Apr 30, 2024
oh oh my gosh, okay, I think it's out, it's not out, hello everyone and welcome back to the Alex V2 auto channel. Today we are in Henley, temporarily, on the outskirts of London, and I have my van and my trailer, which means only one. We are here to pick up a lovely little box. This is a BMW e23 728i 7 Series, the

first

generation of the 7 Series. I think it's from 1985. I'm not really sure because it has a private license plate and it has been out of service. road since 2001 needs, as you can see, quite a bit of work, but the main reason I'm interested in this car is that it has minimal rust, it's absolutely covered in junk, just as it was, it hasn't been left here since 2001 .It was in a poly dome on someone's land somewhere and I bought it from the chat that retrieved it from there.

I'll tell you how much I paid for it in a moment, but come check this out. I can see that the interior is complete, but it's not so much covered in mold as it is covered in cobwebs and dust. It has all its original documentation. It has all its original book packages. There are some really interesting old receipts inside. It has the original Punk head unit which is really cool, needs a very very good cleaning but is complete, no sagging headliner, no broken chairs, all materials in excellent condition, I think the most interesting thing about this car is the fact that this car was owned by a professor. one owner and has made 206,000M which is absolutely incredible, what about the dead rats?

More Interesting Facts About,

starting my barn find bmw for the first time in 25 years...

Oh, the worst thing about this car is that there are rat skeletons in the photos now. I thought it was like a newspaper or some hay or something. that I have to take a look at this car and they are literal skeletons I don't know how many there are there are 1 2 3 four uh five or so this a few

years

ago must have absolutely sucked, must have been unbearable here, but you know, I think with a good Cleaning should go well, it doesn't look like anything was chewed, there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of damage here, but it's grim, I don't even want to touch it, so I'm going to take a look in the trunk because I always like to check one thing when I buy an old BMW and I'm pretty sure everyone does the same thing: the tool kit, if we see if you have a tool kit here, oh, it's complete, look it's a little rusty, but it's all there and, looking here , has their original mats, which are very hard to

find

now, they are very rare, oh no, they are not, I thought. oh no, there are two sets of universal cars and I think these mats are probably as old as I am, but they are brand new which is awesome.

There is also a package of original books here with all its original warranty documents, everything so this It is evident that the car has been cared for throughout its life. I mean, it's been off the road for a long

time

and it's covered in crap. It needs a very good cleaning but I only gave £1,500. Let's put it on the trailer and return it to the unit. and give it a really good cleaning oh my god oh it actually moves a little easier than oh I don't know actually I'm trying to turn it C this is a workout before Taylor checks that rat infestation in that old BMW a reminder To me, if you want to buy a used car, truck or motorcycle, run an upright car, report it

first

to make sure the car you are interested in has not been crashed, stolen or clocked, to give you an example of a good upright car. report, look at this Jaguar XF that actually belongs to his brother.

We can see that we have a green mark for odometer financing and damage, which tells me that this car does not have a shady past and now I will give you an example of a car. vertical report that would make me run a mile of this clear Rena, we can see we have a green tick for the odometer and finances, but an amber warning for damage. If we scroll down a little and open the images, we can see the damage on the front. Keep scrolling down the front it looks like it has had a bit of influence, the rear and size seems fine and keep scrolling down you can see the vehicle was damaged not once but twice and you can see in 2020 in March , it was a category. n immediately and exactly a year later it crashed again, so if you are looking for a Renault Cleo you shouldn't because it's French and you probably bought this car as a clean title car, you know it from the car. vertical now, that is a big lie, so again do yourselves a favor, don't get stung when buying a used car, truck or motorcycle, do a vertical report on the car before you buy, plus you will get a huge, and I want I mean, huge, 20% off using code V2. right Taylor, get your rat out, we're back in the unit, the 728i returned here safely in the back of my trailer.
I'm here with Luke, hi, and we're equipped with gloves and a garbage bag, which means we're going to start in the engine compartment, which is the worst. B. Do we have to start here? So I showed you this briefly a moment ago. Yeah, it looks pretty messy, so I want to put all that in here when you say, when? say um, I can't help but notice that a rat cart is a ribcage, yes, it's oh man alive, I mean, it's been mummified, one look, this is so horrible, right, you can do the rest, that's usually how it is be as it happens.
That all came out of there, lovely, so we're going to do this first and then, uh, and then we're going to flush it all out and decontaminate it, oh my gosh, oh, I didn't even realize this was here, yes, that's who, look. yellow teeth that's Grim just put it in the bag but I don't want to put it in the bag oh god that's a SP oh god that's wedged in it's so big it's actually wedged in I can't get it out just take it out just break it. that's oh oh oh oh oh that's Grim it's big what's that's that's a lot of your wiring has been consumed by this put it in the bag I'm not going to deal with it this is a fantastic amount of fish there's actually a bit of a little bit of genuine tree growth and I literally just took a splinter out of the car so we've removed as much of the rat death as possible so now we're going to give it a good jet wash and see if we can get rid of the rest because there's still some of material here.
I've never really sucked so much rat and rodent material out of a Bas-powered car in my entire life. It was fantastic, we completely filled the vacuum so I'm going to give it a good squirt wash and see if it actually comes out half decent and nice and deep, stick it in there, oh look at this part here Luke, spray that, oh god that's it , oh yeah, how does the oil get here? I don't get it, I'm worried that at some point we might

