thank you sign. We'll need some

dollar

tree

wood grain contact paper. We're going to need a three pack of these five gallon paint stir sticks from Lowe's for 98 cents and a piece of

foam

board

that is black now the first thing we're going to do is take our paint stir sticks and we're going to measure to determine the measurements to cut. What I ended up with was two rods cut to 17 inches and the last rod cut in half to eight and a half inches in two pieces, so now we can design our frame and I plan to paint my frame so the measurement markings won't be an issue on this design.

Now I'm going to use this dollar wood glue. tree to attach the frame and you want to apply that wood glue to the ends of both long pieces as shown here and then just apply those shorter pieces between the two longer pieces on that brand of glue now I'm going to be Using this square dollar tree carpenter to help keep my frame square now once my frame is nice and dry I'm going to use these half inch wire nails for a little more security in those corners as these nails are very little ones. I'm going to hold these nails with a pair of needle nose pliers while I nail them into each corner.

Now we're going to put two nails in each corner of our frame, so now we're going to paint this frame with chalk paint, but first. I'm going to take six of these blocks and use them as insert supports, so I'll arrange the blocks as shown here and then apply hot glue to the side of each of them. the blocks and I want to secure them in place and once the hot glue is very dry we can proceed to paint our frame. Now I'm going to take my chalk paint and I'm going to start on the inside of the frame and What I'm going to do is apply a nice coat of this white chalk paint and now that the inside of the frame is painted we can go ahead and cover those blocks and now we can paint the border and the outside and once everything is painted we can set the frame aside to dry so now we can work on the word of thanks.

Now I'm just going to remove the tags and the string from the back, so let's go ahead and paint it and I. I'm going to use this acrylic paint now I could use chalk paint but I like acrylic paint for the letter as it goes on much smoother and is much easier to spread now I'm going to start applying the paint all over the outside of the word first and then I'm going to proceed to paint the surface of the word and then once it's all painted, we can set it aside to dry. Now let's grab that black

foam

board

.
Now this has been cut to six and a half inches wide and eight and a half inches wide. Now this was done by tracing the inside of that frame onto this board before adding the blocks. Then I'm going to lay down a cutting mat and I want to grab that contact with the grain of the wood. paper and I'm just going to cut a piece to start working so we're going to cut two inch strips and you want to

make

sure that your cuts go along the grain of that contact paper and

using

a ruler and an exact knife makes the cuts straighter and we're going to cut five strips so now I'm going to grab some painter's tape and I want to tape that foam board to the mat just to keep it in place and now we can move on. and start adding our strips now since I'm going for a wood plank look, I'll be cutting the pieces to different lengths and I want to make sure those seams are straight and staggered.
Now you want to make sure you have enough contact. paper overlapping that shorter edge to fold under when you're done. Now when you start applying that second piece to the first row you want to make sure you leave about an 1 8 inch gap between the two boards and this will give you a more natural look now you want to continue this across the entire board making sure to stagger those seams and they don't line up from row to row if you have a little bit of a border left at the top, just go ahead and do this.
Staggered placement now, once all the pieces are in place you just want to flip the board over and start folding under those overlapping pieces on the edge and for those longer pieces on top you just want to cut the end of the edge. at an angle and you want to fold it and secure it in place now, once your board is ready, go ahead and take that word of thanks and we want to center it on the board. Now I'm going to use painter's tape to mark the location so that when we remove it to add the glue we don't lose our place, so now I'm just going to take my

high

temperature hot glue and I want to apply glue to the entire back of the word and then adhere it. to the board on our marks that we put there now, once everything dries, we can grab our frame and we're just going to take our board and insert the board into the frame.
Now this should fit nice and snug but you can add hot glue to the top of those blocks on the inside for a little extra security if you want and now you have a beautiful finished sign so now you can put it on display and enjoy this creation. I think this piece turned out

amazing

. Now I am really impressed with these words on the dollar tree this year and it really makes your crafts look

high

end and this tiled wood plank design turned out great and is the perfect backdrop for this clean modern look, now with this neutral palette.
It will be easy to match any home

decor

. Now we can start with the window panel. I did an internet search and found a window panel design I liked, then I resized and printed it, then cut it out and taped it on. I have included a link. in the description box below for the file I created for your personal use, next we're going to go ahead, take our foam board and place our window design on top, facing down, then we're just going to secure it in place now , grab your embossing tool and we're going to trace the outline of that window onto the foam board, being careful not to press too hard and pierce it, then we'll go ahead and remove our stencil and the embossed line should be visible for you to follow below , go ahead and lay down that protective cutting mat and we're going to price that board on top and grab our exact knife, then we're going to cut carefully and follow those raised lines and we're going to cut out the window openings now, when we're done we're going to carefully remove all of those trims just use your x-acto knife to cut out any areas you missed and here it is completely trimmed now go ahead and take your second foam board and place your window pane on top .
We'll take your hot glue and apply a bead of glue to the back and then turn it over to adhere it to that foam board. we're just going to gently press it into place now, all we have to do is follow those cutouts from our previous window and remove them just like we did before we folded that foam board, which makes this a very sturdy and strong screen now once. These are all trimmed, just use a nail file to smooth out all the cuts and remove any jagged edges. Now we're going to distress our window pane, so go ahead and protect your work surface and gather your painting supplies now.

