FIGHTING PATRICK ROY with Mike Vernon - Episode 403

Mar 30, 2024
who missed all the Rockets last year, a guy who can skate, who can I let take me alone? fans, oh yeah, I would too. They have guys like Frank Paula who can score but can also move their body. Brandon Smith is a tough guy, so they've gotten bigger, they've gotten a little tougher, so those are three areas that I think they addressed it pretty well, obviously, Gudro would have helped, obviously, another of those big names would have helped, but I would like it if they made the playoffs. My honest opinion is that everything will go to the end and it's a coin toss, what four!

Look at the other teams in your division. League of older teams. The older teams are fine so they go down the hell they go up that's why I say in two years when they got that with luke hughes in the back that son of simone nemet they left him second overall those are the two best two of the best I would say three or four best d prospects in the league I say in two years the window will open once jack hughes matures more brat mature is more accused and remember the team remember in all prospects two prospects incredible I'll give it to you and jack usa stud they don't have a goalie they don't have a goalie and when you talk about the window opening, get a goalie and then we can talk safely because look at the Rangers and look at all these other teams, they have goalies, it's well you're busy i mean i saw your game at the checklist cup in detroit i mean keep your phone with you the way it fits uh fitzgerald's been signing guys you could end up getting an eight for seven contract years for eight million right behind your joke, I'll dust the pads for myself.

I'll do it, I'll take the buffalo special business 750 750. I'll say, wait, we should talk about our backs because I want to see what the public thinks about it and I bet I don't love this bet right now. Jack Hughes scores 100 points in any of the next three seasons. I say yes and no. I love it. You guys are making a hundred points sound like a walk in the park, buddy, and you know what the most important part of getting 100 points is. and I haven't seen him able to stay healthy yet, it makes me sound like a non-Jack Hughes fan, which is unfortunate because I actually love the guy's game, but if I could take this bet back, yeah, but still.
Like wait a minute, Pasha was talking about oh he's going to get 100 points, no problem, it's like last year so many guys got 100 points that it was kind of eye-opening in a sense, that's how I think it happened last year because of more fatigue and more breakdowns because the schedule was condensed that's my theory about last season, just more than anything one was drinking and two I always want to argue with you and three like the way you made it sound like it was a guarantee He's getting one hundred points. I took some off my ski.
I don't think it's a guarantee. I agree with you. I think health is the most important thing. I'm just looking at it if it were the next two years. I would be much happier. In three years he could reach 100. I know he won't do it this year because he has a groin injury from shooting all those fireworks at the white party in the Hamptons. I saw all the stories about him and stuff, hey. he's living that kid's life, yeah, you think all those kids are like Zegras Carfield, the Hughes brothers, Jesus Christ. I was thinking about the only fans who sell used Abercrombies.
We should have a separate podcast just talking to these guys about their DMs, like who likes what. Mark's famous ladies are sliding into his DMs. I'm sure they would love to reveal it. Yeah, I'm sure they'll register if they were fired and wanted to tell them we'll never publish it. Look at the NBA. Of them they just crushed the Kardashian sisters and suddenly the income tripled. Mike Sillinger was telling us that his son Cole is dating that Tate Mcrae now, yeah he's stunned, oh yeah he's a stud, not just on the ice like me. I was checking her Instagram, she's clear about it, so I don't know if you heard the story and how they met, I think during an interview they asked him who he was in love with and she's a Canadian country singer who got emotional. to what extent does her career continue, I think they're both from Saskatoon, right, okay, they both blew up, although she's definitely blowing up, oh yeah, like he showed me his Instagram and like he got it, she's a star and she really follows her.
Yes, you can see in the videos of her that she loves to perform so well for him. I hope they get married, that's a power couple. I think we've talked enough about the New Jersey Devils. uh, posture, you're still a scrub, though I appreciate it. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the effort you have put in the past to help grow this podcast. I appreciate you accompanying me on that trip through Western Canada to do a vlog about the stance of the experience that will come back later. on the podcast to talk about some things that we've done in the past that we'll be reposting on our YouTube spit and trickles as well as those commercials uh why buy commercials that we've had on deck for about three four years.
