I Built 300 Hours in Creative Mode

May 02, 2024
I've spent over 1700

hours

in Minecraft building a project, the fantasy world from a book I wrote in college, in each video I build a new city each time trying to outdo the last one, which was fine at first but now It's a problem in no way. You're outdoing this friend, come on, but I have one thing going for me. I'm crazy, look at me, no shovel, no, no, you're here, the good news is that today's city is actually the second half of this, so that means I already have a lot of things done, but the bad news I just don't like those things anymore.

Here's the plan. What we are building today is basically a steampunk airport. The center will have a mega palace and will be surrounded by three factions on the left, right and below, most importantly this is all a gigantic steam engine and steam engines need water, that's where we're going to start first. I'll mark the outer edge of the lake, I think it's 800 blocks. So that there is enough space, I am turning this Terra into a magical water fountain like a water volcano, oh, a geyser. I'm thinking of a geyser, no, using a command called teren. I'll generate these really cool rock formations once I have some. that I like, I can copy and paste them around the edge to make a mountain range, okay, but these diamonds are just temporary blocks.

More Interesting Facts About,

i built 300 hours in creative mode...

I have yet to texture them with an area this size. I'm going to save some time with this super simple one. step one of the process run a quick command to mark the shadows, make a slab and create a noise pattern with a bunch of different replacement commands, place on top, select that slab and then rotate it around itself 10,000 times now i have this great cylinder, but if I cut it out, it looks like I still have that pattern all the way around, you'll see why we want that in a minute, step five, select the cylinder and copy it from the bottom, create a world in a brush that pastes my clipboard wherever my cursor is now.