find

out oh no, my ass is wet now oh what TW, well if you didn't want it to happen oh no if you didn't want it to happen.
I should put it away, shut up, after dealing with my wet ass, we then cleaned, dried and polished the e23 until it was clean enough to eat your dinner. Next it was

time

to put it on the right ramp, so we got series seven. Now inside, I'll put it in the RAM and we'll evaluate the corrosion situation. Hopefully it won't be as bad as the last car you saw, the E28, which was completely rotten and is currently giving me an absolute headache, so I hope this one isn't the same one, so let's put it in a ramp.
I've noticed that even though we brought it in, it's been here for a while, there's still water dripping underneath it, which is discouraging, that's horrible, it's not oily. That's poop, first of all, I can literally smell the rancid fuel, but this tank has a drain, which gives us a ton of problems. We can literally undo that drain of all the stale fuel and put some fresh fuel in it, so that's a good start. We have a little corrosion on the fuel tank straps. We have a small amount of surface corrosion here and there. I know the brakes are seized because it was very difficult to press the rear brakes.
They are fine. there is a little noise in the handbrake, it must be the front that is seized, the entire floor is in perfect condition, all the seals are in perfect condition, there is not a lick as to why my E28 couldn't have been So. In fact, I'm surprised. This one, the exhaust is a little corroded, but it has no holes, no dents, that's really good, Baron takes that into account too. This car has traveled 206,000 miles. This is not a low mileage car. It is in impeccable condition. The front lifting points are. completely solid oh what is that?
Why is it hairy? Oh, that's right, look at the poop. I don't even want to know what sat on this tray underneath, but oh, I'm not taking this off. I'm going to pay a man. to do this, no, I'm not going to touch that, but yes, the chassis legs are absolutely perfect, the front suspension has a little surface corrosion, it looks like the brake flexes will probably need to be done, let's be honest, all the dust covers on the ball joints are dead where the rubbers have dried out again. Same goes for ball joints, so you need pad and disc everywhere, probably calipers everywhere, you'll need tires everywhere.
I don't like the wheels, so I'll probably change them, it needs new suspension arms, but it doesn't need any welding, which takes a load off my shoulders. Thank goodness it literally needs no soldering, but yeah, deep down I'm absolutely delighted with this. So far this was a good purchase. 1,500 pounds for this. Remember that I am happy. I am delighted. The next thing we need to do is see if the engine turns over and starts. I don't think it's going to start, but Fingers crossed it at least turns over, so let's drop it and take a look so we can get back to the ground.
I quickly put a new battery in because the old one was completely toast, it's obviously been there since 2001. I'm going to remove this intake tube and just make sure there are no rats, feces or anything in the intake before I start. I found that the oil looks absolutely perfect in the coolant that is still there, which is amazing, that's what it looks like. It had had a new radiator at some point and new hoses as well. Hopefully, if it has a spark, it might ignite. I don't think it's going to have fuel, the fuel is too rancid to be able to start and I think the fuel.
The pump is probably stuck too, but if we can shove some brake cleaner up its nose and turn the key it might trip for a brief moment so we can hear it, so if it does that, hopefully all it will take It's a fuel pump and some new fuel in the tank and it should start so I'm going to turn this off and see if we get anything because that's just me. Luke is behind the camera. I'm going to try spraying, accelerating and spinning all at once. at the same time, let's try it, no way, no way, oh my god, it's okay, just grab one of the many fire extinguishers we have on hand for this, okay, I think it's outside, it's not outside, just get out, man, run. oh my gosh my heart is going like clappers yes it works join us next time where we put a fuel pump on it and see if it works for more.
I've finished now.
