force for a long time. He is qualified for this. A great man. How does having commanded in the Pacific and the Middle East distinguish you from other senior commanders? Not everyone has that kind of experience. If he is lucky, he may have the opportunity to command a region of the world. He had the privilege of commanding multiple regions of the world. He went toe-to-toe against North Korea while a lower-ranking commander led at higher levels in the Middle East against the Islamic State that opposed Iran and carried out operations in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
Throughout the Indo Pacific region he gained air force related experience across those regions. I imagine in those roles he would have played an important role communicating with our allied armies. He seems particularly important when it comes to countering the Chinese military. That's correct. The United States is a committed global leader and countries look to the United States for examples of professionalism and skill in the military art. His engagements with other air forces and other senior defense leaders, not just the air forces, will be important as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. When it comes to internal problems in the US military, there are many, including reports of sexual assault.
In the air force in particular, reports of sexual assault increased significantly when he was air force chief. Is he doing enough to address the persistent problem? It is a persistent problem that requires constant attention and work to drive it forward. Teammates don't do that to each other. I know he takes this very seriously and will continue to do so. They are both members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who work on a day-to-day basis. Contrary to what Hollywood shows, generals are not cut from the same cloth. Each general and admiral are different individuals who bring their personality and experiences. General Milley is known to be more expressive than General Brown. Both provide excellent military advice to the Secretary of Defense, the National Security Council, the National Security Council, and the President.