using

three acrylic paints, one in this dark gray color called pavement, another in white and then the last in brown.
Now with a thin brush we want to mix that pavement color into that brown and start painting random scuff lines. your window pane, then you're going to take your dry chip brush and you're going to mix and match the white and the colors of the pavement and then we're going to lightly beat that brush on the window to create wear and tear and now that it's all dry we're ready to put our crown. Now you can secure it with hot glue, but I chose to use this floral wire that I already had on hand, so I'll be able to change the wreath with the seasons, so just flip it over and then. cut a piece of that wire now you just want to run it around the wreath and twist it at the back to secure it to the window frame.
You want to do this in a few places and that's it, now you can add any embellishments. If you like it, I'll go ahead and add a ribbon I made to some dollar tree burlap. Now you can hot glue this on, but I just wanted to use a paper clip to secure it in place so I could swap it out. I'm also going to add this metal welcome sign cut out of the dollar tree that was available during Thanksgiving and just place it on your greenery and here is my completed project. You know, guys, I wanted one of these vintage ones. style wreath windows for so long and I'm so excited to be able to create this from items that were a dollar or less.
I love how you captured that cozy rustic farmhouse look, the detail that was added to distress and age it, it looks so realistic and as you can see it is very very simple to make. We will also need a piece of dollar tree foam board. We will need some branches or sticks from the garden and we will also use these bird silhouette options that are. linked in the description box below to print now, the first thing we're going to do is remove the entire tumbler box from the packaging, then we're going to go ahead and just put some plastic down to protect our work surface and we're going to place all of our blocks on top of it and then we will take the stain of your choice and this is called Jacob Bean.
Let's also grab some gloves and a small cloth. Now let's go ahead and put on the gloves. and get ready to dye, so we just want to go ahead and take our rag, dip it in the dye and apply it to all of the block pieces and now that all of the pieces are ready, we're going to go ahead and take all of our blocks outside so that Let them dry now, after a few hours, they are all dry and we are ready to work with them. Now we'll set them aside and we'll go ahead and grab our foam board and then we could just put our blocks down. just above now we're going to start applying the blocks along the top edge of the foam board with hot glue.
Now we're going to apply 11 blocks on top and then we're going to go ahead and apply one block going down the side of the foam board and this time there will be seven blocks. Now at the end of this row, I'm just going to apply a block at the bottom as a start for that bottom row and I'm going to use that as a guide and once the blocks are in place, simply measure the distance from this block to the bottom of the board and we will mark that measurement on the bottom so we know where to place all our blocks.
We're just going to line up our marks and draw our line and now I'm going to place 11 blocks on the bottom, so now we've reached the end and we're going to connect our side, so I'm going to take a straight line. edge and draw a line connecting the last row of blocks, so now that everything is glued together, we're going to take our cutting mat and I'm going to cut our frame with my exact knife and here's our frame, all ready to go. Come on now. that we have our frame, we can grab our sticks. Now what we are going to do with our sticks is determine which ones we would like to use for our artwork once you decide on the pieces you want. we're just going to go ahead and trim those branches down to the right size and now all you have to do is go ahead and hot glue those branch places into place now once they're in place we can go ahead and grab our bird

printable

s and Decide which birds you would like to use for your artwork now, once you have decided go ahead and grab a black sheet of foam felt cardstock or whatever you have on hand and want to place the birds that you want to use on top. so we can cut them out now, I'm just going to use a little bit of painter's tape just to secure them to my foam sheet while I cut them out and now that all the birds are cut out we can place them on our branches. and once your birds have their home, you can go ahead andHot glue them into place.
Now my bottom mark sticks out of the board about half an inch, so now I'm going to glue my birds under my branch to make the branch look like it's behind the birds. I'm just going to mark that branch with a marker so it blends in and now this is perfect like this, but if you want to add optional leaves, I'll show you how I now cut out some leaves. from a thrift store plant that I already had in my stash, so what I'm going to do to make little leaves is just fold them and cut them.
Now you can get two or three small leaves from each. of the larger leaves for this print and then I will start applying the leaves randomly to the piece with hot glue. Now, once those leaves are ready, we'll add a hanging wire that I formed from a piece of wire. from the dollar tree, so I'm just going to turn it over and mark the center and then put that wire in place and then hot glue it on. Once the hot glue dries, everything is ready and we can hang it and Here is the complete project. Look.I really love this look and the frame looks so good, the silhouette of the birds looks

amazing

on this piece and they blend perfectly with those branches.
Now the blocks also look great in this rich brown stain and really elevate the look of the entire piece. For this project we will need some of these long dollar tree skewers, two of these dollar tree foam boards, and a sheet of this dollar tree cardstock that we will paint and give it this galvanized metal look. Now the first. What we want to do is print the template for the window provided in the description box below. Now all we want to do is tape it as shown here. Now we will only use the outer edge of this template for this project.
Now take a sheet of foam board and you want to place your template right on top near the edges and then we just want to secure it in place with some painter's tape. Now, once secured, I'll use this stamping tool to trace the outside. window shape on the board now you can use a pen or pencil to do this too now once the first half has been traced go ahead and remove the tape and the stencil and then we'll just turn it over and then we want to line it up and overlap that inside line by an inch and then tape it to the board and then we'll continue tracing the other half just like we did with the first half.
Now once you're done, you just take a pencil and I want to mark the outline that you just traced. Once that is complete we will mark the inside line so I wanted my frame to be a little thicker than the template so I will mark my inside about an inch and a half. from the outside line and I'm just going to use a ruler to measure an inch and a half. Now we're going to line up those marks that we made and we're going to take that ruler and connect the marks to form the inside part of the frame and here's our frame, all traced out on the board, so now we're going to place our protective mat and I'm going to cut the frame with an x-acto knife with a new blade now for everyone. of the edges that are straight use the guide of a ruler to make those cuts and then you have to carefully run the knife along the cuts that are curved and now that the outside is cut we just want to redo this for the inside and here Yes our frame is all cut out, now we want to grab that second foam board and we want to place our cut out frame on top of that board and then we're going to grab our glue gun and we want to apply a little bit of glue around the frame. in sections to adhere it to that foam board, then make sure to go under the edges applying that glue to make sure we have a secure and tight connection.
Now once the frame is all secured we're going to cut it to the shape of the frame and now our double layer frame is cut now I'm just going to take my sanding block and sand or sandpaper and you can go around all the edges to make them nice and smooth, so now that our frame is all sanded we can move. In the wreath we are going to take one of those centers that we cut from the frame to make the wreath. Now I'm going to use a compass to draw a 10 inch circle, a couple of 10 inch circles and for the crown. base, you can make it bigger if you want, but I settled for 10 inches for this project and then once I drew my outside circle, I used an inch and a half thick and set my compass to draw another circle on the inside now that both of those are drawn, just go ahead and grab your x-acto knife and cut out the circles now, once you've cut out the top of the frame just stick it on top of the other part of the board and then cut it out with the x. -Act knife after gluing it well into place and then you want to go ahead and smooth out the rough edges.
Now for the wreath leaves, you can write them

