I was like : I don't care at all, the boys, they don't like their birthdays, right, no, they don't like it. "They don't care, they don't like getting older, but 40 is special.

I didn't think anything of it. She says well, maybe we'll go to Pebble Beach. We could get some people to go to Pebble Beach. I say, yeah." I will, but I'm the worst planner ever and you know nothing happened in the end, but this week I'm playing in a very special golf tournament, my favorite, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It's called the Gasparilla Invitational Palmacia Country Club in Tampa. We'll talk about that maybe at the end of the episode, but we came to Florida on a short flight with Wyatt on Tuesday and I took Ryder after school on Wednesday and our plan was, you know, we're going to stay in Fort Lauderdale, where my uh, my in-laws have a place to stay there for two months and then on Tuesday our plan was to drive to Clearwater where we found ourselves in like a nice hotel on the beach, it's about 45 minutes from the country so we're staying there for a week and I'm going home, you know, before school starts, this is school vacation week and there are really no plans.
I mean, my birthday was on Sunday, but you know, my wife's sister and her husband are very close to Kayla and Steve, their kids are all depressed, so it's just It's going to be a fun family gathering for the birthday and Thursday the plan was a little confusing with all the names and people, but my in-laws, best friends or closest friends, Ed and Kelly, have a place just a mile away. of them so we were going to go over Ed has a beautiful 40 foot Boston where we're going out and then having dinner on Thursday night the first night here so I was a little excited but she also said we have to go.
At three o'clock, I ask him why we take charge of three o'clock. I want to go hit golf balls. She says we just have to go. Ed is taking us on her boat. Can you go at three? 'clock so like whatever this is a joke my birthday is in three days I start acting like a girl where her birthday lasts like a month but why do I have to go at three o'clock? Three o'clock, so I end up falling asleep in the pool, like I'm completely on vacation, and she wakes me up and says, hey, we gotta get going right, so we walk into Ed and Kelly's house and you know, I just to enter.
They have a beautiful like it's a 70 inch, one of those frame TVs where it looks like an unreal painting, but it's actually the TV when you turn it on. I look at them like this TV is sick and my father-in-law standing on the right and he goes, look at the one they have on the wall behind you and I look up and I'm like, what is he talking about? I'm so stupid, standing right next to me are my mom and dad, so my mom and dad got a spot. in Estero and I was like, oh my gosh, that's amazing.
I hadn't even thought they would come. I think this is great, going out for a nice boat ride and dinner. My parents are here. This is incredible. I give them a big hug, I'm like, this is great, this completes it, you know, so we have a drink every time we go out, we walk around the wall on the outside, my brother from San Francisco and my other brother who lives in Boston. and his wife, I feel like that, that's when I lost control, I almost got a little emotional because, as you know, it's not like that.
I never get to see Sean and San Fran. I miss him. I wish he lived in Boston and just have him fly to the other side. I thought, are you kidding me? I thought this is going to be the best night of my life. I see your brothers now, so give Brie a big hug. I think you are the best. This is amazing, so we're going to walk on the boat guys, suddenly 30 people, 15 of my best friends and all their wives jump off the top of the boat. Surprise, no, I myself were about 45 or 50 yards away.
I said who is that. Brie says, "All your friends. I'm like you. They're all my friends. What and everyone. She planned this for like three months. Everyone like. I swear to God. I'm not getting emotional right now. I refused to do it." , but I have the closest best group of friends you can imagine, just really special people, um, and all these people are willing to spend their time, money and energy to come here and celebrate my birthday. I was like, Are you me now? I told everyone that if I lived in Michigan in February I wouldn't see him, yes you would come to Florida to see me of course but it was the most amazing three part surprise I have ever experienced and I will say I even told him that.
Brie, I said like I thought to myself, I was like, ah, it sucks, I'm not going to do anything for my 40th birthday, that's all on me because I thought I don't want to do anything, but then I thought. 40 years and that's it, I mean, I have the best wife in the world who put in all this energy, she made hats, she made Koozies, the ship was sick, the staff was three people, they said they'd never seen so many. noon We drank in a setting and went for a walk for about three hours, you know, we went for an hour and a half, we came back, it was about 75 and sunny with no wind and then Ed and Kelly at their house had a great dinner. wife, but my wife had caterers, so it was like it was the best three days of my life and part of it, I think Biz, you'll know what I'm saying because a lot of professional hockey players get out of the house 15 16 17 you go to Junior then you go to college or you go to Junior and then you go to AHL from Canada and then you go to NHL and over time you play in all these different places and a lot of times we talk about the struggles in retirement and this is not the same for no one at all, but it is not frequent or not so frequent.
I think guys end up coming back and living where they came from, so you end up, you know, when you retire, you play for a team for eight years. you retire you end up oh we've built Our Roots our kids were born in the city I played in and suddenly you end up being residents we talk about all the blues alumni live in St Louis Scott still has so many people good For me, I always knew I'd come back to home and part of that was these friends that came, these amazing people, like I knew I would always come back and be one of the guys with my friends and honestly, that made me retire.
It was a little easier for me that I just went back to my life with all my friends who had been living since we met when we were 12, so it's like something where you have these lifelong friends and I think people comes out. there are groups of people so you know how significant they are all our kids are the same age we are so close we all live close to each other and I am so grateful for these people in my life and Just for them to come down was amazing and we got on the boat, It was funny that my wife didn't do it because I had golf scheduled for Friday morning with two of the guys that were there, I knew they were there.
I'll be there because her in-laws also live in Fort Lauderdale, but I've been trying to make plans. with these guys and they were chasing me. I tell them, hey, when are you getting to Florida? They say I'm not. I don't know, I wonder what they're talking about, do these guys hate me all of a sudden? Well, I finally agreed to let them play golf with me on Friday morning, so in my mind, even though I'm sick, I thought: I wonder what's up for golf tomorrow. Brees said don't worry, we lined up 36 holes. You're all playing God, dude, and she's like, "You don't even need to come to dinner, just come to dinner whenever you want.
It's the ultimate." Like a three-day birthday celebration that I don't deserve and I'll say it again. My wife is the most thoughtful and loving person I have ever met. I simply am. You better give him the massage blow. card I have family hey, you better give them the massage and I was very surprised not to have it. Everyone said: did you know what I'm like, friend? I had no idea so well I almost ruined it there for you. I almost ruined it oh yeah this is the fun part so we're in Lauderdale for the All Star Game and I go to Cafe Europa with G and we're eating it's me, G and Merle and I look and see a text message. from Brianna Whitney to G who says call me when you're not around him.
I'm like, oh my god, I'm like hey Gee and she's like oh oh, I'm like I'm like, don't get me into this. Spot Man, don't put me on the spot, I say, are you crushing?, my boy broke up, yeah, I know, I figure it's okra and Brie, what's he going to hang himself? Keep it up. I came in with Paul Balls, I brought your mouth right now. Biz I. I'm not going to bother Ra by jumping my old lady just to finish. I want to thank my friends until the end of time because he made it so memorable.
I want to thank Ed and Kelly. I'm at his house right now recording the best. notch from the Internet and, you know, my family and friends, it was just so special and I said actually the other thing that came to mind besides golf tomorrow when I saw the surprise was like okay, I'm seven years old. until Bree turns 40. I better do something to make her crash. Whoa, geez, what are you going to the moon for 50? Holy, no, no, she said she doesn't look like anything else for 50. She's going 40 is the big one, I'm in the back nine So I think that's fair enough, yeah, oh, I know, I'm in the middle midnight, but I mean, I'm a middle-aged guy.
I'm the elder of the podcast. I didn't care when I turned 50. I didn't want anything I want to go to Santa Fe I thought I usually do well Your weekend wasn't as good as wit but you got to see Hootie and the Blowfish How was your experience at the on-air game? free Stadium Series I want to see your appearance behind the scenes, looking absolutely amazing first. I got a shout out, friend Jeff Zaca, who put me in touch with Mark Bryan, who is the lead guitarist for Hootie and the Blowfish. Incredible Hospitality that got you hooked.
We set up with seats for the show on the VIP cordon so we had cocktails before the show, cocktails after and I saw Dan Patrick there, you know, he was with his wife and his son, so his daughter, I don't want to bother him and I. It was like, oh, they must be friends or something, he actually came on stage and introduced, you know, the band, him and Darius go back 30 years. He says I've known these guys for almost 30 years. I met him. We've been friends, we've been through a lot together, you know, kids get divorced, blah blah, he's just like him and now here's your performance, Darius on Blowfish, like he did with gumudi and friend, they blew the place up, I mean, I think it was an 18,000 initial spot and there were no empty seating areas.
I don't know if they were completely sold out, it certainly seemed that way. These guys don't tour regularly, they never broke up, but they just do something like that. -outsideconcerts and gave a big shout out to George Parros during the show. He had on a violent and violent gentlemen's shirt. He says oh, I want to shout out to George Powers. He's the reason we're here because Paris went up to them and said, "Hello." They know they should do a concert while everyone is here in Carolina because they know he plays golf in all these guys retired from the NHL so the show is unreal man I mean it was like a college soundtrack it made a couple of covers of songs like they did Losing My Religion by REM Champagne Supernova by Oasis, like I was in my glory band, the show was amazing, a great night. uh yeah, I wish they would have made it, but I understand they were having fun eating there, they had Kami there, cozy, Shadow Pete Blackburn G was there, stopped by to say hello, so yeah, man, I had an amazing night, man, 'cause there hasn't been any gigs, I've been to like two since this cover, uh, so, Constance's band like soul cleansing sometimes 'cause you just like it, you feel good afterwards, man, you just like it, you know, Bust the Move, go out, you know, dance, do whatever, rock, sweat. ass, but yeah, Hootie and Blowfish blew the place up, it really takes your brain and puts you like in the present, sometimes yeah, thinking about the past or the present or whatever, um uh, reteach, though that's better. spectacular bar by Bates battaglia we've had him on the podcast before I think when we had him he wasn't really sure what we were doing here spitting out Chiclets uh he was letting it fly pretty well although he was going after Bruce Bruce Cassidy uh the bar In itself, a very, very good setup.
