Apr 03, 2024
Hi everyone Aaron, here for zollotech and today Apple released the Iowa 16.5 developer

beta

1. It's available to developers and the iOS 16.5 public

beta

1 also appears to be available to some people, so if you're not already seeing, you will see it. either later today or tomorrow at the latest, but it should be there for most people, this particular update was a very large 5.46 gigabytes, that's because you're moving from a public version of iOS 16.4 to a new beta version that completely reinstalls the operating system at any time. that change from a public version to a beta or from a beta to a public, reinstall the full version and it will be a big installation now that it was released together with iPad OS 16.5 beta 1 Mac OS 13.5 beta 1. look at OS 9.5 beta 1 and then TV OS and homepod Os 16.5 beta 1.

All of them are available now. If you are a developer or a beta tester, now let's take a look at the build number and talk about

what

's new, so we'll go to settings and then Then we'll go to General and you can see that the build number is 20f 5028e. This particular build is the first version, which means there will be some changes, but we'll get more as the betas progress. The first thing new is a new modem. update, so we went from a different version of 1.67.04 to 1.70.00 on the 14 pro Max. It may vary a little depending on the device you have now.

More Interesting Facts About,

ios 16 5 beta 1 is out what s new...

The first new feature or change is if you are using your device and You are not enrolled in the beta program or the developer program, you can still install this with the beta profile, however, this time you will receive a message, so if you enter your configuration, go to software update and you will see that I have IOS 16 as a developer. beta, this is because you have the profile installed and you will see a message here saying that your Apple ID is not currently enrolled in the selected beta program. Join the Apple Beta Software Program or the Apple Developer Program to continue receiving future beta updates.

I really believe in Apple. They will eventually get rid of the beta profile here and maybe they are just doing this to bring it to 16.5 like they had planned to do with 16.4, so make sure you are signed up for that if you want to continue receiving updates and another feature. What they added in 16.5 beta 1 is the ability to use Siri to start a screen recording, so if we press the side button or use the word Siri with the word hey in front of it, we'll just hold down to start a screen. recording you can see on the right it starts recording the screen with 16.4 on the left it actually says sorry I can't help you with that stop recording the screen and then it should stop recording the screen here we go and it says done .

You'll see it's saved, we can go in and see the screen recording, so it's something that was updated with 16.5 beta 1. The first physical changes to the news app within News you'll see here we have a new sports section in 16.4 which wasn't there now, it's very similar to