free

hand or you can use the template I provided in the description box below, just print. get it out on cardstock, now you want to take that sheet of painted cardstock. I created this by painting it with silver paint and rubbing it with a paper towel while it was wet. Now I'll put a link on how to do this at the top. Right corner of this video and I will also put it in the description box below. Now just go ahead and flip that sheet over and what we'll do is trace our template sheet on the back to cut out the sheets now for these sheets.
For this size wreath we will cut about 28 leaves, so first you just cut the leaf shape out of that cardstock and then place the template, take the pencil and then trace the leaf shape on the back of the cardstock and here are all my shapes traced out on the back of that cardstock, so now I'm going to cut them out with an x-acto knife because it's faster for me, but you can also use scissors. I'm going to take your cutting mat and cut out all of your leaf shapes and here are all the pieces cut out now to make sure the fold is straight and centered.
I'm going to use a ruler and that embossing tool to create a Fold in the center of each leaf and now that our leaves are shaped, we can add rustic accents. To do this I'm going to use this dark brown color, this black acrylic color and just a touch of this red acrylic color that we want to mix and mix the colors until you get a rich dark brown color and then take one of your sheets and start dabbing it on. on the sheet. You should also make sure to outline each leaf with this color and then finish by adding random rustic details and let them dry completely and now we will take the wreath ring that we cut we will use hot glue to attach the leaves so start by adding a leaf that points slightly facing outward and then hot glue it into place and then place another sheet on top pointing inward, just making sure they overlap slightly under each other.
You just want to make sure you don't see any of the crown underneath and here's my entire crown. fill in now for the frame I'm going to measure to figure out the alignment to place my skewers now the opening is about 15 inches so the skewers will sit about 5 inches apart from top to bottom now the inside length is about one-fifth of 25 inches so the middle skewers will be placed approximately eight inches apart from side to side. Now I'm just going to make sure everything looks good before I paint and glue on the skewers. Make sure you check those marks and then we can continue and here we are.
I'm ready to paint, so I'm going to use this white acrylic paint that gives brown color and this pavement gray paint. Now I've started. Oops, I didn't turn on my camera, sorry, but all I did was make some brown marks with that nutmeg paint mixed with a little bit of gray and you just place it randomly and then I'm going to do some of that gray pavement with the white and I want to remove most of that so you have a mostly dry brush and then we're going to brush dry the accents around the frame and then you want to wash your brush and you want to brush dry a little bit of that white as a finishing touch , this will blend all your distress and make it look more natural and here is the finished aged wood look and now we can move on to painting the skewers.
Now these will simply be painted in the solid black color. Now that they are dry, we can go ahead and add them to our frame as desired. to grab the frame and flip it over to the back you just start lining up those skewers with the lines you've marked and then grab the wire cutters and you just want to cut the skewers to the right size so they don't overlap the edges. just put a line of hot glue on each side and press those skewers into place and then just repeat this process with the last two crossed skewers so once everything is in place I'll continue with a little bit of hot glue on those skewers just in case and here's the full frame.
Now you can add your own wreath or you can add that wreath we just made in the center to complete the look and here is the complete project all together. I am so in love with the way these pieces turned out. Now this frame reminds me a lot of old, worn wood and those leaves really look like metal. Now you can attach the wreath to the frame or hang it alone as a hook. like I did, you can change it. I mean, this would be a great idea to change the seasons in your decor and it's so easy to get this detailed wood look.
All you have to do is use some cheap acrylic paints and it will look very realistic. to let me know in the comments where you think is the best place to display this type of decor in your home. Now here is my inspiration piece for this project. I thought this item was so beautiful, but I didn't want to pay $74 for it. So I decided to create my own version using foam board and grabbed some extra dollar tree supplies in my craft stash. Now, for this project we're going to need half a sheet of this white dollar tree foam board, a roll of this.
Dollar Tree Wood Grain Contact Paper. We will also need half a sheet of this black dollar tree foam board. Now the first thing we're going to do is unpack that contact paper and we want to design it with the grain. running horizontally and then I'm going to measure 22 inches which is 2 inches more than the height of the project and then I want to cut it with my x-acto knife or you can use a pair of scissors and then I'm going to curl each end opposite that curling pattern to help it lay flat, so now what I'm going to do is score the back of the contact paper every couple of inches and this is to cut out the blanks now.
If you want to keep this as a single sheet, that's fine, but tables give it a more realistic look. Now, once you mark it, you can carefully cut it with a pair of scissors, but using an x-acto knife will give you the straightest, neatest lines. and here are all your two inch strips, so now I'm going to take that black foam board and I'm going to cut it in half so that the total width of the board is 30 inches, so I'm going to measure it and mark it . and cut it to 15 inches. Now I want to cut it with my x-acto knife and the key to cutting crisp lines is to use a new angled blade, so now I'm going to take those strips and I want to start applying them. to my board so you can see they are longer than the board but that's what you want so the edges can wrap around the edges so once you place that strip along the edge overlap it about half a half inch on the sides and then you want to trim and fold the edges, so now when applying that second strip you want to leave just the smallest space between the strips to give it a more realistic wood plank look and then you want to continue with the strips remaining in the same way. and these are all the strips applied now to reduce that shine and give it a more worn look.
I'm going to go over that contact paper with some sandpaper and I want to lightly sand the entire sheet of the board. Now I wanted to add a little bit of texture and dimension, so I'm going to use this brown and white acrylic paint, so I just want to mix those paints together until I get a light tan color and then I want to take my brush and I want to dry it. color on the board making sure to go in the direction of the grain. Now I am putting very little paint on the brush and this gives a very dry look to your painting.
Now once that dries, I'm going to take my sandpaper and I want to sand and blend that distressing with that sandpaper, so now I'm going to take that white foam board and I'm going to cut it in half at 15 inches like that. like I did with my black foam board. Now this will be the decorative border, so I want to make an inch and a half border around the entire edge of the board. Now originally I wanted to use two inches but I found that an inch and a half looked much better so the next thing I want to do is mark that cross section in the middle now my ruler was a little short to reach from corner to corner so I just took a piece of wood to help align it and drawmy center x now that the lines are marked I'm going to mark three quarters on each side of my marked and done, so now all we have to do is cut the openings with our exact knife now once. everything is cut nicely, you want to carefully remove the four triangular pieces and here is our finished frame so you can sand down the jagged, jagged edges if you want, so now we're going to take our wood plank background and I'm going to place it the white frame right above it now you're going to check the fit.