Now, but we're going to talk a little bit about hockey so you guys can go for a little walk, maybe a couple of pashas back and forth, and we're going to talk about hockey and we'll bring you back later and discuss all of that. Sounds good guys, thanks. for inviting me, yeah, attaboy posh, kinda good, I'm in Canada, like I said before, and they were celebrating Mason Mctavish quite a bit, the latest world junior herald, one of the best saves in hockey history, I guess, just in the fold. reverse Canada low scores wins all three two and overtime beats the fins it's an unreal game, but is it me or did it just seem like it didn't have the usual buzz?
I know it's August, we used to have it at Christmas and even here I was talking to people and some guys like, oh it was the game the other night, it just didn't seem like there were as many people watching as usual, did you get that feeling? Business, yeah, so the factors involved, uh, guys that were recruited. Elite players who would have elevated the game did not participate because of the possibility of being able to go to training camp and perhaps form a team. Why get injured in August? Playing in a tournament that at this point in your career doesn't mean enough, some people say, oh, representing your guys who get injured before they go to the national hockey league for something like a make-up tournament, a second non-ideal ticket price that people are forced to buy packages they don't want. show up to round-robin games like checking against uh, you know, Slovakia or, you know, Los Angeles, and no offense to these teams, it's only in the summer that people want to go out and see the sun, which in Edmonton only It comes out for about three months of Anyway, the year they weren't going to the round robin games, even Team Canada's games looked a little lackluster, did they appear in the gold medal game?
It looked incredible, the incredible atmosphere of the game was, you know, Canada was up by two, nothing. losing the lead, ends up going to overtime mctavish has a turnover, goes back the other way, the finns almost finish it and like you said okay, one of the biggest heritage moments in a world juniors for the team Canada as always and then. they come back the other way and have an incredible finish and great confidence, because I mean, we're talking about guys who could potentially be taking the next step and who ended up playing like mctavish. This guy needs to get steroid injections in his butt.
This guy is a complete. -a grown man playing against kids and uh, a great kid ended up going to win the ohl championship with hamilton. He ends up going to the memory cup. I think they went to the finals and lost in the finals, but I imagine he's an amazing kid. with the roster they have he can play for the Anaheim Ducks this season so watch out for that young roster in Anaheim with the guys they got who knows if they will end up being a lottery team and sneak in Bedard who will probably be the team most promising to see in domestic hockey.
I just saw where the future could be said to be bright, not like the devil's posture. You, zigris um ziggers and drysdale, changed their numbers from 46 to 11 for zegras and I didn't. I don't know what impetus that was, but he goes to number six, so they surpassed those training camp numbers that give kids the right business, you know, it's like, oh, take this number boom, now they can pick the his, I'm with you, that Mctavish, it was probably the best save in the history of the world junior tournament, it was crazy, it looked like he could have still gone in and then you saw the replay in slow motion, there was no chance of him going in and only one unreal sequence of events I couldn't believe it, it was actually already a joke of a tournament, I mean I felt so bad for the scouts who had to go there in August, like why they are playing that tournament, I think the main reason It's all the TV deals that had already been sold and stuff like that, the money had already been spent, they had to do it, but I didn't see anything and then I turned on the start of the third period of that game and I enjoyed it immensely because it was crazy, uh.
I would say another thing too, just because in the last two years with Covid these scouts need to see these kids play, there was a long period of time, so the evaluation and who you're going to draft, I think that's critical for the guys. . who's ready for this year to get that early scan to see how they're doing against some really good competition, you know who's been staying in shape and then of course moving on and on towards the year where they're going to have a full season. to explore these children. to give them the proper grades that they need, you know, Bobby Mack needs to see these kids play so he can give us the scouting report.
Bobby Mac's crushing daisies on the porch of this lake house. There are no rookies either. There was no Russian team that you know of. that probably made it a little easier for whoever they played, a shout out to kent johnson on the game winner and it would have been crazy. I was watching the game if that goal counted and I thought, oh my God, if Canada scored here, but that Finland goal really counted, it would have been crazy because they would have had to come back and cross the line, it would have been the biggest dunk in the world. junior in the story and, like he said, if you knew, if my aunt had a, she would be obligated, man. okay move on nazem kadri finally signed ends up signing in calgary seven years $49 million has a no movement clause for the first four years a modified no trade clause for the last three uh reportedly the abs They offered him four years 24 million the islands apparently offered the same deal as the flames uh flames obviously needed some cap space so they traded for sean monaghan at first conditional on montreal for future considerations he has one year left at 6,375 and then they extended jonathan had uh eight years 84 thousand come at 10.5 aav, so Calgary loses Kachuk Goudreau and Monahan.