I apply it only to blue. Step seven, circle and apply the pattern all over the terrain. Repeat steps 1-7 with a lighter gradient for the diamond blocks. See super simple, yeah, and now I just add a little bit of water in there and we're there. Golden Wo, this is huge before moving on to the Palace. Many thanks to War Thunder for sponsoring this video. War Thunder is an epic free multiplayer game for PC, Playstation, Xbox and Mac, where you can play in tanks, planes, helicopters and ships. I am very impressed with the graphics, sound and physics of this game. The intense, action-packed gameplay captures the heat of battle in a way I haven't seen before. Look, it doesn't even really have health bars. affects the function of a vehicle the newly released alpha strike update brings better graphics and gameplay Hungarian aviation loads of new equipment and a new map for air and tank battles download War Thunder for free using the link in the description all new players and those who Played less than 6 months receive special bonuses like weong rentals for the P40 E1 plane and M4 tank that come with unique skins a special Eagle of Valor decorator 100,000 silver lions three free premium vehicles a weak premium account and more, the bonus season ends soon, so Don't wait to build again now we can move on to building the city.
I've tried to make steampunk cities in the past, but I always end up veering into other punk territories. This is more diesel punk, well, the inner steam. punk but the outside is more hydraulic Punk, this one was close but it's more Aether Punk than anything else, man, there sure are a lot of punks, right? No it does not matter. I have an idea that the main shape of this city will be a gigantic Floating Gear and I mean huge, this thing will have a diameter of 500 blocks. When I set up the giant circle and started making the spokes and gears, I was totally in the zone, but I quickly realized that this was not the case.
It's not going to be a piece of cake to see these gears here. I have to make sure that they are all exactly 11.25 apart and that they have to be straight and identical. I actually had to use math to get the math right. I swore it at school. I would never need it, but after two long days of crunching the numbers, I was happy with the shape. I added a few more gear designs, but they were pretty simple on a smaller scale. After placing them in place, I put down a couple of layers of moss and stone. having space to build something nice, that looks amazing now that the foundation has been laid we can start bringing this to life.
Today's construction is called the Cloudrunner District and in this world it is a huge shipping hub that meets such high business demands because of one thing. steam power, since this is all a steam engine, the palace will not be just another building, it needs to merge perfectly with the Machinery to the point where you cannot distinguish where the palace begins and the Machine begins, despite that idea. was around there. I shaped it in just a couple of days. I also put the basic colors in place to get an idea of what detail blocks should go where sweet.
I can really see where this is going and now I can work on the detailed pop quiz, how do you make a perfect circle in Minecraft circle generator? right wrong these generators only give me the shape in terms of complete blocks it works but it's like watching a video in 144p it's not good enough we can get closer to this shape By increasing the resolution in the build I do it with a lot of blocks of details like these and softening the shape to the smallest degree, so it looks a lot more like a smooth circle, doesn't it?
Now I can apply the same concept with the straight edges they feel like something is missing here, very good it only took a day and the main Palace has a lot more character now I can move on to the finer points of the textures this is steampunk so which I'm going to make this look like some kind of copper like metal, but this is what I'm not going to use copper for. I will do it with wood although it is not technically metal, if I am careful with how I shade I can produce the same shine. which this would have if it were a reflective surface which is pretty sweet.
I'll see, I also textured with the light source in mind so that it really sells the effect with the exterior done. Might shift gears and dress up the interior initially. I planned for this to be a Grand. Indoor market, but one day I had a better idea, everything you see, everything the light touches, is an Amazon fulfillment center and no, I'm not kidding, welcome to this totally voluntary tour, definitely not mandated by the court, by Mason's air facilities, our airborne steam powered vessels. so we hope it's renewable energy, the products are delivered here at the top of the center.
The packages then descend via gravity shots to the inspection area where state-of-the-art mechanisms detect harmful substances and incinerate any dangerous items. Fortunately, that's a package, not an employee this time after inspection, hundreds of our Wellc compensated employees sort and prepare these packages for shipment along the assembly lines when a package is ready to begin its travel, these retrieval mechanisms skid along the rails and drop the item onto this table from there it is lowered into packaging and wrapped in the Signature Air Mason Kel paper. Once wrapped, the package is assigned a container secured on a pallet and launched down this barely Oosha-compliant ramp into the cargo hold.
This imposing warehouse is filled to the brim with sophisticated rail systems and is sturdy. industrial racks where cargo is deposited when departure time arrives, pallets rush to the loading bay where ships collect their cargo and depart. God bless the sailors, this place is pretty sick, although it took me about 4 days to put this together and make all the parts. Speaking of which, all of this is powered by steam, but we really don't know where the steam power comes from, let's fix that after investing so many details in the logistics center, we're not going to stop now.
I'm going to make an accurate

mode

l of a steam engine, since physics doesn't exist in Minecraft, you won't know how it works, so we'll have to imagine it after doing some research. I decided on this

mode

l, the James Watt steam engine, it is the one that caused the industrial revolution. Revolution, let me show you how it works to generate steam, you need heat, so these round containers will be the pipes for our heaters that run from here to our main heat station which will be inside the building, we'll get to that later, directly above . The heaters are the boilers, they are located right above our heaters and they are filled with water, once the water boils it creates steam that travels through these pipes to the piston chamber and all of this here is a piston arm chamber. control, but it's a little complicated, I don't really understand it either, so I'm not even going to try to explain it when the steam enters this chamber, the change in air pressure moves this piston back and forth as the piston moves.
These bars move with it, they spin the steering wheel that spins the gears that drive the city, voila, hopefully that didn't feel like a lecture, but let's turn physics into a giant city engine, that's cool True, math can be fun, this engine is powerful but it doesn't just work. In itself, there are three things it needs from humans in order to operate, that's where the factions come from. Each of these factions is responsible for one of these vital roles. Many thanks to all the commenters who suggested story ideas for these factions if you want to contribute. into this world, be sure to comment your story ideas below.
Back to construction. I'm going to need some house designs for all three factions. I'm going to leave the main city and build on a new slate with my friend Snor. We are doing a completely different build that stands on its own, but these houses will still be integrated into the main build. I'll get the structures out of the ground later and fit them into construction in just a few

