Now we're going to need two of these larger frosted vases from Dollar Tree and I found them in the glassware section. Now to what we go. What we need to do is divide this in half because these are going to be a two tone vase, so I'm taking my ruler and I'm measuring from the bottom five inches, so I'm just going to go around each one. of the vases that mark a mark at the five inch mark on the outside we are going to tape them down and I love using duct tape for all my round vases it just works better now I wanted to spray paint them so to avoid the overspray.

I'm going to protect the bottom half of the vase, so I just cut a piece of craft paper and I'm going to start wrapping it around the vase and I'm also going to use my electrical tape at the same time to make both sides of the vase. The electrical tape will cover the craft paper and the vase along the line we marked earlier. Now once you get to the end you may have to crumple the paper a little as this is a round shape, you just want to make sure the tape stays really nice and even and then wrap it around until everything is secured in place. place.

Now for all the extras just wrap it up, crumple it up and secure it to the vase and then you can just wrap it around with some tape to make sure everything stays in place now you want to repeat this for your other vase and here they are both wrapped and ready to use and I'm going to take it out and give it two coats of Krylon Foreign satin black spray paint, so here are the vases after about an hour and a half, they're nice and dry, so you can start removing the craft paper now, as you can see when you start to remove the tape it left a clean crisp line, that's what I really love using electrical tape for my spray painting projects now here are both vases all nice and finished with the top coat, so now let's start working on the

decor

ative wood grain design.

Place one of your vases and grab your antique Waverly wax and this. is what we will use to make our wood grain now. I always like to use a chip brush or a natural brush or a brush that you can get at Dollar Tree and I love using those types of brushes to give a really good wood grain. lines on my project, so I'm going to start applying the old wax in a downward motion and I'm cutting out the top area where it meets the black. It's okay if it overlaps a little because it cleans up pretty easily, but once.
When you fill in that space, you just want to keep going up and down with even strokes around the vase until you get the wood grain texture you're

look

ing for now. If you want little knots, you can take another brush and make little swirls and you can actually blend them together and that really gives your wood a really natural natural texture in your vase. It

look

s weird after I was done and now all you have to do is adjust, take your wipe and go along the top edge of where you painted. and you added wax to clean up any excess left on the black paint and now you're going to want this to dry while you work on the other one and here they are, they're ready to go so let them dry completely for a few minutes. hours and now that they are dry here is what they look like.
I think they turned out really good and now for the fun part of decorating. I think these vases turned out amazing and I think this satin black paint with a rich texture. of antique wax looks amazing for your project and really gives these pieces a

high

-end look. I love how you can see all the amazing textures with those brushes and I love the smooth finish of the satin black spray paint that everyone has now. to let me know what you think of this project in the comments below. Now this project is a pair of metal cage sconces.
Now we're going to need another one of these natural finish signs from Dollar Tree and we're going to need two. of these geometric shaped metal cage pieces from the Dollar Tree in the decorating section and we are also going to need two four inch pieces cut from a wooden garden stake that I bought from Dollar General for a