They had Huberdo Cadre and Wieger for at least this year. I know a lot of people are better, better this year, better last year, it's that kind of silly argument or not. you think there's some validity to it, we'll come to you i think there's a lot of validity to it i looked at it i think huberdo and goudreau are pretty close to being like fair trades, you know what i mean in terms of losing goudreau and beat huberdo, both elite playmakers, hundred point guys, it was like that, maybe you go with Cooper Dole, I don't know, one is tough, um, Kadri and Kachuk, I think Chuck is a better player mainly because he's more young, mainly because I think it's a little better.
Offensively, obviously, the team had a great year last year, but they're on the best team in the league by a mile, so in the end I'd say Calgary might not be ashehe, when Fox came in, it took the offensive pressure off him and I think he settled into exactly the player everyone expected him to be and probably even exceeded people's expectations of how physical he can play given his size because sometimes you know players get They become a little obsessive and they got their contract. He came in perfectly and he's a force to be reckoned with and now he's the leader of the New York Rangers and I couldn't be happier for the guy we have, we gotta get him on the podcast even though I don't know if uh oh. they're not allowed yeah with Dalt me and Dolan on it because I called them the fugazis hey wow does the stool sports betting app have NHL teams down in points this season yet?
I don't think they have it. yet, but they usually do, can't wait to see the islanders business real quick, sticking with the islanders a little over a month ago you made a prediction and said the new york islanders would easily make it to the conference finals from the east. Has that changed? now they didn't make any free agents off season no friend 100 did it 100 did it I thought before free agency I said it right before free agency I said I said they have some money to work with here Lou is pretty Cheap they still have one year of Barzel for seven million, which is a deal that they don't have to sign him until next offseason, which he told Lou will probably delay it until the last minute and then won't announce it for three months.
Later, right in training camp, they signed the guy, but not to bring anyone in, I think it's absurd not to make up for your huge mistake of trading Devon Taves, one of the best defensemen in the league, now I know he's playing with a car and blah blah blah blah blah for two second rounds so as not to make up for that mistake and then go to the Amalfi coast to hang out with grinnelli in the off-season instead of signing someone in free agency Yes, I'm coming out of my position. I guess I don't even know if they're going to make the playoffs now, oh, take the middle, yeah, as for soldier, they basically said we're at the midseason forum, pretty much this, the de facto captain, they said.
He's basically been the captain the last two years unofficially, so the team, yeah, everyone got support, I want to get to your point about the fan trouba, oh yeah, he's basically been like the captain as far as his role in the locker room and leadership. all that stuff so it's not a real surprise uh

patrick

kane rumors yeah I'm not a big rumor guys apparently your camp is quote undecided about requesting a trade uh to keep listening the oil that mentions its name, I don't know if. it's valid, there's a six million dollar cap right now, I don't know how they're going to add 10 million more, there aren't many teams that will be traded, I think it'll happen much closer to the deadline, I don't see it . a team catches this guy before thanksgiving or even christmas, if you don't believe that kyle dubis is going to work his magic and take

patrick

kane to the toronto maple leafs, you're crazy, the rumors have started and people is talking about it.
In the cap space there you will also see one of the best, if not right now, as he stands, the best American hockey player to ever play the game. Passing the torch to Austin Matthews in his final two seasons, I think. he's going to happen, i think he'll probably quit after the 10 million he's making and take a local discount like giordano did, like everyone else's local discount, he's american, how's that bc bud biz? He is great both in the hometown and playing in Toronto and I love and play with his friend Yeah, yeah, I got you, I got you, did I catch a Niners because they need another 10 million contract?
