2022 RAM 1500 Rebel VS Chevy Silverado Trail Boss - Which One Gives You The Most For Around $60k???

Mar 18, 2024
I have never made a video about the Ram

1500

Rebel. I've done some on the Trail Boss in the past so one thing I want to say is that these trucks are al

most

perfectly matched and that's a good thing because I'm going to obviously compare them like you see in the title, but I really think that if you really look to these two trucks, they are very similar in how they handle things. One thing for sure is that they have all-terrain tires on both. You can see and they are both the same tire, they are Goodyear Wranglers, the only difference is that Ram loves those white letters for the wheels, but today we are going to compare them and see

which

one has good options. one is a little more off-road, more or less, unfortunately I don't have a place to show you any articulation, but it doesn't matter, this will still be a good video.

I'm going to do a second part. I'm going to go over fuel economy in highway driving and we'll see

which

one comes first, so let's go ahead and watch the video. One thing you will notice about the GM Trail Boss is that its styling is quite contemporary. It's not too far from a regular Silverado LT. It has LED headlights and incandescent turn signals. LED decorative light. The grill is virtually unchanged from what I can see. It may be a little different from normal, but it really stays the same. outside there's those red tow hooks underneath you've got LED fog lights and I think this little piece on the side is slightly different or changed for the

trail

boss

hood it's pretty aggressive pretty aggressive now that we walk up to the ram I think really I stepped on their game, I think they really did a good job, I will congratulate them because the lower bumper is different from the normal one, it has that off-road look and this one also has LED headlights and it has full LED.

More Interesting Facts About,

2022 ram 1500 rebel vs chevy silverado trail boss which one gives you the most for around 60k...

The headlights are too high and low, like the GM's, but it also has LED turn signals. The grille will be completely different from what you see on a regular Ram truck, so when you see a Rebel pull up, it's clearly an off-road-oriented truck. truck, the tow hooks are down, they have a silver painted bottom like a diffuser whatever you want to call it and I just like how they give you more clearance where the tire is so if you need to get on some rocks while I can see over there that you don't damage that bumper.

Now let's go down here and see if they have skid plates because that's equally important, so on this one I don't see a skid plate. I do see some aluminum and some Bilstein shocks. However, and those are pretty good shock absorbers, by the way, they also help with road manners. Let's look at the GM, so the GM has this little plastic cover here and it has like a plate here to protect. that all wheel drive transfer case and some of the things below also now as you can see this one as you can see uses ranch shocks in the comments section which one would you prefer ranch or bilstein and then this one has steel control arms compared to the aluminum one on the ramp and one thing you really need to take note of is the ram hood.

This is a performance hood and really adds a lot of style to the already ridiculous Rebel that looks great, so who's making the wind? go to the front, well I have to tell you that I think I like the RAM a little more. I know I have a RAM. I know, but listen to me. I think that RAM went one step further. Personally, I think GM. The truck is too contemporary to be more off-road oriented, so the wind is definitely going on the ramp, so let's go ahead, open the hood and see what transmissions are available with these two trucks under the hood of the RAM.
We have a 5.7. The torque v8 is basically like a mild hybrid system and then under the hood of this

chevy

silverado

is a 5.3 liter v8 so it's going to have a 10 speed transmission it's going to have an 8 speed transmission and I can. Don't wait to do a fuel economy comparison now if you're wondering this RAM has 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, you heard that right 410, it also has an additional 130 pounds of supplemental launch torque, as Called Rim, I don't know. I know what that really means, but it

gives

you some offline performance from this generator. It's got like a battery pack and the stop/start feature works really well on this truck too, I'll say that, and we'll try it out real soon. enough, but look at everything underneath, the transmission is a ZF, it's an 8 hp 75 and from what I've been told and what I've found it's great, in terms of getting rpm flow, it's really good at reducing the power and It's definitely something I would be happy with if I had a Ram truck, so the GM truck is here flexing the RAM.
Now this will be a 5.3 liter displacement v8 it will be good for 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque and it has hit 10 speeds now gm says it's fine I know we don't have as much power as that 5.7 from There, however, they have one more card to play, they have a 6.2 liter V8 available for the Chevy Silverado. It will be good for 420 horsepower, 460 pound-feet of torque and still comes with the 10 speed. Now I will say that the ram has a 392 rear, this one has 323, so I can't wait to see the performance from the ground up . I don't know, I don't know, although this is the five three so we know what's going to happen, unfortunately they don't have a 6.2 liter engine here at the dealership so we'll just have to wait and see how it goes. in another video so let's go ahead and look at the side view of both trucks starting with the

chevy

so one win that GM will get is that this one comes with a two inch lift and this one also has an optional 20 inch wheel. you can get a standard 18 or you can upgrade to the 20 inch so this 20 inch is wrapped around a 265 60 20 and this is a Goodyear Wrangler tire and they look really nice they look really meaty and I think these are. 33 inch tires, if you walk up to the ram this will have a raised height of one inch over the standard