I want to thank the entire Gallo team and Carolinas who helped us, helped us push the product, uh, the presentation was incredible. You talk about southern hospitality. I didn't expect so many people to show up, especially with wit celebrating her 40th birthday and the guy whose name is on the bottle that was rammed, everyone was so nice and patient everyone waited patiently for the photos, obviously we were handing out pink Whitney like crazy so which I suppose, in general, thanks to the brand. and the fans because they know Whitney pink in New Amsterdam and Gallo is the reason we can attend these Marquee events and they put us up in hotels and pay for our travel so thank you to the entire sales team across North America . that helped us uh and uh it was an amazing event so thank you very much and a shout out to Pink Whitney Mr.
Whitney before we continue. I need to talk about our presenting sponsor Pink Whitney vodka from New Amsterdam Vodka straight It was a real pleasure to be in Florida. It flowed on the boat we had for my surprise 40th birthday party. It flowed on the nipples for the pregame party in Carolina before the big tilt between the Capitals and the Hurricanes. the golf course when I'm playing at the beautiful Gasparilla Palma CIA this week it's the perfect drink to have with your friends it's the perfect drink to have with your family and it's the perfect drink when you're looking to just relax and watch a little hockey so please everyone come out, try a drink, grab a bottle, put it in some ice, throw it in soda water, make it as a shot any way you want, drink it, just have fun enjoying Pink Whitney, enjoying New Vodka Amsterdam and thank you.
So much for being a loyal supporter of not only our capsule but also our favorite vodka, always rosé, Whitney and New Amsterdam. I mean, we haven't even gotten to the game yet, uh, like I said, Raleigh, the amazing host of the outdoor game, it was sick, we have the uh. The NC State band there, the mascots, the cheerleaders and I mean, they whipped them, they got a four nothing lead, the Caps scored a goal late. Tommy Wilson ruined the shutout bid, but I mean, Carolina just dominated the G atmosphere and the stadium was great, it was actually nice.
It was cold there, I didn't pack a jacket, I just had my hoodie, I froze my balls, but the food at the stadium was amazing, like 10 out of 10. Carolina Barbecue, it was so good too, everyone was like, uh, people were was putting it there like 48 hours before so they could get there like cooking brisket and all their barbecue cooking cuz smoking it cuz it takes a while and man just walking through that back door people say oh eat try my burnt ends try my ribs, try my brisket. The food was like a 10 out of 10. Some of the best I've ever had is just top notch, very good.
What I liked about the atmosphere at the game was the entire student section and the band behind one of the goals. I think it was a pretty cool addition in terms of having a college football stadium, but it looked cool, I mean, it was just Carolinas. I hit it in regulation, it was an easy win, obviously everyone knows my bet in Detroit or my bed in Edmonton. on Detroit really backfired this week, but it seemed like a good game and was pretty typical in the fact that Carolina just smothered us all. I think it was one of those games where you're like this Martin neck neck chest collar nature we say his last name is kind of certain nights on a different level where I don't think he's fully come out yet like maybe like a superstar. , but you see these flashes and he's obviously had a great year, but that game is the best player on the ice by a mile.
I just logged on and saw those uh when they came into registration and with the band you said and the guys coming out and they had the fireworks on the ice that gave me a hockey boner. She was well placed there, yes, I know we're probably too crazy about the black and red shirts when they come out, but she looked dynamic the other night the way they come out like that. Did you see where they are going? Outside the bus they had the golf uniform, so I'm sure you like it. Did you know it was a tribute to Payne Stewart?
I didn't know until after the game and he won the US Open at Pioneers. Then I tragically passed away and to be honest I like strike suits but maybe it's like jumping the shark at this point. I don't know if I'm being a grumpy 40 year old guy. I'm 40. Now I'm a man, I'm 40 years old, but I like golf, maybe because I'm a box of golf garbage, but I don't know, I don't know, maybe to what extent you think guys are forced to do it. Because I'm sure not all the players on the team want to show up in costume.
Remember the stance when he had to wear the baseball uniform about that? Oh, really, what wasn't there? I mean, I was too excited. I loved 80's Titan Bright, it was rocking big time. I didn't know they were regular addresses. I didn't know he was a Payne Stewart, what would you say? A tribute, a tribute to him, so now that I know it's obvious. does it much better, but I agree with you Whit, let's start an oh Whitney, grind my gear segment now that you've hit the big four about what not? Because the podcast would last seven hours and 15 minutes each week and five hours. and 47 minutes would be, actually, we haven't complained about a flight yet, we should probably do it for 15 minutes here, who had a shitty flight on the way home, no problems, coming home.
I was in the middle row, back, back, in the middle seat of the middle row. It was the worst, well I was joking, we're not talking about any more fastest sport flights of all time. They also brought storm surge, which you know Rod Providemore actually brought to the team, as he revealed on the show for a while. They came back and kept the golf team going, threw down the gloves and faked it there first. I was like, oh, they're in the capitals, they tell them it's golf season, but then I realized I hadn't seen the suits. until after the game and I realized, oh, okay, I was part of the whole golf team and the rumor guys that they were making, that they were making fun of them, caps, Washington, I think it's over, I think it's over.
They're over, I don't think they're over. Going in now we know what's going on, they win eight in a row after I say something like this, but there's not much cooking going on right now. I want to know what you thought of this. The Varsity Blues song they went with came out of the school bus with the uh leather I think it was safe I think the right word is that it was very safe the bombers looked amazing uh t-shirts Same idea with the Keynes ones you said ra at the beginning I was like but when you're when they're on the ice and they're that big.
I like the presence of them and then Nashville had the same thing when Nashville was rotten and big and then they had the guitar pick in the middle, so I like the thing about making them. They are very big so you can see them from afar and they stand out well when they are on the ice, so I think before we judge these jerseys we have to see them with the full kit, the gloves, the helmet and how it all plays. It looks, I know you see it on the Jersey dogs online, it doesn't do it justice in terms of the guys in full uniform wearing it on the ice.
It is totally different from the photos that were first published. What did you see? Dog Face Off is like a local legend fan dog, he came out with the pocket and dropped it and I think it was a stand and um, I don't know, it was Baxter, they shook the guys here and then they shook the dog. hand like he was going to give me a bar after dropping the pretty funny little clip uh also 56,961 people uh the largest crowd in franchise history uh me and G were saying the only thing I think the NHL maybe could work with whoever the next stadium is The location of the series is the post game transportation because there is nothing around there, it's a college campus, there are no bars or restaurants to relax after and there is no signage, it could be confusing esp.
If you had some pink Whitneys, a big bruise coming out. there and find your carpool, but I think other than that, the NHL really hit a home run here. I mean, that's maybe one of my only minor quibbles, but otherwise, we had a shout out to Raleigh like G saying the people are awesome. Generosity hospitality. You can walk up to Eddie's table, take his food, no one tells you anything, they're actually honored to have you eat their food, drink their moonshine, so, Raleigh, we take off our hats so you see, we're not biased, We don't like television wait times. but Kim Jong-Betman did a great job with the league by hosting another Marquee event, absolutely next: Seattle hosts Las Vegas and then there will only be three teams after that game that haven't played an outdoor game yet, Arizona, Columbus and Florida.
Okay, I'm hearing a rumor that in the near future they want to do one between Tampa and Florida and do it in Tampa Bay, which I don't know, it's like the humidity ends even in the winter, you just can't. Like we were there filming that commercial, we were there for the All-Star Game, like what time of year are you going to do this because even if it's nighttime there's no way the ice is going to survive, you're going to have a Lake Tahoe again, yeah, that's like you can do it and you have the coolers under the ice, but forget even on a really hot day when the game really comes on like there's a monsoon here, like it just starts pouring rain randomly, remember the remember the The last day we were at the All-Star break.
I mean, it's going to be a little difficult for them to achieve that. I guess at some point they'll have to try it, it just does. I mean those three teeth, poor Columbus. I mean they're the ones who are actually in cold climates, they still can't get one. You three can attest to me. Arizona at ASU Stadium against the Las Vegas Golden Knights. It is so cold here in winter at night, there is no humidity. It is perfect. temperature and outdoor experience yes or no, yes, a thousand percent, you will have Bedard to play with too, so yes, yes, no, if they keep playing like they do on their back nine.
I'll get in the lineup, what are you guys doing? stop it, buddy, don't look at me, don't look at me, David Ayers, that would be putting me in the back, breaking the tape on the boards or on the glass. Arizona versus Columbus win versus how's that? Yes, Flint Michigan. Mega Ball uh alexandrovechkin missed the game his father passed away so we want to extend our deepest condolences to Alex uh and his family for the loss of his father Mikhail, he was a very popular figure on the team every time that he was coming. The players loved him, he was a big fan of the team, obviously his son played the entire episode.
I'm sorry for your loss, Alex, and again we extend our condolences and I thought, uh, the CBC in Canada because they ran it like it was a shitty time trial. article about a vet's son I thought it was like a total lack of class the headline what to do with a problem named Alex Ovechkin a closer look at the NHL's close ties to Putin I mean, the guy is speaking personally, his father died , you could "I did this a month ago, a week ago, next week, you'll do it when he's on leave. I just thought it was a move, it was a classic like the reporter, okay, let me get two people who areokay with mine and then." I'll amp up on that and say, oh, some people say it's extremely liberal to the point where it's like they can't tell me that they are better people when they take that opportunity during that period of time to apply, it's like they're It's not that you're not a good person, you're not exactly, yes in fact you're the complete opposite and anyone with half a brain can see through that and it's getting more and more unpleasant as far as I think more people are.
I think there are a lot more normal people who understand that in one way or another they are ridiculous. Let's go with all of them and just live a normal life with the night you wrote that article, what was that? I didn't even write his name because I didn't know anything about what he was there, there was nothing to do there was you know, I don't know the guy Slava Malamute I think you pronounce his name, he is, you know He hates Ovechkin and Russia, that's fine , he has a stance, but the guy just took all his points and then you know, Hashik.who's been very blunt those are the only two things that people got he didn't even get it they've been saying the same thing so I mean that she goes to Ovechkin's son at the All-Star Game because he was making escapes, it's like dude kneel here like his son was his son he was born in America, like, give him a break, man, yeah, exactly, it's just that You know there's a time and a place, man, and it was just, I don't know what they did to them, but anyway we can move on, stop talking about the fun stuff, stop talking about the hockey, we have two guests today, we'll get there a little bit. later, Las Vegas Golden Knight All-Star Chandler Stevenson stopped by when we were in Fort Lauderdale for a chat and our friend Colby Armstrong stops by to chat a little about the Peewee tournament, the P-week tournament , up and back, sounded like a good time, but first Biz your Leafs swung for the fences they charged for their next playoff adventure, landing Ryan O. 'Reilly and Noah Cherry from the Blues and a three-team deal that also included the Minnesota Wild, the Blues got forwards Adam Gadet and Mikhail Abramoff back first and 23 from Toronto, second and 24 from Toronto and Otto is third and 23. uh, the Blues will retain half of his $7.5 million salary and Minnie is going to eat a quarter of that too.
