Mar 20, 2024
I

have

a new C8 Corvette. These radiators break down very quickly. Let me show you how to protect them. So let's take a look inside the box, but I'm going to be honest with you. The first thing I want to tell you is the presentation of your product is impeccable, it is very similar to that of acs, very well packaged, very good presentation, but look at this, they greet you with the C8 logo and some of the hardware, but look at this, these They will protect your radiators. in your ca Corvette, in my opinion, better than anything else available on the market today.

Our group of guys at Scrape Armor

have

recently let me know exactly why their product is the best product to buy here. The most important is that these are. officially licensed by GM, but beyond that, you saw the unboxing process a second ago with Jason, all the hardware that's there in this little box here is also a tool kit, so everything you need, including The tools to install it are in this box. You don't have to go out and buy anything, you don't have to do anything special, but what makes these things really special is their shape, so if you can see they're not flat and neither is the back. of your radiator

grill

s so they will fit perfectly against your OEM hardware to ensure a perfect fit, they are also insulated so as you can see here there are little rubber insulators around each place that have a screw that holds them. keeps in place.

More Interesting Facts About,

Yes, I said screw. These are not zip tied, so any of the zip tie installation methods out there will not come with a GM warranty. I can promise you that they will look much better there, they install much easier, and they install very securely, so let's show you. how to install these things, the first thing we're going to do is remove all the screws and the divider and then come back to this piece here, so I think there's like 14 screws, there's quite a few. 15. So you don't actually have to remove all the screws on the splitter, although we'll only remove them this far, right.

Sorry, so with the splitter screws out, it's going to go ahead and start with these t15s like Well, this looks like seven millimeters will be random as to whether it's there or not, apparently sometimes it's seven millimeters, sometimes it's all t15 from what I've heard, but we're going to do them all back here. and then this whole panel will come off to give us access to the radiator, so we go over to the passenger side, like I said, on the driver's side, sometimes these are T15 screws, other times they're seven millimeters, on the driver's side, one was a seven millimeter and one was a T15 but on the passenger side they are both seven millimeter hex bolts so yeah its totally random how it will look when you get under your car okay so with all the screws out you can move on. and just pull the panel out from underneath it will just maneuver out from under the actual painted part of the bumper maybe there we go look at all that dirt look at all that dirt dude my car is dirty the car is incredibly new and There's dirt in there, this is exactly why you need the radiator

grill

guard, so all of this here is from flying and hitting the radiator and then landing in this little area here, so anything to stop the bigger chunks of rocks and stuff. avoiding flying around and hitting the radiators is a good thing, so with that panel out we can go up under here and you can see very clearly the radiator, this is where we're going to do a lot of the work, so we're going to do it this way. bar right here as you can see there are three screws that come from the back of the radiator towards the front of the car and the best part is the

armor

gives you a tool that you can get in there that you don't have.

To go get tools, this one is specifically very small to go between the radiator and the grille so you don't hit your hands too much, so Jason is going to go ahead and remove these now, so after removing the seven millimeter cylinder heads. screws from the front of the radiator, you're going to slide the bracket up into place, we already have the one in place here, it lines up with these three bolts and then it gives you these three holes here that the grille will attach to of

, so what? What we're doing now is replacing the seven millimeter bolts to attach this piece to the original part of the car, as well as the new bracket at the rear.
I'm just using my finger to squeeze it for now, yeah, next time. The step guys is going to be to remove that sticker right there, once we remove that we're going to go ahead and open up the adhesion promoter, clean that area and start sticking the brackets on the bottom, so after we remove that sticker, we're going to go ahead and take the included alcohol prep pads, place under here, clean everything that we're about to stick so it's as prepared as possible. The camera angles are a little tricky here, but just clean everything up as well as you can.
You can possibly do it with alcohol because we're also going to hit it with an adhesion promoter here in a second. In this case, Jason's car is pretty new, so he probably won't be very dirty down here and he really isn't, but again. just make sure you get this as clean as possible before hitting it with the adhesion promoter. I've been there, so we clean everything with alcohol. The next step is to go ahead and break out the alcohol or adhesion promoting pen and get it. ready to go at the bottom here, so there's a little end here that's kind of like fabric.
You're just going to clean this up on the end before you stick the double sided tape and what's the attachment point to the bottom of the radiator grille here, all good. So, with the adhesive promoter in place, we'll go ahead and remove the protective layer of the double-sided tape. Here we are ready to install this now. The scratched armor says this is a very heavy Bond 3M double sided tape with the adhesion promoter. in place once this is glued in place and both things have been done they say this is as strong as a real rivet so it won't go anywhere riveting so with the first bracket in your place, you can see here that there is actually a key. section on the back of the radiator grill right here that it will fit into and then just glue it into place.
Now the second one is this one here and it has this ledge. This boss will actually go here right against the cylinder head. part of the bumper, so right up against this piece, here, this raised part will be flush again so you know exactly when it's in place, so after taping all the brackets with double sided tape, this is next, As I said before in the video, these are all of them. insulated so there are little rubber pads that will touch the front of the brackets that we just put in so nothing vibrates there's no metal to metal contacts so we're going to slide this up as you can see there's a cutout for your Funk Button, which is really awesome, once it's put in place we're going to take the push clips and push them in from the back and snap them into place, that's what's holding all of this together.
Now they are like the OEM clips. to hold plastic pieces under your uh in the engine bay and stuff like that so this is very similar to the OEM this is the way to do it without zip ties so we have the actual scraped armor piece on the inside and , as you can see, all the lines. all the holes and everything lines up so let's go ahead and start taking the pieces, the push clips and the top ones go through the front and then snap into place so that's how everything is in place. I think it's fantastic. that also makes it relatively easy to remove so if you ever had to take them out take out the clips and release them from the bottom as you can see here we have the three clips at the top pushed in there and now under the clips . actually attach from the back to the front, so those two brackets that we double-sided tape right here, um, right there, yeah, they'll go through like this, so we've got the driver's side completely finished, all three clips are at the top, the two are here at the bottom as well and as you can see this thing is Stout, it's not going anywhere so unlike the flange option or any of the other options available , they don't install as securely, I guess, but in the end. of the day there is a reason these are officially licensed by GM and the flanged ones are not these are legit so now that this radiator is protected let's jump over to the passenger side after this we're not going to show you that's because it's literally more of the same, but we'll get back to you once they're both done and the car is ready to go guys, that'll do it for the armor scraping video where we're here to kick out Dallas. where I just sprayed my car with ceramic coated window tint.
Giovanni is giving it a final cleaning with a little prodding, but he looks at the scratched armor. The cute honeycomb design looks absolutely fantastic. Thanks to Justin for all the help. Let me tell you, it was never going to work. What if I didn't have his help because well, I'm not even saying I had your help, you actually did 99 of those, yeah, hey, and look, Dad's protective pranks did it without ever having done it before. I assume he watched your video. Yes, I had to do it. I have no idea how else he would have known how to do it, but he did it, but Steve doesn't like to wait and everyone knows he's not afraid to wreck his car, but he did a great job.
This is it and I'm excited to finally be able to protect my radiators because again, I've only driven this car for, I don't know, 60 to maybe 75 miles and it already had dents in it, so they're guaranteed by GM. Don't buy something that, if it has a problem, won't be under warranty. Alright guys, have a great day.
