Mar 09, 2024
Hello everyone, my name is bree and welcome back to my channel breezarts. Alright guys, welcome to my first new content video of 2022 and we'll start this year with some kind of Valentine's Day projects. I'm going to lie, I'm not a big Valentine's Day person, however, the projects we're bringing you today can definitely be done for Valentine's Day, but I thought I'd make projects about

love

that you can have in your

home

during all year. A lot of time, for these projects today I'm using things from Dollar Tree, Dollarama, Amazon, Walmart and some wood I found around the house.

It's like a smorgasbord of things I already had in my stash and for those of you. In the United States, I know you don't have Dollarama there, but there are ways you can make the base pieces I'm using or you can substitute things. I'm sure there are beautiful things at Hobby Lobby or Target. Dollar Spot or Dollar General places that we don't have here in Canada that you can use in place of my Dollarama items, so with all that being said, let's get into the first

love

theme DIY and here we go with love theme number one .

Alright everyone, we're going to use one of these little boxes that you get from the dollar tree and I know a lot of other makers have done this a few times, but I thought I'd do my own spin on making these little stacks of books. so I'm just taking my white chalk paint and we're going to paint everything with that white and then, uh, these dollar tree rubs, I can't get over how incredibly beautiful they are and that's all I'm doing. I'm just taking some of the words here, this one says jetem, which means I love you in French and I guess we're going to put that in our main book, and you know, just taking my Cricut scraper and rubbing it on these rubs is amazing. you know, if you miss a spot or whatever you can put it back, line it up, make sure it's all right and rub it again, it's very

easy

to use, same goes for this little xoxo with a little flower using my scraper of cricut rubbing it and you can see there how I lay it back down and then I rub the little pieces that I'm missing and then the final xoxo at the bottom now I wish I could find it, I've seen it in many the hallways those little stacks of books that actually They look like stacks of books from the dollar tree and I've been to the dollar tree there are four in my city I've been to three of the four and none of them have them like this You know I'm going to have to try the fourth one, but we'll see, and here you can see I used a little more of that rub on top.

There are a lot of scripts of that rub. just absolutely stunning these are so beautiful so here I'm just taking a little angled brush and using a little bit of black chalk paint on there. I'm just trying to give the books a little more definition. you know, go in between them creating a little bit of shadow with my black chalk paint there, just a little bit, and you know these books would be perfect like they're perfect on a shelf, they're perfect on a tear tray, all That's so so so pretty and now I'm using this burlap ribbon that I bought at Dollarama and I'm just taking it, I'm hot gluing them on each end and wrapping it around the bottom of the box there and then putting it on top and then taking some lace ribbon.

This is also from Dollarama. I know you can get something very similar at Dollar Tree and then just go around one side again and hot glue it around the bottom. that box like that and then I made a very, very simple bow with that lace ribbon there and I hot glued it to the top of our books and now I'm taking some Nantucket blue, you know this is my absolute favorite color me too. I'm so happy to be DIYing with it again and I just painted one of these wooden hearts that I bought at the dollar tree and then I just used a chippy brush here and distressed it a little bit with my white chalk paint and then I just go hot glue it directly to the ribbon and this is done, this little stack of books, guys, I think it's very nice and here we go with love theme number two, so look at this, guys, I have these, actually , believe.
I picked up three of them, just these signs, they were from Dollarama, four dollars each, but look at the quality, they are absolutely crazy and you saw that I used my sanding block and sanded some of those letters because I'm going to paint some of these, um, these boards of this sign, um, and I'll leave some of them blank for you to see once we get started here, so I painted a couple of the boards with white chalk paint and a couple of them with my Nantucket blue and you know, I just pick the ones you know I want to paint any color and you guys like I said I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day so I'm trying to make these projects fit with my

decor

you guys know I live on a lake so a lot of my

decor

is kind of beachy or coastal and I'm just trying to let you know that I love the coastal

