Let's jump right into the projects today. This project is a happy harvest

wood

decor piece. Now we're going to need one of these

wood

en Family Dollar signs. It's marked down to three

dollar

s right now, but they're 40 off this week, so be sure. stop by to take advantage of some of these fall deals so starting with the sign what we're going to do is first of all remove all the hanging tags and we're going to paint our sign today. Now I decided to go with a black base coat. I know this was ambitious, but I wanted to try it, so I'm going to take my black acrylic paint and start painting the entire inside of my sign black now when I go around the edge.

You want to be careful because we're going to stain the frame a different color, so go very slowly around that edge with your brush and then you can go ahead and fill in the rest of your sign, now that we've reached all of those. edges, we're just going to take all of our extra acrylic paint and we're going to paint the entire inside. Now here's everything inside, nice and covered, and you want to let this dry, so now that it's dry, I'm going to go ahead and stain the frame of our sign. Now I'm going to use some Waverly Antique Wax and what I like to do is put a little bit in a cup and then I'll add a little bit of water to thin it out now, this just helps it apply a lot easier when you use a brush, like this that I'm just going to mix them and blend them really well and then it'll be ready for me. apply to the frame, so I'm just going to take my brush and I like to start on the outside edge first.

I'm just going to apply one coat all the way around to make sure I get really good coverage since we added a little bit of water to that wax it should be pretty easy to spread on your frame and then once you get the side we're going to go ahead and do the top of the frame now, once you apply that side, go ahead and wipe it with a paper towel to remove all the excess liquid and it will allow it to dry much quicker, so we're going to fill this in around our frame. Here's the whole frame nice and stained and this leather lays the side so the stain and the paint dries completely.

The outside is nice and dry to the touch, so now what we're going to do is highlight our lettering and design and I'm going to use some acrylic paint. You could definitely use chalk paint if you want. like now I'm going to use my sanding sponge technique if you've been following me for a while you know that I love using this technique to highlight designs and textures in my projects so what I'm going to do is I'm going to start by taking that sanding sponge and I'll start adding some acrylic paint to it. Now I'm just going to paint it with that brush a couple of layers at a time, you want to make nice thin layers because you don't want it to be runny or drippy, so I'm going to take that sponge and start stamping this onto the workpiece on the that we are working on, what this will do is highlight everything that is elevated. letters in your design, so once we have a basic layout of where everything is, I'm going to apply another layer.
Now I decided to turn it over and this time we will use the sponge side. I get a little more control on the side of the sponge, especially for complex designs like this, so I'm adding a little bit of that paint to the side and I can apply a little more pressure and now you can see that the lettering and the design are really are getting ahead by adding all that stamping with that sanding sponge, so we're going to go ahead and complete this process by just adding that paint to the sponge and stamping it and after a few minutes it will be completely done.
The design stands out, there is no excess and it looks great. I love how vibrant this turned out, so now let it sit to dry completely and here is our sign, all nice, dry and ready to go. Now, if you want, you can add some fall decorations. or something like that you can add beads to the handle but I really wanted to keep this simple as it will be displayed among other decorations in my home so I love it like this in all its simplicity and here is my sign on the table and I love this transformation.
Now I was skeptical about having a black background, but once I went with those white highlights it turned out absolutely amazing. Now my sanding sponge technique always seems to work for these types of projects and I hope you find it. This technique is also useful for painting your wood designs in layers. Now this project is a wooden pumpkin display. Now we're going to need one of these four-tier wooden pumpkin

blanks

. I bought it from Family Dollar. It's Mark three

dollar

s, but like I mentioned before. There are 40 off this week so be sure to stop by and grab one.
I've worked with this four-tier pumpkin before in a different DIY, but this time we'll do something a little different with this blank now that we've removed it. label, but now what we're going to do is separate all these pumpkins. Now I'm going to go ahead and mark the line where I need to cut them. Now there are no power tools involved to separate them. There's a really easy way to do it so I'm going to show you how you can do it without any power tools if you don't have any on hand so I'm going to use a piece of wood on the bottom to protect my Surface. and grab my utility sheet now these utility sheets are available at Dollar Tree or you can get them at any hardware