dollar

or you can assemble one piece like this. with falling tower blocks, now what we're going to do is start with our little sign and we need to cut it out, so I'm going to take my utility knife and first I'm going to cut that decorative cut at the top. finish off this piece so that we have a solid board to work with, so now what I want to do is mark the center of the rest of this board and I'm going to divide it in half once I divide it in half. medium, I'm just going to cut it with my knife a few times and make sure those edges are nice and trim, even if one piece is longer than the other, go ahead and mark it and then trim off all the little excess.
So now we have two nice uniform tables to work with for our project. The next thing we're going to do is mark about an inch and a half from the top and then we want to make sure that that point is in the center, so I'm making sure that's right and Centra putting one more mark there, making sure I know that this is exactly in the center so that our project hangs correctly. Now we're going to need to drill a hole through these pieces so I'm going to go ahead and stack both pieces together making sure the edges are lined up and then I'm going to take my drill.
I think I have a 7 64 inch drill bit in my drill here and I'm going to drill both boards at once just making sure that hole goes through both pieces and now we have the hole in the same place on both boards so now let's get to work with those little four inch wooden stakes or if you assemble these falling tower blocks we're going to work with them as well, what we're going to do is drill a hole in the center of one end of that we're also going to go down maybe about three quarters of an inch with our drill bit and here are our two pieces with the hole in the end, so now that we have our two wooden boards, we're going to flip them over to the back and I'll go ahead and add the hangers first.
I'm starting to add embellishments, so what I'm going to do is cut a piece of juice wine with knots on each end and I'm going to place it between the hole and the top edge on the back of the board now to secure. Instead, I'm using a lot of that hot wood glue. You just want to make sure you put the knot of that jute twine in the center of that hot glue and put some hot glue on top of the knot now. I'm just using my thumbnail to stretch it out and make sure it dries really taut and then I'm going to take a couple of pieces of craft paper and cover those knots.
I think this gives it a really finished touch. It looks very professional on the back so I love covering them and it also adds a little more reinforcement. Now this is what it looks like, just repeat this for the other board until both boards have the hanging rope secured in place, so Now that's done, we're ready to go ahead and stain our wood pieces, so I'll use again my old Waverly wax with a little bit of water to thin out the mixture, so with a damp towel I'm just going to Go ahead and take a little bit of that wax and I want to apply it evenly to the top of the boards.
You want to make sure you get all of the top and those edges as well. Now let's repeat this for both. boards until they're nice and stained and here they are with a nice even coat of that old wax. Now just let them sit so they can dry completely and now we're going to go ahead and I'm going to paint those wood pieces and I'm just going to use a little bit of black acrylic paint for this. This piece will have a black accent, so all we're going to do is paint the entire piece on these two four-inch pieces of wood.
We'll make sure we have all sides. including the ends and the end with the hole drilled does not need to be painted, but we want to make sure that all the other edges have a good coat of this foreign black acrylic paint, let them dry completely and well, all of our pieces are now dry and We can start working on the assembly. What I'm also going to use for this four inch piece are these little hooks. They are now called small plant hooks. You can get them at any hardware store. They are quite pretty. Inexpensive, you can get them in a pack of 10 for maybe a couple of

dollar

s, but I will be using it to hold our plaid pieces, so I will be purchasing some of them now for our wood pieces.
Let's mark one. inch of The Edge that doesn't have the screw hole on the end, we want to make a small mark with our pencil. Now the purpose of adding the mark to both pieces an inch down is to make a small pilot hole to place those plants. The hooks on this steak wood are a harder wood so we need to make a little pilot hole to keep it from splitting when we add our odd hooks so now that we have that mark I'm going to grab my drill now I'm just going to To drill about halfway through, you want to put it on a board and not hold it like I did, but you definitely want to be careful when doing this, do it on a board and just drill halfway through each of these pieces, now all we have to do do.
What we need to do is take our little plant hooks and just hand screw them into that little pilot hole, now they should go in pretty easily and this is what it should look like. Let's repeat that for the other one and now we have both. pieces with our hooks in place, so to attach our little set of hooks to our boards, I'm now going to use some number six one inch wood screws to attach it to the board. Now you want to make sure the hole lines up on each piece. What you want to do is start applying the screw through the back of the board first where it just lines up or just peeks out over the edge and therefore you can line up the holes much easier, but I'm just eyeballing it here to make sure.
Those holes are lined up, but that would be the easiest way to put the screw in just a little bit. Now this hot glue here is just to temporarily hold it in place until everything lines up. Now, once it's aligned, you can take the screw. and screw it through the back of the board and through the entire piece of wood in the front. This will make everything super secure with the screw and you won't have to worry about it breaking just by using hot water. glue so now here are our two pieces with our little hangers all set up and ready to go so now let's take our geometric pieces.
I chose this design because I thought it was the most unique and fun, but they have these. in circle Styles Diamond Styles There are so many different styles you can choose from and they will all work for this project now as you can see these hang perfectly from those hooks guys they hang slightly but you can add them for a unique look now. to decorate them, you can leave them as is or I will add some fake succulents. You can even add some votive candles or candle-powered tea lights for a touch of light. There are many different ways to decorate them, but up to you.
It's all up to you and what you prefer for your space, just make it yours now here is the version with the small tea light, if you want to place the small tea light there, the bottom edge will place that small tea light, the small metal. The rings will keep it in place while it's hanging and oh my goodness you guys are good here's how amazing these turned out. Now this simple

modern

piece has clean lines and reminds me so much of a modern industrial style decor piece and it's so hard to believe. They were created from Dollar Tree items but they look very sophisticated.
I hope you give this a really

