gallon

turtle

tank

with my Diamondback turtle Hoku. I haven't done an update on this

tank

in a while. So we're going to talk about some of the things that are there and of course we're going to look at Hoku because he's definitely one of your guys' favorites so why don't you hit the subscribe button, hit the notification bell and let's take a look? baby groot, okay, so if you take a look here you can see the full tank.

This is a 40

gallon

player again, so it's three feet long by 16 inches tall by 16 inches deep either that or it's 18 inches tall, I can't remember if. It's 16 or 18 inches, but anyone can let me know in the comments anyway. Anyway, you can see Hoku back here. He is my Diamondback president of three and a half years. I think he's three and a half at this point. You can see it floating there. about being adorable and this is his tank so I guess let's start from the bottom and work our way up so first of all the stand he's on is an Edsel muscle stand I can't remember which one it is but in It didn't actually fit properly, which is a shame, so we had to cut this plywood so it could sit on top and also evenly distribute all the weight.

More Interesting Facts About,

It can definitely handle all the weight, it's just not the sturdiest. of things like if I had to do it again, I might do it differently, although I really like the way these muscle racks look, by the way, that's an extra tank. I don't plan on using it for anything right now, but we just finished Anyway, I have some other equipment in there, that's the support and then for the substrate, we have crushed coral. I bought it at the pet store. This is just regular crushed coral and the reason I use crushed coral is because Hoku, this is a diamondback turtle here, and so on.

They actually have a specialized grinder plate and I don't know if he'll actually let me look at it. Okay, focus, well he won't let me look at his mouth right now, but in his mouth they have specialized grinding plates that help them. They crunch like shells of crustaceans and clams and all sorts of things they normally eat in the wild, so having crushed coral helps wear that dish down in your mouth, which is why I'm using crushed coral, otherwise I wouldn't use it for a turtle. because there is a risk of impaction. I've actually seen it pass crushed coral very well, that's how I know it's doing well in this substrate, so that's the substrate.

These rocks are actually from a rock bin they let me fill. a 5 gallon bucket for dollars and fifty cents, so it was like my cheap decoration for the stones and then some of this wood that I collected and then some of that I bought, like this middle piece and then these two tall pieces that I bought the pet store and then all these other little pieces and that kind of long piece right back here, which was actually found and boiled and treated before being added to the tank, moving over to this side, you can see we have a heater. this is an eheim heater i think this heater is 125 watts and since it is a glass heater i have a heater guard so i don't want the turtle to break it and that heater guard was from amazon and then the heater it's from the pet store here you can see the filter entrance there's some kind of sponge in there sorry the light behind it is very bright but this filter sponge is from the aquarium coop and it just helps filter out some of those larger pieces of debris and then I occasionally wash them when I do water changes as well and then I also have another heater here just so I can have a place for it because I actually took it out of this tank here, which is kind of just Java It's covered in moss right now, I don't know if you can see the guppy right there, but this tank actually houses a lot of white clouds, which is why I took out that heater and put it in this tank, it's kind of hanging. here for the moment so there's that and also hoku again for the filter.
I'm using an aqua clear 70. There are also some pothos inside. This filter has worked very well for me. I haven't had any problems in a long time. I do my maintenance and this is a power filter that hangs on the tank. I love it, it runs relatively quiet so it's great and then for this light I actually remember what kind of light it is. It's just an LED light that I put on this side for added sake and then I don't know if you can actually see here there's an LED light strip that actually clips onto the edge of the tank so it lights up the other side of this tank so you can see just below here is an LED Light Strip, so that's my lighting in this tank for my resting area.
I only have one of those linen pen-shaped seating areas. I think I bought this one on Amazon. Where did I buy it anyway? You can buy it in many different places for your pet. store and I actually cut this piece of plywood because it's meant to fit similar 12 inch tanks so my tank is actually 16 inches wide and this is meant to fit 12 inch tanks so I actually cut this piece of plywood so I could Sit on top you can see Hoku has a lot of room to sunbathe and then for the lights I have a Zuma double dome we have UVB on that side heat on that side and that's your lighting situation, oh, and then.
One, actually, one last thing, all of the lights on this tank, so the warm-up lights and then also the LED lights on the tank, all of these lights are on a timer, so if I come down here and look back, actually There is a timer that I actually have. times all my lights so the lights go on and off at the same time every day so I guess that's it and that's our little

tour

of Hoku's tank like I said I've had it for the last three years , he was about six months old when I bought him, so he's three and a half years old and he's fine if the camera wanted to focus on him.
He's a very fun turtle, so that's the
