More Interesting Facts About,

We've been searching for three weeks to find some of his furniture and finally found some shelves, but they're just there. It's not exactly the aesthetic I was expecting for his office, very similar to a lot of used furniture we found on Facebook Marketplace, it just needs a little updating, so I'll transform them to this, let's go to step one and here. It is the first cleaning step. I'm going to take my plain green, which is diluted a little bit with water in a spray bottle and my rags here, and we're going to clean all these shelves and kind of take them apart. all to get ready to sand the exterior a couple of little brackets behind it are a little loose so before we continue I'm going to go ahead and tighten them up when you're cleaning it's a good time to evaluate. the piece a little bit, figure out what repairs you're going to have to do and different things like that, and so I went ahead and started there so I don't forget about it later and now I'm going to rinse the cleaner off. which I just used in case there's any weird residue left, okay, everything's clean, so we're going to go ahead and sand it down so we can roughen up the surface and get the primer to adhere, so I'm going to use my prep sander for surfing and I have a 120 grit to roughen up that surface just like I said and if you're interested in learning more about sandpaper grits check out the link in the description and we have a whole course on that and I'm going to be sanding a lot more because there's a lot of surface area to cover and I'm also going to be wearing my RZ mask, although I'm hooked up to my dust extractor vacuum, which will help mitigate a lot of that dust. in the air, if you are interested in any product, it will also be linked Below in the description.

I want to clarify that these shelves have like a

laminate

or some kind of sticker basically to help them look a little better, but it's I also smoothed out a lot the material they are made of is

particle

board

so I want to be very careful not to break this sticker, but I just want to give it a roughness so the primer will adhere well because right now if I sprayed with primer it would most likely scratch so that's why I'm sanding just for that adhesion purpose. That will be a perfect place for my sander. The entire vacuum was installed right there because Neiman always gets mad at me for leaving.

Leave it like this so you can put it away now that we have everything sanded, we are going to go ahead and clean up the dust that was created, most of it was absorbed by the vacuum but there is still some residue left and it is important that you clean it so that it does not remain under the primer and paint and make a mess all over and it won't allow it to adhere very well either, so I usually use a microfiber cloth, I don't have them here yet, we are in between places, so another option is to just grab a rag, the same that I cleaned with, and wet it a little bit, that way it has the ability to just grab all that dust while you're cleaning if you want to know why I cleaned and then sanded and then I have to clean again, the reason is because you don't want to polish that oil and grease on the surface, so you need to clean it before sanding and potentially grinding it, which could really affect the adhesion of the primer or paint you're going to use, so that's an important thing to remember. that you need to clean before you sand, okay, it's time to prime, it's prime time, so today I'm going to spray the primer, but not in my spray gun.
In fact, I'm going to use spray primer. I'm using the dart

board

. one, two, three zins are primer, it's water based, but it also helps a lot with bonding, which is very important with this slippery

