How To Introduce Yourself And Others

I'm surprised because I've been to so many different business functions and networking events, and you see that entrepreneurs and business owners are professionals, they know people. Very often it is quite uncomfortable. They don't know how to

introduce

themselves. They don't know how to give the right handshake. They get close to people, maybe not so extreme.

But sometimes they are not so well equipped with exactly what you just said, so today I want to give you some advice: When you meet someone, how can you make that good first impression? How do you present

? You may want to

introduce

this person. What's the right way to do that in a type of business, in a more formal setting, okay? So when you meet someone, like a stranger or someone you just met, you don't want to get too excited. You don't want to be too anxious. Like, for example, you meet someone: "Hello, nice to meet you!" You're shaking their hand like, "Oh yeah, it's nice to meet you!" You don't want to do that.

You want to be nice and calm. You want to be a professional. If you're an introvert and you're going to meet someone, take your time, right? Slow down, just put your hand, just "Hey." And you can, let me give you a very simple way to introduce yourself. "My name is..." And if you want to take your time, I notice that a lot of people when they enter their name, especially if your name, it's harder to pronounce. Or maybe with your last name it's not so common, right? Very, very simple. Very, very simple. When you introduce other people, sometimes what you want to do is "Let me introduce you to my friend." Good, and you want to introduce them. If you want to set this person up for success, make a proper introduction. You're almost there: "Hey, this is my friend John." From here you are presenting, like this, and from here. Something very, very simple. But note that most people don't do it well.

So when you introduce yourself, sometimes you can say, "It's nice to meet you." Sometimes you can say "Nice to meet you." It depends on the configuration. But you have to practice it.
