, so first up is a silicone mat. Now that I have my silicone mat. For quite a few years I've made a small hole in it by accident, so I think I'll buy a new one very soon, but they come in different sizes and colors. What I love about this mat is that you can get it. paint it when you're painting your crafts and once the paint dries you can clean it right away so let's try it out a little bit we'll put some paint in here and spread it around while that. drying I'm going to put some hot glue in here because these silicone mats are heat resistant which means they won't be damaged by hot glue and it will also be very easy to remove that glue once it cools.

Now that the paint has dried, you can take a warm cloth, just warm water and wipe it off or if it's a little stubborn, you can add a little bit of Dawn dish soap, but it cleans up very easily with just a damp paper towel. towel and the glue now that it has dried, you can peel it right away, saving you a lot of money instead of using craft paper to paint your projects. You can paint them on a silicone mat and clean them between each project. Now my next item is my mini Gorilla glue gun so for many years I had an arrow type glue gun with a detailed tip and I finally ran out and in a pinch I grabbed this mini Gorilla glue gun and it's wonderful that Have a low and high setting so low for some of your fabrics and some of your delicate flowers and then a high setting for more things like wood and plastic.

Now I like to use these smaller mini glue guns because they give you more precise placement of your hot glue instead of the larger glue guns, but this one has worked really well for me and I'm very pleased with it, but it's something that I have to have because I use my glue gun almost daily, which brings me to my third must-have: I have the Gorilla mini glue sticks. You can buy them in a value pack of 75 for about nine dollars. They stick to wood, metal, glass, plastic, floral fabric, leather foam and just about anything. I love these Gorilla glue sticks.