If the fit is good, all we're going to do is use hot glue to attach the frames and once you're done applying it, make sure it fits properly. Under all those edges you are going to let it sit and dry for a few minutes. Now I wanted to add some distressing light to the white part of the frame so I'm going to use some of this dark brown acrylic paint and I'm just going to lightly mark around some of the edges and now that's done we can add our floral accent , so I'm going to use this little plastic coffee container and just remove the labels and lids and clean it thoroughly.
Now you can also wear a crown and I will link the tutorial in the top right corner of this video and in the description box. If you're interested in doing that, now to apply our container I'm going to use two of these 12 inch ones. zip ties that I bought at the dollar tree now I'm going to make a little slice on each inside corner of that x pattern in the middle and I'm going to start by running both zip ties from the back to the front of the board and then you want to take your container and you want place it in the center and wrap those zip ties around the threads of the container and then run those zip ties back through the back on that other side and then you just flip put it over the top and secure the zip ties on the back and now that's it resistanty instead, all we have to do now is simply add your flowers.
Now I have these bunches of flowers in my stash and there it is beautiful now, since it's quite light, I'm going to add some jute twine with hot glue to the back. and this will hang the entire piece and here is the final project. Can you believe this piece was made from foam board? Now I really like this two-ply design and it gives this piece a lot of dimension and really looks like real wood. These sweet flowers really add a nice pop of color and fit the project perfectly. Now I really love all the wood panel details on this piece and that distressing really makes it stand out.
Y'all gotta let me know in the comments if you think this look hit the mark? I really hope you're all enjoying these crafts so far, but I wanted to jump in real quick and let you know that you can follow me on all these platforms while she's doing it, so now let's jump in. straight to the next DIY now for this project we will need one of these dollar tree glass signs two bags of dollar tree glass marbles in any color we will need a piece of dollar tree foam board and I also need a ping ball -dollar tree pong.
Now to make the arches we will use this template that I created and it is linked in the description box below, so go ahead and print that template and then cut it out. you want to go ahead and grab your foam board and what we're going to do is trace that template onto the board. Now we're going to need 12 of these arches and here are the 12 arches laid out, so now we're going to lay out our cutting mat and we're going to cut all of our arches and we're going to use an Exacto knife to do this.
Now you want to make sure you use a new sharp blade for the smoothest and easiest cuts and here are all of our bows stacked and ready to go so now what you want to do is group them in groups of three and this will make four bows so now we're going to go ahead and take our glue gun and we're going to run a bead of glue over that first bow and then we're going to place a bow on top of it and we're going to press it into place and then we're going to do the same thing and we're going to apply a second bow on top of it. , you need to press them all together so there is a good joint and now you have a triple stacked bow, you want to repeat this with all the pieces and you should have four triple stacked bows ready to go Wow, here I am, I'm just going to go ahead and trim the irregular edges and unevenness.
You want to make sure all the edges are as even as possible for a cleaner look and now that they're all trimmed, we're. I'm going to go ahead and take a sheet of white cardstock and what I want to do is cut it into strips that measure a little over half an inch. Now you can also make cardstock if you don't have cardstock on hand and Now that we have all of our strips, we can go ahead and adhere them to the edge of the foam arches, so what I'm going to do is just grab my glue gun.
I want to apply hot glue along that surface. edge and start applying that strip all over the inside and outside covering all those raw edges of the arch. This should result in a nice clean look all the way around and now once the strips are applied we want to go ahead and trim any overlap you may have and here are all your nice solid arches now if you have any jagged edges left over you can use a sanding block or a piece of sandpaper to smooth them out and now I'm going to move on. and I grab that frame, I'm going to take it out of the packaging and set it aside, so now what we want to do is add the marbles to the arches, so I'm going to go ahead and put them in a container so they don't roll around. all my artboard now, what we're going to do is apply those marbles along the outside spine of the bow, so the first thing we want to do is apply a bead of e6000 along that spine and we want to stop just before the flat edge top and then we want to take our glue gun and we want to apply a dot of hot glue and put it right on top of that e6000 and we want to apply the marbles all the way to the spine and here's what it should look like now when they're all in place apply another dot of hot glue between each marble and this should give you extra security and then repeat that for all the arches, so now we're going to cut out our circles. so we want to take three of those pieces of foam board or your bows and we want to take a compass we want to make circles about three and a half inches wide so go ahead and set up your compass and draw your circle and then I'm going to go ahead and cut them out with the exact knife, now we want to repeat this to make two more circles and now we have our three circles and what we're going to do is hot glue them together and then we're just going to trim the edges so they're even and then when they're even we're just going to we're going to go ahead and apply that strip of cardstock along the raw edge just like we did with our bows and then we're going to grab our ping pong ball and what I want to do is poke a hole in the end with a pin. so it releases the air and you can press the end lightly with your thumb now, once that end is nice and flat, we could continue. go ahead and we're going to apply some hot glue to it and we're going to apply it to the center of that circle and then we're just going to set it aside to dry and now we're going to take our photo frame and we're going to take it off. logo, so we flip it over to the back and I'm going to use this 100 acetone mix to remove it.
We're just going to place this on a cotton pad and as you can see, it dissolves the letters pretty quickly and removes them. do it very easily and set it aside and now that my beads are almost dry, I'm going to go ahead and remove the last bead in the row and this fits into the tray, you don't even have to apply this on first, but I removed it on the last minute because I thought it would fit better on our tray and we're just going to make sure it's dry, so now I'm going to take two of the bows and place one. at each corner and I'm going to join those centers once the centers match up I'm going to go ahead and apply a generous amount of hot glue and connect the two pieces at that center and I want to hold it in place until it's attached and then I'm going to take the other two bows and I'm going to trim about a quarter of an inch off the top edge and this is so they fit against the center bow so now my bow goes through the middle.
It's all good and glued in place, we can go ahead and take that third piece and we're going to determine the location and fit now, since this piece is placed at an angle, we're going to cut that top edge at an angle. just as shown and here's the angled cut and now we're going to apply a generous amount of hot glue and press that third arch into place. Now once that's secure, we're going to turn it over and repeat this for On the other side, I'm going to cut this piece at an angle, get it nice and fit it, sand it if we need to and then we're going to apply that hot glue and secure this in place a once everything is good and adhered.