laminate

surface, so I also took the gray because the color I'm choosing is a more dark so I thought why not go a little darker and then a little darker as I go instead of going bright white so know that that is an option when you are looking for primers. I'm going to have my respirator on so I can't inhale all the fumes, but we've got our setup up and running.
I have four cans and I hope that's not enough. They were about eight dollars a can, so it's a little more expensive than, say. Primer cans that you can apply with a roller, brush, or spray with your spray gun, but sometimes the convenience is worth a little extra money. Success overseas and I only had to use three of those four cans I bought, so we're. At about what twenty-four dollars so far with the primer, so it's not bad at all, so I'm going to let the primer dry a little bit and then we'll go back and smooth it out.
I went ahead and did the sanding. between the primer and the paint off camera, but everything is smoothed out and ready to go, we just have to load my spray gun with the paint and since these are going to the Neiman office, he obviously has to choose the color, so we went to a local place called The Robin's Nest in Springfield, Nebraska, and they have Fusion mineral paint for sale there, so we took the color Bayberry, which is this beautiful olive green, kind of a military olive green, and I think it's going to be perfect for these shelves I took. two cans because there is a lot of shelf space and I just wanted to make sure I was going to have enough.
This paint is pretty thin, so I'm going to go ahead and load it into my spray gun. without putting water in to dilute it or dilute it at the beginning and I'm going to try my sprayer and if I think it needs a little bit of water I'll put it in but I don't want to dilute it too much at the beginning. bat, I have my strainer here because I don't want any kind of bits getting into the container and then clogging up my spray gun. I always recommend that you strain the paint if you're using a sprayer and I'm just going to go ahead and pour this whole can right there, like I said, it's very thin so this will work just fine.
Now we're going to test the spray gun to make sure it's flowing properly and then we're going to start spraying the shelves with the same respirator mask that I used for the spray primer and then this is my Wagner sprayer. I'll link a similar model below in the description, super cheap option to spray and works great. alien thank you okay the shelves alien it's time for honesty time here at FFT guys I'm not perfect and I still make mistakes and we learn from our mistakes so I want to share this mistake with you so you can learn from my mistakes. and you don't make the same mistake, the mistake I made was that I had my gun pressure too high when the paint I was using was very thin, so because fusion mineral paint has a thinner consistency than what I'm used to to use Dixie Bell chalk paint or Lily Moon paint.
I had my settings higher so I could get the paint out faster and smoother and I adjusted my settings a little bit, but I feel like I just didn't. I didn't do it enough and with that being said, I ended up consuming two whole pints of um, yes, this is a pint, I'm pretty sure, yes, of Bayberry, so I had to run to the store and buy one more thing. and I hope this is enough to have the correct configuration. I tried everything yesterday with spray, but you still know you put a lot of paint in there, so I'm not going to stress it enough or I'll never be able to stress enough that it's so important to make sure you continue to test your spray pattern.
I thought mine was good, but it was getting too much paint out, so hopefully this will be enough for the shelves and and I'm going to reload this, turn off the spray gun and we'll go from there. I don't know, nothing can hurt me. I still have a lot of paint left, which is great because I still have six shelves that I have to spray, so my method worked, turning it down a bit really helped me save on the amount of paint coming out, but it didn't work well here. The finished pieces are these shelves. It's actually my first time making shelves now that I think about it, but I think it totally elevated the look of these.
I mean, they had that lawyer look. I don't know, that executive office look to them and I really just wanted to, I mean, I know that's a unique thing, but we wanted to

upgrade

them, they really looked cheap, so by

painting

them with this green paint I feel like I really enhanced them and just made them look a lot more expensive. I think we're around 300 inches with the cost of the shelves and then the actual cost of the materials. I totally agree with that. I love the way they look, but we have to get a stamp. approval from the person I turned them for, so let's bring them in and see what they think.
They look good. I love that green. That green turned out exactly how I wanted it to be. The finish is very smooth. What is this done for? make a living or something this is probably the best it will ever look so thanks and I'll try to keep it this nice but no promises I forgot I even had half of these cameras these don't even look like the ones same shelves. I went from wanting to be a lawyer to now being creative, so I like how the desk works with the green, for sure. What's bothering me now is just the walls, so I'll try to cover most of the walls. with whiteboards with art with whatever catches my eye when I find it, we'll put some plants on there, like these little ones, oh I thought there was a hook there, but we'll also try to hook some plants from the ceiling. but all this is really going well.
I might put a dresser somewhere in this corner so that way I have storage for some of this stuff because I have a lot more books that we'll end up putting in there. The Physybo desktop looks good. I've also been using this the last few days and yes it's the only harp I have and to be honest with you I guess I have extra greasy fingers but just touching the texture of this there are fingerprints all over it but I I lean on it I sit on it it's nice and sturdy there are plenty of shelves so thanks to physibo once again for sending us this beautiful desk I'm definitely going to break up with this bad boy and take my fair share Out of this but thanks again honey , for flipping those shelves for me, they look great, okay, awesome, we got the seal of approval.
I was a little nervous because he is usually my most demanding client, but I love him for it because I want to. I make sure all my pieces come out with the best quality possible. Thank you all so much for watching. I hope this really enlightens you and shows you that it's not always necessary to buy new furniture. Do not look. For a green shelving online or in any store we can buy like new, but I know they are perfect for what we needed.
