Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 | Over a YEAR later!

Apr 04, 2024
Alright guys, welcome back to another Sherman J video, so today we're going to look at my Bowers and Wilkins, the headphones I've had the longest and that cost the most. market for a high-quality pair of headphones, you can still consider the Bower and Wilkins pi 7. I know there are different versions of the Bowers workers, but let's do a

year

-long follow-up on their follow-up with these with these headphones and how. I really like them guys, we're going to spend more than a

year

with the Bowers and Workers Pi7. Now the unique part about these headphones is that they have a lot of power because they are an expensive set of headphones and they are already sold out in the first place. a hundred dollars off is over a year obviously you know when you want the best deals on something if you're willing to wait you can definitely get it because they're between 270 and 290 right now and I got these for 400 at launch so but there are some unique.

I'll have links below if you want to get them from Best Buy or Amazon, but the only thing about these headphones is the sound quality, so the first thing I want to talk about. It's physically how they hold up, they've held up, so with that being said, you can see what the case is like now, the case has some deep grooves here, uh, some abrasions in the paint, fading after a year, though it still looks pretty. well on the back this is where you see the most wear these two little spots light up here for some reason I don't know why it's worn there maybe it's because it was going in and out of my pocket I don't know but again other than that deep groove there and the little abrasions right there from a couple of drops discoloring on the gold part up there, that's nothing major, most cases hold up very well in my experience, but physically the case held up fine and it still charges. one hundred percent also uh on the inside here you can see you know a little bit of uh old uh looks a little old on the inside there I keep this clean I'll put a Q-tip in there from time to time and clean it, but the case looks physically good now the headphones are They look great, they have held up very well over the years over the year, it's been about a year and a half, I think it will last almost two years, I think I got these in May when they were released, I'm not sure when the got yeah I got them in May when they launched so we're in August heading into September 2022.

More Interesting Facts About,

bowers wilkins pi7 over a year later...

So almost a year over a year and a half almost. two years these are doing pretty well, I mean I haven't changed the buds, I just keep the tips clean, you want to clean your tips with some alcohol, don't let your buds get dirty because you know you have earwax. So you want to take a Q-tip, go in there, take this tip off, clean it really good with a little bit of alcohol and then put it back together and make sure it stays fresh, but generally speaking, these have been dropped before, but they're not in bad shape. state. way like I thought they would be like they fell out of my ear but even when I dropped them on a hard surface they just didn't crack or anything, this metal top here is definitely probably the culprit for that, now the bottom The case of the headphones is plastic all around and this is the thing about the headphones, most of them are plastic so take note they both look pretty good apart from this color on the case, They don't look very worn. at all and they still load as they should.

Now when I compare them to the current design earbuds, you know there's a lot to say, you know, these earbuds look different, they still look a little premium compared to some current earbuds like My Galaxy Buds are one of the worst earbuds when it comes to hardware. They're just a big shiny, slippery piece of plastic. They have decent sound quality, but obviously they don't compare to these, but the hardware of the headphones. they still look high quality, I guess they look like that, you know, they're not like a pair of 19 headphones, I guess if you just look at them and then because of the weight, they feel like they're a little bit heavy, so they feel very , very good, I think you will enjoy the weight of these and when you put them in your ear they feel good, they don't fall out.

I've done a lot of testing where I put them in and I'm wondering. Oh my God, it's going to fall. I have worked with these. I work out every morning and I've definitely worked with these, so physically they've done their job. Physically they have done their job and the hardware of these. I've maintained that most headphones won't break unless I like them. You can probably step on them or they will get crushed. They will break. They will break into pieces. Obviously, but as long as you can take good care of your products, you should do it.
Agree with the way these are handling the physical delivery of their business now, the sound quality is what they are most known for or what people have questioned, we will also talk about the battery life, but I think which now it's really about the sound quality. They're guaranteeing four to six hours or something like that, four hours. They're saying you can get about four hours. I think let me check this. I think it's about four hours, but some people were saying I definitely couldn't get four hours, but I think continuous use I don't know anyone I really guess if you're still in the workforce or something and you have to have headphones on, Honestly, I'm right.
I'm not suggesting people use Bluetooth if you're in a job where you have to have it, you can have headphones on all day, get wired headphones, man those are just the best, you have to worry about anything you have. worry about charging your device, but anyway, we'll get back to the battery in a moment, but the sound quality, let's talk about the connectivity for these, you know, as far as staying connected, these are, now we all know we're ready . to bluetooth 5.3 I think about recording this video two or three one, I think it's three, but not many devices have three.
But these are drawbacks. These are bluetooth 5.0 with aptx act adaptive technology, so their aptx covers practically all frequencies. I also have low latency HD on the aptx classic so as far as sound quality connectivity goes these have never dropped, they connect to any device I've put them on and then the connectivity to themselves never has dropped uh and Overall the sound quality when it comes to aptx hd is absolutely phenomenal guys the sound quality you get from these will make you question whether or not you are choosing the right headphones or if it is worth spending that money now.
I didn't get them at launch, a lot of people some bought them and returned them and said I just can't see the 400 price tag and I get it, I get it, some people don't even know who Bowers and Wilkins are. They don't even know the company, huh, but if you are, you consider yourself a bit of an audiophile. I'm a very new audio filer, but I'm willing to try something and spend it if I feel like it's going to be that way. It'll be worth it, so with these, um, I saw them and jumped in there.
I said: you know what I'm not going to look at the price. I'm going to just look at them and at first I was impressed. I was a little hesitant about it when I was still in that phase, like, oh man, should I return them, but I finally stuck with it and they're absolutely great, so the sound quality is something you really only have to worry about. sound, would you say? Probably not, but now I remember that sound quality depends on the user. Everyone's ears are different, so someone might listen to them and say I thought they sounded like garbage or they just didn't have all the foundation you talked about. all the highs and lows just weren't there, the latency was low, everyone will have their own experience with that, but I think with these here you will experience high quality sound, high quality sound, so they have 9.2 dynamic drivers millimeters, uh.
Here too, so you're looking at frequencies from 24 2400 to about just under 2 500. So you'll get all the levels of sound quality you could want on the Bluetooth side, but I think when it comes to range and how it's capable to handle distortion, these are some of the best. I mean, these are some of the best. I don't really know what people expect from headphones, but I do know what people expect from headphones that originally. It costs 400 dollars, you expect high quality sound and when I buy them I compare them to my Sony, which my Sony is like the best brand for me, and currently, some of my journals are these newer Sonys.
These have been available for quite some time. I'll continue this with you guys