easy

project to try. Now this project is a set of modern style vases so we're going to need two of these spray bottles from Dollar General and these are only a dollar a piece now Juan was missing the sprayer so I bought it for 50 cents so what I'm going to do is first go ahead and remove the spray that's left there and then you definitely want to be removing all the labels on the bottom because eventually they're going to be painted on and I'm going to give them a good clean.
Now I'm going to paint them with this Krylon Fusion satin black spray paint andI'm going to give a couple. of layers and let it dry completely, so after they have dried, here are the vase pieces. I think they turned out amazing and the paint looked great on them, so I'm going to embellish them a little. using some jute twine and also some of these brown beads and I bought these brown beads from Walmart during the Christmas sale. Walmart sells bead garlands at Christmas and when it went on clearance I bought several of them and cut them up just to use the beads.
We're going to start working with the jute twine because we're going to put the beads on the jute twine, so to start I'm just going to cut a nice long piece of that jute twine and I'm going to go ahead and just first tie a knot at the end. . Now, once the knot is done, we will start with our beads and I will use the help of one of these little plastic thread needles that I have on hand. Get them at any craft store and I always have them on hand in my

crafts

and in my sewing room so I'll go ahead and thread the jute twine through that little needle and this makes it easier to insert the beads. in the thread.
Now we're only going to feed about six beads. That's the happy number for me. You can do more or less if you want because I have three beads hanging on each end of this strand, so six beads is the amount I placed here, so now what I'm going to do is make sure the end is really tight and then I am going to start. wrapping that jute twine around the neck of the vase about three times just to see how long I want it and then once you decide how long you want it you can cut the twine, tie the ends and now you have beads on each end and we'll go Repeat this for a second piece so you have one for each base and now you can start adding them.
When you wrap this, you just want to wrap it around those threads and I like to tie it in a double release knot just to make sure they stay nice and secure and I like my beads to hang at different lengths. I just think it gives it more visual appeal and then you'll repeat it for the second side and this is what The two vase pieces will look like with their beaded details now to embellish them with greenery. These are plastic, so you can definitely use real plants, but I'm going to put a couple of these olive branch stems that I bought at Dollar General for just a dollar and I'm going to place one on each of these faces and it gives it the perfect accent.
I love how they look and now I have placed them on display and they look so beautiful in my space now these olive branches combined with the black finish on these faces look really great and the bead accent really brings the whole look together. I love this look. Now you can definitely remove or rotate the beads back if you just want to enjoy the satin finish of the vases. Well, Foreign T was super

easy

and I hope you all try it. This project is a set of modern vases. Now we're going to need two of these bat sets from the Dollar Tree, so the first thing we're going to do is.
We are going to remove all the bats from the net and we are going to place the balls to the side. We will not use them in this project. Now the first thing I decided to do with one of them is create a design and I want a diagonal design so to help with my diagonal shape I'm using a rubber band; using the elastic band it sticks to the bat and stays in place, it works better than the string and then once I get it in place I'm going to outline it with my little acrylic marker just so I know where I need to cut it now.
I just took that rubber band off and it stained my line a little bit, but I'm going back. over it to make sure I can see where my cut line will be. Now I'm wiping away the little spots with a damp cloth and just to make sure everything is nice and neat, so here's my little diagonal line and it looks perfect. I like it. The way this turned out now to cut this, you can use a utility knife to cut it, it will easily cut through this plastic from Dollar Tree, but I'm going to use my hot knife now if you guys don't have a hot one. knife in your craft arsenal definitely get one.
I love using this, there are only about 14 or 15 on Amazon and I will link it in the description box below so I am using my hot knife to cut the plastic, it really cuts. quick and easy and I'm just going to remove the part that I cut off and now I have my beautiful diagonal design so it's easy to go back over with the hot knife to trim off any of the chips that were left or any of the little bits to make sure that everything is fine and still, here's my little diagonal base design, all clean and ready to go, and we're going to clean up that top too.
I was originally going to discard it, but I think I can also make another small, simple vase with this piece. Now for this third vase, I'm simply going to cut it right where the bottleneck starts to form and this will create a unique and modern style vase. I've seen a few of these on

