We'll start with our DIY love truck, so I bought these two trucks at the Dollar Tree in Crafter Square, so these aren't just for Valentine's Day. They usually have these all year round so I'm hoping they're pretty easy to find and now I just want to get started on spray painting them. I'm going to use this flat white spray paint. You can use any color you want, but I just thought white would be a nice backdrop for the hearts we're going to add to the front, so here it is after it dried. I just did one layer on the front and the back and now I'm going to Grab this foam block here and this is in the flower department at Dollar Tree and we just need to trim it a little bit to cut the foam block.

I'm actually using the plastic pool noodle knife that you can find at crafter square. at Dollar Tree and I'm only going to cut off about an inch and now I just want to cut this out again and I would say here I'm cutting off about a third and I'll be left with a rectangle that's about this size so now what I have to do is hot glue it on to one of my trucks and then we're going to add our second truck on top of it so I added a little bit of hot glue to my foam and my truck and you want to hold this in place for a few seconds until it sets.

Now I'm just going to add a little bit more hot glue on top of that foam and then I'm going to add my second truck when you do this step. I want to work quickly, so after placing the second van on top, you need to lift it before it has time to set up. That way you can make sure everything is nice and even and that all four tires are touching the ground. Now to turn this around. In a Love Truck, I'm going to glue some of these wooden hearts to the front of my truck, so these come in a package from Dollar Tree.

You get three different colors and a lot in one package. I have been using these. non-stop for all my crafts this season, so once I was happy with the arrangement, I went ahead and secured everything with some hot glue. Next you just want to pick your favorite artificial flowers from Dollar Tree, so I have a bunch of different ones here, you don't need much for this, you can just do one color and pick up a bunch of flowers, you can get away with just using three flowers if you just want to make a row of them in the back of your truck or you can add a few more to make it super complete last step.
I'm just going to add some of these wooden picks to the back of the truck so they have rose gold and red in the package and I just chose I pulled out some red and pink ones and just ripped the bottom off so they were too long and then I simply inserted them into that foam floral block. This is how it turned out. This DIY is very quick and easy, but I love it. The final result and the best part is that you can customize it however you want, make it yours, paint it the color you prefer so that it adapts to your

ation style.
For our next DIY, we'll be giving this barn a little makeover. So to start, I just want you to very carefully remove the top of the barn so the little roof here comes off pretty easily, but I want to make sure I don't break it because I'll be using it later. So I'm going to go ahead and set this aside for now, if you have any loose paper, just go ahead and remove it, you don't have to remove it all, we're going to cover it up, but we just want to make sure we have loose pieces, so now you will need one of my free printables and I created three different ones for this DIY so this is my blog.
I'm going to leave it linked below in the video description box, so when you go to my blog you'll just want to scroll to the bottom and click on free printables. I'm going to go ahead and show you the three different designs for this DIY, the first one. it just says PS I love you, the second one has the word love with an arrow through it and the third design is just a pink background with lots of white hearts so any of them will work for this DIY so you can go ahead and print your favorite and I suggest you print it on cardstock that way it covers the image on the front of the barn and it will be a little sturdier.
I'm going to use the PD. I love you. so I just kept printing it on cardstock and now I'm going to place my barn over the image and just trace it in pencil that way I can go ahead and cut out my barn when you're cutting this out, don't worry too much about the top because we're going to cover it with that piece of wood for the roof, but just make sure the sides are nice and even my favorite way to attach the cardboard to the barn is just using a glue stick. I think this gives it a nice smooth surface.
You just have to make sure you put glue on all of those edges and then just smooth it out, but it really gives it a nice, smooth look sometimes when you work. with Mod Podge it wrinkles a little bit so I like to use a craft glue stick like this one and now I'm going to go ahead and put some hot glue on that Barn piece and add it back on top now you can notice that. There is a small blank area at the bottom and I left it open that way we can add some embellishments, so I'll add more of those Wooden Hearts from Dollar Tree.
I just wanted to use a natural one here but I think pink ones would look great too and you could even add three different ones in a row or maybe play with a few different sizes but this is the one I chose here. Here's a closer look at how mine turned out, but the other big thing. The thing about this DIY is that you can print any image you want on cardstock, so even if you have a photo you want to add here, it's a really fun DIY that you can customize however you want for our next DIY.