Yeah, you mentioned, uh, Gino Malkin's kids' birthday cake, the Lion King thing, that was, how much do you think? cost a thousand dollars we didn't get wit's opinion on where patrick kane thinks he's going i already said he's going to buffalo he's coming home that's his hometown the buffalo sabers are going to hold a stanley cup championship with patrick kane after the buffalo bills celebrate a super bowl championship with josh allen wait the city of buffalo is packed and is on a direct path to the moon i'm telling you, both teams everyone knows that the bills are already incredible the sabers are going to be sick did you hear Okso say? us for him I felt bad I didn't even want to tell poso how you're going to get into the lineup the loaded ingenuity of this team who wins the cup first the sabers or the maple leaves the sabers are you kidding the leaves will never win a cup you sound like pasha right now no, I don't know everything I'm saying about why the future is, every trip I've said about the leaves since this podcast started and rna r.a and I were sitting on her couch has come true about the leaves I'm not even exaggerating I've never been wrong about anything about leaves you're wrong about everything ah so biz about that birthday cake what I was curious about I didn't see this I can see this Somewhere, sorry guys, um, did you?
Can you give him the link? Yeah, I went to Malkin's Instagram and he wasn't there before. Okay, before we go on vacation. I think we mentioned how absurd Genny Malkin throws birthday parties a few years ago. all these random guys probably got on the russian craigslist to dress up in full gear plus skates at their kids birthday party in full penguin gear one of them had a Malcolm t-shirt on one of them had a t-shirt of Crosby in one of them I had a Kunitz jersey, I don't know what other players were there and I think they were standing in the yard while the party continued playing their positions up and down the wing.
Now Malcolm posts a photo on Instagram of his son's birthday cake. and I think we're all aware during his tenure with that core group of players, they won three Stanley Cups, three Stanley Cups, they won the one I mean in Malcolm's third or fourth year and then they got the back of the back. I have a lion king themed cake and that monkey holding which one is the lion simba yeah right yeah instead of simba this cake is amazing it's a fourth Stanley cup it's a fourth dude I was talking to bring him back to Boston.
This has me very excited for the Pittsburgh Penguins season. I think the smoke show is playing. The wife is looking at him. He's just looking away. Oh hey, here's a bet. I bet Malcolm scores 100 points this season. You know you don't get a pie like that for his son with a fourth Stanley Cup predicting it without showing up he had knee surgery last season off season he didn't get back to what he was in the middle of last year he himself didn't suffer many losses of expensive ball alone I didn't look, it didn't have its charm.
I think Malcolm's charm is coming back and it starts with the birthday cake business. You mentioned Pittsburgh. You seem very excited about them to start the season. Maybe we should do a little. of a live show there to start the year, what do you think of that? We're talking about this right now. Oh, take me to Pittsburgh. I want, oh no, no, I thought we had this information. Yeah, oh no, you can come out, Baby Pittsburgh. Well, I'll pass it on to you, buddy, 'cause you're good with ads, this is news to me, buddy, I thought we were going somewhere else, I didn't know we were going, this is all news to me, guys, oh my god. . heart is racing I'm coming back I'm back we usually wait until we finalize all the details but there's about nine of us we're on birth control 99.9 percent we're going to start the season in pittsburgh to do a live show go to some bars make appearances do something let's open let's sandbag oh my god on top of that I'm not going to say anything more than this the biggest announcement in Chico's The story will happen live in Pittsburgh for our first live show in the last few three years.
Some of you thought, "Oh my God, are they going to get a microphone and sound system to work?" We're going to go to a professional place and there will be nothing. Problems with the microphone, we are not going to have any problems with the microphone, like in Chicago, Dallas, it was not that bad, maybe some people in the back of the room had difficulty hearing it, but we have a professional place that will have the sound suitable for all of us. I'm going to release a smash hit and talk about the biggest surprise in spitting chicken history to open the season in Pittsburgh.
They have a game. How about this kicker also on Thursday in October? Is it 12, 11 or something like that? I think on the 11th they open the season against the Arizona Coyotes oh that's a six nothing win twice in Pittsburgh and then on Saturday they have a second home game to start the season against the Tampa Bay Lightning so we'll be there all day weekend and on Sunday we will probably be going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will visit the Steelers, so it will be a packed weekend to start the season. You will receive Jersey Jerry.