I'm going to take some pieces of that cardstock, I'm going to fold it in half and I want to glue them to the seams as reinforcement, so then I'm going to take that circular piece and I'm going to apply it. I brought it to the top center of that arch using hot glue and then I'm going to reinforce that connection underneath by applying hot glue to the seams and now that everything is nice and dry we can go ahead and paint now I'll use this plane. krylon white spray paint applying two or three coats to the beads and the ball on top and here it is all nice and painted and dried so now I'm gathering my paint supplies because I'm going to be doing some distressing.
I will use this. white acrylic paint and this pavement gray acrylic paint to do this now I'm going to start using a small brush and I'm going to mix that white and gray until I get the color that I like and then what I want to do is to start applying the distressed to it along the edges of the arch and then what I'm going to do is take my paintbrush and I want to dry brush the paint mixture to give it a worn look. You also want to make sure you wear that circle down. the top and you also want to make sure those beads have a little bit of distress on them as well, so now that's done, we can set it aside to dry, so now we're going to go ahead and grab the frame and we're.
I'm going to distress the edges of the frame the same way again. I'm going to start by distressing the edges around the top and bottom and also making sure that we have those corners as well and then I'm going to go ahead and stress dry the distressed look I'm a dry brush the distressed look there okay so now that's all dry we can add some scrap paper to the bottom and this is just a scrap piece that I printed from my computer, so what? What I'm going to do is cut it to size and I'm just going to tape it to the bottom of the frame so you can change it however you want.
It will be great to change them for all the seeds and seasons that If you like the styles then we just add our frame on top and this project is complete and here is the finished project guys oh my gosh I am so happy with the way that this turned out. I just added some candles and some lamb's ear greenery to my display and wow it makes this arch look wonderful and I love that the arches can be lifted up to make the tray easier to style and access you guys should let me Find out in the comments how they would do it.
Design this tray in your home now for this project, we will start with a dollar tree foam board. Now we're going to lay out that foam board and cut it in half, so let's measure and mark 13 inches from the edge and then I'll draw a line to connect those marks. This will end up being your cutting line and then you will place your cutting mat under the board and just use your ruler to cut a straight line at the mark with an x-acto knife; You want to make sure you have a new blade to get the best sharpest cuts, so once the piece is cut in half, you want to stack that shorter piece on top of the longer piece and then draw that line. cut right into that longer piece and then just cut it to match and now you want to take that extra piece that you have left over and then we're going to make some marks in half inch increments. you want to start at the top of the shorter end and then turn it over and also make half inch increment marks on the other shorter end and now you just take a ruler and you want to draw lines to match those marks and now everything What do you have?
What you have to do is cut all those strips with your x-acto knife. Now you'll end up only using two or three of these strips, but I cut a bunch just in case and once they're cut, you just want to set them up. to the side, so now we want to take one of those foam boards and I'm going to measure an inch and a half from that top short edge. I want to make those marks and I want to draw a line that connects those marks. We also goWe're going to mark the center of the top and we also want to mark the bottom and this is going to be six and a half inches and then we're just going to draw a line that connects those two marks right in the center that I now made. a square template that measures four inches on each side and you can do this with a piece of paper.
Now I'm just going to place my square template and I'm going to put it along the top line and I want it to be half way. one inch from that center line that we just drew and then I'm just going to trace my square on the board and then I'm going to take my ruler and mark that one inch edge on the other side of that center line and then I'm going to take my square and I'm going to draw another square in the same way as the first one. Now for the second row of squares I want them an inch apart, so I'm going to mark, measure and draw a line on that inch, so then I'm going to connect those marks and then make two more squares on that line for a total of four squares and then I'm going to draw a line an inch and a quarter below those last two window squares and then I'm going to measure an inch along the bottom and then I'm going to draw a line and now we can take those half inch strips that we cut and we can work on make the two frames for our door.
Now I want to place that piece. between those two bottom lines that we just marked and I want to mark and cut two pieces that fit right between those two lines and then I want to measure and cut two pieces that fit right between those two long pieces and this will be the top and bottom of that frame and then I'm going to repeat this on the other side and now that all of our pieces are cut out we can use hot glue to secure them in place now we just want to make sure that they're nice and straight and even and the corners are square when gluing them together just make sure Use those lines we drew as guides and you shouldn't have any problems.
We want to make sure all the pieces fit together perfectly and everything. It looks good now, once both sides are ready we can move on to the next step. Now we're going to go ahead and take our cutting mat and we're going to cut out those window squares. Now it's a good idea to use your ruler. those lines when cutting and you'll get the cleanest, most professional look and then once they're all cut you just need to gently press all those squares and this is what it's going to look like now if you have any uneven edges you can sand them gently with some scrap paper. sandpaper or a nail file and now you want to take the second foam board that you cut and we're going to hot glue these two pieces on top of each other, so you just want to run a bead of glue around the entire edge and in between. those panels now, once they're nice and secure in place, I'm just going to take my x-acto knife and I'm going to carefully cut out those window squares and I'm going to use the edges of those first squares as a guide and once they're cut you just want remove those pieces and then sand the edges as needed and now that everything looks good we can move on to painting our piece now.
We're going to use the same cobalt blue acrylic paint now when we apply the paint we want to apply it with long, even strokes and we want to make sure we cover those edges around the frames that you want to put inside the squares and you also want to get the outside of the frame as well and here it is our first layer. Now when that dries, you want to apply a second coat and let the entire frame dry completely and here's our door, ready to hang, I'm just going to cut it out. a piece of jute twine about four or five inches long and then I'm going to put it on the back at the top center and I want to hot glue each end in place and I want to be very generous with that glue now.