later

but Sony is like my favorite headphones and these came and because of that price we were all hesitant whether or not they were initially worth it, I get it, 400 is a lot but again if you consider yourself a Audiophile, you're probably not looking at the price, like there's something you like that you just don't look at. price, just understand it, you know, I feel like people waste money on Starbucks coffee every day, that's five to six dollars, five to ten dollars that you could save and invest, that's just me, five to six dollars a month or five to six miles in Five to six dollars a day, five to ten dollars a day, about 300 dollars that you can invest or just put it in your savings account, but to me, some people might say, Oh , you spent a lot of money on cell phones, you spent a lot. money on headphones spent a lot of money on technology alone, well there is a different return coming from drinking coffee every day wrecks your system, these headphones only give you good quality sound bars so when it comes to the overall package these they are not the overall package at When they came out I guess just because of the price people really criticized these headphones for the price but when I listened to them I could tell the difference in quality compared to my other Sony's not these Sony's I just showed you .
My other Sony's at the time, the quality of them was some of the best and when I bought them, they cost a lot more, maybe over a hundred dollars more, but I think they sounded a lot better and I chose them over my Sony's now. What is the disadvantage? One disadvantage that a person could argue is the battery life. They now claim four hours of battery life. You'll get the battery life you get from these. Let me, I don't know how else to explain it. They don't say four hours of battery life, they say up to four hours of battery life with bluetooth and 15 minutes of charging gives you two hours of charge, so I mean, I really didn't, I guess so.
I don't wear headphones long enough, so every time I've used them I've never worn them for up to four hours. I think it's a long time. I think I could have done it for two hours. I had a long phone call. And that's probably the longest I've used these is about two hours or a little bit two and a half maybe I've had some long phone calls. I've been to conferences that I've been to. You know I need my hands free and I want high quality. cancel everything and when I say cancel everything I mean cancel the noise around me and the active noise cancellation on these is absolutely excellent the sound quality on these is just phenomenal the sound alone is great but then when you cancel out all the noise around you and you're on a phone call because that's predominantly what I use at the time and still do for phone calls, these cancel out sounds so well on your phone calls that you're almost immersed, you can hear every ringtone and it's so quiet like it's so quiet it's like it sounds like the person is in the room with you it's really that good these are some of the best headphones for phone calls I've ever used period they're so good so a few things about these, you can actually plug in the cable that comes with them and use it as a transmitter in your car, uh, for bluetooth, uh, and these also have fast charging, they also have wireless charging, with this case it's wireless charging, but in the In the end, you choose how you want to use the equipment you buy, but having owned these for almost two years, I think it's been a little over a year and a half or more.
They're doing well, you just have to navigate this. this space here carefully because if you are an early adapter, most early adapters don't get the best deal and there were no discounts on these when I bought them, just nothing, there was nothing, you just had to pay the 400 dollars plus tax, uh. and you know you get them, but at one point they were sold out when they were 400 bucks and this white color really sold out quickly I think, but the black ones were selling really well, I think the black ones were nice again. I wish I had to go with those, but these gold ones are absolutely great, the gold and white one, I should say uh, because the other ones are gold and black, but I think the black ones looked, you know, a little more elegant and I like it how they look Beware of getting them, but anyway, these are great headphones, now under $300.
I think you should take advantage of them if you were skeptical the first time, yes you won't get 10hours of battery life with these, but If you want high quality sound and something that is flawless on phone calls, you'd better go for these now that they're over, they're almost two years old and then the price hasn't dropped that much. people might have thought we are going to drop them, I thought I would see them half price after a year, absolutely not now, some people might have gotten some deals where they got them for 250 at one point, I think people were saying but no I know, they may have had a coupon, I don't know, but the point is if you can find these under 300, which they are now under 300, I'll leave links below, I recommend them because they're holding up.
Well, and the sound quality remains the same as from the first day. I'm your manager. If you enjoyed the discussion, check out the following video links below.