They sent prospect John Palat to Toronto for Toronto's fourth-and-25. I'm not sure what Minnie is doing here. I don't know if it was a favor or whatever and then O'Reilly's 1.25 million from Achary, 32, pending UFA winning the cup, obviously, at 19, they can't Smite selke, they think well , they put him third after Matthews and Tavares at center, we'll see what happens there but Biz, you're the strap fan, our reaction to this great exchange, Kyle Doobis, man what a move that was his back against the wall this year, he had to pull a rabbit out of his ass and he did an amazing job and let's get back to who. started the party with Lou Lamarillo, everyone thought, oh, he got Horvadi, sir, started the party before Drury said, hey buddy, there's not enough Cialis on the planet for you guys to prepare for a playoff run like this team. from the New York Rangers and then go out and get Tarasenko and uh and listen, we knew that was going to put pressure on Toronto to do something and the last year of Dubus' contract would give him an extension for making this move, it completely makes up for the fact that he got rid of Cadre, that was probably the worst

trade

of his tenure with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but come in and you talked about that on the last podcast.
I was talking about praying for Kane, well they end up going and solidifying the bottom six. Not just getting him and Ryan O'Reilly, it looks like these lines are going to be put in a blender to maybe decide if he'll end up on the wing or if he'll end up on the third line. The center is not very safe. how it's going to play out, but if everyone says, "oh, he's got 12 goals this year and he's regressing offensively." I think we've been adamant in saying that Ryan O'Reilly has lost a bit of a step, but he's pegged as a third-line center.
He'll beat you with his mind, his skill set, and all the other intangibles you need to carry to a championship lineup, so I like the write-ups. You have Matthews, you have Tavares and then you have Ryan O'Reilly, to me, that's the most. depth in the middle throughout the Eastern Conference, argue with me, argue with me if you want to argue with me, but that is a deadly, deadly middle of the ice, then about the cherry on top, achari, maybe one thing that was missing on the sheets in the bottom. six was that physical approach where Giordano said it best, wow, everyone's excited about O'Reilly's looks, but this achari is a pain to play against, he's built like a cigarette, built like a machine. cigarettes, he's 510 210, uh, maybe 215. depending on how much dough he has, his parents fed him before the game and he finishes every shot, so let's just talk about the future and I don't think dubis is finished, but overall , that trade is a plus, send a message to those guys in In the locker room we have a championship pedigree here now we have more additions to the bottom six and hell, I think at this point O'Reilly is probably a 15-17 guy minutes at Center Ice, perhaps due to less skating. that you play up and down the wing, maybe he's playing the first two lines and is getting close to that 20. but overall, it doesn't matter what they gave up to get them, it will still be a late first round, an advantage for a guy who put Toronto back on the map and in contention for that Stanley Cup this year, do you think that was too high a price for the Leafs to not pay at all and I think the main reason is that Dubus knows that all? these drafts, draft picks that he's given away, he's not even going to be there to see these draft picks if they don't end up running, you know what I'm saying, so I think he made it. pretty clear that he didn't want to give away draft picks, it's something that's hard for him to do, but more than anything, he didn't want to get rid of any players on the roster, which makes a lot of sense, I mean, it's the last year . of your deal, if you don't get out of the first round, you're done, so not really.
I don't have the time or energy to worry about these draft picks. I just have to get guys now that are going to help this team. I'm looking at Tavares' Rumblings line actually on the left wing and O'Reilly is centering the second line like Biz said. I think it's a complete blender until you figure out what works, but for them maybe they'll go to a real cup. run I would think o'reilly would be your third line center achary exactly exactly what Biz said just a bulldog to play against exactly what they needed and most of all when you talk about O'Reilly's squeak who yeah maybe has it . he lost his step and his production was down this year for any player and even more so for a guy with Ryan O'Reilly's pedigree and resume to come to a different team that has had success over the last few years, it just gets this side going. yours who necessarily wasn't there with St Louis and their struggles this year, so yes, their numbers there aren't very good, but just like the mental aspect of joining a contender and being in the race, it can improve the quality of a player. not just his value, but his overall game, just on the mental side, like he's back in the middle of this and this is a guy who never approached St.
Louis games like they didn't mean a lot to him, but when you keep losing and it's been a big struggle this season. It's just a relief to your spirit to go somewhere and not only is it a contender, it's Toronto, it's the guy's home team, so it's like something where and I. I don't know if he's from Toronto exactly, but he's a close enough faculty to play in this Mega Market and play in front of these rabid fans who just need success and I would be absolutely shocked. If his level of play doesn't increase being on this team because there is still a lot of good hockey in them and I think now you will see it in Toronto, so Acharya already scored his first goal as well, so you will see that he Can he ?
I mean he could score if given the opportunity to score big goals, yeah exactly, so this is a guy and they're both exactly what the Leafs needed, so coming from an all-time Leaf hater who, ironically, he loves to watch. the team plays, but I just hope they lose every game. I have to be, I have to be honest with you guys, if I'm Tampa Bay, I'm sitting like, oh, because we have Tampa Toronto and we have the Rangers demons. In the first round, they're all but a lock and the fact that Tampa is eyeing this team they barely missed last year by adding a Smythe winner and then a dirty dog to the bottom six with caution is a great deal on their part. by Kyle. dubis and as I mentioned before those draft picks, it meant that he may never be around when they end up being chosen.
I like that dirty dog, you came up with that on the spot, wet dog, no, that was a Red Sox term, yeah, why? Do you think I wore this jacket? Do you see him walking around in a jean jacket with the sherpa? Don't you think? Hey, I'm going to take a page from your book. Wait, you don't think Lindsay Ontario's Lisa was improvising with the jacket? BBC special seeing it on Leaf's Instagram walking in with a jean jacket and a toucan, eh, she's got a designer one, you got the awesome one, although you don't think Carl from Kohlberg was listening to the radio the next morning after that exchange. left before getting his special 99 Tim Hortons Roll Up the Rim to win, come on, uh, it'll probably be a little more like that and I have to throw a little shade, I mean, they lost to Columbus in Chicago this week, so let's keep it going to the horses here properly, well that raises another question and I will tell you what else needs to be done in my opinion, you have to go and find one more defense and I think you need a little bit of insurance. and net, I'm not saying that you know it's something to go look for milka or the next big man.
I mean maybe David Ayers R.A is him, you think he's the man, yeah I mean the trade, obviously huge, but the first thing I did was like well, it doesn't make it better to make the defense better, I mean they still have the same action , not that it's an Achilles tendon, it's going to fall off right now, but I think it could use some improvement, huh, but I think O'Reilly is going to start checking the labels on those bottles, did you see that clip? He was warming up, he was gripping the bottle he put on his head too much, it was all biosteel, he put it off like the bio was still hurting his head, yeah, it just got into Noah, it wasn't water if he could, uh, throw things away and you also gave Sheldon Keith a little bit of Shadow aside Keith, he started him in the first game so the crowd gave him a nice applause.
I thought it was a cool gesture he did, so you took them out right away. there and you know, the crowd gives a little recognition, so yeah, they still need some D. I mean, Samsung has been very good at that for them, uh, we'll see what happens when it comes time for the playoffs. I mean, it's the Leafs, it's the playoffs, so always. It's going to be an adventure. I always use this example and I don't need to get carried away because I know it's Sidney Crosby and Afghani Malkin, but that cup run where their best defenseman was Doomland Tanger ended up getting hurt if you have a strong enough middle ice and the way you What Toronto plays defense now is that they play as a five-man unit, not everything is as complicated as before and you also have the defensive commitment of those high-level guys.
I've already mentioned it 20 times Matthews already blocked all the shots, the overall defensive play from a team standpoint has improved. I don't think they need to go out and make a big Splash in the back. I'm looking at a guy like maybe like uh like me. I think they lost a lot of physicality on the back end when they lost Lubushkin. I thought he came in and did a tremendous job separating the man from the puck. Simple game, maybe a guy like Luke Shen. I'm going blank. the name of the defenseman in Columbus that keeps coming up, yes, and there are ties right now with him potentially going to be the best teammates on the Boston Rangers.
Boston, excuse me, it was Boston. I see Doobie maybe sneaking in there and blocking that and here's another one, here's another crazy one. one for himself and you're going to think I'm full of all of you listening. I spoke to an extremely reliable source and we're going to get to more and Patrick Kane. I heard that the reason Cainer was so upset is that he was. a foot in the door in New York the trade was a base the trade was basically made when Doug Armstrong came in at the last minute and blocked him and then he did it with Tara senko and Nikola, that's why Koener has been so irritated and maybe a bit. a little more vocal than we're used to hearing from Patrick Kane and why he might have looked a little lifeless in the two games after that trade, simply because of how despondent he was at the thought that he was literally on his way to New York and then boom,We could put the lack of life aside because he now has five goals in his last two games, including the hat trick against Toronto, and what was interesting was his quotes after being asked about the possibility or perhaps rumors of leaving. for Toronto, he says that was never really discussed and he kind of made it clear that not everything you hear is true, there are some very reliable sources now, but even those guys end up getting false information and maybe he's taking a chance.
Because of the rumor, guys, the four of us, who sat around making things up like he said he was taking pictures of me before calling me a clown earlier this year when I was doing the first broadcast with the Stanley Cup champions or the reigning ones. The Cup champions, Colorado Avalanche, subtly released it quietly. I think it was a shot against us. I believe our prayer was heard around the world. Which brings me to my next point. I think Patrick Kane hates God. That is, ultimately. The point I was trying to make is the Antichrist and I don't know where he will go, probably Dallas where there are no state taxes, there are weeks where he mentioned Dallas and Las Vegas being two possible landing spots in the weeks where it is white and pretty good, he didn't say they were the only two and you know, as we just saw in the Tarasenko deal and probably some other deals that have salary attention.