I have tried other glue sticks on the market. in the past, but these are my absolute favorites now. I haven't tried the Dollar Tree glue sticks. If you guys have tried them, let me know how they work, but I'm very pleased with the Gorilla glue stick, so I highly recommend them now, my fourth must-have. -I have some heavy duty scissors, these are the Cobalt heavy duty scissors, you can find them at Lowe's and a two pack, they have a large one and then a smaller, more precise scissor, for about six dollars, they have these grip handles soft and these are ideal for cutting thicker materials.
Thicker fabrics. Some very thin wooden craft sticks. They are just a great item to have and will save you on your everyday scissors, that way you won't wear out your everyday scissors cutting those thicker items. The next item is a utility knife or some people call them box blades or box cutters. These are perfect for getting a more precise cut if you are adding scrapbook paper to a project and need to trim the outside, this will be much closer. If you need to cut the size of those very thick MDF type signs, you can mark your project a few times and those Dollar Tree signs will be split in half, so this is a great tool to have in your craft room.
Next up is my handheld miter shears. I love these sinks. You can cut pieces of wood and plastic. It has a blade that you can change and you can also cut different angles. They are perfect for craft sticks, they cut them very quickly and easily and if you need to angle them like in the project I did with my barn tissue box holder, these are perfect for creating those barn doors or windows and being able to cut these out craft sticks with the 45 edge and then you can join the two together. They are absolutely perfect because they have a soft grip handle, are very lightweight, and are so easy to use that you can also cut thicker pieces like dowels.
As long as it's a soft wood, it will go through there very easily with no problems, so I highly recommend them. You won't be disappointed if you purchase some handheld miter shears now for extra thickness. You would like the paint stirrer sticks and five gallon star shaped paint sticks. and some of the wood planks from Dollar Tree. I recommend a miter box and a hand saw. Mine is very old, as you can see, it has rust everywhere. It has been well used, but it has lasted me many years and they don't cost that much. For a lot of money you can also cut angles on these in any direction and they are super easy to use and as you can see I was doing this on my silicone mat and this is how I made a hole in it to start with but this is a great item so you don't have to take out your big saw.
I love to use it if I just have a few small projects or a few small pieces of wood that I need to cut instead of going for my huge miter saw. It's fine, so we have a little bit of sawdust on the mat, which brings us to the next item. must-have in your craft room: a tabletop vacuum cleaner. I love my little tabletop vacuum, it kicks up glitter. Sawdust that cleans. that debris in a jiffy I like this because it is rechargeable you can just plug it in with the cord that is provided and you will see a little red light when it turns green it is fully charged once mine has a full charge it can last for weeks depending how much I use it, so I don't have to replace any batteries and it's very easy to clean, all you have to do is open it and then empty the waste.
I love this little tabletop vacuum that saves a lot of time cleaning up between projects the next item is a pair of tin snips which come in handy when you need to cut some flowers that are pretty thick like the ones you get at Hobby Lobby and you don't want to ruin your scissors, They are very easy to use and you can also cut pieces of plastic, some thin metals, and it will give you a pretty straight line when using them, so I use them when I created the faux wrought iron bow to cut all those plastic tabs. down to make sure they are nice and straight on all the outside edges you can use this to cut some of the aluminum trays so not only the flower stems are great for many other projects and the next step is a power drill wireless.
You don't have to get this particular brand, you don't even have to get a cordless one, but I recommend having a drill, especially if you're doing larger projects like the three pumpkins I made last fall or the three stomata I made out of two-by-fours, They are great for pre-drilling holes so the wood doesn't split before putting in the screws, so I always recommend having a drill on hand, they are very useful, as I told my husband. He gave me this one. I know it's pretty expensive, but they have much less expensive drills online and at home improvement stores, so it's always good to have something like that on hand so you can attach your number 11 pieces of wood.
It's a staple gun. manual, this is an arrow staple gun, you can find it online and also at Lowe's. They are so useful that they can actually hold a quarter-inch staple, a 3.8-inch staple, or a half-inch staple. They are great if you are making signs that are seasonal and that you know people will keep in the attic during the off-season. If you add some flowers, if you want to make sure those flowers stay in place or the bow stays in place, you can use this staple. gun to attach it to your sign and then you don't have to worry about the hot glue coming apart if someone keeps it in a very hot area out of season, they have a soft grip and some of them are very easy to use.
They are very difficult to push down, they also sell automatic staple guns if maybe you can't get a strong enough grip and need something to be able to use with power that could take the staple further if you can. I didn't push it down hard enough, so that's another option too. Speaking of staples, you've seen me use this several times here over the last few years and that's my go-to staple remover. This is a heavy duty staple remover. It's great if you're removing staples from similar Dollar Tree canvases or need to remove some embellishments from some Dollar Tree projects, this is a great item for removing those hard to remove staples, it really gets in there and pops out, saves you a lot. of time, it simply saves you from having to take out each of those individual staples, so this is a great item to have next.
If you like to spray paint a lot, have one of these plastic spray paints. Susans, this makes it much easier to be able to spray all sides without having to walk around, or if you are using a spray dye and can't access the back, you can spray the item down, turn it over and continue. for spraying without having to move around the object, it's also great if you're painting a project with a brush and want to get a precise line all the way around - say for example you're painting a vase and want to get a perfect line. line around, you can place your vase on the Lazy Susan and hold the brush in place and twist it while you're painting and it will give you a perfectly precise line on that 14th project.
It's a square, you can find this at Dollar Tree now, but I also recommend have a large square, this is perfect for keeping items aligned while you work on them if you do projects with falling Horror pieces or if you have some items that you want to make sure the bottom and sides are aligned and everything is square , this is a perfect item to have in your craft room and last but definitely not least this is not a heat gun because I don't have a heat gun I use a hair dryer this is just my old hair dryer of hair.
I use it to dry my paint between projects to help speed up the process a little more, but what I love about it is that it has the high and low settings, but it also has the cooling function, so if you use it a lot. of hot glue and you have to hold an item in place waiting for the hot glue to set. This is a great way to speed up the cooling of the hot glue so you don't have to hold it as long which is what I love about using my hair dryer instead of a heat gun.
I'm so glad they stayed with me until the end. I have a new item that I just received for Christmas that I want to try out on you for the first time we do it so we can see how well it works and maybe if this becomes a new staple in my craft room as well my husband gave me this lithium electric cutter, it has one blade and says it can cut up to a quarter inch material very good for foam board, thick cardboard, maybe some thin soft wood, you load it with your charging cable. I've already fully charged mine and we're getting ready to test it to see how well it will cut, so I'm going to start with a piece of foam board, of course you know you can cut foam board with your scissors, but I just want to see how close or how straight we can make a cut.
I see that you have to pull the trigger while I'm pressing the button to get it to start right, they are cut pretty straight. I'm pretty impressed with the fact that one of those giant craft sticks doesn't work that well on that because really, if you can see it, just Crush the end like one of these sticker craft sticks, let's see what it does for that again, it's shredded so not so good with thin items. I would definitely still use my handheld miter shears for that because they're going to get me that. Cut cleanly without crushing it, so you won't replace them.
Let's try one of those five gallon star sticks from Walmart. Oh, and I don't think I'm going to cut this because it's too thick. Yes, it will not replace my hand saw. This is too thick. to do that, let's take a look at a piece of fabric, let's see how well it will do with a piece of fabric, let's see what it shreds well, it cuts like butter, so it's a great item for something thin like foam board fabric. but it's not going to replace my miter shears or my hand saw, butIt's something really cool. Thank you very much for spending time with me today.
Take care and I'll see you next time.
