(instrumental music plays) - Once you have written down your fears and resentments, it is time to

meditate

. Now, many people have tried meditation before, and some have a very established practice, while others find it too boring and pointless to even try. And I was in that last group when my friend first showed me these techniques. But since he was getting a lot of mileage out of writing down my fears and resentments, I was actually eager to accept whatever next suggestion she gave me. I just wanted everything to move forward, the good feeling I was having, and the feeling of hope, and that things were falling into a beautiful order in my mind.

It's important and you deserve it. So choose a quiet and comfortable place like a sofa, a chair or sit on the floor leaning against the wall. And for now, you'll need to choose a mantra. You want a word that has no meaning or is very neutral and calming to you. The great author and speaker, Brendon Burchard, suggests using the word liberation. Another word you could use is this, which means simply listen and now. I know someone else who uses the sounds la, la, la, la, la, and that's okay too. So for this exercise, why don't we go ahead and use the word this?
If you're ready, simply close your eyes and repeat the word to yourself slowly and silently. We will be there for 20 minutes with some background music and I will let you know when the time is up with a bell. So there it goes. Think the word with me as I say it. And when my voice fades, keep thinking this word to yourself. And if you forget and your mind wanders, that's okay. That is normal. Simply return your mind to the mantra, this, this. And when the bell rings it means 20 minutes have been completed. Then at that moment you will take a few moments to open your eyes.
Let's start. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. This. (binaural beats play) (binaural beats play) (bell rings) Now the bell has rung. And we'll just take a few minutes to gradually return to the room and slowly open our eyes. You can take a few minutes to relax a little afterwards if you have time. And I wish that were easy. And if you fell asleep, that's okay. This is a very forgiving meditation and the goal is to rest. You may want to make sure you don't lean your head back on something that tends to make you drowsy.
Then you wiggle your toes and hands, start moving again, take a few deep breaths, and finish the meditation. So now you can notice how you feel now. (soft instrumental music plays)