I know the team has been getting a draft pick, you know, to eat into some of that salary. I mean, Chicago could certainly afford him but I think we'll see that there because he, you know, has a $10 million salary. Besides, what else to have here? Well, I just want to say that I want to see a Patrick Kane Spike tour in person. I do not know what is happening. with his hip, I know he was a little more vocal that game against Toronto the hat-trick you don't think it was a message it was sick it was unpleasant the patience he had he looked like the Patrick Kane of yesteryear now we too I have to inflate his tires in our area.
I don't know if you've already mentioned it. He recorded his 1,200, 16, and 1,217 career points in the last two games, passing Jeremy Roenick for third place among U.S.-born players in domestic hockey. In the history of the league, the list is at the top Mike Modano under him Phil Housley and now we have Patrick Kane of course so it's a big milestone. I think he's going to be remembered as the greatest American-born player. I think he still has gas left. in the tank and for a team that desperately needs to score goals, I think Dallas makes the most sense right now and I would love to see them make a big splash because I think with all the starters heading east, it's a dogfight in the This one that is going to stick its head above the water in the West.
I think there are a couple of teams that are the favorites, obviously with Colorado bouncing back. I think Edmonton has a great chance than Dallas with the goaltending they have in the backcourt. They have to have, they have to show that group within the locker room and it goes back to what you said last week. 2G Segan and Kane also have a bit of history, so I, ESPN reporter Emily Kaplan, the Blackhawks won't trade the Captain, uh. Jonathan Taves due to uncertainty about his health, has not played since January 28, was placed on Ayah on February 15, In a statement released by the team on Sunday, Tafe said he has been dealing with long covid symptoms and chronic immune response syndrome, uh. obviously we wish him the best and good health, but outside, these immunity problems are immune problems, he's a man, some doctors misdiagnose them, they can't understand what they are and he's been suffering with a lot of these things that you just got. like these strange illnesses and symptoms that, like doctors, baffle them, so he's been dealing with that quite a bit, so obviously, like I said, we wish him the best, uh, business, I just want to get back to the other trade, uh , uh, what's his name?
The blues traded uh the blues left Tarasenko and O'Reilly two huge pots from that cup run, they got back two first rounders it's a second two thirds two prospects have three first rounders it's this summer what went wrong with the blues this year Biz and what do they have to do to fix this? Okay, so I don't know before you hit before I get to that. I was just going to congratulate Doug Armstrong and the way he kept me going, go ahead, sir, I'll shut my mouth. actually I just wonder how many guys are left on that team that won the cup now has to be better than six or seven guys there in the barbershop.
I don't know the number, so I shouldn't have put them on the spot, but it happens fast, right, and I think you were about to say that you have to give Doug Armstrong credit when he realizes what's going on and acts quickly. That's what you're going to mention: a huge body, a huge tire pump to unload the road. did it and put everything back where it is, you make the decision, it doesn't look like it's going to be our dump year, get ahead of the actual deadline, let's just call a spade a spade here if we're going to talk to Chicago too .
Patrick Kane's things, what are they going to receive in exchange for him? I think Davidson at this point has completely overplayed his hand and he could leave that organization in a very difficult situation where you thought you had two birds in the bush and everything is suddenly like you, what do you mean? Isn't it that the term two birds in a bush uh was uh a bird in the oh wait, a bird in the hand okay oh yeah, that's probably it, but anyway the full one. opposite to where he immediately acted. I mentioned the fact that he potentially blocked that trade, at least what I heard from a reliable source, but to get the return he has, they still have some good assets where they could rebuild. quick around Thomas and uh in Cairo, I think just applause all around man this is a guy that's been around for a while and finally got a Stanley Cup.
There's a reason he's involved with Hockey Canada. It was a great move to make that quick decision, which I think. I said a month ago or six weeks ago I said they had to blow it up and uh barbashev is also linked to coming out very soon also a guy who is an achary type I'm just saying that but even a little better you know a little more Offend his game maybe, but attacking a tank, so, yeah. Applause everywhere, what were you asking before that? What went wrong? Don't know. I think when they got rid of Petro things started to go a little downhill. and this is not a knock on Parenko's game because I think when they ended up having Al McKinnis he was there helping the guys, I think it was Al McKinnis, he was, you know, helping these guys find their game and maybe being that, that ear. to listen and Josh back and forth, where I don't think Pereco was prepared to take on that number one role and I know they tried to do it by committee by bringing in Krug and Falk, but I really felt it. a shift after that where things were never the same is a tough decision to make as a GM.
Do I give this defenseman who is our captain and pay him nine and a half years to stay or, you know, maybe go somewhere different? management, you know clearly they had O'Reilly to look at after he moved and some other plans early on, but, you know, overall, I thought the back and goalkeeping had really let them down in the last two years. Look at it, I think that's a good way to look at it. I think a guy like David Perron, who was an important part of that team, you've seen how important he's been to Detroit, all of a sudden he wasn't.
Then you look at the Pereco situation where maybe they thought he was a little better than he turned out to be, maybe they thought they still had room for him to become the number one Petro guy. where he really hasn't done it and then the gold 10 has been so inconsistent. I mean, even this year you've seen these runs that they've had from Bennington and then all of a sudden he disappears, so it's a lot of different factors and a lot of them just show inconsistency, which is the main reason they're in the right place, they just never could get the ball rolling, they would win three they would lose three and it's been that way for a while.
Kinda ironically, they gave Colorado the best look anyone ever gave last year and it's like if they beat Colorado last year, which was a 4-2 series, who knows, maybe they'll win it again, but It's a crazy business and things change. Quick and suddenly Tara Sanko, when he couldn't see that he had been a grumpy kid for the last two seasons, so a bunch of different problems that become a group for a team that also has never been rebuilt. Like in Los Angeles, you know what I mean, when has the blues been really bad? I feel like no, it seemed like they changed 30 years, yes they changed during the TJ Oshi era, but they never really went away, they made it more remodeled.
Yes, restructured would be the term I'm looking for. I know we turned the pages. We didn't talk about the new honorary Chain Gang member, so I guess the question is: When will they win? Will I receive a ring? That's the net, that's the next big one, so we thank Austin Matthews on the TNT broadcast that he makes me part of the Chain Gang, how's it going fellas? You think I'm too old. I feel like I say this every year, but like now this year, if they lose in the first round again I'm going to be the most insufferable human being alive the first episode after they lose like I just can't even look if I was happy. during my birthday celebration I can't even Imagine my Glee if they somehow lose the first round again this year it will be fantastic yeah and amplify that by 10 if they actually make it past the first round and then by 20 if they make it past the second round and then if you end up making it all the way guys we'll officially be a Leafs podcast we won't even know what the Boston Bruins are by the time I'm done with you guys I'll be Spotify so were you guys a big puka shell guy on back in the day, I could see you wearing the Puka shell necklaces, yeah, uh, I don't think I've ever made the puka shell I could have had.
I had a hemp pair in my day, surprisingly R.A um, but no, but do you think I should use shell for the other chain? I did a pretty cool look and the guy is still wearing gold chains. I know they're really old back when I was younger, guys still wear gold like chains, oh yeah no. just the lions like anyone, yes I'm going to wear a choke collar. I'm going to be completely in bondage for this race, guys, come on, we're going to go off the rails, get out, are you sleeping well? I guess you'll have to wake him up now, right?
Biz, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, that's the first one, yeah, two in the bush doing the Bish, uh, the ABS and wild, they were the second game that night, uh. Billy Garen is not sure if the wildlings will be biased or the sellers. I don't think the trade the other day really indicated much like I said it was almost like a favor they took a small portion of the salary and gave up a prospect just for a 4th rounder huh but what do you want a draft pick to be basically correct?
And they also lost a prospect, like they traded him out of the national team, but wait, you think Minnie does something? I mean, they don't have a lot of money. I've been struggling recently, barely hanging on to that last wild card spot right now. I don't and I think unfortunately for Billy Garen came in and had to make that difficult decision with the Parisi Suiter purchases and and it's just one of those things like this year and the next two years after that they're just floating around, you know, and if you make the playoffs, that's great, they just won't have the ability and cap space until the biodo is completed.
They end up doing a lot, so they are a good team that could add if all this had not gone the way it did, but right now they are stuck between a rock and a hard place where they hope to get out. But deep down, I'm sure Billy G knows they don't have the team to compete for a Stanley Cup. Ironically, I've said ironic 15 times on this podcast, if I say it, okay, don't you think Gustafson is? playing very well and the bursts have struggled so it's like they are now riding the Gus system who has never been a starter so there are a lot of different things going on one thing is you can still see Caprice in every game if you're a big fan, this guy is a lot of fun to watch and they've got him locked in so I think you're more looking for a lot of them in two or three years to try to start building something special because there's not much they can do well, Yeah. they got bold, they got that guy Rossi now R.A, if I'm not mistaken, those buyouts didn't go into effect this year where they have 10 million against the cap or not?
I think this is the year it was activated, it was started, it was They were not activated last year even though they bought them last year. I think the big penalty was this year. In the next two they got three years. I thought it was just this year or next. Jesus Christ, that's a big pee pee. I have to seenow. Yeah, I mean, like we said before they had to do it, it was like they needed a cultural change, they needed to do it all there and that's the cost. I mean, if he didn't do it, you know they wouldn't be there.
As good a position as they are now, even if it's not exactly the ideal position, I think it's unfortunate R.A, but at this point I think they have to be sellers, another name that has come up and it sucks because I love their big, lumbering guys. and how they played last year, the offensive production just hasn't been there from Greenway and Fallino and that has been a big anchor with the lack of goals. I think the power play from an overall standpoint all year has been pretty good, but the guys when you're on that TNT broadcast for that game against the Avalanche from January 8th.
In 15 games they played, they only scored 15, five out of five goals, if you can't put the puck in the net, five out of five and if you're only doing it at that pace, you don't belong anywhere near a playoff spot. I think that playoff team could go out and use a type of guy like Greenway. I don't know if they are willing to part with them. uh I think they personally, from an overall team standpoint, have enough meat in their lineup by today's standards if they wanted to get a pretty good haul for a team that desperately needs a big body in the bottom six.
