Once upon a time, a long time ago, there was a tall young man

d Abraham who didn't have much money but worked very hard plowing and gathering. corn, when he wasn't busy working, abraham also loved to read, he read any kind of book he could get his hands on, there were no libraries or bookstores where he lived at the time, so he would borrow books from neighbors and friends if there were words on a page abraham wanted to read them one day abraham borrowed a book from one of his neighbors a teacher the book was about the life of the first president of the united states george washington it was a very big book so abraham had to read it in sections over time, to keep up with it safe, he hid the book between the cracks of his cabin, where he was sure it could not be damaged.

One day, a huge storm swept through with rain and wind and soaked the borrowed book to the end, the book was ruined. and abraham knew he needed to tell the owner of the book the truth about what happened mr crawford, i have bad news for you and abraham embarrassed revealed the book soaked feeling like he let his teacher down i want to pay for it abe added but i don't have enough money. Mr. Crawford decided to allow Abraham to work for three days to pay for the borrowed book that was damaged under his supervision. I will do what you think is right.

Abraham agreed. Well, doing the right thing felt good and that feeling. Trapped with Abraham, he made a promise to himself right then and there to continue doing the right thing even when it was inconvenient. Abraham became famous in the city. He soon began working as a clerk at the local general store, day after day, customers would visit him and buy. things they needed in those days tools food and other items one day a lady who lived far away visited the store and bought a variety of products tea coffee dried apples butter some baking flour she was dressed very elegant abraham helped her find what she needed She paid for her products and then said goodbye that same night, when Abraham was preparing to close the store, he realized that the lady had paid him too much money for what he bought.

Well, this didn't seem right to abraham, so he ventured out into the darkness. and he walked home miles away from the storm abraham always sought to do the right thing it was from these experiences that abraham soon became known in the city when honest people abe noticed and admired him for his actions he continued to work hard to do the right thing and eventually grew up to become president abraham lincoln of the united states of america the end what an amazing story it's not always easy to be honest, especially if there's no one around to find out otherwise, but being honest is a responsibility that We have our family our friends our schools our country and ourselves our world is better when people are honest and that starts with us a penny did you find this on the ground?