hours

. I had a lovely little sky town unplugged and I spent a few hours adapting the houses into more realistic steampunky versions and they turned out even better than I imagined and they're a little bland but they'll have more personality once I get them. all glued together, very good, these look amazing, you can notice that there are some houses here that I didn't build with snap, that's because I went to my house reservation that I made for the other side of the river.
I made an absolutely ridiculous amount, so it would have been a shame if I hadn't added some of these. They look pretty cool, but this is just the first step, now I can make them much more unique. The Cloudrunner district sits at the top of this magical water. The problem with the correct fountain is that if it goes directly to the boilers, the evaporation process generates a magical precipitate that ruins the engine, so before using it it is necessary to purify the water, so for the aquatic district we will have pipes, water towers, all good. The basic designs look pretty good here, let's paste them into the Aqua Guild.
They are masters at water purification, but they are not the friendliest bunch. In fact, their extreme methods and secrecy have earned them the nickname the Water Mafia now that we have all of these. pipes, we should build a nice building where water can be purified, yes I think that will be good, oh I'm already on it JP, what are you doing here for screen time? I mean, how long have you been squatting? answers o Interiors here, take some historical notes at least yes, that's right R, little bearded Grim The Aquatic Arcanum is basically the district's Fort Knox, this is where the magic is extracted from the water of Wellspring so it can power the steam engines, The entire operation is shrouded in mystery and water.
The mafia likes it that way. They are hiding something. The closely guarded secret is that the purification process has a byproduct. These brilliant gemstones. These minerals have highly concentrated magical power and are extremely valuable. The mafia sells these crystals to the rich. and Powerful through an exclusive hidden market known as The Shadow Market to keep the Enterprise a secret, the strange can only be accessed from a network of hidden passages with addresses only shared with the most elite buyers while JP was working on the interiors I worked on. The exterior of this faction has more life with some Street decorations, although they seem like small changes.
I'm doing Street Deco is one of the most time-consuming parts of the process. I'm not just shaping or coloring now, I'm trying to make this place. feel alive andI'm going to add a final touch on these trees. This looks really cool and now we can move on to the other side. The most iconic part of this faction is the use of automata while animating magic like Golems or Necromancy. It is common in this world the iron class has turned this magic into a science despite not having much magic power they themselves have optimized the automata to work extremely efficiently okay it took me a few hours but I had a good start on my mechanical library here I am.
I am very proud of these little ones. I'll set them aside for a minute while I develop the rest of the exteriors. I like these Sky Bridges I

built

in the main Palace, but I want more of them instead of rebuilding everything. I dissected the first design into a bunch of smaller schematics, if I'm very careful and copy them from the right point, when I paste them they all fit together like this. Now I can make a ton of different designs from this handful of schematics. Basically I just made Minecraft logos and not only did I do this for the scaffolding, I did it for all the pipe decorations, everything with these techniques, the district practically

