Link's Awakening Remake 100% in 2:51:57 (FWR) (Commentated)

Mar 07, 2024
Hello everyone, I'm the lion filming here and this is Link's Awakening 100 at 251-57. This is a glitchy speedrun of the game and 100 for Link's Awakening change means you have to obtain every item that permanently affects Link's inventory, so this means collecting all 50 secret seashells, all 14 chamber stones, 32 heart pieces and the nine heart containers. It starts off pretty tame here, um, most of the optimization in the early game comes from just moving with tight lines and doing what you can to go a little faster, there are damage boosts and shield hits you can do to save some of overtime and I We'll go over them once we get there first, we're approaching our first mistake in quotes.

I think it's been ruled that it's not really a bug, but this is an animation override that saves about 1.5 seconds or so. Normally, Link stands there holding a sword. for a while, but as you can see, we activate our shield by holding it. There's also another bug that astute viewers might have noticed on the right side of the screen, the octarok was stuck inside the bushes, that's a little weird, it doesn't happen every day. execute, but it's common enough that I've seen it enough times to not be surprised anymore. Now obviously this is a

remake

of the original Game Boy games of lynx Awakening um the Gameboy Awakening

link

s and The Game Boy Color

link

s Awakening DX, I think officially.

This is more of a

remake

of Link's Awakening DX considering the inclusion of the colored dungeon, but regardless of this remake it adds a lot of new content, I think it is one of the best Zelda remakes because it adds a lot of collectibles and that makes 100 very, very . It was funny when I listed the 100 requirements, you may have noticed that there are almost twice as many seashells as the original sets and also a lot more heart pieces and one more heart container, which is a little strange, but we'll do it. Review that later, now rippies are a very important part of this race.

I'm going to collect our first chest of 50 rupees. There are quite a few mini-games here that cost one rupee to play and we must use them to shop. There are also quite a few expensive things. You might be thinking that we can steal everything, and while we can steal all the items in the store, there are also some unique items that we can't steal, so the beginning of the game is pretty normal. I played the game a bunch of times and I'm trying to complete it 100. I could do some of the same things we're doing here, just go, get the dust, get the rupees, but once we get to dungeon one, things are going to change quite a bit.

A little bit, there's our first shield hit and there's another little optimization if you activate Terran mode and Tanooki and the bush at the same time, while technically Taryn first and then the bush will disappear after completing the cutscene so you don't have to. Cut it off and it also stops Taryn from getting in her way most of the time. He figures strangely in the plot of this game, so we'll see him several times during the run, but we actually end up avoiding some of the speeches from her not all of our first collectible here is the heart piece.
I think this is probably one of the most commonly found secrets in the game when I was a kid. I remember finding it on the Game Boy version and being super proud of myself, but there are quite a few things harder to find there, so here's our first instance of the hot game. It's quite different from its Game Boy counterpart and in fact we'll be revisiting the trending game several times during our latest release. In reality, the visits will be many, many visits, since we get all the figures. This game added some sort of souvenir figures as part of a small side quest that you can do on this first visit, although we will only grab the Yoshi doll, which will allow us to start the trade mission and take the middle part of the trade mission.
Actually, we have a way to bypass all trade missions and that is RNG manipulation. Normally the trade mission is done so you can read the darkness. book in the library and learn the egg pattern to traverse the depths of the egg; However, in our quick runs, we actually pre-manipulate our file to have a default path for the egg, so that any percentage speed runs don't have to do the commercial search. For us though, and 100, there are actually a couple of seashells that are locked behind the trade mission, so you have to make certain items and then a merchant or trader will give you a secret seashell, so that It was our first instance of theft and we will do it.
I'll be doing this several times during the race, I think a total of 10 or 11 times, so get used to this dying animation, it will get longer and longer each time and as we steal more hearts, it's super nice in this game. Although, if we couldn't steal, it would be much more difficult to play Route. You would have to work for a long time on some mini-games to get the rupees you need. There are many expensive items. this game and in fact that reminds me that I had a kind of joke designed to make an immortal run of 100, so now we equip the shovel that will allow us to unearth some secrets.
Also, I make that menu inside because I feel like there's a little bit less lag in the menu. This game actually has a bit of menu lag when you first open the menu, you have to wait a little bit before you can start moving the cursor, so if it ever seems like I open a menu and it's just not doing anything , it's on purpose, so now that we have completed the tours of Mabe Village that we can do right now, let's head to the first dungeon, now this speed is a little unique because there There are not many sequence jumps, but there are a lot of jumps important within our kind of normal route dungeon.
One will actually be one of the sequence jumps we do for much of the middle of the game. No, I wouldn't say it's played. as usual, but you know the route makes sense, you go from the fourth dungeon or the third dungeon to the fourth and the fifth and then all that, so I do a damage increase there from the spark. It's useful, it saves a little time as well. If the mini mold's arm gets in your way you can get iframes and go through it and if you're on the left side of it when you open the chest, when you use those iframes it actually allows you to get a second damage boost sometimes, but that's pretty weird.
Here is our first 2D section. This game has many of these. We'll actually avoid some of them, but they're part of what makes this game very charming and now we get Rock's Feather, uh, not Breath of the Wild, it wasn't the first Zelda game that allowed you to jump at your own pace. command, that would have to go to Link's Awakening or, I guess, Zelda 2, if you want to get more technical about it, but I don't. I don't think people generally like to talk about loneliness, so we're going a little out of our way here with the training mission and now I realize I completely forgot to mention that, yeah, we just got out of dungeon one after getting the pen.
So this is our first kind of break in the sequence in the Run dungeon um. There are actually a couple of secret seashells that we can't get until we have a few more items. Laughter later, so if you've played this game before, you might be wondering how. In fact, we will be able to progress with the story considering that we have not beaten the dungeons, so we can't really access dungeon two or we can do it normally once you beat dungeon 1, the Bow Wow is activated. The mission is missing. um, since we haven't cleared dungeon one, we need an alternative method to enter dungeon 2. and we're going to use this Cuckoo just for that.
I really don't want to spoil this trick, so I think I'll explain it. Then we also have another seashell on these sheets here, so our first major problem of the run is known as Bow Wow, it jumps for us at 100, it's more of a Bow Wow delay, but this allows us to enter the dungeon 2 without having to do it. complete dungeon one, the way it works is you have the chicken like, uh, it sucks you and then it shoots, it spits on you and you rub against the chicken and it kind of attaches itself at an angle to the trees, foreign dungeon that in any percentage has gone through multiple major jumps, um 100 button, we have never had and still don't have any jumps here because we have to fight the genius boss to get the heart container and both jumps in this dungeon involve avoiding it completely. the Genie or incapacitate the genie, there's dungeon 2, he hits the warp and we'll go into more detail about the Works of Enoch once we use them in the run, but basically there's a trick where you use this little guy to warp up to the end of the dungeon, but that trick takes you directly to the instrument and not the boss, and when you're in the instrument room, the door closes behind you and Genie jumps, uh, just skips the genie fight, so the only part 100 really has to do, uh. is what is omitted, so obviously we can't do that.
I actually messed up a little bit in the stimulus room here, but I'm glad I did because it'll make it easier to grab these five rupees, these five rupees, um, I guess I could. Let's say this blue ruby that now has a high rip count is good because it allows me to skip that chest over there, which is a 20 ruby chest. After this dungeon, we will buy Tracy's medicine, which has a variable price, either costing 28 rupees or 42 rupees costs 28 rupees if your kill count is even and costs 42 rupees if your kill count is odd. You can count your kills so you don't have to worry about collecting rupees and you don't have to worry about collecting that chest, um, but during this run I completely forgot about it because it was actually kind of a d-rust run for me.
I didn't expect to get a big BP here, but luckily I was lucky enough to get a good amount of rupees anyway, so even if I got 42 I could still buy some of the medicine, so like I said before, we have to do this boss , which is a bit of a bummer. For perspective, this dungeon lasts about five minutes and 25 seconds and about a minute at a time. 50 seconds is spent simply on this fight, higher or lower depending on how fast you go in the fire. While most of the fight is waiting, we actually have a combat strategy that we'll use on a couple more bosses.
Also known as a double spin, basically when Link's sword is at a certain angle against an opponent, the sword spin will actually hit the enemy twice and one rotation, this allows us to do quite a bit of damage per damage instead of both. normal. The damage that the spin bar does because it's two for two, that makes sense, so now I get that double spin bar. I actually don't have to worry about getting a Double Spin Slush, um, because Genie only requires a Double Spin Slush to be able to too simple and two cycles is the fastest you can do.
Genie, I don't think anyone has done a cycle. I'm pretty sure that's not possible, although I might wonder if Genie gets hurt by the arrows. Hmm, might be something to consider now. Dungeon 2 is done um during a live split speed race um most of the racers split and I split when the instrument text box appears, so this race I think was in 1858 or 1857. I went one of the first to keep track um sub 19 is pretty nice I start at 100 and I'm getting quite a few rupees to make up for that 20 rupees chest I missed. Oh, and there's a guardian acorn.
