alright, good morning, I'm Chief Jeff Madrid, Chief of Patrol, and next to me is Deputy Chief Kevin Williams, Commanding Officer of the Queens South Patrol, Deputy Chief Jerry O'Sullivan, Queens Chief of Detectives. South, Inspector Anthony Moreno, who is in charge of our force investigations division, so I will give you details of a previous event that

involved

members of our department using their firearms in a situation, and again, this Indeed, these details will illustrate how gun violence continues. believe in our communities and again I implore our community members that it is very important to work together with the police so that we can put an end to this gun violence, but this afternoon, around 11:35 p.m. m., members of our violent crime squad are in the vicinity here of 219th Street, 130th Avenue, which is on the edge of the 105th Precinct, the Springfield Garden section, a very beautiful residential area, they were observing a party in the area and they were observing this party because they believed there was potential for It was violence involving some of the local street teams, so our violent crime squad detectives who were working in an unmarked car and dressed in plainclothes they observed the party observing everything that was happening and while they were doing their observation, an unknown group of men at the same intersection x on 219th Street, 130th Avenue just across the street from the detectives, the group all took the at least three firearms and they began

shooting

in the vicinity of where the party that the detectives were observing was, now I understand that there were approximately 75 to 100 people at this party and now you have a group of men

shooting

at this group against this group of people who were partying.

The detectives saw this and realized that danger was imminent and they got out of their vehicles and confronted a group of our men. The detectives exchanged gunfire with the group of men and our detectives were able to apprehend three of the men. Three of the men had gunshot wounds. Three firearms were recovered. Our detectives were not hit. Our detectives were transported to a local hospital to be examined for tinnitus and other ailments and the three men who suffered multiple gunshot wounds were transported to local hospitals. We believe one of the men is in critical condition and the other two have non-life-threatening injuries.

There were a lot of people here when this. the event occurred and if there is anyone with any information we ask that you call 1-800-577-tips or contact the local priest and speak to the detectives, but as I said, our detectives became

with three men, injured Tree men. and three weapons were recovered, as you can see here, these three firearms were recovered here at the scene, so again I asked our community if they have any information that could

For them, well, from what we know, they were shooting in the direction of the party where there were approximately 75 to 100 people there partying, so they were basically shooting into a crowd.

No civilians were hit at this time, we do not know and there is still an ongoing investigation.