Maybe let's do it. I returned to Pittsburgh on the one. time since they traded me, y'all know i came back as a member of the anaheim duck i was minus four, they petted us in melon arena, i haven't even been to their new building, never seen it, never set foot in it, so the fact that Actually, we're going back to Pittsburgh, oh my gosh, Carson Street biz, do you know how many special guests we're going to have for that? Oh my gosh, it's going to be the best way to start the season for this photo. I'm in a very good mood, right, I can't even talk right now.
I got goosebumps. I'm very excited about this. My heart rate is about a whipping 180. I love to be surprised as well as the listeners. I'm so happy right now. Not a long flight for me, ah yes, I'm shocked. I thought we were going to another city, but I'm fine. I've been in Pittsburgh since I drank from the Stanley Cup in 2009, so I'll be looking forward to it. This whole podcast is coming full circle, it really is a little crazy, but guys, do you think we should send it to Mike Vernon right now and yeah, we should cabbage some?

It kind of sends shivers down your spine a little bit and it was interesting the other day I did an article for ESPN and the only thing they talked about was the battle in Detroit, the fight in Joe, I guess. It was so, yes, they bring back good memories. All those things. Are you still in Calgary these days? Yeah, you retired from the real estate game? Do you keep working? Am I still in a bit of a real estate game? What work for? a business in town, a sign company and I have a couple of other small businesses going.
I'm always curious because guys, when they retire, a lot of them still like to play shiny hockey or skate with their friends, even though it seems like they're goalies. They're done, they're done putting on the pads. Have you ever played hockey after your career as a goalie or even skating as a forward or defenseman? Yes, I participated in the outdoor game with the Montreal Canadiens at the Calgary Flames. I don't know when that year was, it was a long time ago.you have tugboats that rub each other, no, no, we didn't do that, we went, we took a bus and we all put on military uniforms and went paintballing and then we went. even this Russian restaurant was amazing, it was phenomenal that those guys even had the band and people dancing and everything, it was real culture and it was unreal, we experienced their culture and they were so proud of it it was amazing and we had one of the best moments of our lives and we will always remember it and that is what helps unite the teams and it was incredible, we had a great time.
It's a fun way to describe a strip club. No, it wasn't a strip club. It was just a jolt, oh my gosh, so much Mike, I mean, an incredibly amazing career, you had and we, we had a great time talking to you, you had some great stories, we appreciate you coming, no problem and good luck to you . episode

. For you, you have a lot of details that we need to address.
You are going to relaunch your successful series. Because? I know you mentioned it briefly before. What's going on with this friend? So we never launched biz. ago bc on the spit and chickens channel, uh, when I originally joined Barstool and the podcast that's how we launched the ad, uh, because my right-hand man, Pasha, who we brought in before, when I first retired, had jumped . We went right into the media side by doing this series about BC called biznasty Does BC, where we did five

episode

s. I mean we had 17 past and present players make cameos throughout this silly adventure where we traveled to the Costa del Sol that we ended up going to. a victoria we do what we do colony and kamloops uh help me here pasha uh yeah victoria whistler vancouver um kelowna those are the five that yeah, so we had five there and that's where I learned like maybe how to know the time in front of the camera, how to help, behind the scenes and just learning everything about how to create gorilla style content in that, how we filmed it, we met some interesting characters along the way, we've talked about the sound guy. the podcast before, so I'd say about 100,000 people listening right now have seen it as has bc, but a lot of you haven't and are wondering what this idiot is talking about.
It was filmed five years ago. We're re-releasing it on the Spit and Chickens account because after that and after we released it, the door opened for me and Pasha, where you know, companies were approaching us to film commercials, whether it was Watson and now we are talking. on why to buy why to buy right after biz do came out bc was basically an airbnb for motorcycles, rvs, jet skis, whatever and it was a concept created by a couple of guys from alberta so they approached us to do a couple of commercials. Well they only ended up paying us half the money the company struggled and never got off the ground so we've been keeping this stuff on the shelf for four years so we finally thought why not implement it given the fact that we're relaunching biz do bc in the second commercial we linked the sound guy and Pasha.
I guess I'll tell you as a sound guy. The first day we met him was when we filmed episode two and that was in the sunshine Costa with Morgan Riley and he explains how we ended up beating this guy and how the day unfolded yeah so I found the sound guy through others Previous sound guys that I worked with in town, they weren't available, so I recommended this guy, Rodolfo, um, so we showed up the first day. First of all, you should never plan your first day of filming with a new crew on a small boat under the scorching sun.