I guess I can explain the mechanics of the guardian acorns and the power chunk now. Guardian Acorn basically works. so every time you get 14 kills without taking damage, a guardian acorn will appear and that will be half the amount of damage you take from enemies. Why do you get an item that has damage after taking no damage? Who knows? There's also the power piece that uh increases the damage of your regular slashes and increases your speed very slightly and that happens every 32 kills plus the number of heart containers you have. We also grab Tracy's medicine, which is an item that revives Link every time he dies.
Uh no, that's not it. a safety Strat um that will allow us to complete a trick much later in the Run um, probably within an hour and 50 minutes from now and will save us minutes to get it as soon as possible just because it's on the way. We are going to go back to the store and this is one of the rare occasions where we are not actually going to steal, we are just going to be good citizens and buy 20 bombs in a store, if being a good citizen is associated with buying bombs, no I know, I guess that's up to you, but bombs are a staple of the Zelda series and they're also a staple of Zelda speedrunning because they're very often one of the most broken elements in Zelda games, um and this.
The game is no different,We'll use these bombs to do a wide variety of glitches, and in fact, here's another major glitch. This one doesn't involve bombs. This is Villa skip villaskip allows us to skip Cadillac Castle. I'm thinking about it. I really don't know why it's called Villa skip because you still enter Richard's Villa. I think this is the Villa area. I assume the Village is his house, so you skip entering his house, but you skip Cadillac Castle, which is a very long side quest. in which you take five Golden Leaves and return them to Richard because his castle was taken by a group of fierce enemies, but we don't have to worry about that because the five Golden Leaves are not a permanent addition. the inventory, so we don't really worry about that and there are no items inside Candlelight Castle that we have to grab the other couple of, uh, a couple of items in the garden here, oh, actually, I messed up the jump, which It's a little silly, but to be honest, it's tighter than it looks.
You can do it directly in front of the heart piece, but I think it helps to go from the center of the holes, but now we're going to enter dungeon three and this will be our first example of major glitches within a dungeon and every dungeon after this one. it will have a glitch inside, also when we go back to dungeon one for some reason as the dungeons get harder that also influences how glitch they have. foreign dungeon its trick is based on collecting a bunch of keys um, I don't actually remember the name of the official dungeon, I think it's called Key Cavern um, but I don't quite remember it.
Remember if it's a colloquial term or not, first from there I actually did a little menu strategy. If you see that the ball could move towards the vertical part of the room, it is faster to equip arrows instead of bombs immediately to be able to shoot. the bomb instead of walking around the entire room and probably getting hit by the smashed stealths along the way, so I mentioned that it's important to collect a lot of keys and yet the speedrun without glitch and the glitch ends up doing this for us. We actually don't have to collect more than that at the beginning those four small key blocks are not going to stop our powerful bombs.
This is a trick known as crazy bomb. I honestly couldn't tell you how it works. I don't think anyone really understands how it works but for some reason when Link is holding bombs and shooting certain ledges he's able to levitate upwards, it's very very strange but it allows us to break quite a few dungeons here so now I have the boots , the Pegasus boots are very very nice, very refreshing after playing for 26 minutes just walking, the boots are Link's fastest form of movement and I do a little screen reload there so I can bring the zoles and the gels lap. to prepare for another trick, to get to that fence on the other side because I'm going to do a bomb jump and if I didn't reload them, they would have loaded on this screen here when I came back in. from the dadango snake room and that would have been disastrous for dropping that bomb, so it was a nice bomb jump.
That trick is actually a lot easier than it sounds, but it's still a pretty tight framework. I just use a visual cue from the bomb. it flashes red and then I charge and jump and I get it most of the time, so now that the dungeon is complete, we've done all the hard stuff, we just need to make the boss, uh, pretty easy. I think most casual players will probably have a pretty easy time of it. with this boss too, unless they really can't figure out the weakness, um, but yeah, you just cut his eye out in the first phase four times.
Oh, it looks like I missed the first hit, um, so yeah, you slashed four times and then darted across the break. they broke up they beat him up and now I'm on one heart so I have to be careful not to get hit here come on oops okay that's pretty unfortunate so at this point I was debating resetting it like I said before we need the medicine for a cheat and now I lost it so I'll have to buy it again later and also this dungeon 3 was at a cold pace and then it was lost I think about eight seconds so yeah no it doesn't look good for a speed. run um I lost about eight seconds there and I'm going to waste a little more time afterwards to go back and buy the medicine, that's a pretty dumb mistake, uh, pretty weird, um, I actually can't remember the last time I died in that fight , Well.
I guess right then, um, but now I'm going to buy the medicine again, uh, once I get close to Tracy's store again, for now we won't worry about it, we'll put it out of our minds and pretend like that was. a decent dungeon three, so we're not done with dungeon 3 yet, but we actually have to go back in because like I said before, we need to collect quite a few rupees still even though we steal, so we're going to collect a 300 Chest rupees from that stealth room to the right, those fancy jumps weren't just for loot.
Stealths are very big trolls, if you don't make specific setups they can sometimes dodge your attacks very easily, they are quite agile bony friends. I guess it's true that bonus people tend to be the most agile, so you'll see me stop my runs in different ways during this race. There's the normal stop where I just slow down, which is technically what it is. a bit of a debate among runners um there are jumps, you have to stop and there are cuts, cutting is by far the slowest way to stop, it wastes 10 frames, jumping, it wastes three frames from landing and stopping, it's actually a bit variable, um, if you are going in a straight line, stopping normally by moving the stick in the other direction is slower than jumping, but most of the time you are not going in a straight line, you are going through curves, so I prefer to stop. just by moving the joystick back, I think it would have been better to jump, but right there I think it was better to stop normally.
The next step is an adjustment. Well, first I'm in trouble. Next up is a cool Overworld. trick I found when I started running this category. You don't need the fins to get the shell. You can just jump around the Donut blocks. Initially it was believed that you had to jump from the lower island to get that shell. no fins um and that's pixel perfect I think frame perfect jumping is very very very stupid um it's not worth trying and runs at all um but I found an alternative method that allows you to do it, I guess fancy speed racers would call It's viable RTA, that spark is impossible to nullify, no matter how hard you try and try, you always get hit on the first one, so segments like these are part of what makes 100 my favorite category.
It's super unique, you can do a lot of things. cool movement like around these little holes there and there are fun routes like when you put the stick there and then you turn around and put those seashells on the heart piece and then you're already trading the stick to this guy and then we're still go in a loop and get more seashells and that's a lot of fun. Also, this is by far the best scene in the game. Karen is pretty dumb, so this room has a movement optimization that I really messed up in this run, um, you can.
Get between the water and that zero shark, um, but it's pretty tight, I always try because I'm dumb. If you don't want to do it, you can jump over the zero, um and obviously that's faster than falling. falling into the water or getting hit, but I have a pretty good idea of the position required, but I didn't get it right on this occasion, so it may seem like we're going a little off our path to Animal Village. but activating these four points will be very useful for later and we also have to do the trade quest here anyway, so now that we have finished dungeon three we might be wondering why we haven't done anything to advance the plot of the dungeon. dungeon 4, that's because In fact, we're going to head to the colored dungeon right now.
The Color Dungeon was a unique dungeon added in the DX version of the Game Boy games, in the release of Link's Awakening for the Game Boy Color and is a color-themed dungeon that allows. to get a pretty good reward at the end you choose what kind of robe you want in Link's Awakening DX 100 um from what I've heard it doesn't really matter much what robe you choose um it's a matter of just a small amount of seconds but in This game the red tunic is much preferred. I ran a marathon once and had a bidding war between the blue and red tunic and the blue tunic and realized it's a lot slower than I thought.
You don't understand the words. I guess I should explain that the red robe increases the amount of damage you deal and the blue robe decreases the amount of damage you take, so this dungeon, despite its simple appearance, is actually deceptively difficult. There are three bosses, each with a unique quick kill, I actually screw up this one, but I get the others, and movement is also very, very difficult, most of the rooms look very, very simple, but, for example, in that first room where I had to kill them. three ghosts um, I actually had to do a specific move to get them to come out at a certain time and we're going to do it again in a short time here um, but yeah, you actually have to manipulate the time it takes for the ghosts to come out by doing a specific move, so here is the next room.
I activate those reds first and then the screen, I jump and activate it, so it's a pretty quick way to do the room. I think I did it a little faster. before, but that's basically the ideal of what you want, so now comes the next boss of the colored dungeon, this is Stone Golem despite the very wooden look of him, he is Stone Golem. I think he's a little silly, but yeah, you have to twist it and cut it while you're at it. You are falling and make sure you don't get hit by the rocks. If you mess up and wait too long to hit him, he'll start double-flicking and drop even more rocks and it won't be fun at all.