store

so I'm going to score each side of that pumpkin about three or four times and then turn it over and then score Put it back on the other side three or four times and this will give us a good breaking point to separate our pumpkins very easily, so once we finish that score and we bend that pumpkin slightly and it will just break along our scored line, so I'm going Go ahead and mark the remaining pumpkins and then fold them up and also break them in sequence with the other pumpkins, so now our pumpkin stand is separated into four separate pumpkins, so I'm just going to grab some paper sand and we're going to do a little tidying up and cleaning up so I'm just going to trim any edges that might have breaks or uneven burrs and then I'm going to sand them really really simple so I'm going to grab my bottom three pumpkins for this project now the top pumpkin here we are going to set it aside and save for a different project.
Now I'm organizing them in a way that I think I might want them in my final project, just to Now I have an idea. I'm going to stick with my neutral black and white theme, so I'll use black and white acrylic paint to paint two of my pumpkins and for the third pumpkin I'll cover it with this black. and white buffalo plaid vinyl that I buy at Dollar Tree, so I'm going to take all my pumpkins, lay them out, and start painting them now for the black pumpkin. I'm using the medium size. pumpkin, when you paint this, I'm painting the front and the back on the sides as well.
Now you don't really need to paint the back, but I wanted the back of my project to be finished, so today I'm going to paint both sides of my pumpkin. Now we're also going to need two rotating tower blocks that will help hold up our project when they stand up and I'm going to need a craft stick. We're going to go ahead and paint them as well and that will complete the set. for the black pumpkin, now for the smaller pumpkin, we are going to paint it with white acrylic paint and we are also going to get two rotating tower blocks and a craft stick.
Now for the larger pumpkin, this will be the pumpkin with the Buffalo Chick vinyl, but we want the back to be finished so I'm going to go ahead and put a coat of white paint on one side of this pumpkin and here they are all my pretty, painted pieces, all our pumpkins. Painted, we have our two white craft sticks, one black craft stick, and our two sets of spinning tower blocks. Now to get them to stand up I decided to use a piece of 1x4 that I had on hand that is now about 14 inches. Let's dye this.
I'm going to use my vintage Waverly wax. You can use traditional stain or you can use thinned brown acrylic paint if you want, so I'm going to go ahead and start applying that old Waverly wax. On my piece of wood you can see how it spreads very well and evenly. I love the rich color of the wax and it dries quickly which is really a plus so once you get that coat on that side of course follow up with your paper towel. to remove all the excess wax and then we'll continue to dye this piece on the sides and the tips as well and here's my piece all nice and stained you can see the tips were nice and coated and it's stained on both. sides, so let this dry on the side with the other pieces.
Now here are all my pieces after they have been sitting for a while and they are all nice and dry. We have our wooden board. We have all our pumpkin pieces. our couple sets of spinning tower blocks and our craft sticks all ready for our project now the piece I'm going to start with now is the largest piece we're going to take the natural wood side and cover that side with our vinyl, like this I'm just going to take a piece of this Buffalo plaid vinyl and cut a piece of the roll that covers the entire pumpkin, so I've removed the sticky layer and I'm placing it on top of the pumpkin and I just want to spread it evenly with my hand, you want to apply a good amount of pressure, you want the adhesive to stick to that wood, so I'm going to cut all that excess off to the side and then I'll continue doing I'm sure that vinyl is pretty and it's stuck to your pumpkin piece My little cutting mat.
I bought this one from the Dollar Tree and I'm going to grab my little utility knife. Now I'm going to go ahead and cut all of that out. excess vinyl running that blade around the entire outside edge of my pumpkin. This is actually very easy to do. Vinyl is very easy to cut, so I'm just going to go around the entire pumpkin and remove all the excess trimming. Then once that's done, we'll just turn it over vinyl side up and just cut all those little slits into our pumpkin design. This will be very easy to do and you can really feel where the outline is. is to cut this and it cuts really simple and easy just once it's done on this one here just repeat it for the rest and now you have the pumpkin cut ready to go so now what I want to do is take one of those painted craft sticks and I want to apply one to the center of the bag.
You want about a couple inches of that craft sticking out from the front, apply a little hot glue to the back and then just glue it in place. Now these will be the stems of our pumpkin. Now we are going to do the same with our white pumpkin and we are also going to do the same with our black pumpkin. Now we have all the stems locked in place, so now what I do. What I'm going to do is take some jute twine, now this is a thicker jute twine that I already had on hand. I'm just going to apply a little bit of that hot glue there and I'm going to cover the entire wrapper on the craft stick. around, uh, round with a little bit of that jute twine, this will form our resist, of course, if you have the wooden pieces from Dollar Tree, you can definitely use them.
I found this really easy to use and it's something that I already had on hand and what most people have on hand and once you wrap it all up and glue it in place, this is what it looks like and just repeat until everyone the pumpkin stems are covered, so now what I'm going to do is use some of these faux leather leaves. from the Dollar Tree I bought them and I've been wanting to use them all season so this is the perfect project for that and it fits into my neutral theme so I chose the longer leaves here for my project and What I decided to do to cover up that cut really strange thing on the top of the pumpkin was that I decided to take two leaves and crisscross them in the middle and this forms a shape on the top of the pumpkin where it's kind of disguised where you don't really see it and it still makes your pumpkin look look amazing so once you get them in the right position you can secure them with a little bit of hot glue just press until it's stuck for both now here. one of your pumpkins is ready and then repeat that for the other two and here are the three with theapplied leaves.
I think they look gorgeous, so now what we're going to do is take those sets of falling tower blocks and I'm going to put them together, so I'm just going to add a little bit of hot glue and press two blocks together. We will do this for our white set and for our black set that we previously painted. Now what will these blocks do? These will be supports to hold the two pumpkins that will be standing so the Buffalo pumpkin and the black pumpkins will be the standing pumpkins and we're going to apply that block placed on the bottom of the back of those pumpkins now to apply them we're going to use our hot wood glue we're just going to apply it there and apply it to the bottom now to make sure it's even if you want to pick up your pumpkin and then tighten the block into place making sure it's on a flat surface this makes sure that is perfectly straight on your project.
Now we are going to repeat this process also for your black pumpkin and now. here are the blocks, this is what they look like on the back of the pumpkins. These will provide the perfect amount of support to hold them up and adhere them to your project, so now just grab your wooden board and this is how they will sit. the black pumpkins slightly overlap the front of the Buffalo pumpkin and now all you have to do is add a generous amount of that hot glue to the portion of the block on the back and then sit it on the board and press it firmly into place and I want to do this for both of our pumpkins, place the foreign pumpkins in place and let them sit until the glue solidifies, so now that that's done, we'll take our white pumpkin and place it slightly behind both of them.
We're going to use the stems of our front pumpkins to secure our white pumpkin in place, so I'm watching it to see where it sits on that stem and then I'm going to add a little bit of hot glue to the back of each of the stems. the white and black pumpkins and then carefully place that white pumpkin in its place. You want to make sure it gets there the first time because it will leave glue marks if you have to move it, so place it carefully. and then press it against the stems of those pumpkins until it's nice and secure and then add a little bit of hot glue on the back along the seam where it connects to those stems just to make sure it's nice and secure and here there is our trio of beautiful pumpkins. ready to go now I wanted to add a little more embellishment just to keep it in that neutral