1500

ram and it also has the same tire configuration so it has a Goodyear Wrangler; however it's only an 18 inch wheel and this is a lt275 70. so i don't know i think the win goes to chevy because you can get that optional 20 if you really don't mind having the smaller wheel, however that it's not available for the ram you can get a night edition to black out the wheel too if you want and that's something interesting so let's talk about something that is controversial in the truck segment on all fronts for ford and that is this here, so this truck has a standard.
The 23 gallon tank GM trucks come with a 24 gallon tank and that's it, you can't get an upgraded fuel tank so I think this is a better way to go because you can get a 33 gallon fuel tank with the Ram trucks, which is a It's a big deal for me, especially since towing, this one has a bigger tank than my 3500, so kudos for ramming, at least giving it a larger fuel tank option for the half a ton but I'll pass on my ram 3500 I guess that's okay we need to talk about bed sizes so one thing I like about the Trail Boss that you can't get on the ram is the fact that you can get a short bed or a standard bed size setup so you can get a slightly longer bed compared to the ram, so you can only get the short bed on the Rebel, there is a longer bed available, you just can't get it on this truck , unfortunately now, if you buy the Rebel, it comes standard with these taillights, obviously they're LED and they dim them a little bit. a little too to brighten it up, you have dual exhaust underneath, Ram has been doing this for years and this one has a class to receive the hitch, two inch opening, four and seven pin connector, same goes for the hitch on this side.
They also have dual exhaust down below. One thing that Chevy has is that they have steps on both sides of the bumper and that is another advantage and a win for GM. I'm not keeping track of these wins, but so far it seems like GM has been winning these last few months, so they give you a light here for your conventional hitch and you have a backup camera and something they added to theirs is that they also They have a light below, they give you a little more lighting. and that's mainly for the conventional hitch tube, now the rear of the tailgate spills out.
On the back it has the

rebel

insignia and on this side you don't know you have a triune

boss

unless you look here on the side of the box. the taillights are not blacked out so these are the standard taillights as seen on the regular

silverado

and i think even on the zr2 unfortunately they are also the same style they don't really black them out or anything but there are some LED lights. in there and some incandescent lights too, but in the RAM everything is fine, so this is where it all goes downhill for the Silverado and that's a limited one.
I tried to wait for a Silverado with the new interior, but the Chevy is not here in Maryland, so there are very few of them and when they get here they are selling out, so unfortunately I have to make this comparison with the old interior, but still probably would win because there's a lot more style to the

rebel

, he has this red accent. It looks amazing now this is the base interior so you have some vinyl and some red leather you have cloth uh insert right here really cool really nice I love the red and the black.
The door card looks great now, you have some red and like grayish stitching here really nice accents I love the aluminum look door handle, you can power fold these mirrors, they are heated and you have automatic up and down to the front mirrors, also down below you can adjust those pedals, it has a telescoping steering wheel, the list goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and check the gauge cluster. This one has the option of having a 12-inch screen, but even the standard screen, although this is not the standard screen, I don't think it's not the standard.
The 8.4 screen is a little larger than what you'll see in that Chevy and you have all the seat controls underneath. It doesn't have dual climate control, but it's available with that, too. Let's go ahead and start this now. how its all-wheel drive system works, this does not have a car, that is something that is missing. I don't like the dial though, this is something I don't care for, but you can get a gt package that will remove it. It has a rear axle. lock the downhill assist and this is just your stop and go function also the

