#16 Nov. 20th Tracking a Buck, Opening Weekend Wisconsin Gun Season

in Wisconsin, it's about 10 degrees this morning, there's a wind about 10 miles an hour, so it's cold. I sat there all day yesterday and watched a decent

buck

disappear just as quickly as I did. I saw it, but my plan for today that I'm going to do is kind of a mix of scouting, I still hunt, I'm really going to take my time checking out an area I haven't hiked yet, but I know there must be some big deer in Sawanto. the driveway and there are quite a few fresh deer tracks where I am now, so I didn't feel like carrying all my super heavy warm gear and sitting in a tree all day, so I'm just going to take my time and see what I find.

I've been with Eason on this ridge and about half an hour ago I could hear some Blue Jays leaving, excuse me, I thought maybe there would be some deer up here that the Blue Jays were squawking about and then not too. Long after that, I found a stop on a fawn trail on the deer trail I was following and I followed it for probably 150 yards and I went down this embankment here and I saw the fawn appear and she ran back in that direction, but I see there's a drop here so just a word of advice if you listen to the Blue Jays, chances are I think they're usually chirping at something and usually it's a deer on the trail of another dummy not far away.

Behind her you can see where she peed and it hasn't frozen yet, that's about 10 degrees so it won't take long for it to freeze, as you can see it's just a mess of things up here, they're probably cooking it I'd say . within the next 100 meters, oh, looks like I wasn't clever enough, there are four beds here, that's a good clue, so I guess it was two dollars and two phones they placed it here, they could see me coming. I came from below. It must have risen and burst. I have followed this Buck now about 250 yards. He is among the cattails.

He has to be hit here not far away. I managed to get over my knee. I have some water in my boot. Probably not. Well, in this cold it might not be a full day. Okay, I made it to dry land in this cube. Doll. They seem to have slowed down. They are exploring a pile of garbage. It's nice. It's pretty cool. You probably have two hours. The feeling that they are better. down here somewhere I was right, I just hit it or couldn't tell what it was. I'm going to go look at the rose bush right under this tree, it came within 20 yards of it, it's so thick you can't even see it.

When I got up and started running I couldn't tell what it was. I'm going to sneak up and look at the bed. There is a doe 20 meters in front of me. She didn't know what happened now. She's just watching. She gave a few grunts after she left the first deer. I have to be thankful that the first one was the male and this mass is still here so I'm going to hold out assuming she might be in heat and that should come back for her. She ran into the wind, which is good, oh man, oh I'm bummed because the

did exactly what I said it would do too.

She was looking at this doll and I thought I heard something and I looked and watched for a moment and then I looked again at the mass and then I listened. Something like a deer again so I slowly started to get up and he was there about 25 yards stuck again, I zoomed my scope on him, it's so thick here and he was running I couldn't tell exactly what. He was out to see if he could find his tracks there, to see if he was the same deer. I guess he's the one I've been

tracking

all this time.

My heart is beating at least if I'm standing where that deer saw it. I was right there about 25 yards away on that little doe I was looking at was right there that deer just turned and turned and headed that way, the clue, the clue, it's not that bad, it's probably a book from two years ago. So at least it makes me feel a little better but man the point is sweet so it's so thick it's just a deer magnet the hard part is I've tried it twice now it's too thick to shoot all this is good.

I'm learning for the next few hunts that I'll raze this area at least probably the surrounding 200 yards or so so I'll continue with the wind in my face to do some exploring and from the map it looks like there should be a good place to light a stove for the rest of the afternoon there's a monster trail I think he's lying under that big tree about 50 yards away he's not going to fall I'm going to turn downwind on a hardwood ridge where I saw a lot of deer sign feeding activity open shot over here you also want to place them and wait until night and hopefully mess up it's a monster track although it's definitely a mature mistake okay update for my last video a lot has happened.

I have to get a GoPro or something. I can use the song that was going to appear on that big track that I found thinking he was coming out, which definitely could have been that I thought I started having doubts about it and I thought if I sneaked in there and played them, I really didn't think it would be To be so important, I would probably come back tomorrow and try the same setup, so I started following his tracks towards that Tamarack swamp in a big mass that almost threw me. I shot her at about 10 yards, she saw me or like she was coming right at me, she stopped so someone must have picked her up and I followed that big trail down a path, I probably went two 300 yards and then I lost the trail.

It got really boggy in there as I went over my knees three or four more times, so my feet are soft right now, like I'm walking back to my truck. I found a few spots here, I'll probably hit this area over the next the rest. of the

season

because I probably found at least five or six tracks of big bucks, like big and ripe, without a doubt, without a doubt, the problem in my mind is that it is so thick, try the setup on them, it will be really challenging, but there should be a way to solve it, so unless other interesting things happen between now and when I get back to the truck, this will probably be the end for this video, thanks for sticking around.