I hate to ruin that fight. luckily we understood, it's much harder to recover a ruined fight there than it is to recover the other two fights, so this is the Bingo room, which is actually probably the place where you can waste the most time when you're first learning this. dungeon, luckily I have a pretty good room there, basically you want to avoid the pellets. I don't actually know what those guys' names are, but you want to keep them from coming out of their shells again. I guess they look a bit alike. the robots in episode three of star wars, the ones that attack ships, that's what i always think about so here's our final boss from the colored dungeon known as chroma club and in german i probably deleted that pronunciation um , but in Japanese I think in the game.
Japanese boy version, his name is D, which is a very strange name, but now we have our raw robe. I don't know how to pronounce it either, red robe. red robe the red robe doesn't increase the damage of all your threatening attacks it just uh increases the damage of your regular slashes this is similar to how the power piece works if only the red robe also made us move faster like the power piece um but Yes, the red robe only increases the amount of damage your usual slashes deal, which may seem a little minuscule, but ends up helping quite a bit later in the run, so let's steal a little more here, nothing new after steal.
We are going to do the Dream Shrine and that involves Link dreaming while he is inside the wind fish dream and also inside that dream. Link can collect two different items. It's something strange. Don't know. Links Links on Nerf Link and there we are. Wow, I got trolled by the power piece that does absolutely nothing for us in the red robe. A power piece and the red robe do not stack. I think I'd actually be more upset if they did because that means I might have to route them. at some point, but no, they don't stack, so it's pure waste of time, especially now that we have boots and we don't walk anywhere, the speed boost doesn't help either, I guess it helps right there, but that's it, I What happens to the piece? of power is that you lose two seconds to grab and if you get a little bit of power and then walk the maximum distance you can walk, you still end up losing like 0.2.
I think it's still a waste of time even if you get all the Save Movement Time now we're back to game 20 and it's time for the worst item ever. Seashells and the modern game are notoriously difficult with 100 racers and probably casual players as well. Now, if I'm really lucky, I might be able to do it. to get it, oh my god, sorry I'm not a very good actor, obviously I did this race so I already know the results, yes we got that shell on the first try, which is a blessing from the Lord above, it's very It's very rare to get that shell on the first try, especially when you've been running for 40 minutes.
I think the average is actually like three tries, but it can be absolutely terrible. In fact, in my last PB, my256, I had to leave and re-enter. So I decided to go away and make that shell later, but we also have our first figure, fortunately, a very, very easy figure to capture. There will be some difficult and very strangely shaped figures later on but the first one the Chow Chow figure is pretty easy or the Snoopston figure yeah now that we've done more Mabe Village tasks so we can go back to dungeon one again and now that we have boots and bombs, our 2B items and Bonks so that our three features are, we can finish dungeon one, so We start by just grabbing this key and I have to say that this dungeon is pretty dumb with boots.
I think a lot of the rooms are designed with you in mind, with nothing to make you move quickly, so a lot of the rooms are quite small. and there's this giant room, uh, that's supposed to be wide to explore, but once we get there, it's actually going to feel a little silly because we're just going to go through the whole thing and here's that big room again, yeah, so that you can see. Why is it better to return with a more improved item kit instead of doing this dungeon and then coming here? Yeah, look, we just walked through this entire room when it's normally super, super slow.
Now a disappointing part is that I really wish for the red robe. Also increased the damage of your spinning slashes, um, because Moldorm ends up taking the same amount of time to fight with the red robe as it does with the green robe, um, because the spin flashes but the green robes still deal two damage, so I you hit twice. with the green tunic with two twist cuts in this race I think I use a twist cut and then a normal cut. I will say that the fight is quite a bit easier because you run less risk of being thrown into the gaps in the corners, um when you're holding the sword towards a spinning bar, a bold or an orm can just crash into your sword and you're screwed and you can't. make no entrance and they force you to corner him and it's very stupid and annoying and this fight is annoying and it's annoying.
I mention aggravating, I don't think I mentioned aggravating, but yeah, D1 completed a very, very fun dungeon with boots and now that we're done with the color dungeon and we're done with dungeon one, we're free to go back to our main quest and start taking. in dungeon 4. The external benefit of doing D1 later is also that you avoid that owl scene. You'll also avoid the guys throwing the ball in this scene where they tell you that Bow Wow is missing, so you can skip two scenes, which is pretty nice Rock trolled me there oh well, this category is really nice because you can enjoy a nice little date with Marin Foreign is actually a bit of a funny anecdote, you have to say yes here, but when I first started running this game I thought it was optimal to say no and then yes, so I was actually freeing up a lot of time in each execution.
However, this was my first week running the game, so this is one of the 50 rupee chests that I think we can skip. A big part of being good at 100 is learning how to do some routing on the fly and clear out Ruby chests you might not need while collecting lost rupees in the wild, come on, so the desert is actually one of the most important areas. sealed and locked in this game, it's actually one of the only areas that we haven't really found a way to get into through rifts, so we have to do Marin's day to get in here and we have to get in here because There is a piece of heart, two seashells and the key to dungeon 4 and according to the rules of the category, we have to get the keys even if we have ways to bypass them.
Here is the line mola lanmola is annoying as it is in every Zelda game it appears in, it is possible to cycle it, but I was partly wrong and partly unlucky, so we had to settle for two cycles. It's a little quicker to just walk in and then pick up the key. um because you get kind of full movement speed as you go down the shaft and you also get the heart piece. Thanks, so I've actually picked up quite a few more blue roofs than usual in this race, um, which has kind of helped me get my rip account back.
In fact, I ended up finishing this race with a lot more rupees than I expected just because I performed so well in the mini-games. If you don't do so well, that's why you have extra rubies, but now. we learn Meren's song a lot of interaction with Marin here, okay, foreign, very beautiful. I like the parrot or the toucan. I guess the toucan on the left, the toucan and the bear, we definitely, friends, have a little bit hanging on the fence, but that's not it. Uh, this is a bit of a jump. I don't really know what you would call this.
I guess it's a movement technique. Normally you could work to buffer a keyhole access to the dungeon. But I found that it's actually a little faster. Just move to the seashell mansion and then jump onto that crazy looking fish ladder. Now it's actually quite a bit faster to just run backwards instead of taking this war, but since we need this warp later on, it actually ends up being faster. grabbing it now is really the only chance we have until we need to use it again uh like in two hours not two hours but an hour and a half or so a little movement optimization it's a little faster also jumping off the stairs because you' You can start your movement a little faster.
This puzzle is good. You can actually solve it as it should without having to enter and re-enter the ladder. I think when I casually played I did the ladder, but this room is probably the hardest. I feel like there's room to get it right in terms of movement, I always mess it up. I don't think it's technically the hardest thing, but it's as easy to Bonk there as I did, that wasted quite a bit of time. I will say that it's one of the things I quite enjoy about 100 is that it's a little less frustrating to make those little one-second mistakes because there are so many more opportunities to get big minutes of time saved in foreign categories.
I tend to get a little neurotic. every so often except for this, although it's intense on its own, it's intense for very different reasons, so now we're going to make our next bomb here in dungeon four, this one will levitate us to the top and allow us to get the boss. key immediately, which is very, very good for 100 and very good for other categories as well. We've drastically shortened the time it takes to dungeon 4. Those 10 bombs weren't necessary, but I think it's good practice to keep searching for them. because you need them in basically every other category and the jump is a little tight, so all we collect in dungeon four is a Forest and a small key.
The small key is simply so we can fight the white mini boss ball that allows us. to get the fins, I don't know why I walked when I had iframes, but any white ball is an annoyingly difficult fight, it's not very difficult, but if you make a mistake, you waste a lot of time, okay, that was a perfect fight. Normally you have to do a quick turn at the end, but since I read the robe I didn't have to do that, so now we have the fins and we can go ahead and complete the dungeon after dungeon four.
There is a ghost encounter scheduled. Who is really stopping you from entering more dungeons? For this reason, all other categories weigh until the end of the race to beat this dungeon. However, for us, on the one hand, I don't think there's really any way to avoid getting the ghost at 100 - you'd have to do a very, very dumb route, which involves replacing the ghost with another companion, and on top of that, the ghost gives us a bottle we need anyway, so it's a lot faster for us to beat the dungeon now, so I'm going to use more double spin slashes here, um, it's actually not super super optimal, no, they don't help that much at 100 the double twist cuts um as the regular cuts do a lot of damage on their own but for me it just helps in terms of getting the angle fish position right.
I've tried fights where I just spam and a lot of times that leads to pushing the piranha killer, as it's known in German, to the top of the screen and it's over. being quite sloppy and messy to fight him, but that was a very good D4, just a couple of small mistakes there, oh and I guess I completely forgot to mention the jump to the boss room which also skips a small key immediately after complete. the dungeon, let's go into this cave here and get Mondo's Mambo. Mambo's Mambo is a great song and allows you to warp to any warp point on the map outside of the Game Boy versions, but this version can't surprise you one bit.
