your

self, you find a lot of peace because you know exactly who. you are when you abandon

your

mind says we're done so it doesn't expand there is no expansion when you abandon your mind it takes control of you you have to say I run this you have to tell your brain where you want to go and how you want to go and how you want to get there stay strong that warrior mentality I'm so proud of I wasn't boring with that I wasn't always this strong guy you see I went through a lot of tough times in my

life

to get here today what

change

d me was I had to be tough with myself and I have to continue grinding myself into fine powder.
a few minutes can change your life david goggins motivation
The only way to find myself was to subject myself to the worst possible. He was a scared and uneducated child. that I stuttered and I had to look in the mirror and take responsibility for who I wasn't and who I wanted to be, nothing was coming back to save me, so I realized I just saved myself, you gained knowledge through suffering and in the Another extreme of suffering is a world that very few, very few, have ever seen. It's a beautiful world because that's where you find yourself, you have to get into that hellhole of a

life

that you have, fix it and that's what I'm here for. doing it is a difficult journey it is a real journey it is a journey that will take you far beyond being comfortable we all seek toughness we all want it but we look for it in a comfortable environment you will not find toughness in a comfortable environment You have to do your best work when you are least motivated, so those days when you don't want to do it, guess what you have to do, you have to hold on and do it, you have to suffer to grow, grow.

More Interesting Facts About,

a few minutes can change your life david goggins motivation...

I have to suffer the things that I don't enjoy and that I still do, that's where the growth is and that's for me the only place where the growth is is in that uncomfortable zone, so you want to be normal, so you just want to be like everyone else. others who wander. The world doesn't know the power that's in them. It's okay with being mediocre. You want to go back to who you were. Hey, David doesn't like that man. I want my mind to know who's in charge, so for the better part of 26 years my mind was in charge of me, that's why I made all these horrible decisions, once you take control of your mind you start making decisions for yourself. yourself instead of your mind making decisions for you, so B, basically, many of us are not prepared for life, we get up. whether you want it or not and it is hope that life happens it is going to happen but it is going to happen with a prepared or unprepared mind most people attack life with an unprepared mind what I do is try to account for all the things that could happen could happen, probably will happen and then the unknown, so basically I can't account for everything, but I do know that some things will come up in life that you need to be prepared for.
a few minutes can change your life david goggins motivation
I know for a fact that I'm not going to do it. I want to exercise tomorrow so I'm preparing my mind for that I don't want to do that I know that tomorrow I will come with some difficult decisions to make it may come with getting a phone call saying that someone died this happened that happened I'm always preparing, not of in a morbid way, but like look man, get ready for life, don't let life start attacking you left and right, make sure you start building mental armor so that then you're ready for life and that's coming.
a few minutes can change your life david goggins motivation
In a very physical way and the physical helps the mental, I realized at an early age how changing myself was through discipline and the military didn't teach me that was something I realized. I had zero discipline, zero self-discipline and I realized. I have to start developing this and I really started because I was horrible at reading and writing. I have so many learning disabilities it's not even fun, so I just sit at the table and spend a lot of time reading and writing. and learn and that translated into my self-discipline with exercise, so that's where it started.
I started when I was about 16 years old. I said, well, I have a fourth-grade reading level. You know, let me go ahead and now. and start really concentrating because I'm not going into military CU. I have to pass the test, so that's where it started for me. It is more important to own your weaknesses. You gotta triple that stuff, man, because why? we want to become a complete human being we like to run away from weaknesses like for example if you are good at running all you want to do is run if you are good at reading you have several books but we don't do those things that we are not good at so for me I realized, man, I keep running away from these things that I'm not good at, I have to immerse myself in these things, I have to become one with these things and that's what happened and that's what I did.
I own both and speak very openly about both. I see a lot of people walking around here. We have no idea how talented they really are. I'm talking about Talent as a God-given ability that sometimes you have to have. refine, you have to work, you have to take advantage and they just walk around this on their phones with no idea how powerful they are, the most important thing you have to do is turn off the technology, you have to turn it off and what I mean by that is you have to be calm in your mind stay away from the people we love be around people we love talk love we love the parties we love all that it's okay to be alone it's okay to be unhappy it's okay to be unhappy sometimes man, it's okay Say you know with what a man I am, so first you have to go to the truth.
Who are you? Really hold yourself accountable and say: Well, who am I? What is the truth about me? Get to that dark place in your mind. Find out that it can take months. It takes years, find out your purpose, find out what you want to be in life and then from there, okay I have my purpose, it can take a long time, no one knows their purpose because it's too loud, find your purpose from there , okay, you have to start. Planning people love the planning phase because it is very comfortable, then from the planning phase you have to move to the execution, then the execution phase is the one we all hate because that is where the real work begins and that is when failure happens and failure and failure happens, but you know this is how you have to do it because every day is a battle, every day is a battle because your mind wants to choose the path of least resistance every day, but you don't improve because to do that.
Normal and I don't want to be normal so it may not be a life for everyone but I find a lot of peace in not being normal in my life so if you could define happiness for yourself what would it be? It takes whatever it takes to be at the point in your life where you don't care about being judged. You can be in a room with a million people and they all hate you and you come and go like this because not because you. You're mad at them because you know yourself inside and out and you know you've sent yourself to hell to be where you are today you've walked to walk you've talked to talk and you've walked the walk and For me that's what it's about, it's about putting those Bo boots on the ground and chase them every day and once you do you have a feeling about yourself that no one can take away from you or even understand that life is always giving you a test trying to give you a way out trying to give you an excuse to not show up you must have the mentality to show up every day of your life no matter what life throws at you, it is our responsibility to show the cisum of life the rhythm of life Me, the evil, I mean, I got knocked out in the Round 12 of a 15 round, you know, in a heavyweight fight, I got knocked out, but what happened was in the 12th round, when the challenger turned his back on me.
I was getting up and I got up and I won the next three rounds and I knocked that mother out in the 15th round, so that's my opinion that they can't hurt me. I was hurt, like I literally overcame so much in those first 26 years of my life and you still do it every day today you know it's not over but the mentality of you can't hurt me is just the issue what's in front of you man you got. to face you have to confront you have to overcome and move on so my father you know something about the kids that bullied me, my learning problems, all these things that I went through in life, the stuttering, you know, I had so many problems different, failing, failing, failing had surpassed them or they would have surpassed me.
I was able to look at my childhood and how I grew up as the best training ground for my life. Someone there has to be some people on this planet Earth who have my mentality as disgusting as for some people and no matter how far away and not understood, there have to be some people like Me on this planet Earth there have to be some Warriors who are capable of Take this mindset and do something with it so that right there, once you can look at your life and realize that all these bad things are actually the best training ground.
For what you are going to encounter in life, you begin to look at your past very differently. I'm still examining human potential. How far can the mind go? How far can we go as human beings? But it's amazing that once you take control of that question of how far you can go, go, go, at the end of the day I ask myself a question: can I go one step further? and usually the answer is yes, so if you can answer that question and not take another step, that's a real failure. quit smoking for real, so many people can take it a step further but choose not to.
I don't know if you can take two steps. You have to answer that question after you take the first step, but I can always take one more step, so if I choose not to, that's up to me and I have to live with that. Most people think I'm just a big animal running and screaming and this says mother all the time and that's not even close to the truth, that's maybe what they see in a minute. video that's what we believe, but there is a lot of thought behind a person being a born loser and becoming who I am today.
You don't just wake up and just Rocky, you have to wake up and think, you know there's a process to get better. to me like i built gawkin from scratch i was born

