Mar 29, 2024
Alright ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to my Tesla channel. My name is Jeremiah and in this video I'll go over 17

hidden

feature tips for the Model 3 and Model Y that every new or existing owner should have soon.

know

and

know

that this video will not show you for the tenth time all the voice commands to open the charging port door, the

hidden

features

and the tips in this video that will really interest you. I guarantee you will learn something or two after this video, especially the last few, so let's start with the HVAC system first. This one is pretty well known, but we're starting small.

Most people, when trying to turn the heating on or off, will open the menu and then press the power button. icon, but did you know that you can actually long-press the fan icon to instantly turn your HVAC system on or off? Well, now, something a little spicier. Have you ever wondered what would happen if your Tesla hit zero percent while you were driving well? the answer is nothing, at least all newer Teslas or those made in the last few years come with a three kilowatt hour buffer at the bottom once it reaches zero percent now depending on your efficiency this may Be 10 to 20 if there are no more miles you can go, a better way to know when your car is about to break down is by looking at the region and consumption bar.

More Interesting Facts About,

Most people have seen the points on the region side when the region is limited due to cold weather. 100 or whatever, but these points will also appear on the consumption side that you essentially have until these points reach half the bar before your Tesla actually dies and it still won't die like it actually died and never did. . came back on but you won't be able to go any further now talking about those points in a limited region within a recent update Tesla added an option to fuse your friction brakes with regen once activated if the region is limited the car will fuse them Together the Regen and friction brakes will stop you without a problem, that way you can still fully enjoy one-pedal driving, even if the battery is very cold.

Next we have autopilot, lane change if you're like me and didn't do it. If you think autonomous driving was worth the fifteen thousand dollars Tesla was asking for, then this means you have to change lanes manually, but you may be doing it wrong when you want to make a lane change instead of turning off Autopilot and turning on the turn signals to change lanes. then turn off the turn signal and reengage autopilot. Do this with autopilot still engaged. Turn on the turn signal. Doing so will decrease the amount of wheel spin. Force

need

ed to disengage autopilot and then begin changing lanes.

You will hear the car beep once telling you that Autopilot has been disabled but the adaptive cruise control is still active, meaning the car will maintain its current speed as you change lanes, slow down and accelerate for traffic. , all without you having to touch the pedals once you are in your Lane, double tap down on the stock to re-engage autopilot. Doing so will automatically turn off the turn signal. The limit is building on this, almost everyone knows about slow cruising for one mile per hour increments and fast cruising for 5 mile per hour increments, but did you know that while on autopilot, if you use the throttle to accelerate manually, can you accelerate?
Scroll to immediately increase your speed to your current highest speed. The next step will be the height of your trunk. Some people know this, but most do it wrong if you are ever in a situation where you don't want your trunk to open completely. This way, first open the trunk and let it open fully, then pull it down to the desired height, then press and hold the trunk close button, the one on the inside, until you hear a beep. Now, every time you open the trunk, it will. just go to that height. I've seen some people quickly press it at whatever height they want the trunk to stop and then press and hold the button, but you don't have to do that, just pull it down.
Now let's dive into the phone app. Very fast, there are many things this app can do and one of my favorite things is the quick controls. Most people only have 4 more quick controls, but did you know you can have five go into edit mode and drag the fifth quick control you want? control on the far right whenever you see the highlighted section appear just outside the screen. Congratulations, you now have five quick checks. I also thought I would mention that the fifth quick control appears in the widget, now talking about quick controls with one of the latest Tesla software updates, you now have the option to open the driver's side door through the app.
This is very useful if the driver's side door handle ever fails or freezes. The latest from the phone app and this is It's not really for the Tesla app, but rather for your phone. Enter any normal navigation or Maps system you use to have Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc. Find the destination you want to go here, you will see the Tesla icon, click on it and it will be sent. your Tesla's address and it will automatically populate in your car's navigation. This is a very very useful feature, no matter how good Tesla's car navigation system is, some people will still prefer to search for it on their phone. proper supercharger labeling We've all heard that if there are enough stalls open we should never park next to someone, this is true and false if you go to a supercharger that is labeled 150 kilowatts aka V2 than my previous one.
The statement is correct, this is because Stahl shares the power. The stalls are labeled in pairs, so 1A 1B is a pair 2A 2B is a pair 3A 3B is a pair, so on, if someone is parked in 1A and no one is parked in 1B, then the person in 1A will get the power maximum your car will allow or the maximum power the charger will output, but in that same scenario, if you went into 1B, you would divide the amount of power being generated in half. so that both occupants would get a maximum of 72.5 kilowatts, it used to be priority, so whoever plugged in first would always get more power than whoever plugged in second, but that's since been changed, so you only park in the same pair of positions as another person if there is There is already at least one person in each position, now if the charger you are going to use is labeled 250 kilowatts, also known as V3, throw everything I just said out the window , they don't share power, you can park wherever you stay on the topic of supercharging if you're on a road trip or just trying to be fast, stop charging at one hundred percent or the top of the battery for example, 20 of your battery will take you the same distance no matter what part of your battery comes from one hundred to eighty percent or thirty to ten percent, but what's different is that the charging time from 80 to 100 is much longer. longer than 10 to 30.
When the trip planner in your car tells you that you can continue your trip, it is strategically calculating the farthest supercharger you can reach with the lowest state of charge upon arrival and this is because, like I just said, you charge faster at a lower state of charge and stop more often with faster charging trips. It will always be better to stop less frequently on longer hauling trips. Now I understand overcharging when the car predicts the arrival state of charge at your next destination by less than 10 percent, so it's completely fine to charge an extra five ten percent just in case, but anything over that. and well, you're wasting your time.
Well, now let's jump into the driver's seat. Did you know that you don't actually

