you some of this fantastic supporting and amazing event because the first car here is 2017 Rattle and Hum, Steve himself, my pleasure, that would be a good talk about pimping the Impala 64. What made you do this? I actually bought it like this from a company in Des Moines, originally the interior took a hit about 10 years ago, but Yes, it hit, all it did was put enough air in the wheels, that's how it came out of the factory tool .
castle hill rsl rattle hum car show classic restos series 35
Okay, so let's talk about geometry. Here we have the big wheels and the old school suspension. configure now how the car drives with those low profile tires that's really good it really hears things like a bird going down the road no drama so good hard no no actually it's pretty smooth it's pretty good yes it explains the suspension with what you got it done, it's not hydraulic now she's there, right, she has two tanks and then in the back we have four switches, we can make everything go down at the same time, we can do it side to side or with a single wheel, yeah, it's Well, what's the fun?
castle hill rsl rattle hum car show classic restos series 35
Department out of the way a little bounce with the big girl, but the real car and Steve in its entirety, the originality, the body is just beautiful, yes I did, it came as a token of sympathy, originally delivered in 1964 and apparently to a farmer and the He got upset about it in 1968 because she broke down because it was hot outside and he pushed her into the shed and that's where it was and it's like I said, he just had to blow it out and it didn't have any dents or anything. so, that's a pretty good Nick for an older girl and it's cool to see the original 1968 registration label still there in the glass room, yeah the April 1968 main tip on the inside, Steve, that's awesome, she's 55 years, no tears, no. tears no nothing amazing 1908 he must not have been carrying cotton swabs anymore it was him you must have liked him there oh look I love the car I mean I have often wondered with these big girls I mean you see a lot of them in the United States The states They mean, yeah, putting hydraulic suspension with an air bag on these big Chevys, it's such a dumb thing, the engine in the front, what have you done there?
Steve, has a Willian manifold and just this on a different rocket cover than a 650 Holley with all the original. the guys at home, Stromberg and all the rest, make a great body, great paint, great interior, good engine in the front, just a reliable old school car with a couple of small modern modifications and it's the kid happiest on the block that you could still smile at. My face every time you turn the key as you go, thanks Steven, thanks for coming to Rattle and Hum 2017, always for a good cause here too and if you've been here before you might last a yes, good event love to Turner.

Australia has changed over the last 80 years and Reiko filters have changed, but one thing has remained the same: Rika's commitment to developing and testing all our filters in Australian conditions.

You can trust Reiko filters, the choice of professionals if you have a restoration project here and Forbes has the tools you need. Check out these restoration products. Retractable stretchers. Rolling platforms. You are at your own risk because you will end up buying something, so come to your local shop or search and buy online from an engine house because Harun Forbes has the range of Evans waterless engine coolers, easy to install and easy to install.
They remain in good condition throughout the useful life of the engine. suitable for all types of internals Evans is water-free eliminating corrosion, steam pressure and overheating with a boiling point of 190 degrees Celsius no application or extreme environment Evans coolant gives you Evans drinking water to cool and a beautiful Impala now moving on to a 1955 Ford Pickup Hey, don't complain about good things Fletch, how are you doing my good? What a beautiful thing, this is fine and if it is an EFI it can be tomorrow a nice classic truck that everyone loves now this is a high end vehicle.
Complaint, tell us some of the things that have been done here. Oh, the bodywork restoration from the chassis to the gearbox of the new top engine has been completely done. Look, some names or stainless steel bolts have been made throughout the car. They said everything was done. from scratch now don't just say red, but what is the red color scheme now? This type of truck has really come into fashion and be careful over the years. I mean, these are the type of trucks that are obviously going to be based on American designs here in this country produce trucks, farm trucks, well, they took a beating to see one now in 2017 restored to this level, it's beautiful, it's beautiful and Like I said, it's a source of pride and joy, and it's a pleasure to drive a La Jolla Nail Rattlesnake.
They're new cars, you actually have new cars physically, everyone who drives them has fun, so yeah, there's something about driving an old car. and that's it. I mean, they have more charisma, they have some finesse. and they have that old style feel that turns back the clock for all of us, yes they just got an Adam character, an American Muscle classic, we can't beat them, the quality of the medium is a little better than the new cars, They're just solidly built cars and they're a lot of fun, yeah, now we look inside the interior, Steve and that just says, I'll come and sit in me, yeah, it's leather upholstery, it's pretty basic. pretty much a regional assignment and Bosch is all original gauges, a few parts have been changed for now, just nothing over the top, it's also cool to think of a commercial vehicle, but when they are restored there, they are well made as a sedan in many ways.