david

gogins

david

gogins wasn't good enough he was a scared, bullied and abused kid that kid every time something got difficult no matter how hard he trained no matter how prepared he was when something got tough for me David Goggin the real David Goggin would come out and he would quit so I realized this after a period of time so I had to build Goggin and in that process I have to go back to that mental laboratory and that mental laboratory is. that scratch that mental laboratory is not that trained humility and that is where I improve.
I get better when I'm digging holes in the ground when I get up early knowing I don't have to do these things, that's where it gets better, what do you think most people get wrong about

motivation

? They think it is a permanent solution. They think it's something constant. They think maybe once I get it, I'll keep it. Nothing is permanent. Nothing is permanent. and many times you have to learn to act without

motivation

, you have to learn to act without a purpose, you have to learn to do many different things and that is what people think that I need to have this motivation to exercise and study. to be better so if they don't have it they simply don't do it and that's where you fail you have to learn to train your mind far beyond motivation if you have motivation that's great that's a little fuel for the fire everything you know What you need is a little spark, you can burn down an entire forest, but you have to learn to exist without motivation, you have to be your best self and the least motivated and that is the complicated part of everything, that motivation is just a word that you must have.
These different things in your mind about where you want to go and knowing that motivation won't get me there because I won't always be motivated, learn to pick yourself up on your own, you have to be your own coach. I'm trying to edify people. I'm trying to shield your mind. I'm trying to make them believe because this world we live in is tough, it's tough, it will defeat you, the world and the life we live in is the best. competitor, he will find your weakness and he will just hammer you, so if I can help you build trust, build trust to the point where nothing can hurt you because you know exactly who is embarrassing you, it is one of the biggest things that kills people today in day. their minds prevent them from moving forward.
I'm ashamed of myself, don't be ashamed of anything you've done in your life, face it, fix it, do it better, you have to build a person that can withstand the pressures of whatever it is. you are going to deal with in life. I'm not trying to send a message of running 200 miles, being the bad son of a bitch in the world, but be tough, you better have a part of you that's tough, a part of you that can work through situations and get ahead. better and break situations very quickly within some trauma in your life some devastation in your life CU is going to come the devastation the trauma is going to come and you cannot allow that to become a t-shirt barrier, it cannot be abarrier t-shirt has to be something that you can go through very quickly and move forward, that takes a lot of toughness, unchosen suffering is going to happen, so the only thing you can do is have chosen suffering to prepare for it, that's the only thing you can do . what I can do, that's the only thing you can practice for unchosen suffering is having chosen suffering, doing something that sucks every day.
I know there are so many people who have the ability and simply refuse to get off the couch. They refuse to do it. I study a few more hours I refuse to go deeper to go further and that's where I get the advantage, it's very easy to be great nowadays, my friend, because most people are weak, most people don't want to make that extra effort, most people don't I don't want to find that extra because it sucks, it's miserable, it's lonely, you become very, very powerful when you surpass yourself, you have to want it, you have to want to be better and it starts with, you have to be proud of yourself, you have to have pride in yourself you have to have there is something in you whether it's your last name whether it's the smallest thing you have to be proud of yourself and if you don't have pride in yourself you won't I can give it to you because you're always going to compromise you're always going to compromise I'm very proud of myself now I don't talk about the bad Pride the attention to detail for the human being I want to make I call this what I want to be the standard I want to be that guy Like everywhere I went in the military there was this spirit about how this place is how we're going to live how we're going to represent ourselves and I walked around and I saw that most people didn't live up to that spirit. , like if you go to any company, they have this mission statement about how we want to run our company, I made one for myself about how I want to be and that's why if people can make up a mission statement in the spirit and which one they want live and every morning you wake up you take responsibility for it not being a company of yours create your own mission statement what you want to be in life and once you do that now you can work with someone To improve, you can work with yourself to improve, but until you know what you want to defend, you will always be sitting, you will never defend anything, your mind takes control of you, you have to say that I run this mother. and that's what it's all about, you have to build a person that can withstand the pressures of anything that you have to face in life because this world that we live in is tough, it's tough, it will defeat the world and life. the one we live in is the greatest competitor you have to suffer to grow to grow you have to suffer the mind has the tactical advantage over you at all times at all times in your life the mind has a tactical advantage over you why does it know this? what you are afraid of knows your insecurities knows your deep, dark lies and starts to walk away from it pushes you in a direction that is comfortable for you your mind takes control of you you have to tell yourself I run this mother when that alarm clock goes off at 4 :00 or 5 in the morning your mind says don't you just say this just what we do is what we do now because to get to where you want to go the amount of pain involved I'm not saying physical, I'm not saying you have to break up with the amount of mental pain of how many times you will have to do something you don't want to do to get where you want to go, there will be more times you do something you don't want to do than you will want to do it, that is your new norm, that is your new norm and then once you do this over and over again, it becomes like breathing.
I do not do it. I want to live this lifestyle but to get to the other side of this I have to the only way to get to the other side of this journey is that you have to suffer to grow to grow you have to suffer we have the ability to go to a space like this if you are willing to suffer and I mean suffer, your brain and your body, once connected, can do anything. I'm trying to strengthen people. I'm trying to shield your mind. I'm trying to make them believe because this world we live in is tough, it's tough, you will be beaten in the world and the life we live in is the ultimate competitor, it will try to eliminate you, it will find your weakness and it will just hammer away.
So if I can help you develop beliefs, build trust to the point where nothing can hurt you because you know exactly who you are, you have to build a person who can withstand the pressures of anything you are faced with in life. you gain knowledge through suffering and at the other end of suffering is a world that very few, very few, have seen. It's a beautiful world because that's where you find yourself every day, you have to do this because when you stop doing it you don't do it. just keep it if you stop shooting a gun you're not going to be a great shooter if you pick up a gun in a year if you want to be great you want to be a bad motherfucker at what you do you're going to be misunderstood by everyone because you're going to be very obsessed and motivated to get there, that's what it takes every second of your life.
