Jun 08, 2021
Hey guys welcome to my channel I'm Kristen and today I'm going to be doing more DIY with

dollar

tree

boxes so these boxes I bought at Michael's because I can't find them anywhere at

dollar

tree

so they are very very similar to each other and cost 99 cents at Michael's. I just made a shipment home. You can pick it up in the store. With shipping to home you can get 12. So I went with 12. You can use a 20 off coupon and it ends up being cheaper than 99 cents, so guys let's jump into more box

crafts

. I'm going to use two of these boxes first and I'm going to call this a dollar tree video just because I know a lot of people know it can be done.

I get these boxes at Dollar Tree, but these ones I end up picking up at Michael's because I can't find them at my Dollar Tree anywhere and I'm just going to use Wavelet Chalk Paint in White to paint the two boxes and these two

wooden

ones. dowels these were from the dollar tree these are just the longest ones not sure what size they were just what I had left over and then once everything is dry I'm just going to take my glue gun and glue the two together with hot glue. boxes together also this is my second

wooden

box video I've done so if you haven't seen the other one I'll leave it in the description box below so you can check it out and then I picked up this Dollar Fresh Flower Market sign Tree. recently so if you haven't been to your dollar tree in a while I hope they have these because they have the cutest summer gardening type signs right now they are so cute so I just turned it over and then I'm just using wood dowels and I'm hot gluing them all the way to the edges and I had to make sure they were straight because we were going to stand this up and we didn't want the sign to warp once everything was dry.

I just hot glued the edges of the boxes, so this is the back because I'm going to attach the wooden dowels to the back. I was actually going to put this in the middle or center of the boxes so you could I don't see the wooden dowels, you could definitely do it that way, but this is the way I decided to do it. I think it looks very cute either way. I also placed my wooden dowels a little too far away so they wouldn't go in. the boxes, unless I wanted to glue them back together, they broke everything so I opted to do this and I think it looks really cute so as I was saying fresh flower market I decided to add some greenery.

This came from a garage sale I bought like a big garbage bag full of boxwood and greenery and fall flowers and stuff for five bucks so I've never used this it's like a garland so I decided to cut it up and add it directly to these crepes and then I have I had so many succulents that I reuse my succulents all the time so I just had a big box of them and I bought some new ones from Dollar Tree this year and I thought it would look really cute just put them inside the boxes that you could definitely use. any type of flower you like, but I really like this green color, these light greens, I'm just interested in this color scheme, next DIY I'm going to use four of these boxes and this is the nutmeg brown Apple Barrel color and me.

I'm just mixing it with a little bit of water to make a stain if you're new to my channel this is how I really like to make stain for wood pieces it just works so much better it's not messy and you can actually make it at home because it doesn't smell bad, I actually really like the stain smell, but it works well when you're in an area that you don't know is ventilated, just go ahead, grab some paint and some water and do it. your own stain once all the boxes were stained and cut painted I was just gluing them together so I glued two together first and then I glued the other two together and then they came out a little bit uneven just because the boxes aren't all the same. sizes, which is a little annoying sometimes when you really want them to line up, so I had to redo this a couple of times to make sure they at least sat straight, because there was a pretty big gap here when I made it like that, so I ended up breaking the boxes before the glue dried.
It was quite a deal, but I guess before gluing just make sure everything lined up nicely. The boxes were stuck together. I just took these wooden stakes. and I cut them down, they're eight inches long, these wooden stakes came from Dollar General for a dollar a piece and they're three feet long and they're leftover from a different DIY so I try to use as much as possible. It is possible to get my money's worth. If you guys don't know what I'm doing, it'll be one of these little toolboxes. These little boxes with handles, whatever you want to call them.
I cut them. the wooden pegs are eight inches long and then I'm just measuring the inside because I'm going to use this wooden dowel from Walmart. I'm not sure what size this one is, but there are a ton of different ones, they all cost 98 cents. I just choose the size you want once I cut it out, painted it black with Wavelet Chalk Paint in Ink and then glued it on and that's all I did for this one, it was very easy to do, you can paint it however you want. color you wanted, you could give it the style you wanted.
I just decided to add some little pieces of greenery and some like leftover flowers that I had already cut and I think this is so stinky and cute that the next one is one of my favorites. I'm going to use Waverly chalk paint in white and paint two of these boxes once they were dry. I glued these two together like the others. I feel like I'm very repetitive on this point. And then once they are. glued together, I bought these cute frames from Dollar General, they were two dollars each, but if you can find the really cute galvanized ones from Dollar Tree, you could definitely buy those too and you'd save four dollars, but I love this.
Galvanized look, these are so pretty. I ended up removing the clips that are just attached with a screw so I unscrewed them, removed the little clips and then screwed the screw back in and I think it looks just as good. and I'm just gluing them together as a little window pane. This part is completely optional, but I just like to use craft sticks or popsicle sticks and put them in the back to secure it. I know the back doesn't look very pretty or nice. but I think these frames would definitely have fallen apart unless I wanted to use e6000 or some other type of better glue, but I just hot glued them through some craft sticks on the back and you won't know unless you give it a try. the return I didn't really think about this part, um, but I was just gluing the boxes to the bottom of this and there were some gaps.
I wanted it to stand pretty straight, so I didn't take some like small wooden ones. dollar tree blocks and place them under the box so everything was level and secure and they were both level with each other because the frames were a little higher so I decided to use chocolate stencils. I haven't used Chalk Tour as much as I'd like, but I've started to become a designer. I don't talk about it much, but if you want to try Chalk Tour, I'll leave my link in the description box below. Plus, they are just reusable stencils. Use a little chalk paste, as if a little is enough.
They peel and stick, and when they stick, the stickiness comes back as soon as you wash them. I definitely recommend it if you want it. To try them out, clean these insoles as soon as you're done because I didn't do that with a pair and they were very messy to clean, but they also left a really bad paste residue on the top and I definitely don't want that, so this was super cute. I just wanted this like little farm fresh eggs with the chicken. I decided to put it in the middle of a small blackboard. This little board came from Dollar General, but you can definitely pick up similar ones. up like this from the dollar tree and then I took one of these little dollar tree command hooks, I put it on top so I can change this board and with the chocolate tour you can just clean the template and reuse the board, so I think That's really cool too, this DIY I'll be using three of these boxes and this arteza espresso mixing it with some water to make another dye.
I really wanted a darker wood so I used some water on a darker round color paint and I'm going to come back with more chocolate stencils and these little chalkboard labels from Dollar Tree and I knew this might or might not work, this one It didn't work but I really liked the way the stencil peeled off part of the label on the board because it's like paper, don't use paper, I thought I ruined these stencils. It came off like super hot water in the end, but you can see the black residue on the back. and it kind of started to peel off, but I really liked it, I said I liked that rustic look, that small dirty look, so I left it like that, I thought about redoing it, I decided not to because, like I said, I really liked the shape. looked and then I did it with a couple more and they worked fine, it didn't tear any of the board, so these, um, are more of those little wooden stakes from Dollar General, cut them up and send them the same color as the boxes. and these are about three to three and a half four inches long, I think they're about four inches long and I'm just gluing them to the inside of the boxes and I'm going to stack the boxes on top of each other using these wooden stakes as support for some reason you will see that two of these wooden stakes are a little shorter.
I didn't realize that I don't know. I have no idea how I didn't see that so you can. See there's like a little gap towards the top but it didn't really bother me at all so I left it as is these little metal corner pieces that came from Amazon and I'll link them for you guys they're really cute and I can't remember how many they come, but I'll link it in the description box and I just glued them to the bottom of these boxes, but this gives a really nice look to these, I thought it was like that. perfect little touch that I was going for like a rustic