What I said, considering Mambo's monpo, it's not that good of a song in the Game Boy games, it just sends you to Mambo's pond, which is actually not that fascinating, but for now we'll continue with the trade mission, in You can actually do it if you're good at the game, just run towards that door, but I messed up my movement a little so I had to stop to not hit the side, which I've also done a few times, so now we get Christine's letter. . which we will give later we made a small mistake in the menu, it is quite difficult to remember the specific movements for each map menu, it is faster to use the d-pad if you use the control stick, the cursor will slide on the map, but if you use the d-pad it will instantly lock on whatever warp point is closest to the direction you pressed, so I think I turned left and then down left, but my left down registered is right down , so that's why it sent me back to Animal Village or Zoo Dwarf in German.
I think Zudorf is probably where Gannon got his name ending from. This kind of melancholy scene is part of what makes Link's Awakening so enjoyable to me. There are many of this type. of heavier nuances um throughout the game um and I think it's a pretty beautiful game in itself once you break it down. I actually missed the Zora there so I had to dive under it once I swam really fast there because I jumped and landed on the back of the Zora so I got a really good damage boost. This neat little secret path will allow us to get another Heart Piece that I actually narrowly missed and will lead us to our first of three ability upgrades. in this game they're really good because there's only one and it doubles the amount of each ability you have and recharges, uh, whatever you're upgrading, which is absolutely incredible for routing.
If we didn't get this, we would have to go back to it. quite a few extra bomb refills, so now we work on Mambo's Pond and this is where I'll be buying the medicine again, which is a little embarrassing for my divisions because it makes a segment that's usually pretty consistent a little bit longer than uh. normally it could be, well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes or whatever Reddit says, so now let's finish the ghost side quest, bring uh, I think it's officially a ghost kid, but I guess it doesn't really matter, bring them their final resting place where you will be rewarded with a bottle and although bottles are super useful in Ocarina of Time in Majora's Mask, uh, it sucks in this game, we don't use them at all, actually our bottles, even so good in Majora's.
Mask I think they are not as good as Ocarina of Time. I don't remember very well, so let's find out some more secret items, get our seashells, get a piece of heart, actually wait, yeah, the heart pieces later, but we got two seashells and then. By getting our piece, we get a nice push cancel, which is a little trick that allows you to start moving immediately after pushing a block. It saves about 0.4 seconds if you do it manually with the shields, but it's perfectly framed so it's not really worth it. going there is automatic, um, if you take damage it will automatically cancel you, so it's worth it.
If you did all the cancels in the first split of the game, you'd end up saving about two seconds, but that's five frame-perfect tricks to save two seconds, which isn't really worth it, especially without a good visual indicator or something, if If there was a good visual or audio cue, you might consider doing it, but basically it's just muscle memory and perfect frame. muscle memory isn't the most reliable, so now that we have all our collectibles we can enter dungeon 5. This dungeon is fun but also really annoying. There are quite a few RNG rooms here specifically this first one.
The room can waste a few seconds in an optimal pattern and the boss of this dungeon is a toss-up on whether you can attack or not. I think there is a way to make it so that it becomes a 75 instead. But I do not do it. I don't really know that method and it's a little more difficult than I'm willing to accept. I guess I don't know, maybeat this point now that i've had a good run i'll start giving it a try so this dungeon is a bit repetitive um i missed it oh my god ok i forgot how bad that room was um it should normally be super quick with the red mail, but well, um, so this dungeon is a little repetitive, this is master stalfos and you fight him four times, which is kind of like that. a lot of them got hit there which made us lose a second, it's probably a little difficult because every time I practice this, most of the time, when I'm in dungeon 5, I have the green robe, so the hit pack, I'm sorry, the return blow was dealt to the teacher.
Stealthos is a little bit shorter, um, so it's a little harder for me to adapt. I usually don't get hit, although I do buy my own bombs. I mean, oh wow, that time I ran right into him, huh, so I probably lost maybe two and one. Half a second maybe more from those two fights, but overall that's not too bad considering in my PB I lost, I think 40 seconds is nice too, double blue, I think I lost about 40 seconds in this dungeon because I screwed up the bug that we had. Do any percentage here. um is able to skip this dungeon entirely and in fact, I guess I should mention that there's a new cheat that was discovered not very recently, but recently enough that there really isn't a good setup for it, um, and there is a trick. that would save about a minute and a half in this category.
I think one minute 40 was the final time, um decided time, saves about 30 seconds and 90 uh, this new version, um, but the trick we're about to do is known as the Hookshot Rocket. and it involves picking up a bomb while the hook falls on your head so the hook and the bomb collide and when that happens the hook launches into the air and takes you with it and then you're on the walls. and then at whatever percentage you walk to the end of the dungeon and that's it, you just have to go back to hookshot in this category since we have to fight the boss and since that doesn't give us the hookshot, uh.
We only use this trick to get to the boss key early, which to get to the boss key, this method is faster than going and then getting the hook shot immediately. It's better to delay the hookshot and get the boss key instead of taking the falcon hookshot. and uh delay boss key wait what did I do? I don't know, I hope you understand what I mean. I think I tripped over my own words there, but yeah, now we have to go back and shoot the hook because we used it to do that trick, um, like I was saying before, there's a new method that allows you to carry the hook with you in exchange for a few 10 seconds of additional preparation time.
I think less. I think it's like seven seconds of extra prep time. if you do it quickly and that's very good because it would allow us to skip needing the boss key and 100 percent um we would just take the hook with us to the walls, grab it, get on the walls and then immediately fight the boss, fortunately, that's not how things are going right now, that trick is, I think it's the hardest trick in the game period, um and I think the runners of this game have everyone who has tried the trick. I think they've reached a consensus that RTA isn't really viable.
However, I have a friend, Snow Miser, in second place and 100 who have really been perfecting the trick. pretty much um I think he's going to start trying and run it because he has about a 40 success rate which is a lot higher than anyone else and if you get it on a second try you still finish. I think he only loses a little if you do the second try, so this will end up becoming a reset point, but it's probably worth getting that extra minute and a half and I'm scared because I might start having to try.
Also foreign, uh, cunning food, this is one of the most annoying bosses in the game. Fortunately, I got the single cycle. The way I do this fight is that I just hope he appears on the left side. Some people just wait for him. to appear at the bottom, some people only expect it to appear at the top and some people only expect it to appear on the right side. I think it's basically preference, one of those patterns probably won't work because of the RNG of the tail or not orange, the tail pattern, for me, the left side has always worked, so I do it on the left side, and that fight is the reason why the red robe is super, super good, if we didn't have the red robe we would actually want to route a chunk of power to fight that boss, which is very annoying, it's what you have to do without you fail, if you don't have a damage boosting item or tunic, whatever, that fight is impossible in a loop and means you have to deal with even more RNG, so now it's time to go into D6 and furthermore, enter dungeon 6.
It's also time to finally rescue Bow Wow from captivity. It took us a little while, but this ends up being the fastest time to rescue Bow Wow. It also ends up being the best time because we can just get out of this area. There are certain times where the flags are placed so that if you rescue Bow Wow, you will be locked out of this cave, so you have to do it. Mambo walks away which wastes some time um but at the point of the race we do Bow Wow and I actually walk here because normally Bow Wow runs towards you but of course Bowa trolls me and he'll be trolling me quite a bit during this race anyway. we can just autoload, wait, I never talked about autoload?
Hi, I'm a terrible commenter. Okay, autoloading is a mechanic in this game. It's basically just a fancy name for a simple concept. um, it's just loading your autosave, but yeah, so. I have now rescued Bow Wow, who will provide us with almost no assistance during this race. Oh look, he's telling me where the shell is because I missed it. What a helpful guy. Some runners really like Bow Wow. They think it's cute. I'm not a big fan I've played with Bow Wow many times and I think literal surrenders don't like Bow Wow either because sometimes he gets in a really bad mood and refuses to eat the flowers you need him to eat to enter the dungeon too and without failures.
Yeah, um, this split is actually, I think the longest task-based split in the race, that blue rep was completely unnecessary to grab um, but I accepted anyway, um, that was just I don't know, it was a little fool I actually had. I think at one point I had a pattern where Bow Wow completely blocked my hook shot here you do a little right angle down to come back um and I had one time where the bow was completely in the way so bow Wow, You can randomly decide to change your speed to a Let's Play. This is actually the end of the exchange sequence here.