I wonder what I could get him, maybe he'll stay patient from now on, Billy G, because they don't really have many guys that they can get rid of and give them value back, um, I know they wanted to get Dumbo off the books. to potentially bring something for this year, I don't think that's going to happen. I don't think you'll get the refund, but his 6 million comes off the books next year, so I see it as a mixed bag. These guys have some experience in the stage of playing in competitive games and move on to next year, yes, a Greenway in the first year. of a three and nine million dollar extension he has two goals and four assists six total points in 39 games been struggling I don't know if a change of scenery is in the office I mean Felino got and I don't mean to Pick these guys you have some good years that's a career year for me so Aaron called them oh Did you do it recently?
I think he mentioned Celino. I think he mentioned Hartman as guys hoping to start scoring more, yeah he has four. goals in 44 games yeah they're really missing that second offensive punch so it sucks for the wild fans because they had really good R.A momentum but I don't know what else to say yeah as for ABS Biz I know you mentioned. that Adam Henrique would be a good fog said he has one year left after this year at 5.825 million uh he modified the no-trade clause he is 33 years old. he's got 33 points in 55 games on a pretty uh not so good Anaheim team do you think he actually pulls the trigger on that bus or do I personally think as far as a center back goes he's the next hottest commodity in line, the other name is Larkin and we'll get to that in a moment, but the abs will have to respond by going to fill that second line role they haven't accomplished it Alex new hook started the year in that second line center position uh there's no consistent offense on their part and it's tough, man, that you're coming out of, you know, being in and out of the kind of lineup on that championship team that suddenly has to go against, you know, the second-line center in the entire league, it's not easy man, night after night, um, so I thought it would be one night and you probably don't have to overpay, there's not a lot of leverage there where you probably could.
Maybe at this point, since The Desperate Times can order a first rounder, but I don't know, I feel like you get them as a good prospect. one second, uh, what was that whip quickly? Under the friendly limit this year, they're going to get hit 12.7 in Parisian Suiter next year 14.7 next year 14.7 and then it goes to 1.6 for three more years, so they're just getting hit. We're coming, those are the sounds of Lindsay. Spiked Spike one, yeah, that's the one from the movie Seven, the strap, the knife on me and the machete, machete, who else, who else do you think could help the Avalanche?
I think like Timo Meyer is the next biggest player, but he's a winger and he's so deeply entrenched in New Jersey right now and they have to respond with something, especially the way Pasha has been talking to them and getting Timo Meyer with all these other Eastern teams in the mix who's the guy you go out and get if you're the Avalanche and you want to repeat uh I don't know I think if Detroit goes down you could see Tyler Bertuzzi go. I think it would be interesting, yes. Now they say they won't change him because they're in the mix, but what I'm saying is he's playing incredible, yeah, if they go down, although I think you could see them make some moves, well, they haven't gone down and that's probably it.
It should lead us to the next point and the final offer. I talked to Stevie why this morning before I went up to 8.75 Dylan Larkin times eight years, if you don't want it, you can go down 8.75 is our final offer for him to have I think what is it 15 points in the seven games since the Game break Stars or 15 points in their last seven games? It's all this talk and all these Biz interviews three minutes before the game or you're going to quit and suddenly he's nice. this way like I'm just going to play with my bag and if they don't want to give Simon what I want then move me because at some point you're going to have to realize as a Wings fan if he's not signed by deadline day , it went well, you can't say that again, that would be a fair assumption, then all of a sudden you're Detroit and you say okay, we're going to lose Larkin and Bertuzzi for nothing, so it's, he's pushing and he's being an absolute player and forcing his hand, it's like, I mean, Jesus Eiserman is a legend, he knows what he's doing, he did this in Tampa, but he has to realize it like I do. maybe I'm overstating my hand in a sense, like this kid keeps stepping up his game the closer we get to the deadline, like what are we doing here, so it's with the K, Kane's move is like the number one story on the NHL after that with how he is playing now this Larkin Saga is so interesting to me.
I didn't tell you guys, I got a text from a multiple Stanley Cup winning coach, a FaceTime actually and then followed by a text because he was getting mad about the question I asked them on the air and I said, "I'm going , do you think he's worth 9 million?", and he says, "Biz, he says," those are the type of players that you didn't realize how important they were to the lineup until he left and he hits free agency, It's worth nine million all day long and yeah, I'd give him the nine million and I said it, I said, I'm going to go eat a bag of dicks, I guess so, I'm glad I turned it on. a fire under his ass, so to get that 9 million, you're welcome, Dylan Larkin, you should send me a little care package after signing him since the All-Star break, these seven goals, six assists, 13 points in seven games and yes, Wednesday.
One of five days in a row they swept the West in Canada before Seattle cooled them down a bit. I mean, they're in the mix, man, 60 points, 55 games, they're just two points behind the wild card right now. I mean, they have a really tough schedule. 15 of their last 27 games against current playoff teams and they played 27 games in 52 days, that's crazy. Billy Uso has been great and had his best month since October. They also extended defenseman Alimada's contract for two years and six million dollars, but we'll see if they can play us if they are a couple of points away just before the deadline.
Do you think Stevie White is holding his own? Maybe do some minor moves to achieve the same depth. I don't know, it's all Larkin Bertuzzi. Alright. No, you're not going to go out and add these minor pieces to possibly make the playoffs and make a run if you don't have these guys signed, unless you're totally fine with going to free agency and seeing if you can. Doing it when the season ends, which we saw happen with Forsberg in Nashville, is not unheard of, but it is certainly a risky way of doing things. I'll say that, but I think Detroit hasn't been in the playoffs in so long. the fan base is amazing.
The original six with the new Arena, you'd have to think they're tipping Full Tilt to come in. What is that wrestling movement called? The reversal is like Stevie and Larkin are holding each other by the balls. a little bit and then he did the switcherooski where it's like after the jump-off. I don't know, he must have been making a different protein powder than I was making in Fort Lauderdale because he came out of that thing rocking holy shit. I know that's my round. They jumped back into the race, the Ottawa Senators long before losing to the Bruins today had won seven of nine, they weren't dead yet, uh Brady could throw the absolute man Beast all year long uh 60 points in 55 games leads the team with 77 penalty minutes Jimmy guisado right behind him 59 points in 51 games Claude, he's having 22 goals 52 points, how about Drake Patheson, man, this kid 144 points in his first 200 NHL games, just spetsa Yashin and alfredson have the most in franchise history, so that kid is on fire and so is Biz? these numbers caught my attention with Ottawa they are third in the league on power play 26.1 in ninth on a penalty kill 81.4 I don't know man this team lost again today but they've had five different goalies they're still kind of in the mix there similar to Detroit they have a tough schedule 15 now their last 27 against the current playoff team so busy I mean if you have the GM there you just wait and see where you are first or something like that. let these kids have the experience, what do you think?
I'm going to pass this on to Wit Dog. Well, I will say that I will say that they are a fun team to watch first. I want to talk about Stutzel Jimmy. Stew I since January 1, he's been one of the best players in the NHL, his points per game is on par with anyone, he's got a ton of skill, he's a guy that as a Senators fan says thank you to God we hit. a home run with that draft pick because I think you're going to have a stud on your hands for the next 10 years. The other thing I want to mention is Brady Chucky, he talks about his numbers, what a leader he is today in Boston.
He was watching the game before we started recording. perfect as a kind of description for him as a player, he gets into the four check, he's flying, they're playing for the playoffs, he runs over linholm, who has quietly been a top 10 defender in the league, maybe even better than that throughout this season. he runs over it, chases the puck and dives to give a backhand pass to someone in the slot. Mark ended up making a 10-glove save for Bell, but you think Brady can Chuck, he's a real captain and that's how he plays. every night, so it's not that surprising that this team didn't shut it down midseason and had this usual Senator break after the Christmas break and January 1st of being completely out of the game, it's like use Biz.
The term brought his team into the fight just like Matthew did in Florida, so it was the perfect move to describe him as a player and I think Giru has been amazing too. I don't know if they are good, I'll say that right now. I don't think they're getting in, I don't think there's a chance of them getting in just because of the number of teams that are there, but it was a season where they seemed to be playing games that mattered in March and I think they will be and that's what I know. it builds towards the next season and years after, so even though maybe this year won't be considered a complete success because I don't think they'll get in, it's like seeing the right, uh, leading to the top. how the trajectory trajectory the trajectory of the team is changing and I mean I know there were rumors at the beginning of the year when they were really struggling to get rid of that coach.
I feel like the guys love playing for him and he's getting a lot out of a group that doesn't have much, so you mentioned the goaltending situation they've been through. Britishuk leads these guys with a bunch of other young studs so Josh Norris is out too, that sucks because he's a player and it's Bright Futures. Onward with new ownership, possibly a new Arena and a team that should compete for a long time in the next two years, what a failure, pat yourself on the back, now up. I'm silenced, no, you're still silenced. I know I hear you, no, no, he's not your Internet, he's your 40-year-old Internet.
Hey, laugh, it's two episodes, you can't, yeah, if you hear me do the flip, you gotta do another one, bro, um, but just to carry what. The witch has said that it wasn't me in the Pod right now, he's holding up a complete skeleton for those of you listening who can't see it on the YouTube channel. By the way, you can watch our full podcast on the grill and Chiclets on YouTube. Gotta subscribe, quick little plug for my guy, G um, GJ Smith, lots of base reviewsMarshawn, well, he might as well do one of your Kim Jong-un Batman t-shirts as a live. lunatic Alan Walsh Since he entered the agent business in 1995, Allen has negotiated over $1.6 billion in NHL general contracts on behalf of his clients.
This is just one of those things that is strange to me because I can't imagine an agent who would be willing. tweet something like that without telling his client first, now he put the sword in the middle of a flurry on the legendary original viral tweet in terms of being stabbed in the back by the Las Vegas organization's goat tweet, this is a bit different in the sense of that. he's fully supporting his client and I understand that's what he's doing here with Huber, but he's putting his client in a shitty situation and like Huberto said or I don't know if he came out and said exactly, but I think he kind of implied. for the fact that I didn't know he was going to tweet this but it's crazy to me that he just sent it because all you're doing is giving your client headaches so when you ask Ras he'll like to lose people .
I don't think so because if you look at how much money the guys made from their clients, that's all you really care about, but if you're Hoover and you didn't know about this, that's what it looks like. It's a little hard to be like that, not to be furious with the agent, what are you doing? I'm struggling this year. I'm in my own head, possibly the coaches in my head. Yes, I probably told you that there is a miserable atmosphere around. the room with Daryl Sutter constantly being a miserable asshole, but I don't need to answer several questions about your Tweet when I'm already under fire for my work, so maybe Huberto did know and that's the only explanation for me.