Anyone says balance, yes balance is important to a lot of people, it is, but if you want to reach that limit. where people don't like you they don't understand you you question everything you do you have gotten when they misunderstand you to the point where people think you are a psychopath and that you are crazy and that you are this and that why you are in the gym at the 1:00 in the morning you will never understand what is happening to me and that is why I am so glad that you don't understand because I am in the right place when people no longer understand you, you are in that place of obsession and impulse where people like what's wrong with this guy I don't want to talk to you because you won't understand I can't understand this paragraph I don't remember what's in this paragraph to pass this test to enter the army read it again I still don't understand it read it again but if I don't you're understanding write it down and that's how I started learning I can't swim I'm floating negative come back again I can't swim come back again come back again come back again I got it, I find that if I keep going back and back and back until it just goes away become your mind will say: okay, let's figure it out because he's not going to stop it's not that he's going to try one more time no, I'm going to go it's like the alarm clock is ringing Boop let's go back I can't read well let's go back no I gave myself no way out and my mind realized that they said, "Okay, let's adapt and overcome." Now a lot of us want to find peace first, so people say, man, you always talk about this suffering and pain, and I'm at peace right now because I went through that. that you don't find peace first if you do Merry Christmas, more power to you I found peace at the opposite end of finding myself and no one really finds it without going through trials tribulations suffering responsibility and accountability is suffering being responsible everyone the days to do right for you for the people next to you is measurable one thing we don't do is we don't have a new norm my new norm is that you get up every morning at 4:00 and suffer this is your new norm that became my new life most people want out of it I said no mother this is your new life this is what you are your new norm is that you wake up and suffer and I began to realize if that is my mentality this It's no longer difficult not to give civility, it's about having a wild mentality, it's a comfortable world, many of us say, you know, like for example, I see these athletes right now that are retiring, you know, I'm 38, you know, I'm 39 , I did it 20 years ago. at the top of my game and I'm relaxing now you see them a year later and what they look like what the hell just happened to you what the hell you're one of the greatest athletes of all time kids looked up to you women men of all ages looked up to you and they reached the Pinnacle where it is time to retire and your mind says I am civilized.
The worst thing that could happen to any human being is for them to become civilized. It's that total responsibility, even when you retire. There's a mother watching me and judging me right now man I was the baddest person that ever lived it doesn't go away man you gotta wake up even though you retired you never retired you're setting an example every day of Your Life and being civilized feel so good, but I'm sorry man, once you get to the top, you can quit, but you'll never go home, man, because now they judge you, people see you falling, you want to be that guy. who knows, I may be retired from the sport or done for good, but I'll be damned if you ever see me wanting to not arrive people, I've arrived, I've arrived mentality, you're always leading by example, civilization feels like that .
Well these comfortable feelings are what people want, they want retirement, they want, they need, it's a feeling of longing, I want it too, people love to put a label on me about my God, man, you're just different, no different, friend. I'm thinking right now, after I got over my stuttering, now I'm on a good streak, now I'm fine, you know, I'm thinking right now. I have to wake up tomorrow and do the same thing again. I have to leave this interview and go stretch for two and a half hours. I hate that, but guess what it does, even though I constantly feel numbed by the victim mentality I once had growing up every day.
You have to do this. The only way to avoid getting rusty is to constantly owe that machine mother the machine is this you have to keep challenging it every day how do I do it how can I do what I do on a daily basis you know how I fight the demons because you hear me talk and I'm very Raw and real, how do you fight my insecurities? All these things and uh, they're there every day, they're there every day. I'm looking for a feeling. I'm not looking for a trophy. I'm not looking for love. I'm not looking for more followers on Instagram or social media when I started this journey years ago and I realized that I'm going to be someone and I'm looking for a feeling, a real feeling. victory for me and only me the moment I exclude the whole world and realize that one thing is that I am alone in this world, I am fighting this race alone, yes it's all about people, it's all about of equipment.
What matters most to me is that, but what matters most to me is right now and in my life no one knows the truth about me, how hard I work. I don't care if anyone knows. I don't want anyone to know that I'm an introvert. I live an introverted life and I love that about myself, that's my fuel. I know there really isn't anyone out there grinding like me and if that's the case then so be it, if I hear from you I'll make sure that's the case. my gang, that's what mentality is about, this is all a matter of mentality.
I see myself as the weakest person on planet Earth. I was just an insecure, scared kid and the only way I could find myself was by going through the worst. possible, my goal in life was, in my mind, to believe that I'm the toughest man in the world and that's why this whole thing is you can't hurt me, that's what it's about, it's about whatever you think you are , you have to make that dream come true, but that's where the hard part is is making that dream come true, that's where the hard work comes, that's where people know how you keep working every day, you have to make those insecurities, those fears, like when I was 300 pounds, I had no drive.
I'm going to be a Navy SEAL What kind of stupid is it that 300 pounds wasn't like a push to be a Navy SEAL? I was an insecure, lying child who was afraid of having to look into my insecurities and my fear and find momentum. in that we all look for passion passion is around you you have a lot of it around you it's your insecurities everything you have to dive deep into that it's all there all the energy fuel you need is right there yourself, it's all there, you have a lot of things to do to overcome and you know, that's where I found it.
I found it right there, in my own insecurities. I found Drive in my own insecurities and that is the most powerful thing in the world when you can. find Drive in your own doubt fear insecurities you become very unstoppable let's say you're in the hospital bed and you're preparing to die and someone walks into the room and you have a copy of your book and it's right there on the table and you're taking your last breath and you are talking to this person you say I want you to read this book while you are dying think about this that book that you just wrote Would it