Once we do this trade item, we'll actually jump to the end of the trade mission by doing a trick. known as early lens that was on the very old route of any percentage exchanging that letter. We swapped Christine for her and she is very happy that we managed to make this guy believe that a very respectable goat lady is actually Princess Peach from the hit Mario series he is absolutely in love she is presumably getting some money or something like that uh I don't know there are some dark undertones in this game sometimes maybe she's just embarrassed and shy and maybe when they meet in real life you know he will realize it and he'll say okay I love you so what are you inside I don't know um now we're done with the mysterious forest that's the end of the mystery for us we're done we're leaving goodbye no We go back and go to Animal Village and as part of the 100 requirements we have to get the key dungeon 6, but we also don't have a way to enter dungeon 6 anyway, there is a way to enter dungeon six. with the rooster, but unfortunately to get the rooster you need to beat dungeon six, so we have a bit of a dilemma there, if we had a way to get the rooster before beating dungeon six, the route would be absolutely insane for one thing, um , and it would also mean that we don't have to get this key here in terms of any percentage and 100, you have to take the keys, which always trips me up, um, when I started running this category, I was actually I like the idea of not include keys anymore, but I've come to understand that having a consistent set of rules is good, actually, yeah, we're just going to collect some seashells here, there's one hidden in what's known.
Like the Armos maze that we're also going to take, this is a pretty fun area to move around in when you don't have to worry about health like you do at 100 or like no and 100 um and whatever percentage. you have five hearts here and no percentage, he hits Scorpio with four hearts and the weapons do two hearts of damage and the boss that gives you the key does one heart and is very scary so you have to be on your best behavior. to try not to get hit by the weapons, I actually missed that Arrow there, but it's pretty irrelevant, so this Bow Wow area actually tends to help a little by taking care of the souls, how did I Bonk there?
What the hell? Okay, um, that's very strange. normally, um, when you're going around a curve like that, uh, sorry, my voice breaks normally when you're going around a curve like that. The link will manage not to be possessed by the curve. I missed my last mistake there, well, ah. This fight is also quite frustrating at times, this boss has a stupid amount of invincibility frames while jumping and returning from the jump, so he can be quite annoying to deal with if you screw up the pattern. Fortunately, I recovered quite well there, so this. This will be our last set of tasks before we head to dungeon six.
Wow, it happened again, that's fascinating, so it was actually a pretty bad split. I think I ended up losing about six seconds on my PV. Oh, and look, Bow Wow trolled me, that's awesome. Yeah, a lot of that was trolling and the Bonks, so we'll do our last collectible tasks here. This heart piece in the pit in the original games did not have any type of outline. I forgot the intended way. that you're supposed to know that that heart piece is there, I think maybe if you do things with photographs, um also like side tension, I wish they had photographs in this game too anyway, um, I think maybe it's something with the pictures that tells you that the hard piece is there now there is a Strat task for the shell a 100 Strat task where it automatically loads the auto save that is created after you grab that shell um in this game there is a box after loading the game if you're in the water where you can use items um so if you load your auto save inside that box or sorry if you use an item inside a box after loading that auto save you can Mambo to Seashell Mansion and the reason I say it's a test Stratocaster. it's because it saves a total of a second to do that perfect trick, so it's definitely not worth trying in racing, but see what I mean, I see I turned that corner but the other one just wouldn't let me pass, oh. well silly game so now it's time for dungeons so now it's time for dungeon six.
This used to be one of the longest dungeons in the game, but over the course of a few months we kept finding newer and newer glitches that simply broke this. dungeon to shreds um first the glitch route was always like this it was a pretty basic route involving I think a little Skipper two key um and then we graduated to the Dongo jump which was a pretty difficult trick it used to be a tassel to my. then they made RTA viable, um, and then we started doing the Dongo jump races and then I think very shortly after the entry was not very fast, but decent, shortly after the donga jump, we found the trick which we use now, um, and it's quite It's silly, I really don't want to spoil it, so I think I'll hold off on explaining it until we get there, for now, enjoy the game of dungeon six here, oh foreign man, so that it's another one of our bomb nutters, this one is pretty unique in that you just float down a ladder for some reason um I also made a little safety strap to skip screen transitions there unfortunately I counted wrong and I had an extra one there um but yeah, that one Stratocaster makes dungeon six very, very fast, it's only about two and a half minutes long in any percentage category where you don't have to fight the boss, um, and that's part of what makes it so quick, you can skip the boss.
Previously, all of our D6 cheats still required us to fight this very long boss. um, but 100 of us can fight this guy and he's actually a very, very fun boss uh, this is a facade. I'm not even going to try to pronounce the German name and the way that facade works is very, very unique. um, he is influenced by the form. you move around the screen and use alittle Stratocaster here to damage it with the tiles in your room. I got there just early and then ended up falling, so this is actually a very, very bad front fight, but I was able to use a cool little recovery strategy.
Normally, the facade takes no damage if it is more than one square away from a wall, but if it is facing the door, the door extends the hitbox of the Arrow bomb, so if you shoot the door you will still do so. façade damage, so this was a really good D6, um in terms of executing the trick. I got the trick first, I tried it and the whole move was pretty decent, but the front fight was a little sloppy, but what are you going to do now that we've beaten dungeon six um, you might think we're going to go to dungeon seven, Well, if you think you'd be wrong, we'll actually do dungeon 8 and then dungeon seven, which has always been a staple in glitched.
Lynx Awakening runs a very strange menu there, from the discovery of what is known as flame cave jumping. Basically, we've always been doing dungeon 8 before dungeon seven. It provides a much more direct route than normal and also. it allows you to skip some cutscenes, um, without fail, you avoid a scene in fact by doing dungeon 7 first of course, and then you do half of dungeon seven and then you do dungeon 8 and then you finish dungeon seven just to We can avoid some cutscenes, but in this run we simply use Flame Cave Skip and that allows us to destroy the end of the game.
Let's have a rooster here. After listening to the frog's song, we will revive the rooster and the rooster. It kind of completely breaks the Overworld movement. There are quite a few errors that you can solve very easily with the rooster. In particular, the ones we use are the aerial climb, the no clip and what is known as rock. A bit immature name. but it's basically just a bug that lets you rock, sorry, lets you walk on some rocks, uh, that you normally wouldn't be able to, so this is the frog song, the best song in the game.
I think the most fascinating thing about this song is Every time people complain, I feel like they have completely different reasons from each other as to why they don't like it. Some people say the singing is bad but the melody is good. Some people say that the singing is good but the melody is good. bad, some people say that specifically the two little frogs are terrible singers, but war is a good singer and then I heard some people say that war is a terrible singer, but the two little frogs are good, um, it's pretty funny, really I enjoy the song. um, I don't know if that's just an inherent contradiction of mine, but I don't know, I've never had a problem with that.
I guess it's supposed to be intentionally bad, but I don't have much musical or rhythmic talent. I don't have any talent to really identify why it's bad, so now we'll have rooster, um, and rooster will replace Bow Wow, since the link can only have one partner at a time and this eliminates our need to return Bow Wow abroad and now it's Time to Fish, this is the most egregious RNG-based part of the Run. You have to catch a cheap, cheap, orange fish of the right size, such that it will give you a piece of heart and a shell.
You have to catch a bug that measures more than 100 centimeters and you have to catch a big blue fish known as Old Baron um that measures more than 150 centimeters. The reason we have these centimeter requirements is because if they're not big enough, they won't actually give you the reward you need and you'll have to catch it again, so these tokens you have here I thought were big enough to get me the piece of heart for some reason, looking back, I don't really know why I chose this cheat sheet, uh, it's very very small, normally you want to choose a bigger one, I think it's 45 or 50, it's the requirement the heart piece.
I think it's 50, and that was 43. I accidentally said yes and wasted 10 rupees there, so it's okay, although we got the cheap one then and green fish is much more common than green fish is the other thing that can give you that 50 centimeter piece of heart. I immediately get a large enough error, which is very nice. I was very happy to see that, so the reason. This is very RNG based, you need to get the right size but you also need to get the right fish and I think the possible percentage chance for Old Baron to spawn is 20 so you need the big blue fish to spawn which is just 20 of the time and you need it to be 150 centimeters or longer, which is only 50 percent of the time, so it's pretty rare to get one big enough and every time you see this white light it means there's a special fish on the pond, so that cheap shape is big enough to give me the piece of heart, but also this green fish is big enough and for some reason this specific place just below the link provides automatic catches, so I decided that I'd rather go for the green fish. although it will give me an extra animation of giving me the medium weight lure, lures are not necessary for 100 because they don't modify your inventory, yes this guy is definitely big enough to give me the heart piece and you can notice that we actually have Oberon at the bottom of the pond, but he's not big enough for us so we're going to avoid catching him for now, so this is probably the silly part that he's doing 100 percent and I actually ended up hitting a percent quite rare probability.
I haven't counted them exactly, but I think it's maybe more than 10 refills and the percentage chance of you getting everything when you do this is very, very high. I had a lot of bad luck. I rigged the heavyweight lure there, which I normally use. I don't do it right away. Usually I check the pawn first and then rig the lure, but this time I figured I needed to take advantage of all the time I can reasonably get because this fishing is on pace to be really bad unless I get it. a really quick catch here which was kind of a silver lining to this fishing. all the fish were caught super super fast so even though it took me a million tries to catch this Old Baron when it really shouldn't have taken me.