Yes, go ahead and send it, but then why agree to him doing that? You still know what implications that will have on you in the end, so it definitely got the hockey world talking and I can't even say that. The tweets are incorrect because in Calgary you look at the coach who is miserable when things don't go well, that's very evident from what we've heard in Los Angeles and when teams win you don't care what the coach says. What he says is that it's a lot of fun to win games, the guys don't care how the coach acts or treats people because you still win well when the losing starts, okay, well we're using the same systems that we're using.
Same lines and we're still losing, that's where Walsh says: Am I losing my mind or is nothing changing with this team that is severely underperforming so I don't know what the victory is from a tweet like that? What ends up being the best thing that can happen to your client, I don't know. I really do, but it was definitely cool to read on Twitter. I thought: make the podcast easier for me. It's okay with Jack Edwards, uh, embarrassing Patty Maroon. I'm pumping my fist when I'm writing it down in my notes for the next podcast while she's just walking around, it's pure entertainment.
I love the fact that she did this. She's yelling exactly what's going on in the locker room. I completely agree with you and that puts Hubert in the worst possible situation, but at the end of the day, Hubert could afford to build a new Arena himself, but the money already came out of there, so I can't feel so much shame. for him, an advantage for Alan Walsh 1.6 billion in sales, he will drop your balls on your forehead, he doesn't care. I want to see him and Sutter rough and rowdy in Calgary at this Saddle Dome during the Stampede.
I'll play the undercard with Revo, give me Walsh vs. Daryl, you're going to have Walsh take on this tough farmer from the Canadian West, that one probably won't end well for Walshie, maybe as a jiu jitsu master or something though, yeah, I feel like Walsh. he's crazy like he's the kind of guy that just takes off his shoes before a fight and you're like oh my god this guy is crazy he knows he's tough he shows his sword yeah the Tweet crawls like what you you've done. I've been saying you know about Daryl. I thought it was more or less in cahoots with what you've been saying all year, basically like you know the players aren't responding to him like they used to and despite not winning more than three games in a row this year.
Team A goals against more than three at a safe percentage under 90 Flames are just two points behind Minnesota for the second wild card, so it was inconsistent again, another team while doubling it, they are right in the thick of it thanks in large part to Lynn at home. For Folia and Cadre they've been playing really well, so I don't know if we'll see if they get in or not, but it's interesting, you have to feel like I feel bad for Mark Sherman in the sense that I know the guy well that he is. he's a competitor, he's a player, he cares about the craft and he's a professional and he's been a tough target, so you've got this guy who's like a potential Vesno winner last year, the last few years have been outstanding and You know he just can't. find their game so they get along and they had a chance to come in with well below average goaltending, so if that can somehow change, if you can somehow get him to find his game, then that's a team with the one that nobody wants to play in the first round. and I've been yapping about it all year and I hate giving away my sources because I'm a pretty loyal guy.
I don't like to name names, but Harvey the Hound I've been talking to him basically every other day and he's been saying, he tells me every day is like the day McTavish ripped his tongue out by the bench, that's what the environment and I'm sure that while she's getting this information from the same guy and it's hell right now and for Another source told me that there was a game they were playing against a bottom feeder recently that they ended up coming back to and I understood that if they looked for it, If they had lost that game, it was walking the table, Daryl Sutter, that was. the team that almost lost to a last feeder where they came back, I think it was the third one that they beat Columbus in overtime and the reason I know that is because Edmonton has me betting so hard I had 35 grand on Edmonton the game previous when they I lost to Columbus so Columbus crushed me for 35 grand then I lost another 10 grand in Edmonton against Detroit last week and then I had like 15 grand the next game in Calgary and Regulation and they won an overtime against Columbus, so Columbus completely ruined. my bank account at Barstool also got Calgary and regulation today and they aren't losing anything to the Flyers right now at home so maybe a coaching change would be the decision there.
I never support people losing their jobs. I'm not saying I want it to happen, but if you live in a tree like I don't know if you can't make deals and you made these big deals this summer, maybe the next question is coach, I mean, I don't know. I'm behind the bench, get the Dog behind the bench, this been at it all year, by the way, Columbus, man, they been playing the best hockey of the year, bet you keep an eye on them, man, they been getting some. good prices for the dog sorry but I know he could have used this last week but uh Columbus did you hear Jack uh trip?
Did you hear Jackie Edward's journey? the anthem singer before today's game oh my gosh, that's nice of him, yeah, well, probably a little too, he was coming in as one candidate, can you see, he laughed, made a joke about it and then Jack said, well, I hope the Bruins have a better save than the anthem singer today. I was like, oh man, this guy just can't let anyone down. get off the hook, he's trying to love him, you know, the Bruins anthem singer sings the anthem and then goes upstairs and waitresses during games, yeah, yeah, just go negotiate something important.
Brewings right after singing the hymns, he shouts he. to him, uh, what are you talking about the Edmonton Oilers? How about Conor McDavid on Connor, but that hit 100 points the same night? His eight-season career was the third most for a player before turning 27, only Wayne and Mario had more. He is the 16th player with at least six in a game. Sorry, most matches for an active player. Sid has six in 18 seasons. the only player with six too, let's see here, 53 seconds after McDavid reached 100, Connor, but that's good, his 50th goal of the season to give him 99 points, then he added an assist to give him 100 points, 100 points and 40 games played.
I mentioned a few minutes ago Arizona, are they playing themselves out of the Dad Lottery? Point to the ninth consecutive 49 points in 57 games, now the sixth with the fewest points, five teams below them, what are they doing here? Biz. I mean, I'm going back to that ridiculous thing in 53 seconds later, when Conor Bedard reaches a hundred points, the hockey gods are humming right now, all thanks to my prayer for Patrick Kane, he kind of got redirected, there must have been a flight from Frontier Airline, are the Coyotes playing out of a playoff spot? Yes, no, they were. never in a playoff spot they are amazing on the mullet they dominate the Atlantic I think they beat Lease both times this year I mean they beat Boston both times this year or at least once it's been a weird year for a team that's it a completely excessive achievement, they're doing it without chicken in the lineup too right now, so when they change it can we leave the chicken out like it's been three years?
Looks like they need to pack up both goalies and take them out. hence because they are both playing out of their minds right now. Ingram simply set the record for most saves with 47 in his first career shutout, so both goalies are playing extremely well. Clayton Keller is having an incredible season coming back from a broken femur uh schmaltzy looks amazing uh Barrett Hayden is also starting to recover machelli, you know, macheli, the Italian guy from Switzerland, but I think he has 25 cysts right now, which which takes all the rookies, so they're just playing good hockey and Batman.
He was right, Kim Jong-Betman said teams don't tank and he's absolutely right that we should get bonus points for the performance we're doing on that college track right now, but yeah, we're playing with Bedard, yeah. Taking out a major league, they thought they were going to collapse and the players took a personal, uh, back to Conor Ingram, that was great, Biz, uh, he was drafted in the third round, uh, in 2016, they traded him to Nashville, put up a wave, Nashville shot it. He gave up one of the shootouts, but nothing amazing only if you're a fan of the game, so congratulations to Conor Ingram and belated congratulations to Dallas he died.
Jamie is leaning toward reaching 1,000 NHL games played against Anaheim in a couple of weeks. Back off, we can't let news like this be published without giving a big shout out to player number 379 to do it too. With some commentary on J Amy Benz 1000. Just an all-time contender. I remember playing against him. and you're one of those guys that's changed and these players are showing up less and less the more the game changes, where you have to be on your toes because you don't know if he's going to drag her, you don't. I know if he's going to elbow you in the head and that might sound brutal to some people, but as a former player and someone who loves the game, those are the guys you want on your team, loved by their teammates, it's not miss him being the captain there and being there so long and just to play the way he has, that's hard on the body and maybe you've seen a little bit of a slowdown in his career lately, but when you play so hard it's hard to play that long so even get a thousand. games, I mean, one thing that comes to mind is when he faced Joe Thornton, just two studs.
Thornton always played like that, but he also only produced points. Jamie Ben, I think he led the league in scoring in one year. an incredible career for a guy who I think makes it miserable to play against someone incredible and if you look at GMS and the coaches around the league, those are the guys they want and want them even without the offense and the broken game. skills that he's had for so long, so if you look back as a Dallas Stars fan, he'll immediately come to mind as an all-time great player for that team and I think he's had an incredible season. .
Also, this year you bounce back and hear if you're the player and you've had the career and the resume that he has to be called up with Sagan by the owner, whoever that was a few years ago. That's not easy for anyone to handle, let alone a guy who has accomplished what Jamie Ben has, so you watch a lot of Pride and you see a guy who just goes to the track every day and there's an easy explanation for us. which describes These guys who make it to a thousand games because they all have the same characteristics and Jamie Ben is no different so I hated playing against him and I would have loved to have him as a teammate so that's a pretty easy explanation for why this .
The guy's been so good for so long, yeah, the first guy in a big crisis and the first guy in NHL history to winthousand games that he doesn't eat, it's like it's crazy to think about it, but yeah, I mean, I just want to say, probably the second most. famous person on the planet who has made it known that he does not do nonsense with Barn DJ Khalid and Jamie Ben, so congratulations on a thousand games, he is a legend, his teammates love him, he has an incredible salad, still, you think with him game stress. maybe that thing backs off a little bit, but it's got the tattoos and the slickback, no wonder you don't have to eat, it looks like a rocket man, yeah exactly, I found out it's not a uh Biz La, spread defenseman Mikey Anderson.
With an eight and 33 million dollar contract with an AAV of 4.125, he has a modified no-trade clause for the last five years. The 23-year-old was Ellie's fourth-round pick in 2017. What do you think of this deal business? We talked about how underrated the core leader was. it was uh uh Maddie Roy uh, they got that guy from Jersey who can Buzz offensively, they got Dowdy and they got Mikey Anderson, he's a pretty stable defenseman, uh, very good on his own end, plays with advantage, a lot of hip checks , throw something huge. hits and a guy who doesn't really get talked about, probably enough because he plays at 10:30 ET every night, so I think overall, with respect to where the market is going, everything that could have left a little on the table is a very conservative agreement for both parties. but uh, no, I guess he didn't want to bet on himself, but he's going to stay in Los Angeles and play with a good team and a well-deserving man, that's a big commitment to gain a number four defenseman.
