Mar 18, 2024
Now in this video, I'm going to introduce you to the latest addition to the shop and that's going to be the

powder

coat setup. Now everything is still in a state of construction. Now the oven, uh, Brad Missy and I built. this, oh, a couple of months ago and it's four feet wide, six feet deep, eight feet tall and runs on one hundred and seventy thousand BTU propane, Mr Heater forced air heater, it now hits 475 degrees in about six minutes. but since I only need 400, it works great, I mean, I still need to put the side on it, the side cladding, uh, I have light lever latches for the doors and I also have a PID controller and all that for I have the gas solenoid for Mr Heater.

I just haven't had the chance to do all that yet. I tried it on a little Mr Mr uh Master heater there with the gas solenoid and it works great now with the gun. I bought, looked at a couple different ones, then started watching the Royal Coats YouTube page and ended up with their rc1 um. The videos he made had very good results and I only did a Sprint junior frame and an illusion purple color for my

first

big project and I have been doing everything on my own, like small pieces, this one was a prismatic neon green, then I cleaned it up and I have I've been making my own sail panels for race cars, this is a super matte black Columbia

coating

and it turned out great.

I couldn't be happier with this. What I need to do now is spray this cage car with the uh illusion base coat. I think it's Prismatic's blueberry illusion. I'm going to prepare them. on the stand and let's put this to

powder

thank you thank you thank you foreign foreign I really couldn't be happier with the result. He said the frame is Prismatic Powders Illusion Blueberry with Clear Vision top. coat uh the nerf bars are Prismatic Frost White powders and then a lot of the accessories are Prismatic neon green powder and then I put a clear vision coat on top of that this turned out amazing and this was all done with the Royal Coats rc1 um I think that now the base coat I put the base coat on at 45 KV and I think my air pressure was around 35.

And the base coat came out flawless, I put it in the oven and let it gel. I felt like I kept washing it once it became soft. I'll let it sit for an extra two minutes, that's what the TDS sheet recommended and then when I applied to clean, I lowered my settings to uh, yeah, it's still there. We're actually right at 20 KV and it was a little bit above and it was a little bit above 20 psi 20 22 PSI in the air pressure. You will have to feel it by application and I am in no way making claims. be a professional or something at this because this here is actually.

I've made a lot of small pieces around here on my own. This is the second big job I've done. I made another chassis. I'll post pictures of the uh Junior. Sprint, that was the purple illusion. I didn't get any video of it, but now, for my second big project and with no prior powder

coating

experience, I mean, this really turned out looking great, so yeah, I couldn't be happier. With the uh rc1 from Royal Coats I need it. I was cleaning a little earlier. I have to clean this, but for the gun I bought the fan tip attachment and then I also bought its hopper.
This is why I really wanted to do it. I put on a coat of powder for the lifts of my race car and for my body parts. Now here is one of my sail panels and this was taken with super matte black Columbia coatings with the rc1. I mean, this thing looks cool, so I think what we're going to do. What I'm going to do now is powder this seat. I need to clean the gun. Clean this area. Remove the hanging bar from there. We will turn on the oven. This is working great. It's still a work in progress.
I'm still trying to figure out the heating, it doesn't seem to have any hot spots. I had one there so I had to put that baffle there and now I can see everything is going up there so now I'm thinking about Put a baffle here going up the wall like this to try to direct this but I only have a thermometer of oven here and I have a digital one from the door and they always balance each other, so let me clean the gun. We'll do a color change and put some powder on this seat and put it in the oven.
Foreign. We have nine minutes left, so that's 400 times 10 minutes once the park hits 400, so we're there. The glades are all ready, oh. The pieces look great, so yeah, once again. I don't think I can be happy with the outcome of this work, so I've really put the rc1 through its paces in the last few days, I mean, us. We have done satin black or the super matte black of the Columbia coatings and then we changed the color, then we made the base color for the purple illusion, the only color changed and we made it transparent for the purple illusion and we made the base coat for the illusion. blueberry, we did the clear coat, Clear Vision, then we did the frosty white and I did neon green and Clear Vision again, so it's been a productive couple of days for the rc1 and it's been working perfectly, so yeah, I have this one.
I forgot it. through this last part, so I'll do it in the oven at home. I have this accelerator pedal to throw in the oven there and then I'll call it a day, so yeah, I'll put a link. to rc1 below in my description and I would also like to point out that I am not paid for this in any way. I looked around on YouTube, watched a million videos for Eastwood for Harbor Freight, the mods for both, um, then I found this page for Royal Coat and started watching some of the videos from him. Soon they were offering rc1 and for 400 I decided to give it a try and then I ended up buying the fan tip which I think was on our 39 that I bought the hopper kit for. another 89.
So I'm happy with the unit I have. I haven't had any problems with that. I had a problem and was bleeding some air into the control box. I called him and he took out a solenoid for The unit I had it for a couple of days, but nothing was stopping me from using it, it was just bleeding a little air and I parked it the other morning. I put in the new solenoid. It took me maybe 20 minutes and yeah, it's been back to that, so customer service is great. I don't have anything better I can say about him.
I mean, he seems like a really nice guy and sells a really good product for a guy like me who's just starting out. this and yes, what more can I say? rc1 new guy for the win uh the oven is a work in progress the stand is a work in progress the stand is a work in progress Everything will be finalized here I just want to do what I did I don't want to invest too many resources in this now until I know how to where I'm going with this, but I definitely have some things lined up here in the next few weeks and we'll continue to see how the rc-1 performs. but right now everything in this frame is two stages.
I ended up coming back as you have seen in the video. I put another one of these three actual layers on, there's a second layer of green and then a third layer on the clear chassis. everything was done a base coat, a clear coat, so yeah, I can't. I mean it has an amazing finish, so I can't. I can't ask for a better result for a system in this price range, you really can't, so if anyone is looking to get it. on this or dip your toes into it, I would highly recommend Royal Coats rc1 if you haven't already, please like and subscribe to the channel, hit the bell icon in the corner to know when I upload new content and as always thank you for stopping by and see you in the next video
