iOS 17.4.1 is Out! - What's New?

Hi everyone Aaron, here for zolot Tech and today Apple released iOS 17.4.55, one is available worldwide at the same time for everyone and it even appeared if you had beta versions on or off. I'll talk about that in a moment, but along with this Apple also released iPad OS 17.4.55 point7 and iPad OS 16.7 point7, so far there is an update to Watch OS Mac OS TV Os or homepod Os and when I say this is from Various sizes if you don't have beta versions activated. You'll see this comes in at 46.5 megabytes or around that size, around 350 to 450 and depending on how you installed it you might see 6.46 GB or something like that if you had the beta on this should be the same compilation and everything the same.

And let's go ahead and take a look at the build number and then talk about

's new, so we'll go to Settings and then General. As you can see, the build number is 21e 236 and this particular build has a new modem. update so if you have a 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max you should see it go up to version 1.55 Z4 on other devices, it may be another update but either way we should have a modem update which should help with overall connectivity with the cell phone. Networks As for new features, if we go back to the release notes here, it says that the update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users,

I really wish Apple would clarify how I've gone through the last few bugs and reviewed them to see if they fixed any things so far. I haven't seen any delay on the keyboard, so if we go into notes, this is a new note and it seems to be very fast, so it sounds like it's working like you. What you would expect here too, if we were playing music, perhaps using the dynamic island on swipe home, everything seems to be nice and smooth here, so it looks like they've looked at the performance a bit, we'll talk about that in a bit. moment, but there were also some other bugs that will take some time to know if they are actually fixed, for example there were issues with alarms not going off for some people, so if you have an alarm set to wake you up in the morning, sometimes I would just do it.

It doesn't seem like this happened to me, this happened to my wife and many of you also reported this after a few days, there were slowdowns and stutters, overnight restarts, false Siri activations and much more including resurgences and flaws for some people in home controls no. workload sliders and whatnot, it'll take a few days to know if they've actually fixed this, but I really wish Apple would provide more information. If we go to their release notes page, you'll see here that they just saw the downloads. There aren't even any release notes for this update so this is a little strange and I really wish they would give me more information just to let us know what they've actually fixed so we're waiting to see if they've fixed those bugs.

I know. that the wallpaper dimming bug seems to be there and of course they fixed the notification bug and it hasn't come back which is great but the general dimming bug is there. It took me a while to play it, although it actually seemed to appear later. a while as far as security updates, this is something else that's a little bit different this time if we go to Apple's security website and then scroll down, what you'll see is it actually says iOS 17.4.55 maos or see OS below. or they just want everyone to install it first to make sure some of those updates or issues with the previous version aren't exploited;

However, this is something we have seen before; They will update it over time and sometimes it takes hours, sometimes days. and even weeks, depending on when they feel like they need to update it or when they can, so hopefully we'll get more information on that very soon as far as other updates. Apple updated airtags the other day to version 2.0.7 3, however, they have. They haven't updated their website with this yet saying what's on it, but it will probably just say bug fixes and other improvements and it's rolling out slowly, there's no manual way to go ahead and update them, they'll just be updated over time and then some. launched, that's brand new, it's a new website that has manuals, specifications and downloads for all of their products, so if you want to see more information about the iPhone, we'll go to iPhone, we'll go to iPhone 15 Pro Max and then you'll have the User's guide. the repair manual includes more information and the text also talks and also the year it was introduced so this is a really useful reference website that gives different things such as the finish that was available, the size of the capacities and more, so that's great, it's just a place to find all that information and I'll link it in the description below.

Apple also released a new ad today promoting the iPhone 15 Pro if we go to YouTube and on Apple's YouTube channel you will see that it says Don't let me go iPhone. 15 storage touts that the iPhone 15 has more than enough storage for all your photos and more, however, that's if you buy the right capacity, so do they if you buy the 1 tab option or 512 or whatever works for you now. The overall performance so far has been pretty good, of course this takes a few days to measure, but the good news is that it seems to be very smooth and very fast overall, everything seems to be as expected, while for some people it was more or less.

By slowing down you could restart your device and it would act as expected after that, but so far it seems nice and smooth getting into things like control center, swiping back and forth, everything is nice and fast as you would expect As for the overall heat of the device it also seems to be pretty good, of course just after installing an update it will get a little warm which is completely normal but it cooled down quickly for those of you who are worried. I know iOS 17.4 had a lot of weird issues like that, so if we take a look at both of them, they're both running this version, we'll see if they've both gotten hot using the thermal camera on the 15 Pro Max that I was holding. at the hottest point it is between 30 and 31° C, where it was idle it is about 28° C and again in Fahrenheit it is about 89° fah and where it is idle it is about 84° fah, so they both It's going pretty well.

No problems, it's a great sign as it was even hotter than that right in my weekend video while I was using it in that video and we just installed an update so it's a great sign for those of you worried about that and having it overheated. very hot environments as far as battery health and battery life, let's go ahead and take a look at the settings, we'll go to the battery, the battery health is normal and if we dig into that you'll see that I have 138 cycles and finally I went down to 99% I was at 100% a day or two ago last time I checked for some of the videos and that is completely normal, all batteries will deteriorate or degrade over time and it is completely normal for some people see this happen. still, after about 25 cycles this is within the 80% range after a thousand cycles on the 15 Pro Max is what Apple says to expect on other phones, not the 15 series phones you can expect 500 cycles up to 80% in terms of battery life.

Over the past few days while it was at 17.4 it actually seemed to get worse over time so you'll see it starting to get better and it just hasn't been great so only 2 hours and 57 minutes of active screen time 3 hours. and 30 minutes of idle screen time and used about 60-65% of my battery today. I had one hour and 44 minutes of active screen time. 3 hours and 45 minutes of idle screen time and I'm down to 66%. It always takes a few days to measure this as there are processes that need to be done in the background indexing and more, but after that we should be able to determine if the battery has improved, but again, it takes a few days to measure and we'll talk. about this also in the weekend follow up video and if you're wondering if you should install IOS 17.4.55 as it's supposed to have a bunch of bug fixes, however hopefully Apple gives us what that information is and what actually fixes the error. are, but it seems to have improved so far at least on the heat part of the device and just the speed in general, so I would say it's a good update, but we won't know what the security updates are for a few days as for the next release of iOS 17.5 beta 1 could be tomorrow or probably next week, many people suspected new iPads next week and we may or may not get them, but if we do, that's when we can see maybe that update, maybe We don't have iPads. not at all for a while, but iOS 17.5 beta 1 should be tomorrow, which is OD on a Friday or probably Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, then maybe a release date later in April or early May.

Apple is already working on iOS 17.6 and later. of iOS 18, so iOS 18 is expected to be shown in June, probably the first week where we will hear about WWDC as to when it will take place and then we will receive invites later for that and also for Well, the General benchmarks I ran right after installing the update, so they will probably increase, but so far they are pretty good. I have 2914 for single core 7194 for multicore just after installing an update which is pretty good overall and you'll see it's well within range of what we had last weekend, in fact it even beats 17.4 for multicore and I just installed it so I'm hoping this gets even better, but it's within the range of what I'd expect from this device overall, maybe a little. lower for others, but let me know your experience in the comments below, so that's it so far on iOS 17.4.55.