It was just a gong show, there was no room to move, it was hot. We're trying to film and the boat is turning and there's totally a helicopter in the scene, yes, a real live helicopter from our friend Brad Friesen. We have a 15 minute window to watch a movie with this helicopter business and I'm yelling at each other, it was just Complete Snail Show, but you know everything went well, but with Rodolfo, the sound guy, we were like at the marina and we were, you know, getting ready to go on and he looks at me and goes oh brother like he didn't.
I know how to swim like I'm not very comfortable on boats and we're like, "Oh my God," so we take him out and he's already uncomfortable and then we start incorporating him into jokes and chirping to him and he's like Sitting there and thinking, you know, what did I sign up for, but then I moved forward, you know, a week or two when we posted a lot on social media and he got more comfortable with the team and now he's accepting being this on camera? Rollo, I think the turning point was when you were in Kelowna, we went to the cactus club, we walked in and this guy said, "Hey, sound guy, what's up?", they recognized him, so he started using it and then he ordered money. on the acting side, oh yeah, oh yeah, he got it, he was dating products, he was a real beauty and he's very professional, so we ended up hiring him for more things in the future, but he ended up changing and we absolutely embraced Rodolfo, but He became arrogant very quickly, so we ended up incorporating him in the second why through commercial and in the first, fresh from his Calder cup, it's not called his cup, it's called trophy-winning season.
We have Matt Barzell because I became friends with him. with Adam working with uh at the awards ceremony with sports probably sealed the deal and uh so we got him to accept so it's going to be his first commercial release so we have to know we have to have a star studded event. pass with rodolfo and maddie barzel so we can finally launch these things what are the dates we will do the business bc wednesday august uh that would be wednesday august 24th uh and then the first commercial will be out on friday august 26th and then the second commercial is coming out on Sunday August 28th yeah so this is not an endorsement of this company because it's not it's not taking off I don't even know what's going on with this but we just noticed because we did this gorilla style and I spent weeks preparing it, then a couple of days filming it all, we just thought that our spit and chiclets fans, if you're interested, could watch it on our youtube channel and our social platforms, so look out. which comes out Wednesday and Friday before one and Sunday at two and was there anything else you wanted to mention about these commercials pasha, not just kind of an echo of what you said, I mean, they've been on the shelf for four years and We, you know, put a lot of effort into them, so we just want people to come out and see the art and have a couple of laughs, like we said, this is not a promotion for this company, since the company basically doesn't es they exist, so let's not bury the protagonists, let's not bury the protagonists, they are fun commercials.
The commercials I've ever seen, I haven't seen them, although I'm looking forward to seeing them, although wait, have you seen the shopping? I enjoyed it a lot. I thought they were good, okay, I'll take the good from you, buddy, you're a tough guy, you're a tough salesman, I told you right away, you said what do you think we're talking about, I'm coming, buddy, you gotta free them. It's funny, so we thought we'd mention it at the end of the podcast to refresh people's memories, that they're dating and on top of that, we're going to take another month off here guys and recharge our batteries, uh, content that we're rolling out on the Spit and Chickens YouTube channel.
I highly recommend people who might not venture into that space to go see it. We did a new business because we ended up doing that Road Warriors series where I did an episode with Avery and then the next one was the Newfoundland show where I went and saw senior and and uh and uh and terry ryan uh where we just wanted to do more original content and we continued business on the coast, so we went. and visited three uh echl teams, the first episode coming out is Orlando Pink Whitney Knight, wit, that was the only one he ended up coming to.
Does he have a cameo? She forgot that episode number two will be episode. with derek nesbitt to celebrate his thousandth game with the atlanta gladiators and to conclude it all kb uh kb no swag and nick joined me to go home to wheeling where i played in the echl to conclude the series so we have a three-part series. series coming out on consecutive wednesdays coming out next week after business hits bc and the why buy commercials give you the release dates for orlando atlanta and wheeling g so orlando will be 8 31 which is Wednesday uh Atlanta will be 9 7 which is Wednesday and Wheeling will be 9 14 which is also Wednesday so back to back Wednesdays so I know some of you missed the podcast and we're back up.