themed

vibes here and I love how this turned out so I'm just using some strips of a paper that I got in a uh like a book or a pack at Michael's house, I think it's called the farm pack, um and I'm just making them fit on some of those boards there and then we're just going to take some mod podge and mod podge on those particular pieces, so I use my mod podge a good amount because this is like a thicker paper so you want to make sure it sticks really, really well and then of course I go over the top of that scrapbook paper with a little bit more mod podge just to make sure it's nice and sealed and then do it on another board now again i bought this piece at dollarama you can use paint sticks to do this so just cut it up you know a bunch of paint sticks and join them together with hot glue or wood glue or whatever you want to do to get this exact look.
I'm lucky to have a dollarama and I bought these cards at Walmart so I think they were a I think it's $47 each and just xoxo now a couple of the ones you'll see here are covered like burlap so I'm just taking a bit of my white chalk paint because I did it. I just wanted to wear them down just a little. a little bit more and give the edges a little bit more, you know, dimension a little bit more depth in the piece, so very, very lightly with my chippy brush and using that white chalk paint and I'll do it on one of the x and in a. of the or, all these details, guys, every little detail makes everything come together, so this wooden sign I bought at the dollar tree and you'll see here like I'm lining it up, you know, figuring out how long I want it.
So I just marked it with my pencil. I have no idea exactly how long it is, but I just wanted it to, you know, not cover everything completely and for my letters to fit in there too, so I'm just. Using my rotary blade, um, sanding it and then painting it with my white chalk paint, doesn't this give you sort of beachy vibes? And you guys use whatever colors you want if you want to use the traditional red, white and pink or even like. a red, white and black that would look amazing, to keep with the Valentine's day theme, absolutely, you can choose any colors you want, that's the beauty of DIY, so here I'm just arranging my letters and gluing them on hot on that little piece of wood look how cute these letters are Walmart guys okay and just know I'm trying to center this right now this is where I should have put the tower blocks that fall directly into the back of the sign.
After putting them here I had to rearrange them a few times, like you see here, taking them off and then I had to re-glue them because they were sticking out a little bit, but you know, trial and error, everything works, oh and look, I'm taking it off too, oh Omg please do as I say not as I do put it on the back of the white sign and then I just stick it there and rock and roll that's it so these particular signs come with their own hanger twine or jute cord, so I'm just using my staple remover to remove it and I'm going to use the exact same twine on the other side so I have the option to hang this. sign, I think this would actually look really beautiful on my deck in the summer, so maybe that's a place for it, you know, once the weather warms up, so I'm just using my staple gun to put that there and that's it. guys it's all good guys I'm just popping in real quick just to say I hope you're enjoying these love

themed

DIYs and I also have a little secret well it's not a secret because I posted on my community tab about but come here I have 15,000 subscribers I can't believe it guys seriously I know I've said this many times but I'm here because of you and I appreciate you guys so much I can't do it.
I don't even think I can put into words how amazing this whole experience has been, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much, as always, for watching, subscribing, liking, commenting, for all your kind words, it means a lot to me. and you guys, having said all that, let's get back to those DIYs, okay, here we go, I love DIY topic number three, so let's do it now. I have three of these hearts from Dollar Tree here, although I'm only going to use two, but um. I take these hearts and I'm using my old Waverly wax and I'm just going to take a baby wipe or paint it first.
I paint it? Yeah, I paint it first and then I'll take the baby wipe and the washcloth. Trim off the excess so it gives you that really nice dyed effect and of course like with these cutouts the edges will always be darker because that's where you cut right so the tops are nice and sanded and will be slightly colored different. but I love that it gives it the right dimension and makes the piece a little more interesting, so I did that with all these hearts here and now I'm taking my sanding block and just removing a little bit of that wax. the edges there again, you know, make it look a little more woodsy and rustic and now I'm taking a little bit of this baker's twine.
I'm pretty sure I bought it at the dollar tree too and will pass it through the hole in the heart. and then I'm going to tie a knot in the center and I'm going to use some masking tape to make it easier for me to thread my wooden beads through. I bought these wooden beads from Amazon. I'll try to unite them under you. Guys, there are a lot of them on Amazon and these little wooden rings, oh my gosh, I bought them at Dollarama, they are amazing and they come in three different sizes, oh I'm going to use them, oh I have so many ideas, and you guys I can see there, you know, putting on a bead and then guessing exactly what I was going to do, so for the rest of this strand I'm hot gluing an extra piece of my baker's thread to that top bead there. so I can do a hot glue braid and then I'm going to braid them just to braid these three pieces here removing the tape first obviously what am I doing?
Oh, I wanted to put, I wanted to put. another bead on the first one okay come on sorry guys oh my gosh I just tied a knot there and now I'm going to braid take that cheese off and now I'm going to make a braid with this baker's thread just a braid really simple, not too