change

your life forever and if it is not changing your life forever you have to rewrite your book you have to start to rewrite it right now I wanted to live my life in a way that when I died I would be proud of myself I know what Pride feels like and if it was necessary to push myself to death I was willing to do that, but I want to look in that mirror, not impress to no one, no money, no fame, nothing, I wanted to impress the guy in Dagon's mirror and I worked endlessly and tirelessly to achieve it and it happened, I see. what's not the norm what's impossible with all theists they say you shouldn't do this that's the wrong way to go and I say H let me see if I can do it it's very easy to be great nowadays my friend CU most of people are weak most people don't want to make that extra effort most people don't want to find that extra because it sucks, it's miserable, it's lonely.
I really started to enjoy seeing what the mind was capable of.human and seeing what is so horrendous there is so much joy and glory in this the most important conversation is the one you have with yourself you wake up with it you walk with it you sleep with it eventually you act accordingly sometimes you act good sometimes bad, you have to change the internal dialogue, that person in your head who is talking to you that until you change the internal dialogue in your head, until you are numb to the victim mentality that the world is after you because of you, you are the only you.
I have to change that man. I get it.mentality I once had that mentality that no one understands what's going on and if you keep that mentality you'll stay exactly where you are. I saw myself as the weakest human being on the planet and I wanted to transform him into the toughest man God has ever created your mind takes control of you you have to say I run this motherfucker you have to be your best and you are less motivated you have You have to have these different things in your mind about where you want to go and know that motivation is not going to get you there.
The only thing that changes your DNA is discipline. If you can manage to do things you hate doing, on the other hand, that's greatness. You have to be willing to fail. 100 times to succeed once and if you're not willing to do that, man, you won't get even a fraction of what you're looking for. There is a new bar that you must always set in your life and once you become complacent and become civilized you have arrived you are no good to anyone everyone's journey is different everyone's journey is different I was on a journey to see who It was David Goggins and that journey took me to some of the most difficult areas for a human being.
I can even imagine it and not, and I'm the happiest person on the planet because you know I had to leave every few times just to look down on my life. and see where I came from and that's what kept me going through all of this. Things like I imagined happening when I was a little kid and they called me all the time. My dad beat me up and I had no self-esteem. He had this vision of can I do it. where I want to go imagine when I look back on my damn life how proud I'll be and now that I'm here I can look back on this life I lived that a lot of people will never understand because why when you're passionate They think you're crazy and you can't even explain to people why you are doing it or why you did what you did because you found your purpose and once you find your purpose you can't really explain it to normal people because I don't understand passion because they live everyday life that they don't really find their purpose then I become a foreign language for people who think like that they put me in the category of you're just crazy no no no no I'm not passionate I found my purpose in this life if you want to be great, you want to be a bad mother, always in what What you do, everyone might misunderstand you because you will be very obsessed and motivated to get there, that's what it takes in the beginning.
The step you have to take is to face yourself and be responsible for what you are not so that you can be what you want to be. I called myself fat because I was fat and people don't want to do that, they want to say oh no. Don't call yourself fat, don't call yourself stupid if you're not real and raw with who you are, nothing is going to change and in this nice new world we live in we want to hear that you're just a little big, no. man, you can be fat, how you deal with it, you deal with it, you deal with it every day, you deal with it every day of your life, where you're like, okay, like you're fat, you need to lose weight, it's patience, it's Pence I in this fact. to accept who you are now I'm fat I don't like myself, except for the fact that if you lose three or four pounds it's a huge achievement.
I started to realize, man, just going to war with myself every day and setting these challenges and these goals and these obstacles these insurmountable obstacles so it was about losing H6 lbs me losing 5 lbs was an achievement me losing 10 10 lbs and then 50 lbs the more I did this the more I gained confidence I was just working I was just sacrificing and Then through that all these different tools started to emerge, but I never would have found them if I hadn't put myself in a very uncomfortable place. We all look for toughness, we all want it, but we look for it in a comfortable environment.
Not finding harshness in a comfortable environment those of you who are listening to this, who ever listens to this, you will not find it. I was trying to look for it everywhere. The only way they find it is by drowning in a position they just happen to be in. in a bad mood where you don't know how to swim and you're drowning you're drowning you're drowning in life but you say no what man' I'm going to figure out how to swim backstroke or something like that when when you leave your mind says we're done so it doesn't expand no there is expansion when you give up when you say uh-uh this sucks I'm drowning I'm miserable I'm suffering I'm broken but I'm not going anywhere what's going through your mind is that he does this he says he won't go away so we have to expand we have to grow We have to solve this.
We are only 1% away from true greatness. There is a big difference between 99% and 100. I always thought they had given me 100%. I wasn't, but I was only 1% away from making that money, from being where I want to be, from having everything I've ever dreamed of in life, but it's that 1% we sleep with. that 1% that we woke up with that morning we like you know what not today maybe tomorrow well guess what that's why it's so easy to be cool nowadays because most mothers are weak and if all you do is when you try to sleep button in life not in the morning in life just know this all it takes is to think about all those weak mothers who are taking a day off and believe me you will recover very quickly like I say it's easy Great today nowadays because the mother is just weak, very soft, well, I think you have to build beliefs, the belief is like there is a special belief after school where the mother says Bel in yourself and that's great, but there is also a constructed belief and the constructed belief is one in which you are constantly like to I come from a bad place.
The way I build my beliefs is through the daunting tasks I set for myself, so that's proof positive that I can, so it correlates and that's how this piece of shit kid I once thought I was, built my beliefs by saying “hm, it was.” In three hellish weeks I went to Ranger school. I tried for adter selection. A lot of undeniable evidence that is evidence, mother. So every time you think, when you think you can't, confidence comes from what you built, you have to build trust, you have to build trust. It can't be like, hey, I'm going to eliminate that, you have to look over here and say, I can eliminate that, it's a belief and it's based on what you put into yourself and one thing I was able to do was to dream I was able to dream out. of those Four Walls of that small town and until you are able to really put yourself into that dream, but don't make dreams your master, that's where you really become what you are meant to be, what you do. you mean, don't make dreams your teacher, a lot of people sit and dream of being a sports figure or dream of being a seal or dream of being an astronaut and all they are is a mother's dream, they don't put any effort behind the dream. that dream has become your MK Master when you become the master of your dream is when you say I want to be a Navy SEAL and you say okay, I'm going to lose 106 pounds in less than three months, the dream was the only thing you I thought and the dream is now gone now what comes in the dream is gone and the long list of details and tasks emerges I have to do this I have to do this I have to do this I have to do this that's when you become the master of your dream, so there are a lot of people dreaming that we are all cool, it doesn't matter if you think you're dumb, it doesn't matter if you think you're fat, it doesn't matter if you're fat, it doesn't matter if you've been bullied.