I think it's an incredible move by Rob Blake and it's very similar to the Samuelson-Buffalo deal in terms of, "Okay, we have the ability to lock this guy up where a player like this can't say no to $33 million." that's what changes your life, you're set for life and we're also going to settle because it's probably going to be worth more than that so it's a win-win because this kid has financial security for the rest of his life if he's smart. . and it's almost a bigger win for the team to lock up a guy for so long at a very reasonable price so LA Kings fans can know how good and valuable this kid is.
I think he dominated in Minnesota. Duluth granelli was the school he was in. In um, I thought yeah, he was so college, yeah, a college guy won a couple of national championships. I think also, yeah, so he knows what it takes to win, obviously, college is different than winning, you know, four rounds in the playoffs, but by the law. it's just that those are the type of guys that really don't want to risk getting injured or playing or just not developing like they should. It's like 33 million dollars or whatever it turned out to be. Yeah, look, give me the dotted line right now. and Rob Blake sits back and says dude we just locked up one of the top four d-man for eight years we had a great deal so that's what you see the league turning to now to identify your talent you know who can play at the top. level and let's lock him up for a long time to just give them the option, hey, this is the amount of money we're willing to give you right now, dare to say no. those are also the good ones when maybe you're not playing your best, It's also not like you're not on top of the headlines because you're only making four million dollars, suddenly you're a Defender like that making six uh, you're easy to pick out from the crowd, so like you said, I don't think I would have been able to play. with it up to around 6 million.
I don't think there's enough offense in his game for that, but you definitely can't say no to eight years 33 million dollars you'd be a buffoon big collapse guys uh guys uh the Quebec Peewee tournament just ended the other day our guy Colby Armstrong was there with his son's team we had a nice chat with him, so we'll send it to the dog on the arm right now from Chiclets. Game notes, so enjoy Quebec Peewee's chat. This interview was presented by Sport Clips. Consider that not all stylists are created equal as many stylists. The game notes just came down from a 75 bus ride from Quebec at the Peewee tournament. Colby Armstrong. What's going on, friend? What happened this weekend? holy fellas, wit, was all you brought, how long have you been, how long were you there, brother? I feel like you were six months, yeah, French, now, yeah, bonjour, gentlemen, he had to renounce his American citizenship, that's how long he was there, yeah, they're after me, when I crossed, they're like I consumed too much Tim Hortons, sir, can't cross the border, too much all-time citizen, yeah, too much poutine, guys, it was poutine on your donor list in your life, your driver's license, sauce alone. cheese curds with pure sauce all over uh, it was 10 days, it was 10 days like, I don't know what you did, that with 10 days is crazy, yeah, we were there, well, we were there, well, you wanted to finish.
It was about two weeks, but you guys got there and you didn't have a game for four or five days or it was your exhibition games before the tournament, so you know you have random games, so we played a game against a random game. like the next day against La Junior Kings, but their team didn't show up because apparently the tournament is supposed to bring it, so this other team was playing, so it was actually cool that our team played against the Swiss team, which was sweet for a while Then the L.A Junior Kings team didn't come, we've played them a few times, so we thought, why are we playing these guys?
We play against them all the time. It's much cooler to play. The Swiss were sick, so the Swiss. The team stayed playing with us for a while, their team got here, we finished the game against La Junior Kings and then it was the genius of the Carnival and you know Merle gave us the blog about how this is like you're in a movie, boy , so I gotta go to this, it's absolutely electric, we gotta go, we gotta go guys to the Quebec Peewee tournament, Chiclets team. I think it would be an amazing experience of culture, hockey, Quebec City and winter and all the things you can bring. but everyone was talking about you guys, I think they're going to go deeper into the checklist.
Game notes. The reason I wanted to include them today was to maybe get the Kohl's notes or whatever you guys call them. the states again I always forget those Cliff Notes um, but we've been talking about this for two weeks, I know, but it doesn't click in my brain, okay, um, but Whit has been talking about this forever about how he ended up winning it. the North Shore Kings right on the p and this is like, oh my gosh, North Shore, it's like you're playing with tires, but ingenuity had to experience this, where these Peewee hockey players basically get to experience the National Hockey League, where each game is full of everything.
The locals are coming out, you mentioned it's Carnival so take us from the beginning with this crazy bus ride to get there. How excited the children were to go play. I know there was a little delay, so you guys finally. I jumped into action, but like when you texted us about the end result and we'll get to that, that got me back into playing minor hockey. Nobody. I got goosebumps talking about competitiveness right now and not just to see your son. to get to experience that, but what it was like to experience it as a father and see his son go through something like that, well, yeah, it was, it's incredible and I didn't get to play in anything like that.
Biz, I don't. I know if you did it for me going into this, that's all I heard, obviously, Wit and Merles. I've played with other guys and we watch, you know, off of ESPN and NHL Network. I talked to him a while ago like a month and a half ago and I told him this is our year we're going to go and he said, oh my gosh, man, this is the best thing I've ever done in my life, you're going to love it, coming from guys, yes. Coming from guys who played in the NHL and like the playoffs and chased Stanley Cups and did all these amazing things in their life and still go back to their you know, when they were 12 years old in this tournament like crazy.
I was like, yeah, okay guys and I always said you guys always talked about it like you were pro players with guys that played there and talked about it like it was the greatest thing in the world, about how good this could be. , but being there I am no longer cut out for the bus. The little kids collapsed, we drove all night, we got to our hotel rooms that weren't ready because we got there like seven in the morning and we couldn't check into our hotel room yet at four, so of course , what are you doing? going around going back thought before taking the kids to the strip club yes, it was Ben, the kitchen, putting the hard buffet on them Planning by the Pittsburgh Junior pens like what hotel can you walk into at seven in the morning no, I know, teach your kids about adversity, right? coming in, yeah, your hotel rooms aren't ready, any man, you have a friend, what are they doing?, it's amazing, you walk out of your hotel room down the main street of Quebec until you reach Old Quebec, right in the middle there is an exterior.
The rink was set up and it's like kids from all different teams from all over, there's 120 teams there from 16 different countries and their leaderboard is just onslaught, it was amazing, it was amazing, there's ice bars outside. I'm drinking, uh, I am. drinking Maple whiskey everyone's drinking this uh like mulled wine I'm drinking hot toddies I've got the cane behind me right here that Merle told me to get them Spinning around this cane you take the top off and drink it it was like it's like The First Four days we didn't really have much to do and it was Carnival, so it was like putting on the winter gear and like that The city doesn't stop, they don't even care about the snow, they don't shovel it, it's like always snowing, it's crazy, like you were in a movie for our American listeners, uh, listening right now, uh, the drinking age in Quebec is actually 10 years old.
I'm sure the kids were chasing it too, oh yeah, kids just getting hit just spilled, I thought this is a Caesar, this is what we drink in Canada too, yeah, so, it was amazing and I hadn't even given us like the Tron video still with a like, well, you would have played it, so that's it. kind of like what I wanted to ask you now at the time I was playing, it was still called Call, I think that was the name when the Norse were there, you know, obviously the sponsorships have changed, now it's the Tron video.
The first thing I know is that you love sponsors, so I remember that before the first game called we said that there are a lot of nerves, not only because you have been waiting since you were nine or ten years old and you like to dream of playing in this tournament, but that Also the fact that you get on the ice, I mean, there are almost always at least seven Grand, the final semi-finals are packed, but I just remember that you get on the ice, you are in an arena the size of the NHL, you are like a Holy shit, there are fans here.
So the kids were a little nervous, maybe a little too excited? How was that? I think our children were very nervous. I don't think they knew what to expect, but we don't play Race like that, you're 12 years old. in the box range with steel bleachers that give you hemorrhoids, you know, and there's like, you know, I know, yeah, I'm trying to get us a couple of ads here, we need some hemorrhoids ads for hockey dads, shit, Cindy's American spokesperson. I know she needed a different cream so the little kids atmosphere was that and that's the first game you play everyone has a game in the Toronto Arena video where the Quebec Ram parts play Patrick Wah and the uh of he.
What team, which I think is doing very well this year, there are one or two inwe have our second white Slam Dunk champion, that's true. I've been getting a lot of requests lately at Portnoy to have a one on one after our online filming presentations. I don't know if it will ever happen, but I will get Redemption someday. I'll get Redemption one day, but have you seen any? from the game Biz I don't know if I didn't see any of that I heard it was horrible I mean one of the All-Star coaches said it was the worst basketball game ever played uh it's a joke but the The fact that this kid brought the entertainment to the duck dunk contest where all the celebrities present loved it and like I said this guy is going to make life changing money because of this, I don't know if it was right after or before he signed with the 76ers D team -League, so I know this kid has a chance to maybe one day play in the NBA.
I don't know what the basics of it are. I don't know everything about basketball, but when it comes to This league is concerned about a lot of recognition for this guy and, as a result, what he is going to do in the future also has to do with the monetary situation. His career earnings are one hundred and six thousand dollars. He won a hundred thousand dollars just by winning. the dunk contest so like you said that's going to be life changing there are sponsorships you know what's coming and man needs to do more of these anonymous if they're going to bring energy to the dunk contest there hasn't been this.
A lot of hype around the contest since Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady were doing it, yeah, it seems like NBA fans like NHL fans, it's like everything is all set with the All-Star, what about a thumbs up for the child and a thumbs down for? In the NBA I responded to a tweet from a big cat who mentioned that it's disgusting that none of the players agreed to be the last overall pick, so they changed the draft format and everything and did something where they selected the reserves and then the headlines so basically Someone wouldn't be embarrassed enough if you remember Phil Kessel sat there and took abuse from Ovechkin and everyone else and it was so funny and it's like who cares.
I'm an All-Star, I'm one of the best at what I do in the world and not to mention he was like oh boohoo. I earn 17 million a year. I'm the last pick in the NBA All-Star draft and people were quick to remind me that it's like 35 million. Like I'm underestimating what these guys are doing and they were still being too babies to possibly be the last pick it's like, oh my god, can you not take yourself that seriously for a second? That's incredible, it's embarrassing and Phil Kessel, I mean, he's done. being the last choice, but then he got a nice Chevy.