Once the glue is dry to the touch, we can add our wreath. Now I made this wreath in a previous DIY and I will link the instructions in the right corner of this video and also in the description box below to decorate our wreath for fall. I will be using these pumpkins with a dollar tree clip. Now all I'm going to do is attach these pumpkins to the wreath. Now I also have these flowers that I cut out from a bouquet that I bought from the dollar tree and I'm I'm going to add them too these add a nice little pop of fall color and I really love them and then I'm just going to add a little bit of hot glue on each one to secure them in place now to hang the wreath on the door I made a hook out of a large clip and clipped it to the back of the wreath and then to the top of the door so I almost forgot that I need a knob for my door, so I'm going to use this wooden ball piece that I had in my stash that I got from Habitat for Humanity, but you can also use these mini dollar tree cauldrons or a dollar tree ball or just use anything you want it to look like a doorknob, so I want to take my doorknob and I want to paint it and I'm going to use this silver spray, not spray paint, it's acrylic paint and I'm going to apply two coats of this acrylic paint to my ball and I want making sure they dry completely between the two coats, so Now that it's dry, we can add it to our door.
Now to secure it, I'm just going to add a few rounds of that hot glue and then secure it in place and then once the glue dries, all we have to do is add our Put the wreath back on and now you can hang your mini door on the wall. Oh my goodness, I am so in love with this creation. Now I think this blue is the perfect color for this and it really stands out, especially with that crown. This wreath is definitely one of my favorites. It's from a Kirklands dupe and fits this project perfectly.
Now all the details of this piece are very easy to achieve and it really makes the final result worth waiting for. Now you can continue like this. all year round just change your dollar tree wreath, easy and useful, and two of these dollar tree trash cans now to make the window you want, print the template provided in the description box below, the Pieces are numbered for easy assembly. Now, to put them together, simply line up the outline of the frames by folding or cutting those white ends and then taping them together as shown here. Now, once you glue these together, we want to turn that template over and apply tape along its length. the seam to make sure it's all secured in place so now I'm going to cut the excess paper along the straight edge of the window frame so now I'm going to lay down my foam board and I want to place that template down.
With that ruler aligned to the edge of that foam board, I'm now also going to fold that white edge onto the bottom of piece 4 and line it up to the bottom of the frame with the edge of the board also once in place. Just secure it with some painter's tape now to transfer the design to the board. I'm going to use the stamping tool that I bought at the dollar tree or you can use the tip of a pen or pencil if you want and that's all you're going to do. What you want to do is go all the way around the flame tracing it lightly so that the indentation transfers to the foam board, so once you've traced it completely, remove the stencil and then we'll turn the foam board over and We will repeat this on the opposite side.
Sideways, two frames can now be made on one piece of foam board. Now I wanted to quickly thank Sabrina's Minecraft for converting my window designs into a printer-friendly version, as well as providing the SVG files for those who have cutting machines. Please be assured. to see it and let you know that I sent you the link is in the description box below, so now with the indentation stroke we're going to trace with a pencil and I'm just going to mark all the corners. and I put marks there as cutting guides and then I lay out my mat and get them ready to cut.
I'm going to grab my ruler and an Exacta knife. You want to make sure it has a new sash and this will ensure you get a super smooth cut and then you're just going to line up the ruler with the marks that you made and you're going to cut out the entire frame so you can then remove all the window inserts and make sure the edges are nice. and trimmed and then All you have to do after that is use a nail file or sandpaper to smooth out any jagged edges that you may have and then you just want to repeat this cutting process with the second frame.
Now I will use the same acrylic paint combination. To distress the frame, you now want to start by adding those random brown accents to both frames and then you want to mix and blend some of that gray and white, making sure to remove that excess and then dry brush it onto the frame. Also, now after completing this step, you want to make sure you wash the brush and then we're going to dry brush white acrylic paint all over and this will blend all your angst and then this thing we want. let them dry well so I originally planned to turn this into a mirror and I wanted to use this peel and stick mirror paper that I bought on Amazon so I applied the paper to a new piece of foam board and removed the plastic covering and I wasn't very impressed with this clarity but I thought I'd go ahead and apply the frames and maybe it would look better once everything was together so what I did was hot glue the frames and then I went ahead and cut them out with My exact knife is fine, so here they are all cut out.
I just wasn't happy with this look so I went ahead and removed the mirror panels by cutting them with my Exacto knife and after cutting them I simply filed down all the edges. so now that we have our double layer frames to start with, I thought I would try incorporating the garden fence into this but it was just a few centimeters too short, that's when I decided to go for a wire look and I didn't have enough. general dollar grill ornaments to make this, but I had two of these white trash cans that I had in my craft stash, so I started by cutting the bottom of the trash can with wire snips and then I went ahead and cut that out. top ring as well so what we want to do is locate the seam of the basket and we want to cut that seam so now once it's cut we want to stretch and even out that wire basket so it's as flat as possible and then we want to take one of our frames and we want to make sure that our stretched basket fits and then once we determine that we are going to apply the wire to the back of our frame with hot glue, I found that using a piece of parchment paper to press the wire into glue is very helpful just be careful because hot glue can be very hot and we just want to repeat this all over the frame until it is finished as you can see with a pair of heavy duty scissors Cut the wire as well so that when you go to trim the edges you can also use this option.
Now I wanted to apply handles to my windows and I printed them on cardstock. Now you can use real handles if you want too. I'll include the template for the handles I used in the description box below. Now we are going to proceed to cut them carefully. Once they are both cut, we simply hot glue them into place and that's it. and there you have it, oh my gosh guys I'm so happy with the way this turned out. I love how the distressed wood looks on this piece and it matches perfectly with the wire backing and those handles, oh my goodness, can't they see them?
Realistically, I think I made a good decision going cable on this one, let me know in the comments if you're team cable or team mirror. Here is my inspiration photo for this project. I've been eyeing this piece for a while and didn't really know how to get that beaded wood look, but if you know me, I'm always up for a challenge and I came up with a method using dollar tree elements. Now for this project, we will need three foam dollar boards. tree and a piece of cardboard that does not appear in the photo, we will need two or three bags of dollar tree marbles.
You'll also need some skewers from the dollar tree or Walmart and we'll need some of these quarter inch irrigation tubes from Home Depot. Now, if you've been following me for a while, you'll remember these shutters I made. I will now use the same template for this new project along with one additional modification. Now, if you are also interested in making these shutters, the DIY will be linked in the top right corner of this video and also in the description box below. Now the first thing we're going to do is print and we want to assemble this template.