family

and what I did was I took some neutral colored thread from the Dollar Tree and I added six beads to it and tied the ends where there are three beads on each side and I'm going to use them to accentuate the stems of my pumpkin, so what I'm going to do is just wrap them around the stem.
You know, we glued that pumpkin to the stem, but there's one. space between them where you can still wrap ribbon or other decorations around the stem if you want, so I'm going to wrap it and then tie it with a single knot around the stem and I'm going to have these offset and hanging on the front of the pumpkin like a little accent and this is what it will look like so let's repeat this for the other two pumpkins and here are all the little beads on the front and this is such a cute neutral project foreign guys a really cute pumpkin display you can display anywhere you want now.
I love the black and white pumpkins with this leather look that leaves such a great combination and then to preserve. With a neutral look, adding the beads was the perfect touch. Now you can add any color combination or styles you like for these two. I really hope you try this DIY now. This project is a set of textured vases. We're going to need two of these glass bottles from the Dollar Tree. Now let's take our bottles. We will make sure they are nice and clean. We'll go ahead and remove those corks. And put them aside now.
I'm going to paint these bottles. I'm going to go out and give it a couple coats of my zencer primer one, two, three, which I really love now if you don't have spray or don't want to use it. a spray, you can definitely use some chalk paint or acrylic paint, you just want to make sure you apply nice, even coats, so after drying here are my two bottles, all nice and prepared and I love them like this, but I did. I want to highlight that beautiful pattern, so I'm going to use some black acrylic paint to do this.
Now I'm going to use my sanding sponge stamping technique to highlight all the beautiful patterns on these vases. I'm going to go ahead and apply a couple coats of that black acrylic paint on top of my sanding sponge and then I'm going to go in and start gently stamping that paint onto the little vase and as you can see that design is starting to look wonderful. now here is my entire bottle vase, all nice and highlighted. I love this pattern, it is so beautiful now we are going to repeat this process for our other vase and here they are both nice and covered. now just let them dry completely now here they are all nice and dry now you can add some embellishments if you want um I was thinking of surrounding the top of each of these bottles with some jute twine, but when I took a second look , I thought it just took away from the pattern a bit, so I decided to let it go.
I didn't want anything to take away from the beauty of these vases, you could add the corks back in and out. In my case I added some greenery now to continue with my theme. I added a simple bunch of pumpkin stems from the Dollar Tree into these little vase bottles. Now with this beautiful pattern the decoration possibilities are endless and you can decorate them however you want.