trail

er brake and then you have the trailer hubble traction control tons of USB tons of storage this is a well bought truck compared to that GM I think that the way that RAM did it this interior, the way they know, they really set it up, it's just a better interior, better, and just the options that you can get can be very expensive, you can get up to 77 grand probably and not even blink because there are so many There are a lot of different things, so let's go ahead and take a look inside the GM truck.
By the way, it doesn't have navigation either, but it's available if you want it, it has Apple Carplay, so like I said, GM really nailed it. lazy on the inside now this still looks good it still has nice soft touch features but they decided to use a piece of wood trim and the interior is just ok just not something I would love to have next to if I saw this ram . rebellious, I think some people would probably love the red, some people will hate it and this is still a nice interior. I'm not saying it's not, it's just getting off that battering ram and into this.
I forgot I was on a trail boss, uh. oh yeah this is still the trail boss okay just want to make sure so let's jump in here and they still have that automatic for your all wheel drive system this has a push button start and your gauges everything just no it is so nice. just the best way to put it, it has dual climate control and because of the chip shoulders, the heated seats don't work, you have two USBs, you have one plug, it's missing a trail gear and then another proud plug on this side, but you do have some storage cup holders fairly deep center console quite wide there is no usb or anything inside this area i think the ram did a little better i think once i see the new interior i will be able to have a better view of everything except this one truck, it's missing a lot.
I think you have LED interior lights, so let's go back real quick. I also forgot to mention that you don't have an auto folding function on the door and you only have auto up and down. just for the driver's side, automatic down for everything else and then here's the rear bench 60 40 and this cabin in the back is a decent size, it's not that big, it's got some USB air vents. I love this about GM trucks, this is a really cool little cubby for your kids if they want to put their toys in here or something, really cool detail, you know, and this one has LED lights andIt comes standard, however, on the side of things, I didn't know that.
But you get black door handles compared to the painted ones and this one has a smart key system. Not this one, but on the inside this cabin is a little bit bigger, let me get this out of here real quick, yeah. look at the space you have in this one, this one has a 60 40 bench, it just pops out, this one also has incandescent bulbs for the interior, but you can get LED lights, you can really dress this interior up, you have USB and heated external seats. So, if you choose the right trim packages, but this truck is also more expensive, I didn't mention that and I'll show you here in a second, but in the comments section, let me know what you think.
I think my win is for the Ram 100 is not biased, it's just what we have in front of us right now and I think this is just a better interior. I could live with this day to day. I like the red. I think it looks very, very clean. Really cool and these seats hold up well too because I drove a 2018 Ram Rebel. It had about 120,000 miles on it and the interior still looked new so here is the window sticker on this Silverado. I usually show this at the beginning. but this time I just wanted to show you guys the trucks first, but this truck doesn't have many options.
The safety package has lane departure alert, side blind zone alert, and then rear cross traffic alert. Bet protection. This has a spring hood and it has those 20 inch wheels like I mentioned and like I said, some things are credited to you since they don't work and that's it, so the total price is fifty-six thousand ninety-five dollars now, the ram now. The base price on this one is 53,895 and the base was 52,500 on the Chevy, but check your options on this Ram as it has level one Rebel equipment so it comes with that 8.4 inch screen and seats with heating, things like that electric folding. mirrors so all of that is an option and this one has an optional 5.7 v8.
You would get a standard v6 for this one. There are a few other things like the trailer brake which was option two on the ram and then the remote start is available for this one. one and I think the GM also has a remote start system so the destination is 17.95 versus the gym's 1695 and then the total price on this one was a little bit higher at $61,620. Here are the fuel economy numbers with the ram and here it is for the GM before I finish and show you the numbers on the door so you can see the payload and everything.
I want to show you the screens here just to show you everything, so this one also has Apple Carplay. This is the house. screen here and the last thing I want to show you is the camera view back here so you can have a backup camera to show just a few features. I don't see that you can zoom in on this one, so that's something I don't do. I don't see this one, so let's go ahead and look at the ram next, and then here's the design of this one and then let's go ahead and turn it upside down.
You can expand this. Actually, it's right here and I think this is it. a little clearer, it's actually not bad, so let's first look at the ram numbers, the gross axle speed reading on the front will be 3900 lbs, the rear will be 4100 lbs. gross of 7,100 pounds and take note of The wheels are also 18 by 8 inches and then here is its total payload capacity of 1,539 pounds, not too bad. In fact, I like this setup much better on the GM trucks. How they do it, that's why they give you this license plate to tow now. The gross drive capacity on the front will be 3800 lbs and then the gross fuel spool rates will be 7000 lbs gross combined 15k the rear is 3800 lbs the weight on two bends is 5273 so the load Pretty light maximum payload of this truck is 1727 pounds, so it has a higher payload capacity and it has a lower gross weight, so this truck is a little bit lighter than the Ram overall and then 9200 pounds for towing conventional 8400 lb gooseneck and the ram is definitely a little bit heavier and has less payload capacity which is definitely more important in my book, thank you very much for watching this video.
I hope you have been helpful. I'm going to do a part two for this, so we're basically going to compare the driving of these two trucks, so stay tuned and be sure to like, subscribe to the channel. Be sure to comment on the video too. I love hearing what you have to say about the video. I will see you soon.