high

end websites. I love this design too, so now we have a group of three so my middle vase can stand on its own. I'm going to add one of these little bowls from the Dollar Tree. Comes in a small party section in a six pack.
I'm going to add this to the bottom of that little piece and this will create a stand for that vase. Now to adhere it, you can use E6000 or any other very strong glue. For this project I'm just going to use my high temperature hot glue. I'm going to add it to the bottom of that bat piece and then I'm going to glue it right on top of the bottom of the bowl which will create the stand and now you have a nice joint between the two pieces to make it one solid piece so all of my vase pieces are together.
What I'm going to do is start preparing them for painting, so I'm taking some 150 grit sandpaper and I'm going to start sanding the vases. You don't want to sand too hard. I really want to scrape the surface lightly so that the paint I use gives a nice smooth coat. Now that the paint I'm using is compatible with plastic, but sanding a little bit always helps it adhere a little better and you want to sand all your vases and then once they're all sanded well, wipe them down with a cloth with alcohol . I take everything away from them. sanding dust and it just gives you a nice, clean, lint-free finish when you wipe them all down and now that they're all clean I'm going to take them out and give them a couple of coats of this satin black spray paint.
Krylon now after drying for about two hours here are the vase pieces, the finish turned out amazing. They really look very luxurious. I really love how they turned out, so now all you have to do is decorate them and here they are. My vases are decorated with a variety of greenery and I love how they turned out and I really think that satin paint gives them the perfect finish and they really look like ceramic or even a pottery style, now of course you can. Just group them together or you can separate them in any way. You have three beautiful designs to choose from for your space.
Let me know what you think of this project in the comments below. I really hope everyone is enjoying these

crafts

so far, but I wanted to jump in real quick and let everyone know that you can follow me on all of these platforms since she's such a crafter, Dee, so now let's jump right into the next DIY. Now this project is a three tier plant stand, it is a display shelf. I'm going to need three of these big pit bulls from the Dollar Tree. I'm going to need a piece of 1x2 lumber from Lowe's that currently costs $98.
Now the first thing we're going to do is cut the piece of wood into three pieces and we're going to cut them to 23 inches and you can use the saw of your choice or ask the

home

improvement store to cut them for you, so Now that they're cut we're going to go ahead and dye them now. for a quick stain I'm going to use Waverly Antique Wax, but you can use any paint or stain you want so I'm just going to apply the wax to each of the pieces making sure to apply each side. I'm just going to wipe off all the excess wax to help it dry faster and remove any excess wax buildup.
Now we're going to do this on all sides of the piece of wood and here is the piece, all pretty. and dyed now we're just going to repeat this for our other two pieces and once they're dyed we're going to give them time to dry so while they're drying we're going to go ahead and take those pet bowls and get them ready for our shelf so We need to divide this into three equal sections, so what I did was cut strips of printer paper and stitched them together into one strip that would wrap evenly around the bowl and then I folded that strip into three equal sections.
Now this will give me the perfect division of three sections so we can mark it, so I'm going to quickly mark it with a white chalk pen, so what I'm going to do is I'm going to wrap my strip around and join the ends together and once. the ends are attached, you can see where those folds are and I'm just going to mark the top shelf of the pitbull with my little chalk marker on each of those folds and where those pieces meet and now you see you have three of the same. sections now I'm also going to mark the side of the bowl to make sure all the other bowls are marked exactly the same, just stack them all together and then transfer that mark to the side of the other two bowls and Now everything is marked and ready to go work, so what I'm going to do now is drill a hole on each side of the container and I just want to drill it through the edge.