what

you would set up before with your different favorite teams and things like that, where you can follow it, so now it just has its own dedicated section, it should probably have its own dedicated app, like like Apple Music Classic as they are giving a big push to sports so choose your favorite team, follow your sports results, watch the news about those teams and also what video is live and available now so that it is available now and of course , you can watch all the sports. or just choose from the list here so it's been updated and it's just a little bit of changed news now that Apple released Apple Pay later for some earlier today, it's still not available for everyone and as you can see here in the News Room Apple press, they introduced Apple Pay Later to allow consumers to pay for their purchases over time, so it has a pay later interface and then you can see the different payments that are coming up and it has a pretty nice interface, although I haven't seen it yet, but it gives you expiration dates of what will be available in the next few weeks and Apple calls these loans, so it says that users can apply for Apple pay later loans from fifty to a thousand dollars that They can be used for online and in-app purchases made on iPhone and iPad with merchants that accept Apple Pay, making it a type of loan.
You can add money here and then pay it off over time, so it's a nice little upgrade. If you want to use it, please let me know if it is already activated for you. Apple also launched Apple Music. Classic Now technically came out today, but it launched in the United States yesterday around 11 p.m. m., so Apple Music Classic is its own dedicated app and you can see it here below listening. Now we have a lot of recent plays. Show not only your classical music. that has been played, but also the usual music that has been played along with periods and genres, exclusive albums, new releases and, most basically, a dedicated music app from Apple that looks the same but has more.
If we navigate, we have all the new sections here that have It's kind of a skeuomorphic layout which I found a little strange seeing how Apple was moving away from that, but you can see different genres and more and then maybe go into music from camera, see Beethoven Brahms and more, so you can see more information about and then of course you have your library where you can make playlists and more, you can search by composers and then of course you can search in general, search Chopin's Piano Concerto 2. So you can see everything here if you want to learn.
Learn more about it, see all the different symphonies and more, and who's on the album, so it's just a music app dedicated to classical music. Let me know if it's something you'll use regularly in the comments below for other new features. well we are waiting for some features and there are some changes in the code, we are waiting for the updated next generation carplay that we will see in different cars, we are also waiting for that very updated accessibility mode, that is something we should In the future, we saw screenshots of screen as a sort of leak before where we could completely customize the accessibility for our needs based on what we need, so it could be touch controls, visual controls with voice over and much more.
It looks like iMessage contact key verification is coming soon though, as it looks like there might be something related to this in the code. The code shows a key that might be specifically related to message checks, but it's not active yet as far as I can tell, so there are a few things in the code. Aside from the wording changes, this is a minor update so far and we don't know if they've fixed any bugs if they're working on the photo issue, so let's take a look at that and see if there's any difference, but if we go into the camera, we'll turn off the lights here, make it a little bit dimmer and I know some people want me to try this with maybe a photo of myself, but let's take a photo here, let's take a screenshot and see how it compares if they're very different or what you see is what you get and from what I can tell it looks better but I don't think it's fixed yet some people said it's a little better with iOS 16.4 but it still has a little way to go so I hope Apple be aware and continue working on it at the time of this video.
There's nothing in the comments app yet in terms of new notes. However, they have updated the public website with them, so if we go to the website, you can see it here. says new home feature, a shared manager in a home can now pair or add important accessories so you can share them with someone and then we have some known issues for the home app or home in general, so there's quite a bit going on here but that's all they mentioned in 16.5 beta 1. There's usually a lot more to mention here in terms of known issues, so I hope that means they've actually fixed a lot of bugs in the background when it comes to storage.
A lot of people tell me that the storage is much better with iOS 16.4, it doesn't take up as much space, the system storage doesn't take up as much space, so let me load this and we'll see that the storage finished loading and one thing to note that was strange with 16.5 it's on To get it to load correctly I had to go back to settings and then storage so it was strange that it didn't show up. I did it and then it showed up correctly, but the system data is only 10.35 gigabytes now. cache data, you can use more than that, not a big deal, but it seems to be a lot less than what was used in previous updates.
The same goes for 16.4 so that's great news, let me know how it goes in terms of overall performance. Well on the 14 pro Max so far it's nice and fast and we'll have a look at geekbench in a moment, but it seems to be smooth as you'd expect. Many people said that the animations also seem to be faster in 16.4, but in terms of music. loading different interfaces and things seem to be going nice and fast with the iPhone 11 as it is one of the oldest supported devices, although it is not that old it seems to be pretty fast, let's go ahead and load up Minecraft and see how it works here.
I have not done it. I opened this in quite a while so let's see how fast it loads so it's taking a moment we're already in the game we can press play create new create a new world press create and we'll wait for it to create the world it seems. to move reasonably fast, we'll proceed here, it says build terrain and you can see it's moving around here, okay, it's actually pretty fast there, so now when you draw the background or the distance it's nice and smooth, so the Overall speed was a little slow there for a second while I was drawing the background, but overall it seems nice and fast as far as overall warmth goes.
I know many of you are worried about that, but surprisingly, even though this is a new update, it's barely hot, so it's quite unexpected. I think at this point let's take a quick look at the thermal camera and in the warmest area I've seen 30.8 is the highest I've seen here, let's switch to Fahrenheit the warmest I'm seeing is 89.6 so it's actually cooler than before, so it's great news to stay nice and cool. I don't really worry too much about it, but it's something I know a lot of you care about in terms of overall battery life.
Let's go back to battery here the battery status is 98 for me and if we go back to the last 10 days, iOS 16.4 has not been kind to me battery wise so you see yesterday I had 4 hours and 43 minutes of active screen time 14 hours and 9 minutes of screen downtime. I used about 85 percent of my battery, much of that lighting up my home and lock screen, so I'm hoping it's better this time. Today we've had almost three hours of active screen time and we've used about 50 percent so far it's working a little better but it'll take a few days to know what it's like and I'll do a follow up this weekend where we'll talk about the overall battery life and we'll see how things are.
We are not only going with 16.5 but also 16.4 and if you are wondering if you should install iOS 16.5 beta 1, probably not at this time, this is an early beta version. I would stay on 16.4 for a while because we won't see any major features. updates for a while normally until maybe beta 2 or 3. That's usually what you can expect and as for when to expect iOS 16 dot 5 beta 2 usually in two weeks so I would expect it maybe in the week of the ninth, so maybe. on April 11th about every two weeks for the first betas and then we'll move to a weekly schedule after that, which would put the public launch probably sometime in May, so we'll look at that and then of course WWDC or La Worldwide Developers Conference should happen in the first full week of June and that's where we'll see most of the new features with iOS 17, whatever Apple shows us there, there's a lot to look forward to, but iOS 16.5 will be pretty minimal.
Consider at this point that Apple is working on iOS 17. As for general benchmarks, I took some screenshots of this before, you can see we are on 16.5 I got 2518 for single core 6207 for multi core, this is better than the final version of iOS 16.4 for me, so it went up a little bit on multicore by about 100 or so and then it went up a little bit on single core and the performance feels good, it's solid. I showed you on the iPhone 11, everything seems pretty good. there and that's it so far with iOS 16.5 beta of course if I find more features we'll talk about that over the weekend with the follow up and more but it seems like it's pretty minimal with beta 1 I would expect major changes. with beta 2 or beta 3.but let me know if you've found anything else that I haven't mentioned in the comments below and if you want to get your hands on this wallpaper it will of course be linked in the description.
