Unpacked Recap: Apple Sheep is jealous of Galaxy S20 Ultra...

Mar 14, 2024
Wow, okay, Samsung just went porn, who cares how much everything puts in? And I'm fine with that. I'm actually really excited to try that s20

ultra

. I already reserved one. I will definitely pre-order. on the 21st and then the s20 will be officially available on March 6th in the US at least I don't care what they're doing in Europe they all have different prices and currencies and stuff right I'm talking about the US for me , but in today's video I just wanted to talk about all the things that excite me about the s20

ultra

and man, it's never been harder to be an Apple

sheep

, that's not true, it's been harder in the past, let's get started, No.

Get me wrong, okay, I love my iPhone, I love my Apple Watch, I love this little ecosystem I started here, but my goodness, Samsung listened and delivered in pretty much every category they could, except one where I feel like there aren't that many people. . We were asking for it, but I'll talk about that later, so today I could go into the raw specs, but instead I'll highlight the s20 ultra because it's the one that's most interesting to me. We have it. 8k video on the main lens which is only on the s20 ultra, if you want 8k video on the regular s 20 and s 20 plus those you have to do it with the telephoto lens which is 3x punched out, that's a bit strange.

More Interesting Facts About,

I'm confused. to why they only allow 8k video for the telephoto lens, but it makes sense. I understand that if the megapixel sensors can't support 8k, it's like I have an 8k at that point. I don't know, I guess if you care about 8k video. on the telephoto lens you can get it, but you can have it on the normal lens with the s20 ultra and that means I'll do an 8k vlog as soon as I get this. I probably won't make many of them, but I at least want to make a vlog filmed entirely in 8k that sounds kind of epic.

I had never filmed anything in 8k before. It's practically unnecessary because very few people have 8k screens and very few people have internet that can sustain an 8k connection. and a lot of people would have a hard time telling the difference in the first place, but I don't care about 8k, they prioritized 120 Hertz too, thanks. I'm glad it ended up being real, although there is a slight drawback. Unfortunately, it won't be 120 Hertz with the Full Quad HD resolution that these smartphones have, so the s20 ultra has a six-point-nine-inch master screen that, of course, far exceeds 1080p, but, out of the box, it's actually standard 1440p locked at 60 Hertz.