We all have greatness you just have to find the courage You have to find the courage to put on your B headphones and silence the noise of this world and definitely find it You have to be in a quiet place in your brain We all live on our phones We all live on Google which we all live in this whole social media world that I really hate, I absolutely hate why you can't find a purpose because in your head there's a lot of noise when I was younger and they called me they called me that because I had all that noise there the moment I put on those quote unquote Bose headphones and muted the noise I hear my inner voice half of us live our whole lives and we don't even listen to what the hell we want to get off the podcast don't be on social media too much delete all the noise goes back to the mental lab you don't know what you want to be because you haven't spent real time with yourself time with yourself, trust me and once you find that passion and that purpose, your goals, your purpose, everything will start to align. and then you will find the courage to begin that journey.
You have to believe that you are here on this Earth for a reason. and if you don't believe that you are here for a reason your life will seriously hurt and I started looking at my life and everything that I went through as God put some of God in me, every beli put me here to go through this and now I see all the hundreds of thousands of lives that I'm changing because of the hell that I went through, there's a lot of power in that, so my purpose when I started on this journey instead of seeming like it's me, God, man, why, why the man? why am I starting to watch since it's the perfect training ground you knew exactly what you were doing you knew exactly what you were doing obviously you put me in every possible situation to tell a story that needed to be told the reason my story resonates with people because I'm not hiding I'll tell you exactly who I am I'll admit it people are great at hiding so they just want to find peace no, you have, you have to take your fix, whatever's in there, don't just shove it under the rug, fix it and then you will find some peace.
How is he a 297 pound cockroach guy who gave up everything now he is considered one of the best men on the planet. How is that possible? one thing in my mindset I had to believe for that belief to work and through hard work I achieved it. I also believe that one day we will end up meeting a creator and I believe that that creator knows everything about you, everything about you he knows. I'll be here and I'll talk to you he knows everything and the only thing that scares me to death in my life is getting to heaven and not being what he's supposed to be and I think God has a chart and he looks at the chart and he puts what you have in front of you when you get to heaven, he says, hey, this is what you're supposed to be and one of my biggest fears in life was seeing that graph and not having all the blocks marked, you know, I want to make sure that I'm constantly chasing whatever I'm chasing, just constantly grinding myself into a fine powder, that's my purpose now, to continue pushing myself so that others can see what's possible.
Let's say you're in the hospital bed and you're getting ready to die and someone walks into the room and you have a copy of your book and it's right there on the table and you're taking your last breath and you're talking to this person and you say I want to. that you read this book while you are dying think about this that book that you just wrote would change your life forever and if it doesn't change your life forever you have to rewrite your book you have to start rewriting it right now you have to do the Decide if you want to be a tough guy or if you just want to be mediocre and everything is fine, but being a tough guy hurts a lot.
Life isn't fair at all, so what are you going to do about it? It shouldn't be fair. it's a testing ground it's a testing ground it's built to make us tougher it's built to make us as strong as we can to test ourselves and drive us so mindset is the only thing that gets us through life I was an underdog I knew that no one was coming back to help me, no one was going to give me a miracle to be someone special, everyone who called me, my dad, my mom, all my situations now depended on me and only me, so I had to start developing a box of indestructible mental tools, the most powerful. weapon in the world we walk with is our mind you have to believe you are here for a reason there is a reason they are beating me they are torturing me they are bullying me I am leaving without foundation I have to figure all this out My own discovery of this box of indestructible mental tools had to be for a reason and my reason that I now think I know for sure was to unlock the code of human potential and for me to share it with people, I am amazed at what a human being can do.
Actually, I literally made this human being out of a bunch of scraps and I started putting these scraps together and after a while I started learning more and more through the pain and suffering through all the failures I went through trying do it. building this person who is going crazy, the only thing that made me who I am today is being vulnerable, is breaking myself to the core and being able to tell people who I am and that's how I fixed it, literally, you know, looking at someone to the eyes. and say: you know whatman, I have a lot of character problems, character flaws, I've lied about this, I've cheated here, I'm, I'm insecure here, this is not the real me, I lied to you about what I wanted your acceptance in life life created this person me life life created me to be this good person I was in the past and I had to realize man, it's okay man, it's not my fault now I have to go back and fix this, although a lot of this is not your fault why you do some things you do why you feel the way you feel but no one is coming back to save you you have to go back to where the shit started wherever that place is for everyone and have the courage to go back there and start fixing it that broke you one of the things I fear most in the world is losing touch with the best in the world is your mind your way of thinking how can you imagine yourself how can you concentrate how can you drive how can you put yourself in so many situations get out of this because those headphones that we listen to those phones that we search on Google to find information there are so many situations in my life in which that is not going to help me, it is not going to help me because I know what has helped me, none of that has ever helped me , none of that has ever helped me, what has helped me has been me alone, putting myself together and being responsible for who I am not and who I want to be, so the only thing that has helped me, we all live in this world where our brains They keep us in this box, outside that box, on the other side of suffering, it's a world that has infinite opportunities, but we're afraid to get out of that box because in that box we're comfortable, that's where all our pretty things, you know, That's where the nice four lane roads are, I know where the bathrooms are, I know where the gas stations are, outside that box, man, God gives you a shovel and says, man, start digging, that's no fun, but when you dig, you dig your own way into all kinds of things that are unknown and that's why I started to realize that on the other end of this there are beautiful things, so I got out of my box and realized that it weighs 300 pounds, now look at me. 185 pounds and on the other side of the box was all this and I didn't know it was there until I scaled the wall and saw it.
I really started to enjoy seeing what the human mind was capable of, is seeing that. What is so horrendous? There is so much joy and glory in taking Souls. It's about finding energy and strength when you don't have it. There is energy around us, but we think we have to have it. It has to come externally. Many times we have like. a TV in front of us watching someone listening to a podcast listening to good music many times in life it is quiet and those are the times when you want to run and hide, you have to be able to find energy, you have to recover. games invent tricks invent everything you can to get to the next evolution of life when you're running you run for hours days that's what makes me so angry in this world is that so many people die with untapped potential because they think someone else is Fu better than them and they were born, you know, not with the best tools, you don't need, you need the ability to grind your ass into a fine powder and when you have that fine powder, find a way.
