Apr 23, 2024
Hi I'm Brooke and this is my little ladybug and I live in the Lux

tiny

home community in the White Mountains of Arizona so I've been living in this

tiny

house

for almost 4 months and I just recently moved to In the beginning from Winter the Builder, Steve also owns the community and builds tiny

house

s and the dimensions are 11 feet by 34 tons, so the monthly cost to rent this space is $4.59 and that includes

city

sewer and trash . My house is part. of phase three of the community expansion, so I have about three or four more neighbors who will be moving into the street, part of the expansion.

There is construction going on as the new houses are built and then there are other plans for future amenities like as a community space and a small garden and on the outside of the house, on that side, there is a small storage shed, so I can put things like suitcases and things like that. Also, the lot is quite large. In fact, it had a second set of utilities. because i plan to build a smaller place like a ca type place to be a guest house or like an Airbnb place, well that's all for the outside, let me show you the inside, come in, so welcome to my little house that measures approximately 3.99 square feet.

On the lower floor I also have a loft bedroom area upstairs that is about 64 square feet with the house I really wanted a cozy cabin feel so I have natural wood on the walls and ceilings. I really wanted an open and spacious space. kind of feel and that's why the ceilings go up to about 12 feet when I was helping design the space. I really had my cats on my mind. I wanted it to be a really cat-friendly space and basically any surface they could access. Do it, they have their food and water here on the counter.

If I have guests preparing food or something, I just move it down, wipe down the counters, obviously, when I prepare food and then I have a cat here, this is Molly and my other cat is Buster Buster is a little more camera shy. , but Molly really likes attention. I really wanted the kitchen space to feel nice and open. I also wanted plenty of cabinet storage since I don't have a pantry per se, but I do have full size appliances, so I have a refrigerator that dispenses water and ice. I also have this is a blind base cabinet down here so it goes all the way to the back so I store things that are just lighter like napkins and things further back there and then other Tupperware and things like that lots of cabinet space I have room for baking food and cooking utensils a big dishwasher and nice big sink the window is very nice there I wanted to have a window looking out just to let the light in and look out while I wash dishes and things.

I really have more space than I need right now, but I like it because I can grow if I end up buying more gadgets or kitchen stuff. so Lazy Susan down here, I just keep the cat food, treats and stuff down here, a big electric oven and a microwave on the stove. I have a nice pull out trash can and just find a little extra place for baggies, the kitchen overall works. Great for me, I really have no complaints about it. I initially wanted to make it like an island in my kind of original thought process, but we ended up making it a peninsula here, so it's not like an island that blocks everything.
It's just a nice peninsula that flows into the rest of the kitchen, so I'm very happy with it. When we were going to put the island in, we realized it wouldn't feel as spacious, the other reason I did it. It was also because I wanted to have a place for my printer and laptop. I have on this side of the peninsula a space with cabinets here, there's an outlet built into the cabinet down there so I can keep the printer charging my laptop that way. thing, so I really really like that feature for me, the must-have items in the rest of the house too, we only have full size appliances, you know, I'm really a

city

girl, so I'm used to those amenities. and I was already making a pretty big move so I just wanted to get an idea of what I was used to and since I had the space to do it I went for the full size so we walked in through the front door.
I actually have a second door on the other side of the house and this leads to a small ctio so it's a nice space for the cats to come out to hang out when it's not too windy or snowy and eventually I'd like to build maybe like a cat. tree or something that's weatherproof for them, they can jump around here, but they love it, she comes out right

away

just to check things out and then you can see the rest of my lot behind me, so it's a really big lot. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at gardening and, again, that would be where little Cita would eventually be.
It's just a nice place to go out and hang out with the cats coming back inside. I have some hangers. I can hang my purses here as well and then I have a nice little area for my shoes, I have a little area for my books here too, okay, and then as we walk into the living room, we can say hello to Buster, who's here. a little shy and while we're here, this is a little custom litter area for the cats, if you open it up here, I'm working on some little curtains for them and then their litter boxes, further in, it's just some scratching posts and things and I just put some fun lights in there just to make it a nice little space.
This was my idea, so I asked Steve to incorporate this into the staircase area. I thought it would be a good use of the space and then I have my sofa here and I needed quite specific dimensions just because it's a little bit of a narrow space so I bought this sofa at Ikea and I wanted to be able to entertain so I bought this model that work can really bring out. There is also some storage under this side of the couch, so I use that now. I'm using it as extra blankets and shoes and that kind of thing.
Things that cats love on the couch. It's super nice in the afternoons. The sun is. coming down on this side of the house so we're getting some nice sun from outside, nice and warm, and I also wanted a couch that I could spread out on, lounge around and get really comfortable, so this has been working. it looks great just for the rest of the living room there's just a nice little tv monitor in here and um i found this online and i had to have it for the cats as a fun little thing for them and then since this comes out like a bed, I don't have a table, coffee table, so I just bought this cute little couch, Koozie thing, that way I don't spill drinks or I can just eat snacks or whatever.
Hi, I'm Brooke. 36 years old, I'm a nurse by trade and I'm taking a little break from direct patient care right now, so I've been working online and I'm also in online school for my master's degree. Nursing education, like for many other people, the pandemic had a huge effect on me, a lot of important things happened, one of which was that I got divorced and we sold the house, which put me in a position where I could think about how I want my life to be at this moment in the future. I was ready to make a change and get out of the city and just a change of scenery, so I