I'm using a 3 32. inch drill bit and again you just want to drill it carefully just through the edge of the bowl, not getting to the inside of the bowl. Now let's beat this, repeat this across the bowl for all three bowls and here they are all ready to go with that pilot hole drilled in the rim on each of the three sides of each bowl so now our pieces of wood are good and dry and we are also going to prepare them with our pilot holes. So where I'm going to mark them is from the top from the bottom.
My first drill hole will be at the five inch mark and then the next drill hole will be 14 inches from the bottom and then the last one. The drill hole at the top will be about a half inch below the top edge. Now I'm going to go back with my Sharpie to mark it up just to make sure I can see them better when I'm ready to punch them, okay? We're ready to drill our pilot holes and I'm using the same drill bit so I'm going to drill all the way to the other side and all of those locations that I marked and now here are all of those. holes made and I'm going to use this piece as a template for my other pieces, so I'm going to take a second piece and what I'm going to do is stack it under the piece that I drilled the holes in and to transfer that mark, all I'm going to do is do is drill back through the same pilot hole going through the second piece of wood, making sure the pieces are nice and even each time you drill and now you have an exact replica of that piece and you want to do that for the third piece as well until they're all done, so now we have to go ahead and prepare our screws for this now for this project that I'm going to use. some one and a quarter inch number six wood screws for this project and these will make sure it doesn't go through the inside of the container so we choose the darker side so it's on the outside of our shelf so when we screw these we want to screw them right in to the point where the tip of that screw sticks out a little on the other side, as shown here.
Now we're going to do this for all of our pilot holes on all three. legs and here are all the screws all mounted and ready to go with just the tips poking out the other side so now we can go ahead and grab our pet bowls and we can start assembling our shelf piece so I'm just going to take one. and I'm going to turn it on its side exposing that first little pilot hole. Now what I'm going to do is take the one on the bottom of our shelf and I'm going to line up the tip of that screw with the pilot hole this helps keep it in place while you're screwing it in with your drill now you want to slowly go into this don't you want to? make it really tight you just want to do it until it's all the way through and like You can see the screw goes just over the edge and just barely touches the edge of the container, but it only goes over the outside edge of our second container.
We're also going to line it up with one of those pilot holes right by putting the tip of that screw in there and we're going to screw that one into place as well now, once that's all done, we're going to repeat that for the third one in the same way now here are the three bowls mounted on the side of one of the legs are all mounted nicely in place, so now let's just turn them over and do this second one. We'll do this the same way, starting at the bottom and working our way up lining up the screw heads. tips with the holes in the pet bowls and then we're going to screw them all together the same way now here are two sides of our pieceof shelf with all the screws secured and finally all we have to do is add that third side and this is what it looks like it's all put together it's super sturdy and these dog bowls are very thick so now all they have All you have to do is set it up and decorate it, and here you are, now you have three beautiful ones.
Two tier stand for your space now, these large bowls are quite sturdy and can also hold a good amount of weight. Now I chose to put some artificial plants inside, but since they are waterproof, you can put a real potted plant inside to enjoy in your space now don't limit yourself to just plants, you can use this to organize crafts, store bathroom items and much more, The possibilities are truly endless with this little shelf design, let me know in the comments how you would use this shelf in your