To rebuild that son of a bitch he repeated that you always have to be willing to work and now a lot of people are talking. I listen to a lot of conversations. I don't hear much work. I hear a lot of people telling you what you should do. how you should do it how you should live and I look at them and you're fat you're out of shape you look like this but you're telling a mother how to live in the West my mentality is too hard life is It's not fair that these things in life are not easy to me you look to your left you look to your right and you start judging yourself above others everything starts to corrupt your mind you start to look around too much at other people about what they are doing and that starts to corrupt your own dialogue, we are judging ourselves against too many people, you have to judge yourself against yourself in this race against David Goggin and David Goggin alone and once you can silence all that, all the outside interference. and the things that draw your mind towards everything you can then start growing we want to move towards peace, let's skip all this pain, suffering and misery of real life, let's cover it with a big blanket and find peace, no, sorry, it's not possible.
You have to get into that hell of a life that you have, you have to fix it and that's what I'm here for. You must go to war with yourself before you find peace. I'm trying to give you tools on how to do it. that and I'm not considering smiling and being happy about it it's a difficult journey it's a real journey it's a journey that will take you far beyond being comfortable you'll feel very, very uncomfortable I'm not a theorist people there a group of people who are theorists who go to the library they study the mind they study in a book that I studied as a practitioner.
I put my mind through hell and realized how I was thinking and discovered tools and tactics on how to achieve it. through it being in it, not studying it, being in it. I did 67,000 pull-ups in 9 months and my hands got stiff. My hands stiffened nicely to protect them against the bar. I started learning how to harden my mind to become desensitized to my victim's mentality and that's what I did and then they sent me to John Hopkins everyone studied my body they studied everything and one guy said you know what we can't find anything think about how you did all this, how can you?
Do all this, a boss came from MIT and said you know how he did it, so the mentality is the only thing that helps us in life and the mentality of you can't hurt me, no matter where you come from the gutter or where you are from . I think you're from when I came out of the sewer I got to the road and I looked around and I said you can't hurt me, nothing should be able to hurt you if you think that's starting to come true. I wanted to live my life in a way that when I died I was proud of myself.
I know what Pride feels like and if it was necessary to work myself to death, I was willing to do it, but I want to look in that mirror, not impress anyone, not the money, not the fame, not anything I wanted. to impress the boy in Dagon's mirror and I worked endlessly and tirelessly to achieve it and it happened that I actually lay down when I was fat disgustingly out of shape miserably and I created a human being in my mind that didn't even exist and I said that's what I want to be I want to be that guy I want to be a guy who is capable of doing exactly what I'm doing today if you weren't born that guy that mentally strong guy can be done, but by becoming that person you have to be who you are every day of your life and never worry about anyone standing in your way and saying you're not doing something the right way when they beat you up as bad as I did.
I lied as long as I wanted. being accepted and loved and all that shit I created about 50 people whatever you want I like just be my friend and that's where we get lost in life you start creating a bunch of people that aren't even you you never imagine you find out who you are you never live up to your dreams you are ambitious you live up to whatever is around you that you like so much that you want to emulate and be like them so much you live their dreams you lose your power you lose your power, the supreme power is in you yourself, so how did you get to where you are?
I became emotionless and what that means is I'm not saying turn off your feelings towards your family, your wife, your husband, I'm not saying turn off your feelings towards your family, your wife, your husband. dull feelings when it comes to wanting to be better who's going to carry what that means is when the alarm goes off your feelings have to go it's raining outside it's cold outside when you don't want to spend those long hours At that job, that's what I'm talking about, Your feelings must disappear when you know that everyone has gone home to their families, but you know that you want to be the best salesman in the world or you want to be the best lawyer in the world that is when everyone goes home and there is only one light on in the world. the 15-story building and only one office, each office is dark, there is an office with a light on and when they leave the club they look up every day. 2:00 in the morning see the lights always on that's the mother right there you have to be you can't have feelings about when everyone leaves oh man I wish I could go home to my beautiful family that's true but you have to learn to shut up your feelings if you want to achieve greatness hope will not take you everything happened for me and we always resort to what is comfortable for us what is comfortable for me was if it is easy for me you know I am I was going to do it and when I was going through Rescue Training P I ran into an obstacle that I didn't think I would overcome and that was water.
I hated water but I tried really hard to get over it. and I would go to the pool and I would try and try but my mind wasn't strong enough David God, even with all the discipline I didn't have that next level when you're really committed to something it's not like you're As you know, I want to be a doctor. , but when I hit this roadblock, I don't want to be a doctor, no, I'm going to be a doctor, in hell, I needed that kind of commitment and David Gogin didn't need it. I didn't know about that commitment I knew how to wash a car I knew how to clean a house I knew how to do all this manual work but when it came to real suffering even the highest suffering didn't have that The next level is okay, mother, we have the next level .
David Goggins wasn't enough so I went into my mind lab and realized I want to be great but I don't have greatness in me so I had to create a mother who was Great and in my mind I'm very big on visualization and people believe that everything is believing what you want. I don't care, this is true, man. I entered my mind and said. Okay, I want to look. That's how I want to feel like that and I want to have a mind that is made of cast iron, steel that is never boring, that is always sh, that was the biggest thing I wanted.
I wanted to overcome obstacles that most people accept, including me, but I did it. I didn't hesitate, I wasn't afraid, I didn't run away, I just stayed and marinated in the fear in the suffering and through that building goggin I will become goggin when necessary and I started doing these things on my own. I have mine. training camp I built a training camp It wasn't Navy Seals if you go to Navy SEAL training you're not prepared you're going to quit so I built this training camp on my own and I started doing these horrible things that David Gogin could do.
I couldn't handle it, but Gogin slowly started to appear. I started putting in that visualization of the type I wanted to create and in that water, when things got tough and I was training, my own goggin would appear. goggin appeared when David goggin appeared. Goggins stung him. At the down they said no, we're going to drag you through this and that's how it happened over a period of time, this man evolved, Gogin became the guy who can endure all kinds of torture and pain and keep chasing you and there is where the next step with Evolution went well.
I put it this way, man, a lot of people say don't be like him like me and I get it and you're like, it was worth it, it was worth it. I'm going to challenge these people, people who I say is too much, which is why most of my message is for everyone. When it comes to the uncommon of the uncommon, it's only for the 1% and these are the people who want to be the uncommon of those who speak UNC. about Grover Michael Jordan is in that category they are those people who realize what they want and beyond all things I am going to achieve it so if you don't want to be like me I understand it but is it so bad that a person has millions of dollars in the bank Is it so bad that a person has two of the best books in the world?