Like we've done today, we'll be back on the 20th and then the 19th will be the following week after the last episode of the business hits shore and that will be the sandbag that comes out, so we've got tons lined up. for all of you in the meantime and then of course the live show in Pittsburgh to start the season so I've talked enough uh ra wit pasha g anything else before I wrap up this bad boy uh yeah uh talking about big uh big thing brewing is on track for a limited release in October is that business right in six states, six states to start and a few selective provinces and Canada, it's always a little trickier to release alcohol, but they're doing everything they can to achieve it. the shelves by October 15th in certain provinces and then by the new year it will launch in more states and it will be out quickly and on top of that, tons of amazing products like the hat that I'm wearing and uh, we're going to We'll be doing some amazing collaborations and we'll have some fun with them, like on the Pink Whitney tour that happened in Ontario, out west, and then in Vancouver, we'll do more of that everywhere with big things in the works and then.
Of course Pink Whitney we will also try to get to the east coast of Canada next summer and make more bar appearances where I will be behind the bar pouring this beer and growing it and continuing to interact with our fans and Hopefully if you can give me the finger the double barrel right in my face, like the guy from Saskatoon, just follow Big Dealbrew on Instagram and Bigdealbrew on Twitter because it will be launching everywhere you can find great things brewing in those in the next few weeks, the coming months, but that's your place and just like Pink Whitney, we'll have massive giveaways.
Let's have a Q. Is it a QR code? QR code baby. We will have a QR code on the case. of every big business case that comes up that you can scan will take you to a website and you can enter contests, who knows what you can win, the sky is the limit, so we just want to continue to provide all the people who support our brands with the opportunity to win free stuff and they just like to travel, whatever it is and just like with Pink Whitney, go to your local liquor store, go to where they buy beer and ask for a great deal, tell them what you want.
A great thing is brewing and it's coming to you, you're going to love it. I also think we want to thank Laundry Sauce and our friend Sean as well before we move on to a few more things. Shauna Puzzle has been such an integral part of this podcast. He's a Cameraman, how do you say? Videographer, videographer, videographer, I've always said that word, but he's worked so hard behind the scenes and has carried the load when we were short staffed during a difficult time and in addition to putting out all these clips for the podcast and cutting everything up for YouTube, he dedicated time to help me film these uh biz, he does the coast series and he's editing it right now and he's put in a lot of effort so give him some love and some thanks and it's It's great to have other guys involved because that just it means more videos will be coming out for our fans, so be, you've been a rock for us, we love you, we appreciate you and we can't look at, uh, I can't wait to see all the pictures. you edited it for us and implemented it so you are a great friend, thanks Shawn, he is a great help behind the scenes, great guy too, so last time we left him, he had talked a lotabout Top Gun Maverick.
People were surprised because they hadn't seen it yet and I finally got to see it. I took my mother to see him. She wasn't. I didn't want to wait for the Imax. I waited long enough so I watched it with her. she loved it i loved it but i had to go to imax at the reading mass it's like the biggest screen in new england the movie was amazing and i said it wasn't even a real first movie type it was an entertainment spectacle like me I walked out of there with my mouth open and listened to Tom Cruise like he could get a nomination for best doctor.
I'm not saying the lightning is working, it was like you know the first one is the cocky one like your young man or whatever. I realized that he is like a broken guy like Goose, everything is in his memory, just like the second time I looked at his face all the time. I thought, man, the work he did was very subtle, but it was an incredible job he did. I really hope you get the best performance with it. I know there are still many movies to come out. Absolutely fantastic work, but just pure entertainment, just a popcorn movie, whatever you want to call it, that first training scene, like I'm not trying to spoil it.
It's like 20 minutes into the movie when he gets to the first day of school with the kids when they go up in the air when he's just dominating, that was one of the boats that might have been the most entertaining I've ever seen in movies. 20 years sitting there with the tune playing, I won't spoil it, like everything that was going on was wildly entertaining, I thought it was fantastic. I started it for the third time, second time on imax, that's how good it was, man on fire, yeah. That's all, no, it's phenomenal. I thought I was blown away by how much I liked it and enjoyed it, so if you haven't seen it, check it out, so I'm on team Maverick, hands down.