home

space. decorating now this project features some modern and stylish vases so we're going to need two of these unique style vases that I found at Dollar Tree and I was really excited to make them so the first thing we're going to do is take a good clean both vases with isopropyl alcohol and then take them out and give them two coats of this Krylon satin spray paint now after they dry here are the finished vases.
I love how this spray paint leaves this finish. Very cute now with the first face we are going to do a technique and we are going to add some bead embellishments so I cut some very thin strips of painter's tape to use on my project now to get the placement correct what I am going to do is on the top edge. I'm just taking one of these little chalk markers and I'm going to mark it in three equal sections on top and then I'm going to take that thin piece of painter's tape that I cut off and I'm going to start wrapping it around the jar in a diagonal pattern almost as if it were spinning around the jar.
Now I'm just looking at this, so now this first piece is going to determine how the rest of your pieces are placed, so you just want to place them and separate them or replace them however you want. This is the purpose of using painter's tape, it won't damage the finish and once you get it how you like it, go ahead and trim off all the excess tape at the bottom, so now that your tape has found its place of landing at the bottom, we'll take that first spot marking where that ribbon landed as the first mark to make this end also have three equal sections and here are those three equal sections at the bottom, now we can use this as a guide when we add our two additional pieces of thin strips of tape, so we're going to line this up with the next little mark on top and wrap it around. into that tight swirl pattern by combining it with the bottom mark the same way we did for the first round and then repeat this for your third piece as well.
Now here are the three pieces of masking tape on your vase and these will provide you with the guides as we add our accent now to add our accent. I'm using some of these brown beads that I'm reusing from Clarence's Christmas garland. You can use whatever beads you want now, if you want to use the loose beads you can definitely add them one at a time from the jar, but I found that adding them on a string makes it much straighter and neater, so this is where I'm going to take a little of jute twine and I'm going to string beads to make sure it's nice and neat.
Now in retrospect, and to match the jar, I would actually use brown or black thread to string them, but if you have jute twine, that's fine, I have a solution at the end of this project, so now that we have several beads strung. that's going to fit one of the swirls, we're going to line it up along the painter's tape. Now I'm going to use my high temperature hot wood glue, which has a pretty good hold, but definitely consider a little bit of E6000 or Gorilla Glue if you want a longer term permanent hold, so I'm going to apply a drop of this glue along the side of that strip of paint.
You don't want to put it on top and you don't want it to touch. We're just using that. masking tape as a guide so I put a five or six inch strip of that hot wood glue down the length of the vase and then I'll hold that strand of beads very taut and place it into that glue applying a little bit of pressure about five or six seconds until it starts to come together, press it down there and then when it's attached you can add the rest of the length of that glue and clip that bead onto that glue as well in the same way, so here's our first thread, all in place along that strip of painter's tape and you can see we have a little bit of excess rope hanging down, so we're going to cut it off leaving about an inch on that bottom edge.
Now we're going to repeat this for the two additional strips around the vase and here. The three strands of beads are placed on the base using the same technique. I love how this looks, so now we can go ahead and remove all that painter's tape. It should come off nice and easy as it shouldn't have come unstuck. Any glue on the ribbon and now all the ribbon is removed and now we just have those beautiful beads in our vase. Now we have some ropes on top. I originally thought about removing the strings completely since the beads are glued together, but this string. it actually gives us some long-term support for the beads, so I'm just going to add a little bit of hot glue inside the vase and press that string down inside that edge.
I'm going to do that on the top edge along the entire outside. until all three are secured inside the base and then I'm going to turn it over. We want to do the same with the bottom part. I'm going to go ahead and remove that sticker first and then hot glue those ropes along as well. the bottom of the vase now, once they're all glued together, we're going to cover it. I'm using a circular piece of craft foam that I had or you can use some felt. I just cut it into a circle and I'm going to apply a little more of that hot glue along the bottom edge and once that's done, I'm going to place it right on top of the bottom.
This hides all the loose strings and gives a nice clean finish on the bottom. of your vase just press it firmly until the glue now adheres to the top of the vase. Now we can see what it looks like. If you love that natural juice finish, you can leave it as is, but I wanted my juice thread to blend. the color of my vase so I'm using some black acrylic paint and I just apply it with a fine tip brush again when I mentioned before that you should use black thread you wouldn't have to do this step if you use black thread but or they can keep it natural it's all up to you guys but I'm going to go ahead and touch it up real quick with my black acrylic paint and this is what it looks like you guys just let this dry and then you can.
Decorate it and here you have it guys, a unique swirl bead and glass vase for your decoration. Now I use some tall branches of Dollar Tree Fern inside to accent this beautiful piece and this swirl bead looks amazing and really gives it a mix of modernity. and boho style now you can also use half beads or you can choose the color you want for this decoration according to your preferences and I hope you let me know what you think and how you would style this in your home now for the other. vase, what we are going to do is give it a metallic accent.