The first on the list of all time. Is it bad that a person has broken all kinds of records? Is it bad for a person to have been in the Navy? SEAL Army r laugh going to Delta Force training going through the Air Force smoke jumper it's so bad it's so bad that at 40 7 years old you're trying to figure out what to do next it's so bad because you've done everything in the world because the second you thought about it you did it yes that's bad I don't want to see what good is then why is it bad for most people because it seems exhausting and it's exhausting and that's why it's bad for most people people, most of the things that are bad for people is because they can project what it takes to get there and as they project that, they say oh man, you're destroying your life, your health, you don't have a family, you're unbalanced, I can make a million. things but the real thing is what you projected what that looks like and it seems like hell it seems like hard work it seems like suffering it seems like a dedication that people don't understand and that's what it is but that at the end of everything that my friend I carried my life in front I carried everything what I wanted to do I did it the second I thought about it no 47 I'm 100% retired and I still live like I'm not by choice your brain is the most powerful weapon in the world once you put away your phones and your computers and everything we have Nowadays yes, it's great, we are updated, you know it, but your brain is whatonly thing you have when you're going through depression when when you're going through hard times when you're going through death in real life you can't Google that guy you're alone you're alone you may have a psychiatrist that you're going to go to you may have a best friend that you're going to go to but there's 24 hours a day where you're alone in this brain and your brain talks to you in so many ways and it wants to control you and put you in these different pockets if you can't control your own brain and your brain. it controls you you have to tell your brain where you want to go and how you want to go and how you want to get there you have to control it otherwise it's over what existed for me it was okay man how am I going to do this? work and all I knew back then was hard work, the only way to achieve something, that's all I heard in those days, you have to work hard, you have to work hard, I don't understand how to do it, I can't understand this paragraph .
I don't remember what is in this paragraph to pass this exam to enter the army, read it again and I still don't understand it, read it again, but if you don't understand it, write it down and that's how I started learning. Well, I can't. I have to write down everything I do and then write it down.write it down again and write it down again and guess what happened I got it I got it I can't swim I'm floating negative go back again I can't swim go back again go back go back go back again I have I realize if I keep going back and back and back until it just becomes your mind will say okay, let's figure it out because he's not going to stop, it's not like he's going to try one more time, no, I will.
G it's like the alarm clock was ringing Boop we're going back I can't read well we're going back I didn't give myself any way out and my mind realized that they said well we're going to adapt and improve ourselves now like a lot of people say they try hard, your mind He knows it man he knows this guy is a fool yo man this guy lies there's no truth behind this when I was in the Navy still training people say how are you there for 18 months? The program lasted only 6 months. we were in three hellish weeks in one year no one has done that, how did you do that?
I'm talking about the new Norma when she lived in a $7 a month place and was growing up for a short period of time. I loved her. I don't know, I didn't know any different, that was my norm once we moved out of that place, we moved to a $236 a month place. I thought I never wanted to go back to that little piece of, but if you go back to that $7 month. place and you realize this is where I live, everything I have, your mind says, Roger, this is my home, so when I was training Navy SEALs for 18 months and going over all the hard parts over and over again time, I told myself after the The first time I knew it was going to be a long trip there, my body was breaking down, that's how it was happening.
I said, you know what my new norm is, so my mind said, it's like I'm going to work the way you do. to work, you put on the suit and tie, I suffer every day, every day, I suffer from being broken, taping my feet, stress fracture, shin fractures, this is my new norm and your mind He says if we are not broken, this is not normal, we have to be broken, then your mind starts getting harder and harder and there are more people C, how did you run with broken feet, broken shins, my mind knew that's how it is How do we operate, are we in, are we in the Navy, still training? this is who we are I became hell and that became my new norm I didn't give myself any way out there was nothing outside these walls of hell nothing I became I love God but for a short period of time I became in hell CU that was hell I became the boss, the owner, the CEO of Navy Seel Training, that was my way of thinking and that's how you overcome the things you put on, you immerse yourself in wherever you become, you become that and you have no way out when I was 297.
Pounds and very fat trying to be a Navy SEAL. The scariest thing in the world for me, even to this day, is that that could have been the rest of my life. I thought I was trying hard then. That's the scariest thing in the world. I thought then 297 pounds working for eolab cockroach fumigation made $1,000 a month. I thought it was me at my 100% potential. A few years later I discovered that I was nowhere near that 106 pounds lighter. The Navy graduates were still training. to do all these other things, looking back, that was me trying really hard that's why people have to understand what's in us, we have no idea until we start trying hard and I mean trying really hard what you're obsessed with, hey , this is my new norm my new norm is wow, this isn't always fun, it's not always meant to be fun and that's when you know you're trying really hard.
People hear my story and think this guy is sadistic. I realize how the brain works. I discovered how the brain works. I am a scared child and that is what gives me so much power. I had no foundation and I built this from Just investigating the mind, the feeling you get is basically invincibility, you realize you can't do it. all the time when you need to do it, I know that I can go to a place where I can live and when you know that you can run with broken legs and you can do certain things that a lot of people can do, but they are not willing to use this power, this system fight or flight sympathetic nervous, when you're fighting, it gives you this charge of energy from when you're sitting there at 3:30 or 4:00 in the morning and you're driving. bind your feet because they're broken and you're doing it alone and you're going through possibly one of the hardest workouts in the world and these guys, most of them are healthy and you're going through it broken and you're already at a disadvantage but you're still there, you can feed that and harness that to get a lot of power, but if you look at it, I'm broken, like I'm not going to make it, but if you look at it as a man, I'm broken and I'm still here and I'm fighting.
I'm going to find a way to get through this because I have nowhere else to go. It gives you a lot of power when things start to really suck. really bad my brain and the brains of many people they they they don't go to your dad hitting you your brain says let's get out of here this is miserable so the anger disappears many times when you're suffering because your brain just says we have to run we have to go so that the anger doesn't appear saying oh I'm going to show them I want to show those people no, there has to be something much deeper if I say deeper it has to be reduced to Mineral The mineral soil has to be that nice mineral soil where nothing can burn, You can't burn the earth, so it has to be so low that it's literally something in you that's at the center of your soul and but you, but you don't.
You won't find it unless you spend a lot of time with who you want to be in. life. I can't give it to you, you can't give it to someone when you find your true passion in life and my passion for I was like oh I want to be I give the Navy Seals Army I don't give a damn I want to serve my country I cared I want to be someone who be proud I want to look in the mirror because I was so disappointed in the mirror of responsibility I'm talking about. I was so disappointed with what I saw every day.
