DRAGON SCALES! Straight Pour Painting (With a TWIST)

Mar 24, 2024
what's going on guys welcome back to the channel another video today i watched a video on olga sobey's channel she made this really cool green palette as a base and then she made some embellishments and stuff like that and it kind of inspired me to do something very It's similar to that, but I'm not going to do the embellishments, so the colors that we got for the base and we have this light green, we have a darker green like evergreen phthalo green, like an even darker grain tone and something further. The gold is going to be the base and then for my locks we have a deep magenta, a cadmium red and a violet that I mixed with this piggy powder that I feel like will look amazing with it and then a titanium white so that's going to be the faint lines what a breath I haven't done a

where it was a traditional leaning and stuff in a long time, so I'm really excited to try it again, so the first thing we're going to do is, "We're going to take our vegetables, we're going to layer them and We're going to have our conversation like we always do, how is everyone doing on this wonderful day?

ing medium when I mix these are up and that's all we have the consistency is not very thin, maybe it's a trace of two, that's how I normally measure the consistencies of the paints that I have and I don't strain them, which can bite me, but I don't know I'll see that this gold is just a glorious gold Now what I'm going to do next. layering it is that I'm going to take a stick and draw quadrants on it to help separate the colors a little bit like I said. no matter what colors you can shake these are all shades of green or whatever so if you mix it up a little it won't hurt anything let me add a little gold y'all know I like my metals and this gold it's a shiny gold let me grab this so you can see what this is decoart america metallic and it's gold 24 karat gold color phenomenal it's amazing it's one of my favorite golds if I'm not wearing a gold gold brand gold gold brand okay , okay, what else do we have here now?

This is a 12 by 12 canvas. This is a nine ounce mug. So, shall we continue with the same trend as we normally do? I always use way more paint than I need and that's okay. I'm just going to take this same stick and cut the paint off, just take it out, now there's no silicone in these so it shouldn't create cells on its own, but here we go, the puppy has really nice layers and let's do it. a dirty

with it, oh wow, it looks like a snake that's crazy, holy mackerel, these colors together are amazing, so I'm going to try to use as much of this as I can.

I said it's 12 by 12, which isn't actually a 12 by 12. I may have lied to you, I'm pretty sure this is a 14 by 14, but nine ounces of paint should be much more than enough. Look at that cut as well as the swirls in it. Hmm, beautiful, now that we are. I'm going to spread this paint across the surface. I don't need a base coat because I'm not using silicone. I see some cell-like parts opening up, which is interesting. This part here looks like

scales

like snake skin, that's really evil. Okay, let me rotate it a little bit, so yeah, trail two, it's going to take me a little while to stretch this to the point where I get enough coverage on the canvas, but yeah, like this looks really mean right now, might need some. white paint just to allow this to continue to slide so it doesn't sink as much because right now the flow is slowing down dramatically because it's a lot thicker.

Could you look at that so far? Although there are some cells forming in that area. that's pretty amazing, give me a second, let me get some white paint because I feel like white would add a little bit, I mean even if I wanted to go with a negative space that might be good, so let me get some white , Alright. I'm basically using this, just trying to get the rest of the paint to move, giving it something to slide over. Ideally, I'd like to pour all of this out, but we'll see what it might end up with. it's a good amount of negative space that looks amazing so far, so I see like snakeskin, some kind of

dragon

scale, something like that, some of this looks a lot like

scales

, what's everyone else seeing?
I would like to know in the comments. Alright, here we go, let's put some white in here, so if you've ever noticed that paint doesn't want to flow over dry spots, it behaves a lot like resin in that way, if you have dry areas on the

painting

he doesn't like. moving through that, so we try to get it a little bit, just enough, it's where the paint can flow, that's beautiful, although even if I wanted to leave that just a little bit of negative space, I feel like it would work, so I'm taking the most of the painting to the right and letting it move towards that corner without disturbing what's happening there too much.
Let's see how it slides freely now and now I can bring it back to the center. This thing looks bad, so this might have been a rare time where I didn't use too much paint, so mark it on your calendars because that's new especially for me, so we just let the paint flow to the other corner and it still stretches and Opening up all these little details, the white one I used is considerably thinner than the greens and gold, so it's almost like the green and gold are flowing over the top, so let me try to carry a little weight to that corner. but man this looks really amazing so while we wait for the flow to calm down how is everyone doing?
I hope that everybody are very well. I'm doing amazing. I'm going to do this, pursue my passion, continue doing what I love every day. How cool, I can't wait to leave this out so you guys can see all the little subtle details in this because almost the gold almost created some cells, which is interesting. I have metals that behave that way sometimes, but I don't always create cells, but this is creating like magic on the canvas right now and I love it, this is great, it's starting to flow to the corner and then we we stop to the right and bring some of that, back to the center, I mean, I almost don't want to mess with this at all because I love how it looks now, it looks so good, you've got all these shiny metallics, man, they just look phenomenal , so I go.
To continue making my little line, I think I want it to follow this area here, so I'm not going to use too much paint, but I do want a line. We have that red line here and I think the red with the white will do some really spectacular things. Now these whites, these other colors that I'm adding now have some silicon in them, so I want them to create some cells when I blow and we'll see what we do. can I make you do this is that this color of pigs right here is very liquid although it's okay, I'm very happy to bring you to this some of you call me the bob ross of acrylic pouring, I don't know if it's my voice or what I'm trying to be positive and optimistic, but Bob Ross was an absolute legend and I'm flattered that some of you said that mm-hmm, okay, let's do this, I don't think we need to add anything. whiter and I'm going to try not to get my big head in the way, let's see if I want to add anything else to it before I explode, I feel like my head is going to get in the way, but we I'll see, let me see, that looks great and it's creating some cells.
I think it could use a little more light, although maybe I should have done that at the beginning and added a little more white. but it's very organic looking and then that silicone interacts very seriously with the rest of the colors, like on this side, you can't even see the white, so there we go and we're going oh, I like it, yeah. that adds enough light and contrast hmm, that's beautiful, let me warm it up now. I may or may not have gotten some bubbles into it, so this will help pop those bubbles and help the silicone maybe react a little bit more and now I have an idea because the composition is not quite centered.
I feel like I want to draw another one that shoots in that direction, so that's what we're going to do. Very organic beautiful curves. We put a little red on top. there's the glorious pyrrole red of the gold, we have this piggy mica powder to give it an even more metallic shine, these beautiful violet colors and this deep magenta on top and then we've already learned about the other one that we want to add. a little more white on top to help contrast even more, maybe just a little more, okay, here we go. I'm going to turn that off just trying to keep this flow going and as you can see the cells in this are still opening up everywhere oh yeah that's beautiful okay same as the other one.
I want to help some of that silicone react. Look at those cells just exploding. That is incredible. Now I'm going to go over everything. Any bubble. I want to make sure that you get rid of any of those bubbles on the surface. This looks so cool. I love it. I love it. Here we go. Wow, let me bring you over so you can see this, but it's so wicked, let's see the brilliance of that. The gold and then the red and magenta purples created this really amazing little organic looking structure that looks so wicked.