During this time, I got a much faster capture than normal, it's pretty random. I don't know exactly the odds of the fish resisting or whatever. Yeah, we got a good catch, that was 159 actually, which is a little bigger than normal. uh, it has a limit of 170, but I think I've only seen one come close to that. I have seen a very very cheap one, cheap though foreign, but yes, total chances of getting all the fish you need in a single pond too. It's pretty annoying trying to get here with the bottle, but if you're careful, it's good.
The key to learning how to fish the bottle is simply having patience. Anyway, you can't rush it. The ability to fish at First Pond is point two. nine percent, so it will be a while before any 100 race achieves that, but a 100 race that achieves that or close to that will surely save a lot of time in this race, that fishing segment lasted 9 minutes and 40 seconds at begin. from the text box after dungeon six, which is about 40 seconds away from my gold, which, while not perfect, I was really glad I didn't waste more time because it's very possible that the fishing is going absolutely terrible and that lose minutes there so the fact that I only lost 40 seconds actually more than 40 seconds but 40 seconds for my gold uh I was very happy so now we are doing a trick called early lens um I mentioned before that the lens is required casually to read the book um but You also need to get a seashell and get the boomerang so we need that a lot, that was a bit of an awkward menu but yeah the magnifying glass will allow us to get a couple of items that we need although not really it is necessary to finish the rest of the trade mission.
We still have to get the lens, so now we go to Sora, who tells us about Gorya, the traitor, on the beach, who we can now also see with the lens, yes, Taronga. strand, which is the beach area, I equipped Marin's song, which may seem a little unconventional, but is actually necessary for Seashell here, she thanks us, says donkey for uh dunk, I think it's just dunk, no I know, dank dunk, I don't know. uh, for handing over his letter, his catfish letter anyway, um, now we talk to the walrus and get a shell, he thinks we're Marin and then he realizes we're not Marin and spits a shell at us, not really I understand. the context behind that shell and I think the existence of that shell probably eluded many casual games, but oh, I tried to throw the rooster behind me, but I pressed too soon.
I have tried many times to make that menu a little. flashier, I feel like I can save a menu there, but every time I try to group it and run it, it always ends up being the same amount of menus, if not more, so here's Korea, give it the bow and give us the boomerang and the boomerang It completely sucks compared to the bow, so we are going to buy the bow again. It's a little silly, but it's necessary for 100, so we have to get it. The boomerang was actually super super cool in the Game Boy version, um, but they nerfed it a lot in this remake for some reason, um, the boomerang was super cool because it shot the eye of death, um, but in this it does less damage that bow, which is very silly, so let's go. to make our first aerial ascent, oh wait, no, our second aerial ascent of the career.
I forgot about the initial lens, this allows us to get this difficult piece very quickly and easily and now we are going to do our second or art. God, I can't. Get this right, our third aerial climb, um, and this is jumping into the flame cave. I got it here first, it's not too hard of a trick, but if your muscle memory is a little messed up, it can be pretty easy to screw it up, uh and now we're doing d8 backdoor um I guess this counts as a rooster without a clip um I didn't mean to pick up that bomb by the way, but I think that ended up saving the race because looking back at the footage, I think that bomb was too low for that to work, yeah, we do a lot of fancy stuff there and then we spawn here and then the rooster floats us to the bridge and yeah now we go into d8, skip the Turtle Rock fight and get a free heart piece wow for some reason I jumped there I don't think it's faster to jump but now that we're on dungeon 8, we'll immediately go back to the beginning and look at our first example of a game-breaking glitch known as he hits warp.
This glitch allows you to skip entire dungeons. At 100, we'll just use it to get the magic wand immediately and then we won't actually go. to use the second one um the previous route was to do this warp unox and then do a second one he hits the warp and then beats the boss but i actually found it was ok along with cinemizer we found out it's faster to do this first . unox warp and then do the no he hits the warp Strat glitches which involves doing a crazy bomb uh to get to the walls and get to the ball early so this was the third try hey Knox job , which isn't great, but it's a perfect 60fps framing trick. um and that one specifically doesn't have the most amazing visual cue of all time, so I was pretty happy with the third try, hey, and now we're just going to go through the walls, this allows us to skip the Plano fight.
We skip two small keys and get the magic wand right away. I actually accidentally went a little far there, which scares the hell out of me, but I end up being fine, so we grab the magic wand and now I'm going to do the warp trick without hinox here, which is actually pretty cool, it ends up being a cool route, okay, I missed the first jump, okay, I missed the second jump, that's good again, here we go, okay, I missed the third jump. That's okay too, okay, the fourth quarter is okay, so this is turning out to be a disaster.
I'm wasting quite a bit of time and I think I probably got a little biased here. I don't know if I would say inclined. I think I got nervous. I don't remember being angry, but I definitely got nervous when I messed up a bunch of times. Yes, this specific crazy bomb is super cool. We make a little Stratocaster here to get into the blocks and then we jump to the wall alignment so we don't fall if your alignment is not accurate, there you can just fall off the wall immediately when you make the screen transition, we have to jump those stairs or if not, Bonk and it's ruined and then we do this and we just jump to the Boston, easy, go into the boss room, go down a little bit, oh uh, oh, it looks like I'm stuck, just go down a little bit, man, oh, it went up , do not do it.
Don't go up, come down, oh, okay, I screwed up and then I came. I got a little upset so I put them all together because I thought I was going to restart and then decided to continue. This is probably, this is definitely. The biggest mistake of Run um. I lost about a minute and a half because of this error, so now all I had to hope for was to be able to reach the cnox warp immediately and it turns outthat I'm better on the harder Stratocaster I use. I don't know why I'm a bit dumb, but whatever it is, it's okay.
I think the biggest thing I can blame is lack of practice. No, he hit the sword trick. Also, this fight is super annoying. I messed up, but whatever, uh, so when I messed up with that trick, it was mainly because it wasn't really the execution itself, the execution itself. I think I lost like 20, maybe 15 seconds or so. trying to do that trick at the beginning, um and falling a bunch of times for no reason, but falling at the end was just because I haven't really done that method of the trick and no, he hits the job, obviously you don't.
If you want to fight the boss, immediately go to the instrument, um, so I don't know, I was a little wrong. I think the nerves were there too, yeah I lost a minute and a half on my gold um which actually ended up being only about 30 seconds for my PB s um interestingly because my PB also had a bad dungeon 8 apparently I can't get a good dungeon 8 or dungeon three and I was able to run, well, as a result of doing that. trick to skip Turtle Rock um, the game waits exactly seven seconds there, it's like it's programmed in the game to wait seven seconds for some reason when the rooster is behind, um, so this is a cockroach walk, um, no you have to do it. all the works in this game, yes, they are not part of the inventory, yes, it would be a bit silly if you had to take all the works from abroad.
I know Twilight Princess gets them all, um, but it's actually like five extra. seconds of gameplay as you get that warp and another one that's close to there as well, so I think as a community we just decided not to do it. I also got that 50 rupees there that I ended up not needing, a big chunk of it I think. Most of the time saved later will end up skipping a lot more of these spooky chests. This is our final capability upgrade. We get dust which is useless except in one case a small enemy we have to fight so there is an example of a no clip um there is a slightly faster version than the one I made there but it ended up working anyway i messed up there too um I wanted to jump back into the bounds but instead I just jumped further out of bounds, it was weird but I still got the jump back into Mounds on the first try so it's no big deal so that that shell, since we don't want to wait for the animation, we desperately run away from it, ah, I guess I could make the joke, oh no, I forgot the shell, um. yeah we just run back to pick it up later, it's a little faster that time I jumped because the rooster was in the way so it helped avoid a possible loss of time and here's a cool little movement optimization, this is a YOLO jump, it's not really a YOLO I always get it, but if you make a mistake you fall and probably lose 45 seconds.
I think in this category you waste a lot more time in any percentage category where you don't get rid of the waterfall vs. D4. um in those categories if you fall you just have to restart after beating dungeon 8 and you end up losing I think between a minute and a half or two minutes I don't remember very well if there are foreigners here um this will allow you to reach dungeon 7 warp, which we will need very soon. I know I just said that not all warps are necessary, but we are going to use this one very soon abroad, so we are about to see it.
It's pretty ridiculous what you can do with this trick. We will use it to descend through a very large portion of the map and it will allow us to enter. the early rafting game, well, not early, allows us to enter the rafting game without a raft, um, and this allows us to collect the piece of heart and the shell found here very, very quickly and easily, unfortunately , the rooster is a bit of a troll, it's faster to float with the rooster instead of swimming through the rapids, so now, at this point in the race, I think we have 46 seashells, we have 44.