need

to stop your car completely and hit the brake to shift gears, as long as you're going five miles per hour? or less, you can shift from reverse to reverse and vice versa. This is very useful for quickly backing into places, three-point turns and much more while staying inside the car, let's go ahead and take a look at your screen. Most people use the screen by just tapping whatever they're trying to do, but did you know that some things on the screen actually have swipe gestures instead of tapping left or right to control the temperature?
HVAC, press and drag from left to right? The volume is another, just drag left or right. the volume is mainly for the previous Cinder, since the driver has the small scroll wheel, now the navigation also has these gestures. If you have your home or work address set, you can simply swipe in the navigation box to immediately navigate to destinations. The car can also tell you where you are, so if you're at home, swipe to the Right and down will take you to work and vice versa, if you are at work, swiping right and down will take you home.
Now most people know that you can change. between battery percentage and Miles just by tapping it, but did you know that the battery reading it tells you is extremely inaccurate and should not be used except in two specific use cases? The miles it shows are your EPA range or what Tesla thinks you are. You will subject yourself to their testing conditions 99 of the time you will never get what Tesla thinks you should get under their conditions because their conditions are different than yours so having inaccurate information on the screen is pointless; The battery percentage, however, is accurate or at least.
At least it's much more accurate than miles. The only time miles should be used is if you're charging at one hundred percent and want to compare what your EPA was to what it is now to measure something like degradation, but even that can be extremely spotty. Because of all the different factors that come into play, the other reason would be to compare it to your estimated range to get an indicator of your efficiency. Speaking of estimated range, this is the range you should consider. You can find it by going into the The power app sets it to the last 30 miles and it will tell you how far to go based on your last 30 miles of driving.
This is much more precise. Now let's get back to the trunk real quick if you ever find yourself in a situation. where your charger is stuck in the car and the car is unlocked, go to your trunk and look for a strap, pulling this will manually release the charger locking mechanism, if you have never had to use it it will probably be hidden, but is it good? Now let's talk about something that I've seen tons of misinformation about whether that's on other Tesla YouTubers etc., it has to do with that supposed handbrake and you're going to want to hear a lot.
Many people know that if you press and hold the park button located on the gear selector, your car will make some metallic sounds and a red P will appear on your screen. Everyone I've seen talk about this says it's putting on the handbrake. so activating all four brakes by making them tighter or whatever, this is false every time you drive down the road and press the brake pedal, this is applying the front brakes and then every time you stop and put the car in parking, this is applying the brakes. rear brakes Teslas do not have a normal park gear that you would find on normal internal combustion cars, they can only park by applying the brakes if you hold the park button on the gear selector while parked, all it will do is disengage the rear brakes and activate them again, that's why some people hear a strange strange sound and think that you are applying all four brakes or squeezing the brakes or whatever, they are used to hearing that the rear brakes only activate when entering the park or disengage when leaving park, but not both back to back at the same time, so yes, holding the park button while parked is pointless because the parking brake is already on, the rear brakes being the only time that he must do it.
Press and hold this button when parked if a pop-up appears on the screen telling you that the handbrake functions have been degraded, this message could be caused by a number of different things, but just to make sure your car is actually parked because remember that Teslas are really only parked when their rear brakes are on, hold the button to disengage and re-engage, but that's still not the main use case of holdingThe park buttons, their main purpose is that if your front brakes fail you can't just coast and you will have to stop if that ever happens, simply press and hold the park button to engage the rear brakes.
This will stop you very quickly. Now, if you're going at higher speeds, it's probably not a good idea to do it right away. have them kick in and stop you immediately, so you'll want to decelerate slowly. You can do this by pressing and holding several times back to back to activate, deactivate, activate, deactivate, activate and deactivate until the car slowly stops. All the Tesla tips and tricks videos I've seen that get this completely wrong are mind-blowing, it's literally an emergency-only use of this life-saving feature and they're getting it wrong. I'll have a video linked below. from another YouTuber who actually goes out and tries this, I highly recommend you check it out.
Okay, we're up to number 17 and no, the last hidden feature or tip doesn't tell you to subscribe so you don't miss out anymore. content or go see my store is to read its manual.