It's made very comfortable now at the front in the engine department, it looks very good, it's not too serious, but it does the job better, very good, what's going on there, yes, it works, it does a job very well, It's a 347 Stroker, so it's all new. I'm just running. a good ignition and it's pretty much a new capacity engine that we've built, so it's really good now. Wayne from behind looks as sharp as he does from the front. What type of wood goes with the American oak on the back? Searles American Oaks all American Oak we did it all ourselves Oh fantastic that's beautiful mate we will size the front wheel size 22 not enough in 2014 in the rear air well it has a 5 link rear suspension Mustang too much fun it has the FP the six piston calipers and this in the front, so it's an extraordinary combination because nine times out of ten the logic of thinking is that a truck will not turn a corner, but when you have this type of configuration you have something that can turn something. that can stop and probably handles so it's beautiful, it handles very well if it's an old car when it's not just a car, it's a truck and if you have this to take corners like it's on rails, that's an achievement important thing the thing stops is you have the best of all worlds here yeah it's just new technology on an old truck and it's just beautiful and everything was done right and we set it up really well so it all fits together well keep going running on the same 1950 step back in the old days, but modified, gearboxed and fantastic.
Hey Wayne, thanks for bringing the truck in for the 2017 Rattle and Hum Pleasure and KidCare, you make it better, but I'd move on. doing all the good work that you're doing and we really appreciate it, it's a pleasure, thank you, thank you, right. I think the classic restoration business, as it has gone now doing trucks, is a great move. We looked at this vehicle here and it is very nice. There's something to be said for simplicity, a v8 engine, a set of extractors, a really clean two-pipe four-barrel II carburetor, it doesn't get any sweeter than that as you move through the sensational 2017 Rattle and Hum and like most of car shows, they stand out. for great charities behind the scenes with me now Heidi, how are you?
I'm fine, how are you slits? I'm wonderful now your son Isaac has autism yes that's right tell us sir the role of Tala would be fine the role of Taylor would be actually. celebrating the unique gift of each child and being able to teach them in a way that shows love and care while engaging the parents and engaging the parents too. I think Teller would be unique because we have a great community that we can reach. we share new ideas we come to there is no judgment we can celebrate our children which is sometimes a rarity so it's just an amazing school, amazing place, good start, lovely, lovely, relaxing children, not just parents lovely and wonderful, yes, salt of the earth, people in special needs schools.
I mean babysitting, I think that's brilliant, now you personally have an older daughter Anna, too, that's right, yes she's 16, yes a beautiful girl keeps me sane, yes, yes, and obviously she would help with Isaac, yes, yes, it's a constant. helps and the thing is this school celebrates not only the student, but also the family members, the siblings, you know, it's just a safe haven for us as a family. Heidi, thank you so much for being on the show today, it just goes to show the tireless efforts and work of the staff at Tala Wood and also you as parents and it's so nice to know that the special needs school is already there.
Do you have a website? Yes, our website is cashier. New south Wales? edu, a website at the bottom of the screen right now, if you would like more information on how to make a donation, including to the school, I would really appreciate it, honey, thank you so much, Fletch, with me now, David O'Neil . Castle Hill RSL group chief executive, how are those bombing well? Do good 90 here from Rattle and Hum, yes, possibly one of the greatest, yes, possibly one of the ones that are becoming stubbornly kind to us today with the weather and the currency with us with the cars and the turnout has been absolutely fantastic, it's wonderful that you have this day David, it's a great place, you have two huge areas here, two level parking lots full of cars, it must be a great feeling, I mean a lot of event organisers, it's a lot of work for a 12 month period to achieve something like this.
He has done it again, very well done. Oh, absolutely. I mean, we couldn't do it without the incredible work of Carney, who is actually one of our managers. This is actually your oneoriginal idea about ten years ago and he and he wanted to do this and Tony got all these different car clubs and everything else involved and they all came together, I mean they all came together for an amazing cause, I mean the cashier would go to the school, it's just It's such an amazing school and it's really nice when you see the community come together for something as important as this and like you said the place is ideal for something like this, dividing up the divided areas and everyone can move around and see everything, so it's fantastic.
There's David, I mean, people must be talking all over the Rattle and Hum club. I mean, he's made quite a name for himself, hasn't he? Absolutely, every year it gets more and more and you see the same faces coming out every time. year to take a look and that continues to grow, which is really important from a community perspective to raise awareness about Tala and other schools of that nature, but it's also good to involve your community and something different than what you normally do on a daily basis, so What is really significant is that many of our cell clubs in all areas do wonderful things for communities; there aren't many RSL clubs there that do car shows and I think there's a lot of initiative there and in terms of Tony Odle, he does a very good job of avoiding the camera, that's why you won't see him on today's show but as David alluded, he is working behind. the scenes and organizing this great day David, thank you very much for your time and of course Castle Hill RSL also always has many promising events for members and guests, absolutely Fletcher, no, thank you very much for your attendance and everyone here, I'm someone, come today, they are the ones who make a day a successful day and I would like to thank them too and thanks to their support as always it is a pleasure for me, thank you David, greetings for what happened.