Now some of the elements of this DIY will have a metallic gold touch, so it will combine with the rest of the decoration. Now I'm going to use some of this gold acrylic. paint I have from folk art and I'm going to use a couple of brushes I bought from the Dollar Tree. Now I want this face to have a shadowy look, so what am I going to do with My brushes first apply a very thick, solid layer of that gold color near the bottom and you want to make this band about an inch thick, you can do it to your preference and then you just want to continue adding layers. going up the vase just hitting it with your different brushes and blending them and what it will eventually do is as you grow more into the vase it will give it a really beautiful texture and ombre pattern now that you get close to the top where you really want it to fade on that ombre, you just want to rub it in lightly and then go back near the bottom and add more paint so you can see.
I'm lightly touching the top to give it that final ombre look and look at this guys. It looks so amazing, so easy that you let it dry and all you have to do is decorate it and that's all you have to do to complete this version of the vase. Now I have seen vases with a similar style, unlike restoration accessories for an incredible price, but I love that I was able to make one cheap for only a few dollars now. I really hope you like this version of the vase as much as I do now. This project is a set of modern glass vases.
I'm going to use two of these ombre glass vases and these were from the Dollar Tree. Now what we're going to do is clean them really well with isopropyl alcohol and, if you want, go ahead and remove any labels from the bottom. and clean them up too now, once they're all nice and clean, I'm going to take them out and give them a couple coats of Krylon satin black spray paint, so while they're drying, I'm going to cut out two pieces. from this faux fur ribbon, now I cut it from a leftover piece of this faux fur fabric that I had on hand, but Dollar Tree sells faux fur ribbon, so if you find it, you can use that too.
For a half inch wide cut, now I'm also going to use some thumb tacks and I'm going to use the tack heads, so I just put a little bit on a little piece of foam paper with paper and put about 20 on there and what I'm going to do is paint them with a little black acrylic paint. Now I'm going to start by just rubbing them on the top of the studs to make sure I get good coverage. now you want it to dry completely and then we're going to apply a second coat just to make sure that all that gold color is nice and covered.
Now once that dries we need to seal everything so I'm going to use some of my matte Mod Podge, now they have smaller sizes at Dollar Tree that you can buy, you don't have to use them like the mega size I have here, so all I'm going to do is take a little bit of that mod podge and then I'm going to apply it with a brush to the top of each of those tack heads, just making sure to seal in all that paint color and let it Dry until it has a nice matte shine. as shown here now, here are the vases after they have dried for about an hour and they look amazing.
I love how this paint looks on these little vases, so what I'm going to do first is take the tape strips and I'm going to grab the head of the nail, so what I'm going to do first is take the tape strips and I want to cutting them to the right size just making sure the ends overlap, maybe about a quarter of an inch for each of those strange jars and then to prepare the tacks you want to have a pair of wire cutters and what I'm going to do is grab one of the tacks and I'm just going to cut out the little pin. side of this, you could do this inside a zipper bag or something just to make sure the pieces don't fly everywhere, but you just want to cut all the heads off of all those thumbtacks so now we can go ahead and start applying that tape around the vases, so I'm just going to apply it around and then on the part where the tape overlaps, you're just going to add a SPOT of hot glue that you really don't want to add hot. stick it to the actual vase so that way your ribbon can be removed in case you want to change your look so now we can start adding our tack head so I'm going to start adding one and you'll notice that this vase has these little lines on it , so I'm going to follow that pattern and for every other line I'm going to put one of those tack heads right there and I'm just going to apply it with a DONT of hot glue and here's one with all of those tack heads in place I love it how strange it looks, just fill this out for your second base and here are my two vases all adorned with faux fur trim and a nail head design and now all you have to do is fill them with whatever type of decoration you want and here you have it guys.
I just added my greenery and placed them on display. Now what I put in here was some boxwood, but these would definitely look great with some pompous grass or other neutral colors as well. I think this finish is absolutely beautiful on these and I really hope you give this DIY a try, it's so easy but such a luxurious look. Now that this project is a modern style bookshelf, we will need two of these. slingshot toys from the Dollar Tree and we're going to need one of these wood grain signs from the Dollar Tree. We'll start with the slingshot toys first, take them out of the package, and then cut out the small one.slingshot part of the uh Toy piece, so you can see here, all we were left with was the frame with the little Y shape and we're going to use this part in our project today, so we're going to go ahead and sand that all down. very lightly and then wipe it down because we're going to paint them black and I'm going to use my black Krylon satin, so while they're in there to dry, we're going to start shaping them with our board now for our board.
I wanted it to be about 18 inches long so I measured it at 18 inches and then I took my metal ruler and made a mark and then I'm going to cut it with the odd piece of my utility knife to the side and now we have an 18 inch. board now, as you can see, it's not as straight or as firm as we would like, so we're going to reinforce this and I'm using a leftover five gallon paint stripper bar that I have from a previous project, this should give it a lot of firmness. you need to display your items in your project.