The bad thing, well which we're actually going to get four out of five of our seashell rewards because the fourth reward is the level two sword, um, I forgot exactly what it's called, um, but yeah, here we get the level two sword and that allows us deal one more damage, so all of our attacks deal three damage. which is quite a bit and will help us save a lot of time later in this race when we do queen while I'm collecting all these rewards. I think I'm going to take this time to do a more detailed explanation on He Hits Warps because we're about to do a pretty big one to skip all the hidox warps from dungeon seven as a glitch, basically the way they work is every time you hit and grab a link, um.
What's really happening is that Link teleports to his hit hand, so whatever position Link is in, his hit grabs you. If you are in grappling range, you are teleported to the hand he hits so he can throw you if you. interrupt this grab animation like in the box he grabs you, either falling through a hole, taking damage, doing an attack if you can, I think that was a way to make it work too, then you get what's known as henox warp most of the time uh it doesn't really do anything um you'll just nullify yourself for a moment and then respawn right in front of it hits again but on very specific pixels on very specific frames uh In fact, you can get some pretty crazy results, um, and the first instance of this glitch was posted on Reddit, a gameplay clip that someone posted, they accidentally got the glitch in a one in a billion chance that they got the glitch and it worked for them until the end. this dungeon here and everyone in the speedrun community freaked out.
It took them I think two months, it's a month or two, to even come up with a configuration that's close to what that person accidentally achieved and it's a very different configuration than what that person did, uh, I got the first SKU shot of try here. I think I forgot to talk about the excuse earlier in dungeon five. but when you jump link it's fine, I don't know how I screwed it up, but when you jump link, Link's angle can be manipulated a lot more to be basically any 360 degree direction, and the developers didn't think you'd be able to do it. this allows you to make some fairly minor jumps, none of them are important, the d51 keeps a small key in this dungeon, it actually saves quite a bit of time because it allows you to immediately access unix for something. so I try to improvise a strategy here by hitting myself with bomb arrows as I go towards him, he taps and it just didn't go well, we have to reduce our health because for this Unox warp, instead of choosing to take damage. or being interrupted by a hole in the frame that the hinox hits us, we're choosing to take, we're choosing to die, um and dying with medicine actually allows a variety of frames to work, so this Enoch switch is technically easier which in dungeon 8, hit the warp, that's just one frame, uh, because there are several frames that work, the problem is that there are a lot of things, there's not really that much visual signal, so for this one I make a specific configuration that gives me three. frames um to do the trick and those three frames send me to the boss room and any normal percentage you also have three frames to do the trick two of those friends send you to the boss room and one of those frames sends you to the instrument obviously 100 we have to beat the boss so getting the instrument room is really bad and before edl told me about this build that gives you three bathroom frames I had several runs die until I got the instrument room which was very, very It's nonsense, so the fight with the eagle is pretty easy.
I was actually very lucky there. I just had a flurry. Before the gusts were a big waste of time, but we actually learned from the Japanese runners. They looked at their careers and we found out that they were capable. to cancel the burst animation by going to the ladder and going back up I thought I went through the door but I guess I didn't but yeah that's dungeon seven much much faster than it normally would take it takes a lot , long time without the Keynote swerp and we also made our first attempt which is good, it's a three frame hack so it's not super difficult but again, it's a 60fps game so there's still a window tight, so now that we've done dungeon seven, you might be thinking that's basically all done, I mean, how do you have another hour of Run left?
Well, to answer that question, we have a lot of mini-games to do, but we're not actually going to do those mini-games alone. However, first we are going to finish the game and then do those mini-games, which sounds very, very strange, but unfortunately there is exactly one element locked behind finishing the game and creating a save game after the credits, so you should see the credits in this execution. and I'm really sorry that you have to do that, but it's just part of the simple race, since it's part of the 100 requirements that we have to do it.
I've actually thought about doing a max pre-credits percentage route, um or like 100 stones without a camera, I don't know some kind of silly title like that, um, so that the race actually ends with beating the boss, the final boss, but as of now, the final boss is actually only two-thirds of the way into the room, a nice, fun little thing for me to make the credits more fun instead of just sitting there for five minutes. In fact, I have a segment that multiplies the time of my credits. You might think he's a little stupid, but I don't know, I think he's nice.
The moment when I mash is great, it keeps me focused and attentive to the two little points at the end of those five minutes where you have to mash or at the beginning and at the end of those five minute credits, and also at least the credits are not No it's a lot more, you know, there are some games where the credits are like 10 minutes long in foreign language, so like I mentioned before, we don't have to read the book because we're in G, we manipulate our egg pattern to be a pattern specific. I'm currently using what is believed to be the most optimal pattern um uh it has a nice nickname rulu uh which means the actual pattern is right up left up up up up up up up um so it's good because most of your movement here it just goes to Upload and it's very fast, you just run through it, it creates a nice pattern for a while, when this game first ran people before the RNG minute was found, people did it, it I'm so sorry, a super permutation of 100 possible egg patterns, so instead.
After reading the book, they decided they wanted to skip the trade mission and instead try their luck right at the end. Fortunately, that phase didn't last long, at least I never had to deal with it when I started running the game. um, but yeah, that's over, you could end up losing a lot of time in the end if you use a pattern that was very, very far into the permutation, so there's a strategy to avoid getting hit by these blue balls here, but since we have a million of hearts. I just choose to try to get the instant kills by swiping as vigorously as I can.
I use it furiously. This is agonim. Agony works very similar to how it works in A Link to the Past. In this game you shoot an orange ball or a blue ball, the first ball is always orange and then there is a 50% chance of getting an orange or blue ball, um, and you can only have a certain pattern three times in a row, so You can only have three orange balls in a row or three blue balls in a row, so the maximum number of blue balls you can get is nine and the minimum number of blue balls you can get is one.
I decided to go for triples here, something I've never really practiced. There is a bit of technique. for saving a cycle in Death Eye here by getting two triple shots, but I ended up missing all my chances so I had to settle for doing double shots for the last few levels. Yeah, it's not a perfect nightmare fight, but it's good enough, I think I got three. blue balls, which is decent, three blue balls are still in the expected range, you have about a 75 chance of getting three or less and then anything above three is more unlikely, but yeah, that's a nightmare defeated at 205, now we have to deal. with credits, which is kind of silly, but I don't know, it's good to have a good breakpoint in Run, because from this point on there will be no cutscenes, it will be a non-stop game, uh, no- stop the action of the mini-games and although I say mini-games and make them sound easy and trivial, they are actually the most intense part of the race and also the most difficult, so yes, you save the most difficult for last, pretty impressive.
Feel free to skip the credits. I don't think I have much to explain here. I prefer to explain things as they arise. Is there anything I should clarify that I didn't mention before? I talked about the skus talk. about jumping because you need to get fired. I think we are good. This race can be improved, but this endingof the game will show part of why. I think it's a really good race, worthy of having its own special commented video rather than just being a race that doesn't have any commentary, so I'm going to take a break myself.
I'll come back at the end of the credits to explain more about the race. I'll see you abroad, thank you abroad, abroad, thank you abroad. alien, so remember that job I said we'd need later, we can finally use it, laughs, so now we're going to start rafting, um, which is a pretty easy minigame, it's the easiest of the minigames, um, but Still, it's a lot of fun to try. and reduce your time, a good time to raft in an Arceus environment is probably a mid to high 23 seconds. I think all my rafting times in this race were pretty bad.
I think I got a 24 and then a 25 and then a 26. um, which isn't great, but I still saved a lot of time on my PB because I came back when I was trying to access the menu in this exact menu and I accidentally clicked schnapp shellin, which is Rapids raid instead of Rapids race and. The Rapids raid doesn't give you anything good besides this collectible or non-collectible item, well I guess those pills we passed around when we came here with the rooster earlier are collectible, yeah, this minigame is basically made up of uh, there were almost 23 of them. um. just use hookshot whenever you can to go a little faster and the nice thing about this minigame is that you get your rupees back after you win so you don't have to worry about your rupee count otherwise we would have to get a lot more rupees during the run and you actually get 300 rupees once you eat all the rewards, but that's not really useful for us, it's probably useful in a 100 immortal run.
I think this is the minigame you would use to be able to avoid shoplifting hmm so you get a piece of heart and then a seashell and then you get a chamber stone. Each one is a reward for a different boost, but obviously since we go into super super fast speed run mode, we're always under that. limit um I think 40 seconds is the heart piece reward 35 seconds is the seashell reward and 30 seconds is the chamber stone reward. I've never even come close to failing. I think the worst I've ever gotten in a race was like 27. Maybe.
To be honest, it's a pretty simple maze. I even missed the hook shot twice and still got a 26. Maybe I got a 28 once, but yeah, it's definitely one where once you practice it a few times, uh, no. It will probably crash, but it still happens when you go back to the menus. It's super dumb, but hey, at least it didn't happen in this one. I tried to Dash there for some reason, just a dumb move, so that's our last piece of the heart of Overworld. the rest will be achieved from the fashion game and from the fashion game, uh, so the fashion game, uh, we talked about fashion from the beginning, about 10 minutes and about 40 minutes, where our first two trips to fashion, uh, now we will be.