farmhouse

like vintage style and I definitely think this worked and then I started dry brushing with Wavelet chalk paint in white because I just didn't like how they turned out completely. brown I wanted to give it a little more and then I decided to stick on the rest of the little chalkboard labels with the chocolate stencil and I love how this turned out, I think it's so stinky and cute, do it yourself.
I'm going to need three different types of paint, this is the espresso brown with a little bit of water once again and these are actually the Dollar Tree boxes so I show this in a sticker trick video I made. I'll link it too, but I just want to show you in case you haven't seen that video and this was just one of my favorite things that I did with these boxes. I'm also using Waverly chalk paint and the elephant to paint the second and then the third. one I painted is just in Waverly chalk paint on the white dollar tree it has some really cute stickers on it and I loved these ones that look like metal, they had ones for the corners, they had ones for the edges, I thought they were really cool, like this so I decided to add them. on the sides of the boxes, I've seen a larger piece like this on Pinterest or Amazon, something specific like that, so I wanted to recreate it in a smaller version, so I decided to use my cricut and cut out a couple of wildflower stickers. seeds, fresh cut flowers and some type of grass, I don't remember exactly what it said but you'll see in the end, but I just used my arteza transfer tape and put them right on the boxes and then I went in with this arteza. bronze color just to dry brush the cases to give it a little more of a vintage look and then I love the way it looks I think a gold would look great a bronze would look great I really love these The colors make This stands out a little from the ground.
I simply glued the four corners to the bottom box and added four beads. These beads came in a big box or big package from Walmart a long time ago and I have quite a few left. So I decided to start using some of the things I have and I think this is so cute. The DIY is actually from a mystery box I recently made. I'm using this Brussels brown once again with a little bit of water, mix it together to tint it. boxes for this I decided to use some of these fun stickers. I love them, like the golden amber color.
I thought it was really pretty for the center, so I glued them right on one of the boxes and then decided to use these really cute ones. I also used wooden dollar tree cutouts to stick in the center of the boxes and just used what I had left of those little old dollar tree stickers one more time and put them in the center of the box on each side and also I'm using these dollar tree stickers and I'm going to put them in the corner, they have a lot of different types so definitely check your dollar tree when you go.
I don't normally look at stickers, but when I saw a bunch of these really fun ones recently. I knew I had to grab them because eventually I would figure out what to do with them, like I said this was part of a mystery box challenge so I have these wooden beads. a puzzle ofDollar Tree and I just wanted these to stand up too so I just use them for little feet and that's it for these boxes okay guys that's it for the video I hope you enjoyed it and if you they made.