However, you have to go to settings and turn on 120 Hertz and when you do, it locks it to 1080p. Some may criticize him for that. I think it's perfectly fine. Most people can't tell the difference between 1080p or 1440p on a phone. first of all 1080p is enough and 120 Hertz that is very notable they have also updated the touch refresh rate to 240 Hertz so when it comes to mobile gaming we all care a lot with our exclusive biweekly Samsung Galaxy skins , yes, absolutely, that's going to be amazing. I'm very excited to have one hundred and twenty hertz on a screen with such thin bezels.
I was happy to see their marks pointed out in your video. They seem to reduce the size of the edge curves, which I was happy about. watching them do it because that always bothered me. I didn't like how sharp the edges were on Samsung phones. I didn't like that the screen fell so much, in fact, I wish they stayed completely flat with them, but hey, we came a lot closer this year and I'm glad you won't hear anyone mention the disappearance of the headphone jack because Apple took the worst part of that criticism and now that we realized that was the way to go, we're just I'll shut up and say, you know what?
Yes, we can remove the jack, obviously, I don't care because I've lived without the headphone jack since long before the iPhone 7 came out, but yes, the s20 ultra can support it. Ultra fast 45 watt wired charging obviously of course also with wireless charging and yes we were absolutely right with the prices that Sony ultra starts at $1400 the cheapest s 20 starts at a thousand dollars and the s 20 plus It costs 1200 dollars. It's definitely up there, but with what you're getting with these phones, I think anyone in the tech community can relate and say yeah, there's no other phone that respects these crazy guys, so I think it's reasonable that you know they're high priced phones but they aren't overly expensive phones there isn't a phone that can do everything these phones can do and be cheaper so it's not overly expensive it's just high end it's just a phone high-quality smart phone and let's also take a moment to talk about the Z.
Flip again with a very stupid name and I don't know why they called it that, but it ended up being 20 dollars cheaper than we thought. It starts at 13 80, which is pretty much 1401 super factor in text and everything, but it will actually be available. on Valentine's Day which I think means it's coming out before the s20 which is a bit strange and I think the most interesting factor about the Z flip is the ultra thin glass they're using, apparently this isn't a plastic screen , which I wonder what that means: it's ultra-thin glass that still allows you to bend back and forth, which to me means it has to be somewhat fragile and we know there will be a crease because Samsung mentioned it in their Oscars commercial on the bottom. corner hey this thing will have a crease so that's normal it sounds like it's not plastic but it will probably have the same drawbacks as plastics so once we do some real world testing with this thing we'll be able to determine how much.
Better, then, the plastic phones we've had, like the Motorola RAZR foldable phone and of course the previous generation Galaxy Fold, which Samsung seems to be moving away from that design for now, but the Z Flip has pretty specs. average for one. That's not a 5G phone for two, it's still not water or dust resistant, although they claim to have designed a hinge that is much more durable than before. It's supposed to keep out dust so the hinge doesn't collect stuff over time. Only two cameras on the back. of this one, which seems like there aren't many anymore given that we just learned about the incredible cameras of the s20, but yes, the Z flip can shoot in normal 4k and as an ultra wide angle on a normal lens, so no telephoto fun in this. 20 ultra you can get a hundred times closer and the demos at the event didn't demonstrate that very well.
I think the 100 Anyone show me the 100x zoom. it's like, I mean, you're zoomed in but it looks like crap, so I don't think anyone's going to use it much, but hey, you can do it with the Z-turn that they tried to show, you can know, like, how to prop the thing up. for taking selfies and stuff like that, it's definitely in gimmick territory for me. I think this is the best foldable, but I still stand by all my claims I made with the Z flip in the past, I just don't think people will be willing to pay that much for a phone that only has a couple of nifty features like that, even They displayed it on stage, so it doesn't seem to be a way to open it with one hand that the YouTubers have mentioned. the razor is a little annoying because every time you take it out of your pocket you have to use both hands to unfold it, which is kind of an intermediate step that we're not used to doing with our smartphones and it doesn't look like there's a way to do it one-handed with the Z flip, maybe there is, but I'm really curious to see how the market will react to that and I'll do my best to get my hands on one too. as long as they ship the product, they didn't ship it to the US but if they ship the Z flip then yes I will buy one so overall I know it would be very easy to get into the complex technology. specifications of the thing, but you know what you can look for yourself.
I want to talk about what Samsung did as a whole today, which I think overall was a good move. They saw what most people criticized them for in the past: the cameras have always been something of an Achilles' heel for the Galaxy line. People always want to choose the iPhone camera or the Pixel camera, but Samsung is known for having pristine displays and solid specs across the board, and they did just that with the S20's real-world tests. Prove otherwise, maybe having all these megapixels won't make much of a difference, but we'll see. I think it was very smart of them to go for the camera this year because it seems to be the only thing that people differentiate from the premium one. smartphones nowadays so they are very expensive yeah and the only thing I mentioned earlier in this video that I feel like they didn't need to push on everyone was the 5g stuff so the regular s 20 and s 20 plus have sub 6 5g, which means it's only about 20% faster than typical LTE, but that's the 20 Ultra actually has millimeter wave 5g, so that's what can get you over a gigabit, but the infrastructure 5g is just not here and if you want to have an option for 5g I totally understand and I know the line was very distorted last year with the s10.
You know, we had like six different phones to choose from and they simplified it this year by only having 5g and before you models. correct me, I know very well that in the UK and Europe you can get a version of the S 20 without 5g and it's 4G only, but for some reason they didn't want to do that in the US. I have no idea why that's not the case . like we have a very wide or very applicable 5g network i mean t-mobile is as fast as verizon's 4g and what you use a smartphone doesn't require gigabit so that's the only thing i think probably increased the price .
Of all these phones, and probably unnecessarily, 90% of what we do on our phones is social media, texting people, making phone calls and occasional video calls, watching YouTube, gaming, and all those things you can do well with LTE. I do not believe you would do it. I need 5g for those things but Samsung wants to push that connectivity and they work directly with companies like Verizon t-mobile and this type of stuff and I've made all my complaints about 5g in the past, you know my opinion on that. but other than that, I feel like they nailed it.
I think they did a very good job. There were some fluffy parts of the event that didn't really need to be there, but overall it was very impressive. I can't wait to try it. cameras I'm most interested in videos, not so much photos and smartphone photos are fine nowadays. I feel like it's ridiculous to compare slightly different colors and everything except 8k 24fps video is decent, you know, I'm used to it. shoot at 60 but for me this is like the first legit 8k camera on a smartphone because there have been other phone cameras that tried but it's under 24 and that's not even traditional video at that point and I'm also a big fan of 120 Hertz. screen, so seeing that there's an option there, I'll turn it on right away.
That's how it's going to affect battery life, given that they're between 4,000 and 5,000 milliamp hours across the line, which is decent, but depending on how they're managed, you know. the snapdragon 865 has a high refresh rate and probably when you shoot 8k video the storage will fill up very very quickly and i also found the storage options to be somewhat limiting so if you go for the $1,000 s20 you can only get it with 128 gigs, you can't get any other internal storage, you have to do everything else with microSD expansion, so they're pushing you to go for that 20 plus, which is an extra $200 and then you can get half a terabyte of storage, which which is good, but again a little more expensive than the entry level s 20 and then of course it's still 128 gigs standard on that $1,400 s 20 ultra so if you're trying to argue that basically if you consider iPhones highest prices for storage configurations, they're pretty much the same prices, no, they're not even the most expensive iPhone you can get, which has half a terabyte of storage, it's just a little more than the cheapest s20 ultra, so once you start Considering the half terabyte option with this 20 ultra, yes Samsung is making more expensive phones but those phones do a lot more and have incredible specs so I think it's justified and overall I applaud them Samsung for getting the technical specifications right because that's what they are. good on and I think that while there won't be many everyday consumers buying these things, the tech community will be very, very happy with these models and their hardware, it's a shame they won't get as many years of support, but let me.
Let me know what you think of the s20 programming, feel free to hit me up on Twitter, join my discord if you have any questions or things you want me to try once I get my hands on them, so thanks everyone for watching, this is your Manzana. soup here see you next time