start

ed seriously considering small living.
I had always been somewhat curious about it, I was fascinated with tiny living and the different ways of life that people had, like the small RVS Yurts, but at this point in my life I

start

ed to look at tiny living seriously. I found this community online and visited a few times of Airbnbs here, I think staying in some of them helped me get a real feel for what I liked about tiny houses, what maybe wouldn't work as much for me, what would work for me and when it was. I announced on Facebook that there was a new expansion coming to the community, then I took the plunge and started communicating with the owner and that's where it all begins.
Do you sit behind a computer all day? Me too GH, it really could be torture if you don't have the right chair if you are looking for a super comfortable state of the art chair, look no further than the SE Doro s300 ergonomic office chair. It's so comfortable that sometimes I don't even want to get out of it. Christian works to achieve an effortless, smooth and weightless reclining experience, it's what makes the Doro s300 so amazing. It is achieved with an industry-leading mechanism of aerospace-grade materials. Other ergonomic chairs use conventional spring materials that increase tension and pressure, which could lead to serious leg injuries.
Discomfort Gently recline the Doro S300 and stop at any angle without locking the seat cushion and armrest adjust automatically It also feels like magic The icing on the cake is the Dual Dynamic lumbar support which can be easily adjusted so you can find the perfect fit for your seeu type body The Doro s300 ergonomic office chair is defining gravity, redefining comfort, save 10% off by clicking the link in the description on a budget, consider the Doro S100, so give us we moved into our washer and dryer of course we have a little cat pillow for them because they like to take naps in the dryer they just have a little nook for extra towels little projects around the house little tools and things I didn't care about too much, trying to hide the laundry area since I use it almost daily. so it's just part of the house, part of my daily life and I really like it so I could have done it maybe as a washer and dryer combo and that was one of my ideas.
I ended up going with two separate ones since it's the one that just fits under the top area, it just goes in there perfectly and that's what I'm used to as well, having a separate washer and dryer, so yeah, I ended up deciding to use that, so walk into the bathroom I have a nice full size tub and shower combo and in fact my stepdad did all the tile work here so it looks really beautiful really nice we redesigned the bathroom like a few different times so I was originally just going to get a basic fiberglass shower tub combo because there's a window there, fiberglass wouldn't work, so we just went the tile route for the vanity.
I think it's 36 inches

wide

, so it has plenty of storage space. There's plenty of room for me. I don't need too much anyway, so on this side of the bathroom is the toilet and then I'll move the door here and then also just a little area that has the water heater and me. I also keep it like my vacuum cleaner and my broom, extra coats, bags, I can hang extra towels, jewelry, purses, that kind of thing, the design works great, it doesn't feel too tight or crowded, I can move around with ease, I even decided don't do it.
Put a door in this little Nook area just because that would be two doors that would work with them so it works perfectly so that's the downstairs so now let's go look at the upstairs so this is my above. We created a hallway that I can at least stand. I'm about 59 so I can stand in the hallway without hitting my head so it's nice and then I have a little closet here where I have plenty of room for my clothes. to hang I have some extra clothes down here and then to my bedroom here there is a queen size bed that fits in here so I have space around the bed I have more storage space under here there is also a pull out drawer under the bed on that side I use it for less used things like extra sheets, it's a really nice and cozy space.
I can sit very well, no problems, nice big window, which is great, but it doesn't make it feel small and claustrophobic. The feature I added was a small barn door. One of the reasons I added the barn door was that my idea is for guests to stay awake in this room and be able to close a barn door for privacy. Hopefully the cats won't bother me but it's just also nice to have a little more privacy for myself if I need it so the tiny house costs about 141 total and that doesn't include the appliances or furniture.
Decor. I took out a small person by myself just to cover that stuff, but oh boy. It's just that I've gone through all my monthly bills now, even with the loan, and everything is still lower than my monthly rent in Phoenix, so there's a big difference there, there's been a bit of an adjustment moving from a big city in to about 1,000 feet above sea level to a small town at almost 7,000 feet, but it's beautiful up here. I love it. I love the clean air, the clouds, the sun, although it is cold, obviously, in winter and it snows.
The sun almost risesevery day. so it still has that kind of piece of Arizona with that place where I live with nice sunny days, it's convenient, I'm not really rural, um, I can go to the store, there are some lakes in a couple of minutes. drive that you can walk through and so yeah, I really love it here. I really enjoy living in this community. I think a big part of it is that we all have similar mentalities, although we are all Here, probably for different reasons, I met with some of the neighbors and we already exchanged numbers, you know, they offered to help me with anything and it just feels safe , it's pretty quiet, which I really enjoy about living in a small house.
I feel like I can decompress a little more in my daily life. It feels just nice and cozy and since I really helped with design ideas, it feels like it's my home, which I think is important to how I feel. super comfortable and happy in your house when I was thinking about the design and the house I really took the cats into account and since I wanted it to be a space that they also loved and felt comfortable in, it was a great step.for They've settled in really well too, but I've definitely thought a lot about the things they'd like about the house and I actually have plans to make it even more cat-friendly for them, like it's our house or you could say.