Now you can attach this with hot wood glue or wood glue and you'll just run a bead through the center of that five gallon paint mixing stick and this one is cut to about 17 and a half inches and then we'll press it down the center of the part. bottom of the board and as you can see it is now much firmer and stiffer and we will be able to use it in our project, so now what we are going to do is measure two inches on each side because this is where we will place the legs of our piece of shelf.
Initially I thought about gluing them. but I wasn't really sure it would last and you know I love giving you quality projects so I'm going to add screws to this project so I want to go ahead and screw a hole in a pilot hole on those two. inch marks I need on the board to get it through that support stick on the back and I'm also using a couple leftover plunger handle cuts from Dollar Tree. Now they are cut to three and a half inches, but you'll see later in the project I'll have to cut them to two inches, so I cut them to two inches for now for this project.
Now, what I'm going to do with these pieces is add hot wood glue and I'm going to glue one of those pieces over each of the pilot holes on the bottom of our shelf piece. This will help keep our legs in place and provide a little bit of support and stability, so once they're right Here flip it over and Let's run our drill back so it goes into those Dollar Tree plunger pieces and I'm using a 7 64 inch drill bit. Now I'm going to add screws to the top and I'm using a. and a quarter inch wood screw, now I'm just going to screw these into the Dollar Tree plunger handle piece that's under the bottom.
Now they need to be screwed together, they will be nice and flush and blend together. in the final finish and they won't get in the way of anything you put on your frame so now that much of the project is assembled we can go ahead and stain all of this because these are all the pieces of wood that we will be using in this project so again I'm going to use my antique Waverly wax and apply it to the entire piece starting from the bottom, making sure to apply it and then wipe it off with a paper towel and Do the same with the top of the shelf so as you can see here the color matches very well with a really beautiful color on this wood so it looks great.
You don't need to dye the little pegs because they will be covered with your slingshot pieces, so I set the piece out to dry a little and it's ready to go and I also went out and grabbed my slingshot pieces for the legs, now these slingshot pieces will slide on about those little pegs for that. we have at the bottom, so what we're going to do is take our hot knife and we're going to cut a hole in the bottom of the handle. Now my expectation was that this handle would be Hollow inside but there are some support brackets on the inside, that's where this tool comes in handy because it cuts through all that plastic and therefore you will be able to clear the way so you can insert it onto your little one Peg in At the bottom of your shelf, I initially cut mine to three and a half inches, but it was too long, so as you can see, it doesn't sit flush with the shelf.
There's about a little space there, so when I took my ruler. I measured that there is about a one inch gap, so I ended up suggesting you cut it off two inches. Instead, you cut it two inches because I think it will work perfect for this project, so I'm just going to mark and cut. I don't need the excess, I'm just using my jigsaw real quick to cut it out, it doesn't have to be perfect since it will be inside those little legs, so I went ahead and cut a hole in my two slingshots. pieces on the bottom and now I can slide them directly onto that dowel to adhere them.
I'm probably squeezing eight to ten pumps of hot glue into the leg and then pressing it against the peg, what happens is when you put that glue on. there it will go down over the board and over the connection and secure everything in place and you want to do that for both legs now, once both legs are nice and attached, you want to touch it up with a little bit of paint now. I'm using some black acrylic paint here now, this acrylic paint dries to a matte finish so you want to make sure that when it dries you touch it up with a satin finish and I'm using a satin Mod Podge on there. just so the color blends in really well and here is the shelf all put together the Mod Podge has dried and now your shelf is ready to decorate now as an option if you have an extra bunny shelf you can stain it and add it to the background.
Also, I'm just showing here as an example what it would look like if they made that totally optional, but it would definitely work, but now you can go ahead and decorate your individual shelf and there you have it guys, a beautiful and modern. shelf for your space now the Dollar Tree wooden sign is perfect, it is reinforced and holds up to dye very well. Now I also love the design of the legs. It's a great way to use those slingshot toys. Now this project is a glass vase with wood accents we are going to need two of these iridescent vases from the Dollar Tree and these craft sticks from the Dollar Tree.
Now what we're going to do is start with those vases. I'm not a big fan of iridescent ones so I'm going to give them a couple coats of black satin spray paint now once they're dry, this is how they look and I love the change and the color. Now to accentuate it, I'm going to use some of those leftover craft sticks. which I had dyed with my antique Waverly wax and simply cut them to size to fit around the neck of each of the vases. Now I'm going to apply this with just my hot wood glue or you can use 6000 or any other type of adhesive that you prefer, so I'm going to add hot glue to the back of each of my wood pieces and start applying it around the neck of the vase, just below the upper lip, once the first. it's adhered, you just want to continue adding them in there, just making sure they stay nice and even since I cut all my pieces to the same size, as long as you adhere them the same way, they should line up very easily and it just applies. end to end now here is the wood applied around one of the next vases and I really love this look so I'm going to go ahead and complete it for the second one and here it's super simple this is how it's done and I love the finished look and now I can decorate them, now they just have to decorate and they have an amazing modern set of vases and decoration.
I really love how the light hits the diamond pattern and it looks amazing now guys. These DIYs are so fun to create today and I hope I inspired you to recreate them.