I mean he could even get a Chevy EV. I think so, they gave him a car which was also very funny, like he was looking for a comment on my brilliance. I think so. it was Bleacher Report on Instagram, they liked it, oh look how the guys have aged over the years and it's seemed like a castle to them early in their career, so next time it's like you really went to left field for that, in other words, like Kessel. Not everything has changed in the league. I don't know if I'll see if I can find it and send it to you, but wait, we have to go to the ROM once Genesis has completed half of the head-to-head battle at home. or in the final stretch and the Holman that's behind the guy really uh excited choked up about that like uh some pretty nice stuff uh not hard to watch I mean I think just humanizing them a little bit Yeah, Max at home is a crazy story um well first John ROM is one of the most dominant golf stretches of all time as a tiger included in his last nine world starts, he has won five of them and I think in the other four he is finishing in second third fourth place, It's like there's no one better in the world right now than He regained the number one spot in the official world golf rankings.
It's ridiculous how they do it. He is by far, and even before this week, the number one player in the world. So it's an incredible move on his part, but the home is an incredible story, um yeah. You can't do it if you're a golf fan, you know very well who he is and if you're not a golf fan, it's an interesting and interesting story. He was a global fan. I think he won the ncaa. An amazing guy from um came up in the game of tour golf, then turned pro and just lost the game of him and I would love to have him at some point.
He appears on all the podcasts. I'm sure we can include it in um. I've chatted with them on Instagram or Twitter before, he seems like a great guy but he completely lost his game and ended up at Q school for the Corn Fairy Tour, maybe the PGA Tour will head for birdie, I think the last five holes even to get. status the next year and he really became famous in the golf world on Twitter because he's so funny, he's able to chirp people's swing in a great way, where he has a different response for every swing that people send him and then , suddenly.
While he was on social media and just training, I read an article where he said I'm going to be the hardest working person in golf, I'm not going to worry about the results, I'm just going to worry about you. I know the route on how I think I can get there, man. He became I think he's eighth in the world right now and it's like competing and he doesn't have a chance to win major events. I mean, he won the Genesis two years ago. I think he got emotional talking about how hard he fought there. he didn't have his swing on the back nine, he made a good fade, a t-ball from left to right and everything was going left, so he held on and still gave it a great run down the back nine, but what I was mentioning That's when he won it and he's a kid from Los Angeles.
When he won it two years ago there were no fans, so I think all the fans that supported him and all these people that he knows are from Los Angeles and they play in Los Angeles at Riviera. It meant a lot to him to remember how hard he fought when he didn't have his best game and to know that all these people were there to support him, support them, so if you're going to win with class, you have to lose with class and I don't think there's anything more elegant than the way he addressed the loss and explained how it all happened on the same side of golf, the full swing was released, which is the documentary on Netflix, it's similar to what Netflix did with F1 and it's been a huge success.
I think it has helped increase the audience and F1 has become much bigger in the United States. It was always such a global sport that now I think because of that documentary, more American people are tuning in. in I've seen half of them or yeah, I think there's eight, so I've seen four of them, okay, I was expecting a little more. These golfers, man, they are weird cats, man, it's like the Justin Thomas episode, uh, them. Sorry, no, I mean you said they're weird cats and I said, "You think I've seen a couple of clips where Kepka looks like an idiot, yeah, he just can't get out of his way one bit." the ultimate Hardo, but even with him they're at home and he won four majors, the best in the game, one golf over a three-year period and all of a sudden he's sitting there saying, "Anyone who plays golf will." I know he's like I lost my swing, I lost my game, it's like I sit back when I play bad and I'm like, I'm so bad at golf right now, the game is crazy, like one day you'll play amazing. and nothing will change and the next day everything feels different and when you see these high level world class players going through the same thing that 10 handicappers go through, it's a very crazy game, but in one of the episodes it turns out that Justin Thomas is follow him in the PGA Championship that he won last year so he's very lucky that Netflix follows the guy that ends up winning and team sports are amazing because you build this brotherhood and this camaraderie and you watch individual sports and yeah when they win .
They get all the praise and when they lose it's just them that take the beating and beat themselves up, but Thomas wins and it's this media madness and the celebration with his family and the emotional thing is his second major and he's walking towards the parking lot. a lot and he's like that's it, it's like I wish he was slower, like he suddenly gets in the car and it's over and I'm sure he's celebrating with friends at home, but it made me appreciate, you know, having played a team sport. all my life. because you know, I don't know, but you win the Stanley Cup, it's the guys, you know, it's just the guys and it's just you and the guys talking about what each guy meant to the team and what you went through in every battle that each guy had. player. throughout the season with the media, with the coach, with themselves and to play individual sports, you almost have to be a bit of a sociopath in terms of shutting down everything and everyone and focusing on yourself, so it's hard to be a person normal. human when everything depends on you and what you do, then the document, the documentary so far, the best episode was the one with Joel Damon, who has some kind of career, he has had a crazy life, you know, his mother passed away at a young age because of cancer, so it's a big coming for cancer, then he had testicular cancer and he became the 70th player in the world, but talk about these top 10 players, these John ROM, the Justin Thomas guys and after him and says, "I'm not." Even close to these guys I can't win a major, but if anyone has to be the 70th best golfer in the world, it might as well be me, so if you like golf, I think you'll enjoy it.
I think people who are really interested in golf, maybe we wait a little longer and maybe people who aren't golf fans will really enjoy it and start playing golf, but golf is in a good place. I think the PJ Tour is exciting. live golf that's why no, I don't really like that, I don't blame the guys who took the money, but I also think there's probably some regret inside those guys. Wow, nice synopsis, we should also mention our new partner. Worker Dan Rappaport also appears in that documentary series. He works with the foreplay guys. It's good to see him there.
Yeah, buddy, my mom doesn't like golf at all. He wet himself all weekend, so he enjoyed it. but check it out guys this has been an amazing show going through any final thoughts before we finish it or you mentioned uh coworker and we haven't been able to access this podcast because it ran so long but uh boy who showed up from Long Island in Fort Lauderdale and this is not over uh granelli got some emails if you want to come in and talk about this is it okay to talk about it? His mom reached out via email to basically let us know this kid needs to get out of my house, he needs a job, that's where we are at this point, yeah his mom, she seems like a really nice lady, she sent me some emails this weekend. week and she assured me. "He tells us that he won't cut our throats, so I think that's the main point he was trying to get across: he won't cut our throats, he's a hard worker and, yeah, we'll see what happens, well, I'll say that I" .
I've heard from a lot of people, I would say the overwhelming response I have is that you are absolutely crazy to hire this guy. I received a lot of text messages. I received. Had. I had support for him. Supporting this text made me laugh even though it said you don't hire the general manager of the bar, never ever a complete psychopath. I've had to fire people like him. Stay away from probably quite valid points. What I say again is that he made such a God. Very good job, my friends are telling him the story when they were here, they mentioned that there was no chance that he wasn't doing this earlier in his life, like when he says that he was working for the islanders he that he was going. to Islanders events and saying he worked for the Islanders to people at the event and then telling the Islanders that he worked he was Lou's assistant he was he was Lou's assistant that's what he put on his resume who It's this guy yeah, who is the person next to me I actually received one last note.
Yesterday I had a fundraiser here in Charlestown. An old friend of mine. I have known Jimmy Hinkston for 45 years. He is going through a battle with cancer right now and they had a farm fundraiser. I just want to say hello hinky, I love you buddy and I hope you get through this. Hundreds of people attended on a Saturday. I saw a Sunday afternoon to show up. You know they had raffles and silent auctions and everything. Those things, I literally never saw so many people at Columbus Nights in my life. It was a great day, a lot of people from the city, you know, like you're talking about people supporting their friends and that makes you proud of me as a city. like that and then people from out of town come to support them, so again Jim, if you listen to me, man, we love you and we will support you and we will help you get through this, man, it's okay.
Is there a link so people can donate anywhere or do you want to tweet a link and then we can retweet it from the Chiclets account so people know where to donate? I will absolutely look it up and send it to you. Well, good thinking, Mike, soso thank you for letting me say I'll end this by saying once again, thank you so much to my family, my friends, my wife, a very special couple of days for me. I don't deserve it, but I just had it. It was a great moment and I think for anyone listening, as you get older and as you have kids or get married or even as you move forward in life, you think that friendship is very important, but it's also hard work, so sometimes you have to do it. great friends and when you see them, yes, it's like no time has passed and you're good friends again, but my only advice would be to do your best to stay in touch.
I have people who are friends for life and who are very good at staying in touch. I play because it's work and um, but there's nothing more meaningful than a great friendship so I'm sure all of you listeners have people that mean a lot to you and all of you listeners mean a lot to us so a once again, another. week, this is a very exciting part of the year for us, we will have more episodes when the playoffs start, so it's a great time to be a Chiclets fan. I wait and I think, and it's so much fun working on the show with you. guys and I wish they had been here too to carry the load in Carolina.
I can't thank you enough for that and I hope you all have a great week. Oh, my last thing, so I'll play on Gasparilla. an amazing mid-morning tournament that I wouldn't be in without the help of some members who helped me enter this tournament. I make friends with people there, so they invite me back. My goal is to make the cut. I have played in two. Of them the first time I played it wasn't close, the second time I played I doubled two of the last three holes and missed the Cup by one, so this is the year for the clever dog, maybe if enough people show up They approach grinnellie or myself and I want a summary of the round.
I know sometimes people like that, a lot of people hate it. I could do it on my Twitter after every round if you want, but they have bookmarks with your photos, they have fans, it's pretty special. event so I can't wait to get down and give it my all starting on Thursday so I was going to say my only advice would be don't give tampons to anyone if you're driving don't do it. No, we don't need cancer, hey, that story, people are really angry about it because let me tell you something: one time he drove a guy to a tournament and handed him a skirt or something, so where's the anger?
By that I mean, what's the difference? The tiger made a bit of a funny joke. Women hit the ball shorter than men. Okay, that's facts, that's science. Sorry to break it to you, so when Tiger Woods, in his late 50s, beats her by one. of the longest hitters in the game and he makes a joke about the Tampax and you're really offended, see yourself, you know, it's a big deal, it's just a beach whistle that gives a hey, okay, what a group, guys, it was Wonderful, I love you guys, wet, happy. Friend number 40, you deserve it, you are a machine and G, two plugs for the YouTube channel, you are on top of the world, baby, I love it, baby, foreigner.