built

itself, it looks crazy and seeing the mechs on the street makes me think that these people almost treat them like cars and not all cars are parked on the street, which brings us to the first interior of this faction, Golem's garage. my friend cro agreed to build it, but when i showed it to him he had some concerns.
Yeah, Golem's garage is the only one, but it looks like my closet, oh oh, movie Magic baby, it's like NAU or something, yeah, this cozy entrance is just a front behind. the reception is for real, welcome to the real Golem garage for someone who normally doesn't. Cro Interiors knocked this one out of the park, put in five levels with an incredible amount of detail in each one, here we have a little Reception area or and this looks like a small tinkering shop for years of smoke, they all look like Mech maintenance, holy cow, they are these W oil buckets, that's super super smart.
I can't even cover all the amazing things he did here but there is a lot of the materials needed to make these mechs are made here at the alchemical refinery, this is where magical substances and mundane materials are transformed into powerful fuels and this was Approached by my friend Rail, he has done Interiors in the past and always does a good job. I did some last minute polishing on the outside parts and the Ironcloud join was complete. This is incredible. I love how everything turned out well. We've defined two factions and now it's time to address the big one that the ignis collective will take over. the bottom of the disk transforms it into a whole new sprawling city.
I imagine a harsh almost cyberpunk atmosphere. It's a style I've never tackled before, but I have some friends who might take the case. The name Squad Taco Squad. It's my world A cyberpunk city that thrives in the Twilight Where every alley hides secrets and every rooftop whispers, I made real cookies now Oh, I need my space alone, buddy, I need my space for tacos, We'll never do anything together anymore, will you? are they going to teach? me or not, show me Cyber Punk, he says, well, thin, get in line, you know, he's saying that out loud, he knows it's a Power Trip thing.
Oh, we're going to start doing a bunch of different building designs outside of the main build and then. I'll paste them in myself later, this way we can use all the important commands we want without fear of accidentally demolishing something important while taco and D brainstorm. I simply observe their process. What should we do here? Taco, I have an idea here, check your DMs, you just sent me 91 cat Tik toks, did it help? Yeah, I didn't understand it either, but somehow it worked and just seeing them in front of me gave me enough inspiration to work. on my own designs, okay, that's pretty good for our first time.
I just have to do it a billion more times once we had about 10 tower designs. He was ready to place them in the city. The main job of the ignis collective is to provide heat and power for the steam engine, these people have mastered a variety of techniques to power the city's steam engine from their base of operations, the heat plant. Imagine working in a sauna, but instead of relaxing you're struggling with heavy machinery and trying not to move your eyebrows. with experimental fire spells that are more or less the ammunition in the heat plant, the hottest and most dangerous workplace in the Cloud Runer district, the heart of your community is here, the Gilded Gear tavern, this building serves not only as a bar but also as an inn. community center and sanctuary for those in need Jesper, the tavern owner, is a legend for his generosity and for being a guardian to anyone in need.
The upper levels are usually occupied by permanent residents that Jesper has taken in himself with those interiors made of tacos and finished D's. adding their finishing touches to the buildings and it looks like the underground city is practically complete, it looks amazing holy cow this really brings it together you know there's something missing the only thing we need yeah no ships but really no we need it. I have room for them right now, so we're going to have to move outside. The outer ring of the lake is home to the Airship Docks. Thanks to my Minecraft Lego schematics for scaffolding, I was able to put the shape together in about a day or two, unfortunately this isn't as simple as click, click, click build.
These schemes don't always fit together perfectly and it takes a long time to make them cohesive. After a full day of cleaning, it was time to give the document a more worn look. Look, it was a bit of a juggle with the limited colors of the stairs and slab blocks, but the end result wasn't too bad. I made them with some pipes and architectural styles from the upper districts and it ended up tying the whole area together now. For the really exciting part, the airships, I'm going to need a lot of ships for this, so I decided to dive into my build file and recycle some older designs.
Oh, that will work fine. Five down they probably need like 15 more, maybe ah. man yeah this is going to take a while what are you doing oh hey just getting some bow designs. I like boats. I like boats. I want to make some boots in the next few days and became a shipbuilding powerhouse. I jumped between making new designs and adding schematics to the main city. I was churning out new ships like there was no tomorrow and it wasn't long before our energy became contagious, shovel, shovel, look, I have a ton of ship designs, these are pretty. sweet, not sure if they really fit the theme, okay though, the scoop has no flavor, let's pack it up.
Oh, these are very nice, although it doesn't matter, in just a couple of days we had a whole armada of aircraft, this seems crazy and it definitely does. I feel much more alive to complete it. I planted a pine forest to tie everything together. It's amazing how a few trees can transform a space. Maybe more than a few, but still, in the final addition there is a shader package that converts the Cloud Runner. District worthy of its name, this project was a beast, but we have definitely set a new bar for ourselves. Thank you very much to all my friends who helped.