I've spent a lot of time here, RT charging is the real deal and e49 reminds me of a charger. I always have projects going on, so the Shannon cover helps protect my restoration. I'm not part of it honestly, it's a passion. Shannon understands that she would. I do not insure my cars and bikes from anyone else. I mean, needless to say, they are a hard car to get these days. I mean, you have to have a lot of money. I guess if you went in many years ago and bought a GT, if you still have it today, you're certainly greener and it's definitely, definitely, definitely worth some money to me, it's more to enjoy. car for sure, but there is a lot of tradition with the GT Falcon in this country and obviously with the XR and x2 at the beginning there and from performance from a factory point of view, yes, it definitely meant telling us about your car, okay, 73 9- inch DS mostly unrestored, this car a little paint here and there, but hey, I hope there's a little paint in here and a gray primer.
I wouldn't want a thief to look at his brand name for a GT, that's correct. Now, when 1973 came, the Windsor was gone, it was hot, obviously, the great Clevelands were in front and they were like hamburgers with the light, right? 351 Cleveland, 4 speed top loader, nine inch differential, virtually indestructible for street use, they certainly were a good package, right?, right?, certainly, they were very strong, reliable and are great for drive, so My Chem, have you had this car? I bought this car when I turned 48, October 30, 2010, I already had it. in at least seven years, fourth owner, so the car was originally sold at Ipswich Murphy for the dips, then went to McCoy, then Harvey Bay and that's where I bought it.
I drove it 1,400 kilometers back to Sydney. Yes, good for your friend and me. I mean the high back buckets and the curve around the dash that started in the XA. I mean, they always complement the interiors of these co-ops. I mean, it's a bit, I guess, a derivative of the American style that was produced in the Australian market, based on the coupe. out of the Torino way of the United States and it is certainly a cult in this country, oh it was definitely definitely made and I think more so now in the 80s and early 90s hardtops just weren't loved you can buy one for a thousand dollars these days and I've noticed, especially in the last 12 months, that marketers have almost doubled.
People just want a beautiful show. I think I also thought ahead with the rear styling of the car because there's really no need to analyze these things. I'm talking about the tires you can put under the rear. They were certainly considering the racing teams of the era one day. You can definitely see it by the size of the repeat. It is the consideration that comes out. You can fit a very large tire. these to sit on could fit on a 90's tire these could fit on a 12 inch tire easily just mention your club if you are looking for people to join or even if you don't have a teenager you want to be a part of this great club Who are you GT Sydney club?
Why did they prefer to say that it is not necessary to have a GT to be part of our club? Family club. We love getting out and driving these cars. That's what we're here for, right? We've certainly existed as a club for a few years, right? We have certainly achieved it. I think 2006 2007 you're good at chatting with your brand. Thanks again friend. Thanks Flats thinks I've been here. It's time to deliver now. How are you? Pretty cool, Fletch, that's how I roll. You have a nice venue from 1973. I think there was a party in the paddock once.
Yes, some planned it in the coat and didn't polish it one bit, and we got it. Have I ever gotten, yeah, regionally, Rovers K passed away in Ooty and I mean we did it in a tribute for my brother, which is really nice, right? Yes, I'm sorry to hear about your brother's loss too. Right now, obviously, I'm a paddock destroyer and when you got the car you wouldn't have paid a lot of money for it. I wouldn't have guessed it, no, I mean, you know you bought it for $4,000 in the city, yeah, it's pretty cheap in those days, well, that's it. pretty good paying a thousand dollars for a qe2 door and in memory of your brother, you and your father are now very lucky to have the car, now that you have done some different things, it is not an original color, tell us the color and what you I did the car first, originally it was orchard pink, but we planted a color 72, it wasn't a very popular color at the time, but a lot of people started to like it now, yeah, so what have you done with the engine?
The engine was in it when we got it, it was originally a six, but from the body tags there are about 327 and we took them out and we're going to refresh them 327 years now, it's interesting to use a 327 in the headquarters just to be different, yeah, no we came Out with them, but yeah, some different ones so I might add salt 308 350 s 327 just shoved in there, you know, I said something different just to change the mix a little bit now in terms of the interior, how was that? What did you do? there to make it look as cute as it does now, we just bought already sewn houndstooth and got the pasta to cover it.
It is a quite original interior. We've done well, Phil, thank you very much for being here. It's getting late and the car parts are getting thinner here. Wow, there were so many cars here today. What did you think of the program? Oh, it's pretty good and it's been you for a few years and yeah, it's getting bigger and bigger and better. Yeah, good for you, okay, Phil, well, thanks. for walking around like I said with the power of your father and being part of today's program thank you very much see you later well, what do you think of that?
I'm glad I found the time to get around and bring you some Rattle and Hum and if you check the social media pages and keep in touch with Castle Hill RSL for 2018 event dates, the proceeds will go to a fantastic cause to help children with special needs at Tallow Woods School, like me.
