.4. I don't think there is. Another update with more than 60 new features and changes. Apple's main focus right now is iOS 17. And I will also be posting a video about iOS 17 very soon, but anyway I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, I would appreciate it. If you give it a thumbs up too, of course, as always, make sure to subscribe to the channel if you want to see more iOS update videos like this, hopefully they'll be more exciting in the future, but anyway, thanks again for Look guys, see you. soon