I love it, well that's because you're supporting your boy, you're your roller coaster, John, John, he, I'll tell you he excels at playing dick, man, he was like playing big dick, I'll leave it at that. I don't want to spoil too much, uh, I think I know you mentioned that you better call Saul. I know you haven't gotten into it yet. You had the finale last week and everything has to be a penis measuring contest nowadays. Oh, was it better than breaking up? Bad blah blah that's dude, they were two totally different shows, both amazing shows, both positive shows, I love the ending, the show is fantastic, but they're completely different shows, I don't know if one is better than the other, I just They are two different. stuff, two different approaches, both are great, but I wouldn't put one over the other, although yeah, I only put it in the outline because a lot of people were pumping up tires online, like let's give credit to the writer of Breaking Bad. who ended up branching out and creating an equally good show, vince gilligan came along, saul, i don't know, i'm not good with actors' names, but bob bodenkirk, he's just excellent, he must have won a couple of emmy awards by now. because of his role and better because everything is correct or not, I think so.
I know he's been nominated but I'm honestly not sure if he's out of my head, but I'm sorry, it's like Brian Cranston is breaking bad, like I don't think people know how good of an actor he is. It was until he did the show because he had to play three different characters and better call Saul. Such phenomenal work by odin kirk. I know he's been nominated, but who should win is Ray Seahorn, who plays Kim Wexler. She was finally nominated for an Emmy. that are coming, she's been doing an excellent job since the first season, so I really hope she gets in there because she deserved it for five years.
She finally she just got nominated, but it's a great show, a little bit slower than Breaking Bad, it's just a different kind of show, but. you know whatever you like best but I'm sick of all this it's better than that just leave it alone enjoy it that grinds your gears good um I would say grinds them it's just you know I guess I wish we could just enjoy things on their own and not have to have them again like a penis measuring contest with all that, yes, but when people do that, what do you care if you just enjoy it on your own?
Yeah, that's why he doesn't concede, because he grinds his gears no, I just said no, what haven't we discussed uh, I think we have everything on the list here, um, let's get to one more thing, actually there's one more thing, um a lot of people have been looking for Pink Whitney products. to spit chiclets major brands getting ready to sell in their retail stores to sell at places like Pure Hockey Golf Town where we already have merchandise if you want that just email wholesale to barstoolsports.com again that's wholesale to barstoolsports.com if you want to get your merchandise in stores and sell it well, let's finish the white dog, but before we do a quick check, I don't know if you watched Blackbird on Apple TV, but phenomenal, I started watching it thanks, it's Blackbird, phenomenal friend, yeah, Taryn Edgerton, the guy who played Elton John in Rocket Man, amazing job and, uh, Paul Walter Hauser, who played Richard Jewell, the big guy. the great actor those two wouldn't tell you what it's about fantastic the old lady and I did it in a couple of nights amazing amazing show check it out if you can and I know we'll give it to you with Close the show now yeah I know it's something to end the program after a fun meeting.
Catching up with all of you has been great, but we know we have two people we just want to mention today. August 23rd is the One Anniversary of the passing of Jimmy Hayes on Broadway and someone who is sorely missed by so many. His wife Kristen is a great person. His two children. We see them a lot. I love seeing them. Special people. Kevin Hayes is one. one of our favorites, so I think being like Jimmy was the term that everyone used after he passed and it's something that I try to do in my life, that is, in terms of bringing energy, enthusiasm and joy to people when you see them and you know them.
That's what Jimmy did, so we want to celebrate the one year anniversary of his passing and we haven't recorded together since, unfortunately, the horrible passing of Ben Stelter, who is the incredible Edmonton Oilers fan. The six year old fought brain cancer harder than anyone could have known, he knew he meant a lot to all the Oilers fans, the players, conor mcdavid talked about him, leon had mentioned him, you saw the special story, uh, with him close to the team and his family seeing the joy in his smile and heart as he was living the dream of being close to the Oilers and for six years.
He's gone too soon so rest in peace Ben and we're thinking about Jimmy and his family so thank you all so much for listening. It's great to catch up. We'll be back in about a month, we have a lot of special things coming out, so as always, thank you for being amazing fans and keep living your life like Jimmy made peace.