Making a lot of trips after stealing five chamber stones here, while doing this whole stealing process, I will start to explain the fashion game. The fashion game gives you a chamber stone as a reward, so it's always been part of the 100 definition. um, however, as part of a community agreement, you also have to place the last Bow Wow figure, so It is something implicit, implicitly, you also have to place all the figures because to place the Bow Wow figure you have to place all of them. the others and the Bow Wow is also the one that gives you the chamber stone and the Bow Wow is also the one that is locked behind the credits.
It's a little silly, but it's just part of Run um and I'm glad about that. We do the modern because there is actually a lot of skill in getting each of the figures, each one has a different configuration, you have to do it and if you do it right most of the time they should stay there, but you can still get them. unfortunate and terrible and horrible things have happened, especially with seashells. We got one of the seashells early, luckily, and we'll get the second one very soon. Yes, fashion allows us to get a chamber stone heart piece and a shell and then. all the figures that allow us to obtain a Chamber Stone.
I think I'm about to finish the Chamber Stones here. um, I haven't actually been counting while commenting, but that should be the last one. Okay, one more than foreign, so here we are. I'm done with shopping and now we can do Trend again. Honestly, this is a pretty fun part of the race. I know, I think a couple of my 100 can Patriots don't really care about this, but to me it's part of what makes the race. It's so unique and fun, and I'm looking forward to doing this again in the next issue. Yes, I have a lot of interesting setups that tend to work pretty well.
Most of them revolve around going to that middle ground between the latter. two tiles so you can see there's a dark square and a light square and a line dividing them all the way to the right um and using that pattern as a visual reference um I can basically get all the shapes from that position Um, I just adjust my timing based on the figure and the cool thing about that position specifically is that it also allows you to grab the item on the left side in a very, very similar cycle. I think it's okay. I guess you could say in the same cycle.
Basically you don't have to wait at all you just take one thing after another and that's part of the optimization in this category, not only doing the minigames correctly but also doing them quickly um specifically wet later um building the dungeons quickly goes us to save a lot of time so let's wrap this piece of heart this piece of heart has actually given me trouble before um most of the time it's a very very easy member of the Fashion Guild, but it's definitely given me trouble before I won't deny that I'll point it out every time we get to a more difficult, uh, trendy object.
In fact, our next visit will have possibly the most difficult, um, which is the second shell. In fact, I think the second shell is not as difficult as the first. I have a pretty decent setup for it, but when it fails, it wastes a lot of your time. Almost every time you miss this specific shell, it will almost always land in a place where you are unable to grab it just based on the location where you are grabbing it from, which is the left moving platform. If it moves to the left, you can't move the gripper to the left at all.
I can only move it to the right and up, so I don't know why I saw my Dash there. I think I did it by accident, so if it goes left, you end up super screwed and have to leave. and you go back in and all the settings are a bit messed up and it's just not a fun time, boo doesn't match, isn't it ironic, I guess that's the easiest thing to understand, in my opinion I've never had a boo error, because Boo is just kind of a boo. It's very light and big so it lines up with the clamp and it doesn't fall off the clamp either, so here's the shell, let's see if we can get it first.
Try really, really hard when that happened while I was running. a little bit because I knew I already had about a minute of time, saving me from my last run, needing to get an extra shell here that I didn't get before because it was causing me a lot of trouble, so getting that also saved me a ton of time on my PV because I think I was wrong on that, I got it as a second or third attempt or something because it's not always like that, you know you have to get out and back in, sometimes it goes to the right or just down a little bit and you're able to take it again next.
They're going to be a couple of easy ones. We have the cheap, the cheap and the blooper. But after them, it will become a little more difficult again. In fact, I actually used to. I think the blooper was one of the hardest figures to grab, but I've gotten a lot better. I have a much better setup. I used to use a setup that basically never worked. It worked like 20 of the times, but for some reason. I was going for it in races because it was kind of cheeky I guess, but now I've developed a better setup and I think I stole some of the setups from Glam.
I'm not sure I can't remember if Glenn and I had um similar setups are different setups um, but I remember watching Golan's fashion game at one point for a while uh Glenn is a flawless 100 Runner. In fact, I started going to the wrong area, that's the rust showing um glan and M Chan, both 100 Runners flawless. We don't have a separate fault category and they still work very well to make the run fault-free, that's quite praiseworthy. I want to try. In fact, they've inspired me to want to try failures 100 at some point, definitely not anytime soon. but when I can I want to try it yeah it's very impressive the times they were able to get and a big part of that time savings comes from doing these mini games well this category in this category is the start a lot of the runners lost time with this because it wasn't really fully understood; in fact some racers actually phished at the end of the race along with all these figures we're grabbing you know they did it as part of the post game mission and uh obviously that's not fun when you can lose up to minutes only in RNG with fishing.
I think it wasn't really understood what caused the specific fish to appear, um, now we know that's how it is. I think D4 gives you cheap, D5 gives you cheap. your mistake and D6 gets you all, Baron, but I'm going to have some of those confused. Shy Guy is deceptively difficult, I should always do well and then about a year ago I started having some problems with him, you see? how he goes crazy when she is in the crane. um, he is quite a big figure, which causes those difficulties, but first he made me try this career, which is very nice, um, yes, he is one of the figures that they want to worry about because if the position of him . it's a little off and I think in fact if your position is too perfect it might actually be worse for a shy guy but I don't really have anything to substantiate that claim next up is the piranha plant another one I used think.
It was difficult but I developed a better setup and now Piranha is pretty easy. Prana being so good is part of why it is difficult and part of why it is easy. It makes it easy because he will almost always hit the conveyor belt once you've done it. uh bring it in there even if you get something like this pattern right here that I got where the piranha dives all the way to the other side um because it's so big it's just going to pop back up um but yeah, I was a little bit worried during this run because I was like, What happens if that doesn't work?
Normally what you want to see there is grab the piranha and it's directly vertical. But it doesn't matter much, I think even when you arrive. a strange result like I just did there will almost always work, thanks. The next step is small and also deceptively difficult because it is not on the mobile platform. Pokey, honestly, I see YOLO. He sometimes she gets scared and no. he works correctly and then sometimes it goes perfectly like he did. The truly diabolical thing about Pokey is that if Pokey's base is stuck in the conveyor belt, then you can't grab him only if half of his body is on the conveyor belt and the other half is not, the other half is in the box. prizes, so it doesn't matter, you just can't grab them, they are very different from the other figures and also very annoying, but luckily we got Pokey on the first try and now.
The other possibly more difficult object begins, um, I don't know how I touched it there, the other possibly more difficult object, uh, fashionable, this is Bow Wow, it's big and circular, too big for the crane, so what happens many times it was 100 runners. Bow Wow on the crane, we're good, we can get it on the first try, so I see that I had a good time there and I'm like, okay, okay, I put it in the crane. I'm like, okay, I can get it on the first try and like that. just take a look at what my behavior was like here, it's pretty crazy how much that pushes and it was very very close to falling over but we got Bow Wow on the first try and this whole fashion game segment is the reason why I think this race is especially Well, um, it had an essentially perfect trend.
Every object in Trendy was the first try. Each shell was the first attempt. The hard pieces were the first attempt. The camera. Stone was the first attempt and each figure was the first attempt. Which is pretty crazy and I actually checked my inventory there. Um, that may seem like an accident, but it was on purpose because this scolded me for a minute and I suspected that I hadn't actually stolen all the stones from the chamber. I thought, wait, I did something wrong, but no, that split was so good. um and it's what makes this race awesome, but Dame also has something to say about this race being awesome, so we'll start with Dame first, so Dame has a lot of rewards, as you can see, we don't even have them. we have bothhearts, the 14 chamber stones, we are now redeeming our or sorry, the 13 Jeffersons and we are now redeeming. our final reward, what do we get for 50 seashells and a stone from chamber 14?
Yeah, okay, that says, "Oh, shoot, it's me talking on VOD." Yes, thanks for watching. Yes, I got 251 57.1 in my real time. Another silly thing about this race. is that my splits just disappeared during the race for some reason, I just split live like it failed and got rid of my splits. I tried to get them back during the race several times but it didn't work, but yeah, thank you all for watching. I really appreciate it, shout out to all the Awakening Community links, but big shout out to edl and snowmaster, they put a lot of work into 100 and I definitely wouldn't be as good as I am without them, I know the idiocy that she personally isn't a great fan of the category, just because you know it's not really for her, but she really put her all into the couple of races I wanted to do and to Snow Miser for being my friend.
I do not do it. I know that's it for me. I really appreciate you seeing it at home. I hope you enjoyed this video and yes, that's 100 Link's Awakening, full goodbye.