I'll be using some of these wooden hearts from Dollar Tree, as well as one of their round wooden bead wreaths, so this isn't the Valentine's Day one, it's just the regular square craft one. You can find it all year round at Dollar Tree and I actually got the heart version for Valentine's Day, but this one is a little easier to find and since we'll just be using the beads, it doesn't matter what shape you get. The first step of this DIY will be to paint. everything so I picked three of my hearts and I'm just going to share with you the colors that I'm going to use today to paint so the first one is this candy pink spray paint.
I will also use a matte. white spray paint and this apple red spray paint to paint the beads and the wooden heart, so the first step is to remove the beads from the wreath and the easiest way to do this is to simply get a pair of wire cutters and Go ahead and cut the center wire. Now you will have all your beads and I counted 45 beads. I want to paint, paint, 15 beads of each color. Now I'm going to go ahead and prepare everything. to paint and that's how I like to paint my wooden beads. In my opinion, it is the best and easiest way to paint wooden beads.
I like to add my beads to a metal wire. In fact, you can reuse the wire that the beads come on. The wreath wire, all you have to do is trim it and straighten it and then I take a little cardboard box and I just cut some notches in the side and then I insert that wire into the notch that way I can twist it. While I'm spray painting it and getting even coverage, I actually have a short video on this exact process that I'll leave linked below, so I went ahead and spray painted one white heart, one pink heart, and one red heart, as well as 15 white beads . red beads and 15 pink beads So now everything is dry and we are ready to start with our wooden bead garland.
I'm going to use some yarn from Dollar Tree for this, so to start, although I wanted to make my tassel. This way we can have all of our pieces and then assemble them all at once, so making a tassel is very easy - you just want to wrap a bunch of thread around your four fingers and then simply cut out a smaller piece of thread and insert it. in that loop I then tie a knot at the top. Now the next step is optional, but I think it adds a nice touch for Valentine's Day. I'm going to use a little bit of this lace ribbon from Dollar Tree and I'm just going to place it right on top of my tassel once I have everything smoothed out.
I'm going to go ahead and take my twine again and just wrap some twine around the head of the tassel to tie everything together once it's secure. You can go ahead and trim it and then just tie a knot and trim those extra ends. Now that everything is put together, you want to go ahead and just trim those bottom loops so it starts to look more like a tassel and now for the last step. It's just pulling everything straight and even and making sure the bottom is clean, so I like to give everything an even cut.
Now everything is ready so we can start assembling our wooden bead garland. I'm going to take my three hearts and just joining them together I wanted to give it the look of hearts stacked on top of each other to join them together. I'm just going to use hot glue, so now I can get my twine and I want to cut a piece of twine that will be a little bit longer than my wooden bead garland. It's always better to have it a little longer than too short and then have to go back and read it, so once I cut the thread I simply tied one end to My Hearts and now I can start the same pattern with my beads.
I'm going to do red, white and pink until I run out of beads and this step here is actually very helpful. Do yourself a favor and put some duct tape on. on the end of your thread every time I start without taping and then after a bead or two I get so frustrated because the thread starts to fray that I always have to grab my tape so save yourself the aggregator observation and It starts with a piece of tape on the end it makes the whole process so much easier once all my beads were on my string I took my tassel and just ran the string through the head of the tassel and now all I'm going to do is To do this is simply knotting it here, but you want to tighten it as much as possible that way you won't have gaps in your future garland.
Take a closer look at how it turned out. I was originally only going to use white and pink for this DIY because those are two of my favorite colors, but I decided to add red for a fun pop of foreign color. For our next DIY, we're actually going to use those same wooden hearts from Dollar Tree so you get eight in a package we're going to create a Garland and for my Garland the area where I have to hang it is not very long so I'm just going to use five of my hearts and I'm going to save the other three for a different DIY so I'm going to spray paint two of these white so I want to start with that so they have time to dry and I'm just going to use the same matte white spray paint to use. before and for the other three hearts, I'm actually going to wrap them in yarn, so this is the pink chenille yarn from Dollar Tree and it's very similar to the craft we did in our last video.
