Chicago Bears request permit to tear down Arlington Race Track

permit

to

tear

down the building one step further. the process to eventually build a new stadium on a different portion of this land, they're doing what any developer or small business would do with a property that has vacant buildings is it helps with that 326 acre property tax base. is divided into five parcels for tax purposes, the total tax bill last year was approximately three million dollars, almost two-thirds of that was for the parcel containing the

track

which, if torn down, reduces the tax value of the land, the Bears say the demolition does not mean they have decided to develop the site, it is very likely that it will be done, it will just take some time.

The Bears have already released initial drawings showing their plans for the land — in addition to a new domed stadium, they would add residential and commercial units. with hotels, restaurants and bars, but that is several years in the future, observers say demolition is the next step in the process for the Bears and will also allow them to determine if there will be any environmental cleanup they will need to do before building there .