high

up the strand, braid, braid, braid, just gives it a little more interest, a little more texture, and then I tie it on top and I'm going to put another piece of masking. tape on the end and thread one more bead through the top and that's it for our first little hanging heart decorative piece, isn't it cute?
It looks so cute. I love it. Well, that's the first one. Now with the second one, I took a little. um just branches from the garden and I'm using my miter shears that just cuts these branches no problem and I'm just making these little like tiny pieces because I'm going to make beads with those pieces of wood and Again with my baker's twine, same thing. , you guys put it through the hole, you make a little knot there and then you take some masking tape, throw it on the end so it's

easy

for me to thread my beads and here you can see how I make the beads with these, you know, just pieces of wood, using my electric drill, drilling a hole in there just like that and I'll do it with a couple of these pieces here and then of course I'll blow out all the wood chips. away, no wonder my craft room is so messy after I'm done and just passing that on and like that, throw in a few more of those or one more of those um little rings, those wooden rings like that, look, it's so pretty.
I love this and then I tie a knot, put another bead on it and that's it. Look at them, they are so cute. I can't wait for you to see them. Okay, everyone, the last one, love theme, DIY, number four, okay. I have these, I think they're one by four, one by four, um and I'm using my Nantucket Blue first and you know, I'm just doing a very, very rough coat, you guys, it doesn't have to be full coverage on these pieces. of wood because I'm going for, you know, a kind of rustic beach effect on this decor piece too, so I do the top and the sides, but I just left the back because I thought that's okay, it's really a very nice wood. pretty.
Okay, and then I'musing my Waverly moss green color and you know, I just do the exact same thing with a very rough coat and then make sure the sides are done on the top and bottom and then I also do the last one with my white chalk paint and there We go and we just sand everything bringing out the edges you know the drill. I love doing this to give it a rough effect, it doesn't have to be perfect by any means and I did that. that for all of them the sense and the sand brings out those edges and I love these colors together guys oh my gosh but again if you want to do this in the traditional Valentine's Day colors that would be absolutely beautiful I'm just doing this .
For you know to match my vibe and match my

home

decor and of course you know these are my favorite colors so I'm taking my gorilla wood glue and some hot glue and this is how we're going to adhere these pieces together of course wood glue is long term hold the glue hot just so you can continue working so it stays there right away and make sure you don't mix the glues supposedly they won't stick properly if you do that and then you just wipe away any excess glue that may be peeking out of the front so I cut these decals on my cricut and love is right from the cricut design space I'll put or I'll try to put the fonts I use it down in the box description, but this says love never fails and this is just you know, a permanent black vinyl that puts it there to make sure everything is lined up on the right side of the piece and these fonts just stayed like that. great together, I love it and now here I'm taking some twine, this is from the dollar tree and I'm just going to wrap it around, you know, a few times, throw some hot glue on the end of the back, um and then, yes. just wrap it up, you know, I think I did it five, five times, maybe and then I hot glued the last little bit there, cutting off the excess and that's it, and then I used my lighter just burning or burning, um, everything you know erase the bigger ones I use my scissors to cut, but you know, burn them to make them nice and clean and then these beautiful ones, I guess maybe rattan hearts, wicker hearts, um, I also bought them at Dollarama, I thought they were perfect for this project, just great. stick them there, isn't it so pretty? it's so pretty and it's so simple and then you just grab a couple of those jenga blocks um put some hot glue in there so this will stand on its own and this piece is done guys it's so easy. and it's so beautiful, I love it so much, it's so pretty, okay everyone, that's for our love themed DIYs for Valentine's Day, I love how they turned out, they're perfect all year round, you guys, not just in Valentine's Day, I think every day. we should celebrate love and that is why I am absolutely in love with these decor pieces.