They loved this craft. and I'm very happy because I loved it too, so it was great to hear all the positive comments. If you watched that video, you already know the process, but in case you haven't, all you have to do is just take it. your thread holds a piece in the center of the heart and then begins to wrap that thread around the heart. You want to wrap it around the starter piece a few times just to keep it in place and when you get to the end you can just go ahead and trim it and then take the end and just tuck it under some pieces of thread to hold it in place and now I'm going to repeat Same process for my other two hearts, so here it is all done and ready.
Come on, now we can go ahead and just take our twine and start making our garland, so before we do that, we need to attach the little bows that come with the hearts and for these, here are the ones we just painted. It's super easy, they have a pre-drilled hole so you can go ahead and add your little tie to these. It's a little more complicated here, but it's still pretty easy to just carefully slide that little tie under some pieces of thread. and then just pull it up and tie it in a knot then cut the thread to the length you want your garland to be and I just wanted to show you that I like to make loops in the end of my garland every time I make one and I got a request thelast time i showed this to make it a little bit slower so you can see it in detail so all i do is just take the end of my twine and basically bend it about two inches to form a loop and then just twist it and pull it up forming a knot that way creates this nice little loop at the top and that way makes it a lot easier when you want to hang it up and now I'm just going To add my hearts to my twine, the final step is going to be taking the same ribbon Dollar Tree lace that I showed you earlier, cut it into small pieces and tie them to a bow between each of the hearts.
I like to leave the bow a little looser that way I can easily slide it back and forth so when I hang my garland I can make sure everything is in the right place and this is how it turned out and if you guys do the Hearts thread from the last video, this would be absolutely perfect to combine them, this latest DIY is something extraordinary. that's totally different than what I usually do, but it's a lot of fun, so you might remember my shop with me and my hauling video that I shared with you these flamingos from Dollar Tree and I told you that I don't normally go for the tinsel decoration, but there was something about these and I told them I had to pick them up, so of course I had to come up with an easy DIY to get them started.
I'm using two of these wooden dowels from Dollar Tree and You can find them at the craftsman square and I'm going to heat glue them to the legs of one of my flamingos here, so I want to make sure I leave about an inch and a half to two inches. the bottom of that foot with the peg sticking out because we will be adding this to a foam floral block and once I had the two pegs hot glued to my first sign, I went ahead and hot glued my second Flamingo sign on top of that and now I'm just adding a little bit of hot glue to hold the head together and this will make your sign finished on all sides.
Next, I'll grab two of these pieces of wood from Dollar Tree. these are also on your craft square and I'm just going to use a little bit of hot glue to attach them and this is going to be the base of our Flamingo centerpiece so we need to add some foam floral block because we're going to be converting this type of bottom on a floral centerpiece and we want something that we can stick the flowers on so this is that pool noodle knife that I was telling you that I used earlier and you can find this at the crafter plaza at Dollar Tree. and I guess it's great for pool noodles.
I haven't tried it yet, but it works for a lot of crafts and it's nice to have a craft knife that way you don't have to use your actual kitchen knife. For this type of craft, I have two different floral blocks here and that's just because that's what I had on hand. If I could go back and do it, I would use this foam floral block on the left. I actually prefer the texture of that one. a better one, but any will work so all you want to do is trim them to fit your wooden base, so now that we have everything prepared we can go ahead and cut out our flowers and then just push them into that floral foam. block I just picked up a bouquet of artificial roses from Dollar Tree in different shades of pink and white.
There was something so endearing about the flamingo sign when I saw it at Dollar Tree that I knew I couldn't leave it on the shelf. I definitely wanted to use it in one of our DIYs this year so I'm almost done but I noticed this little loop at the top so I used my same wire cutters that I used for my flowers just to go ahead and cut it out. and that's it for this DIY, like I said it's something totally different but it's so much fun and would make a really cute centerpiece on your Valentine's Day table and that's it for today.
I really hope you enjoyed these DIYs, if so please. Let me know with a comment below and let me know which one was your favorite.