It is now available in the description box below. Assemble the pieces in the order as seen here and we'll just use some masking tape. We will now modify the top of this piece and I have outlined a template that you can easily add with the guides provided now. You want to place it on top of your frame template and you want to line up the marks and then just tape it into place. Now we need to cut this piece right here because it is an extension of the outer round edge that we will be attaching. We're just going to fold it along the dotted line and we want to attach those triangles on that main piece and then tape it in place and now we can just cut out the template and now that our template is ready, we're just going to Take a piece of board of foam, now we're going to place that template when we want to make sure we line up the bottom, outside corner with the bottom corner of the foam board and then we're just going to tape it into place.
With some painter's tape now, before I trace this out, I'm just going to take the tape off, roll it up and put it under the stencil so it's out of the way and then I'm going to take my ruler and I want to mark the center. from the top and then I'm going to start tracing the arc onto the foam board and then I'm going to mark the bottom center as well so we know the location on the other side, so now I'm just going to peel and remove. That template I want to turn upside down and line it up on the other side, we want to make sure it lines up with those center marks, then just press it and tape it in place and then we can trace the other side of the arch and the side , so now we have the full frame laid out on the board and we can cut it out.
Now we want to make sure you have your cutting mat for this and grab your ruler and your x-acto knife now I can't. Put enough emphasis on this by having a new blade and your x-acto knife will give you cuts as smooth as butter, so I highly recommend that you use a new blade, so now you need to start cutting the frame carefully and you want take out that sheet. In one continuous motion, you want to make sure to use your ruler for all cuts that are straight, so now we're going to need a two inch edge for our frame, so I'm going to go around the piece marking two inches from the edge. and now I'm taking my ruler and I'm just connecting all my dots to make sure the ruler is used on all the straight edges and then you can start cutting the inside of your frame with your ruler and exact knife just make sure you take your time, especially around the arches because you want to make sure it's a nice clean cut and then you can carefully remove the insert you have the first layer of the frame so now we're going to grab that second foam board and we're going to place our frame on top .
I'm going to turn the frame over and I want to apply hot glue to the frame and then I'm going to apply it to that foam board. you want to make sure that when you apply the glue you want to line it up with the corner of the edge of the second board and then I'm going to take my x-acto knife and we're going to cut the frame out of that second board and we're going to use our ruler to help us and we're also going to cut around those curves and then once the inside is cut, we want to carefully remove the outside edges as well and now we have a double layer board.
I want the frame to be extra sturdy, so I'm going to add a third board and do everything again the same way. Here is our triple thickness frame that we will be working with today. Now I wanted to cover and finish. I removed those raw edges, so I'm going to cut strips of this cardstock about a half inch wide a little bit longer and I want to cover the inside and outside edges. Now you want to make sure you measure the thickness of your frame so I know the exact size that will fit your piece, I'm just going to make marks and then I'm going to take my ruler, draw my lines and then cut them out with a ruler. and my x-acto knife and you will need about six strips for this project so now we can start applying the strips to the frame.
Now I'm going to apply the matte side of the cardstock to the outside and inside edges of the frame. Now I like to start in one corner, so I'm just going to apply a little bit of hot glue there and I'm going to apply the corner of the strip and then I'm going to start applying another bead of hot glue five or six inches at a time and I want to run that strip making sure it's nice and even along the edge now once you've finished the outside you can apply the strips to the inside and here they are all applied inside and out and I guarantee this will give you It's going to give a nice, clean, smooth finish, so now What I'm going to do is mark a line down the center of the frame all the way around.
Once you make your marks, you want to connect the line and this is how it should look every way. the frame, then what we need to do is take our exact knife. We need to make a cut about an eighth of an inch on either side of that center line. Now you just want to cut the top layer of the foam board and then we want to take something with a rounded end like the end of a marker and press along that center line where you made the cuts and this will create a well that will hold the beads when you apply them around your frame. and this is what the pit will look like across the frame, so now we want to take those marbles and we also want to take our e6000.
Now I'm going to start by applying a little bit of that e6000 into that well and then I want to To apply the marbles, add some hot glue for an instant fix and here are all the marbles attached now to add a little extra security. I will add hot glue between my marbles to control oozing and spilling. I'm going to apply a piece of painter's tape along the edge of the marble where I plan to glue and then I'm going to apply hot glue between those marbles and after I do that, I'm going to immediately remove that tape. and we're going to repeat this on the other sides and now once the hot glue dries, just dust it off and remove all those hot glue webs.
Now I'm going to prime my marbles with this denser 123 primer. I love this primer because it has absolutely the most coverage ever and dries very quickly, so while it dries you can work on prepping the tubes. I drew a layout of how they will be spaced, now the center tubes will be right in the middle and that will be about seven and three quarters inches from the inside edge. Now the two tubes along the front will be about eight inches away from the bottom inside edge. Now for this arched tube, it will be placed with a three inch gap from the inside edge of the frame. and for these two tubes I will call them antenna tubes, they will be placed halfway between each side of the arch at the five and a half inch mark, so now that you have all the dimensions, you can copy this onto your cutouts and use it as a guide , so now we can just cut the tube and we'll start with the two pieces in the front.
Now you just need to make sure you cut all the pieces with at least an extra inch on each end so you can adhere them. to the frame and then the next piece to be cut is the center piece. Now we won't need a piece for this part, so I'm going to make it disappear and there we go, so now we could cut those two antenna pieces at the top and now we're going to make the arc, so we're going to take a long piece of that tube to make the arch, so once we know where the middle is going to be, we just want to bend and bend that tube in the center. and we just want to make sure that those tails are long enough where they go on the board and we can cut them to fit later, so now that our frame is dry we can start adding our color now, I actually think it shows.
Great in white too, so I want to go with a wood look as our inspiration piece, so I'm going to protect my work surface now. Today I'm trying this vintage Waverly wax. I have never used this product, but I am excited to try it now. I'm going to start using it on my chip brush and applying the product to the frame. Now I started to apply it quite lightly, as you can see, I was probably a little afraid. I wanted to use it, but once I got used to the consistency I started playing with it a little and was applying some texture and grains with my brush.
I really like it now, once the face of that frame is covered, we're going to come in with a softer brush and I'm going to apply the antique wax to the top and sides of the marbles. Now, after applying it to some of the marbles, I'll just dust it lightly with a cloth for a while. more worn look now, once the entire face of the frame is finished, we can start working on the sides of the frame and we're just going to apply a coat of that wax on the side. Now for the aged look we will use this black. acrylic paint and we will use this on the base and between some of the marbles.
Now I'm going to use a small, firm brush and I'm going to apply the black paint to the base along the edges of the marbles and This part is usually white so you'll know where to put it and then I'm going to apply a little bit of that black color to along the marbles and I'm going to come in with the chip brush behind me and fade. and blend it now, this gives it a really warm look. Now I'm also going to repeat this for the inside of the marbles. Now both sides are cohesive and here is our rustic bead frame, so now we just let this sit. completely dry now, once the frame is dry, we're going to take the insert that we drew the measurements on and we're going to place that frame right side down, right on top of it and we want to line it up and copy the marks on the part back of our frame now this will give us a guide on where we're going to place our tubes, so we'll start by applying the two pieces that cross the front first to help keep these tubes nice and straight.
I'm going to insert these skewers now so they are longer and fit. I'm just going to tape the flat ends of the skewers together and then trim all the pointy ends to whatever we want. to straighten that tube as much as possible and then we can insert one of those skewers into the tube. Now it's going to be a little long, but we can go ahead and trim all the excess to match the length and now that's all we do. It's adding a little bit of hot glue to the marks that we made and we can apply those tubes in place.
Now you want to make sure you hold them in place for about 30 seconds until the glue really sets in and then we're going to prime and apply. that second one right in front the same way now as you apply them you want to take occasional measurements just to make sure everything is spaced out nicely so now I'm going to prep those arched tubes and I'm going to I'm going to put a skewer on each end and then I'm just going to trim off the excess skewer and then I'm going to line it up into a piece that goes along with my template.
Now when I adhere it in place, I'm going to start by applying it to the top rail first and then I'm going to put two dots of glue and put it in place and then I'm going to apply hot glue to the bottom rail and press it into place like okay and then on the bottom We'll trim it to the right size to fit and then add hot glue along the bottom and adhere the ends to the frame. Now, as you apply them, you can add tape to hold the ends in place while the glue dries if necessary, so now we're going to add the little short stick to the top, in the center of the frame and then we're going to add the bottom of the center piece and now we're going to add those two antenna pieces, but first I'm going to trim the top edge of the center piece that we just applied because we want to make sure those antenna pieces fit nicely right next to each other, so I'm just going to apply each one. one of those antenna pieces in place from the center out at that 5.5 inch mark on each side now to hang each piece I took some thick jute twine and tied a double knot on each end and attached it to the frame with plenty of hot glue on each end now I'm just going to remove all the nets from the hot glue gun.
I'm going to double check to make sure everything is secure and now this piece is ready to display so now you can hang your creation I'm so in love with how this piece turned out now I think the finish turned out amazing and I'm really impressed how well That old wax worked on this project and of course that tube always looks great and it's a lot of fun to work with now, you'd never know it was marbles and foam boards at first glance and that wood look really comes through in this piece. I think this piece has a lot of detail and is definitely worth all the effort, let me know in the comment if you think this dollar tree frame looks like the 80's inspired piece, this project will need a pack of these Stir Sticks five gallons a piece of dollar tree foam cardboard, we will also need a piece of black foam or black cardboard. boxwood vegetation and six falling tower blocks so the first thing we're going to do is take our five gallon stirring rods and I want to measure and mark a cut line about 17 inches and then I'm just going to cut this with my I saw so after cutting I'm going to remove one of the sticks and I want to mark it at the center point and it ended up being eight and a half inches and I want to cut it in half as well and now I'm going to go ahead and prepare the dye so I'm gathering my supplies and using my medium wax dyed jacobian.
Now for this I'm going to apply the dye to both sides of the stick, including the printed side, we want to make sure it takes the sides and the ends as well andonce they are all dyed, set them aside to dry. Now for my lettering I'm going to use this free template that I've linked below in the description box for you to use. I'm also going to use this foam sheet to trace and cut out my letters. Now you can use cardstock if you don't have a foam sheet, so I'm going to cut out the letters from the printer paper and then I'm going to glue them to that foam sheet with printer tape.
Now I'm going to use greenery for my oh, so I'm not going to cut the o for this project, but you can do it if you want and once. taped together, I'm just going to cut out those letters and I want to just put them to the side once they're all cut out and now that the paint sticks are dry we can assemble the frame so now the printed side is on the inside of the frame and looking down and we're just going to give it a rectangular shape and once our shape is in place, we're going to adhere it with this dollar tree wood glue.
Now I want to apply the glue to both ends of the long stick at the top and bottom of the frame. Now I'm going to use this tension clamp and I'm going to put it in the center just to hold it in place while I apply a staple to each corner and this. I will add additional support while the glue dries. Now I want to grab that foam board. I want to place my wooden frame right on top of it. I'm going to take a pencil and I want to trace the inside shape with that pencil and then just sit down carefully. set your frame aside while it dries and place our board back in and we can cut that board using our exact knife and a straight edge ruler, so once the board is all cut we want to make lines along the board dividing it into four even sections, so I want to make marks on each end dividing them into four equal sections and then draw a line with my pencil marking those lines and then I'm going to take a marker and I want to trace those lines by hand now I wanted this to look like an overlap, like this I'm going to dry brush this white acrylic paint over the lines so it looks a little more natural.
Now, once everything is dry, we can apply our lettering. Now I'm just going to place them. evenly and then once they're right where you want them, I'm going to apply hot glue to the back of each letter and apply it in place and then I'm going to grab that greenery and I want to pull some pieces of the stem and then I'm going to take them and I will stick it on the board in the shape of the letter o. Now, as you apply, you want to make sure you overlap and trim the pieces. As you go along and here's the first round, now I'm going to add a second round to make it a little bit fuller.
Now as a final touch, I'm going to add this little bow to the top of the o and now. We're going to take our frame and we're going to apply those rotating blocks. We are going to apply two of the blocks to the long inside sides and one to the short inside sides and we are going to use hot glue to apply them now to permanently secure the frame signs, place hot glue on top of the blocks and then press the board into place. place. Now I wanted mine to be interchangeable so I'm just going to press it snugly into place against the blocks without any glue and now you can see you don't see any of those marks on the front you can just see them from the back and here is the finished project , how cute is this house sign, I think the overlapping look and the black lettering are great together and this really makes it look high end and I love the classic wreath for the or on this piece.