I wanted everyone to love David Goggins and a lot of people did. I didn't love myself, but I knew that many of us wanted to find peace. First, people say, man, you always talk about this suffering and pain, and I'm at peace right now because I went through that. You won't find peace first if you do. Merry Christmas, more power to you, more power to you. I found peace at the opposite end of finding myself and no one really finds it on their own without going through trials tribulations to suffer responsibility and responsibility is to suffer to be responsible every day to do what is right for yourself for the people next to you. it's measurable it's hard so you know even the smallest details buddy I'm not a masochist I'm not crazy I'm not this and people try to give me titles and label me when I was a kid I saw my mother get hit and I got hit and he was a little stutterer. black kid in all white school and I used to go home and cry like oh my god I'm awake I'm so awake so I had to train one thing you better train your mind because my talents can run out real early when they get difficult. for me in the past bro, I'm done, see ya, okay, I gotta invent a motherfucker who can, so I invented goggin, I invented one who realized that we're not good enough, but gogin realize that we are mentally strong like and let's make them stronger in the mind you need to work harder you need to discipline your mind better we need to help people more than just saying okay it's okay that you're not willing to help yourself that's not okay , it's okay.
It's not okay, it's not acceptable. I came up with this thing called acting without purpose and so many people need to have a 5k or 10K. I need to have a course in front of me. I need to have something in front of me for me. Move your butt. Get up and do something and that used to be me and nowadays, you know, for the last 20 years I don't need a purpose and people miss this man, purpose, we're all searching for this golden purpose. It is to make money, it is my mother, the purpose is you, we forget that every day I wake up and I don't want to do anything.
I'm like, okay, man, you wanna be a today? Do you want to feel like? a little bit you want to walk all day knowing that you could but you didn't so it's done without purpose you have to learn to get up and do it when you don't have a 5K or a 10K nothing nothing exists your life sucks you're in the dungeon, but guess what mother, you still do it I will get it because when that time comes because the time will come when that purpose is there, you will be ready, but most of us are not ready because I don't know how to do it without having the golden carrot in front of us and that's why all of you, every step that They go on that Journey, they're like to me, they run, I run every day, I hate it, but every step I take I'm like Okay, you're beating the demon again.
I made the decision and my decision was to be the best person I could be and basically a lot of mornings I wake up and say your feelings and that doesn't mean you know, don't take it. literally your feelings, but sometimes you have to go beyond what you feel and my knees were, but guess what I wanted to run and I knew okay, you can get knee replacements, this and that wasn't because I always ran with too many people. I mean, oh man, you ran so much you ruined your body. You know you don't want to be like David Goggins.
I hear all the time that you don't want to be like David Goggins. Say everything. I gave everything to who. I gave it my all and when you get it all, man, you have no regrets. People didn't understand me. People don't understand me now. I don't mind. I know exactly what I was doing. I'm not a masochist. I'm not crazy, I'm not this and that people try to give me titles and label me no, I had something to do the way I describe it to people when people ask me why he does all these things, which is which is the motivation here I think you are on a mental journey that very few people have ever been on because people don't understand you, or they misunderstand you, or they intentionally misunderstand the way you live your life, you are trying to understand your mind in some way. . that very few human beings ever understand their mind because you are taking your mind to these terrible Dark Places all the time and you are trying to get things out of there, you are trying to learn things about yourself and about your potential.
That's exactly what it is and that's what people don't understand. I studied the darkness. You, you, do not find answers in the light. None. He's too happy. It's too nice. We don't need to be taught how to live happily. That just comes. Naturally for us, the happy times, but the dark times, man, and you can't get there unless you put yourself there, life will take you there, but when you get to those dark times, that's where people, that's why, people, how are you capable?, man, I could. I don't read or write I was a junior in high school, how can you write like this son of a bitch man?
I go to those places in my mind and study the darkness as if it wasn't just physical when I was a kid and saw my mom. They beat me up and they hit me and I was a little black stuttering kid in all white school and I'm on stage and I have to say one line in front of 15 people and I go on stage, I stutter, all those insecurities. and all that stuff, man, I used to go home and cry like oh my god, man, I'm awake, I hang the man as I grew up, we gotta study this man, the only way we're gonna get through this if we study him. so whenever I'm in a dark moment and life is around me, whether it's physical or just life, I get into it, pen and paper man, I'm like, okay, this sucks.
I can feel like I'm missing my boat. study this, let's get out of this mother genius, I studied the black matter of the Mind, the dark matter, you know, like Stepen Hawkins, that's right, if that's his name, I said it right, I studied space and that's where I consider myself man and so many people. misunderstand I don't give it to aman you can't for me I can't help people there are many molds here in this world oh discipline wake up early take a cod shower this whatever it is it's not but what they do We don't teach you inside the cookie mold it's like if our minds were like a garage and the garage if you open a garage and it's all messy, everything is arranged, you can't put your car in there, you have boats and you have children's toys and everywhere, but if you organize that garage and put everything in its rightful place, you can put that car in there, you can put two cars in there, you can put bicycles in there and that's like with the Mind, people talk about discipline, determination, repetitions and all this coherence the reason why People get off the wagon so often it's because their mind is full of there's no room in that mind for discipline there's no room for consistency they can do it once or twice but then the mind takes over and that messy garage appears and then It's like a circuit breaker, a circuit breaker just overloads and it sparks and our minds, that's our mind, man, it's like a circuit breaker that has so much in it that you keep discharging it and you can't put any more into it, so I Have I talked a lot about That's right there, man, about clearing space in your mind so that you then have room for all that discipline that wakes up early and takes them because they mean something, but we don't get to that dark matter that is? preventing you from cleaning out that mental garage, that's a good way to put it because most people's minds are full of things that they have to move around to get to what they want and they're constantly piling up and there's a disorganized and organized mind. man, you're looking, I have to take care of the kids, the kids schedule everything my husband, my wife, I'm going to McDonald's to get this and I'm rushing my schedule, it's all just I wish I was doing this, but I'm doing that and that and this .
I want a raise, but I can't get it. boss, where is the greatness in that man? Yeah, you can't, you can't fit the discipline into it, you can't fit it into the structure, you can't fit it into the consistency, you can't fit it into the routine and then when you try, it's invaded by the clutter in your mental garage every time. Whenever I'm in a bad situation like you know, I study it and that's the only reason I have to do it is because I'm studying this because I know I never thought I was going to do it.
Writing books and trying to help people get better, but I always tried to do it because I knew I sucked, so when you know you're trying to get somewhere, you know you suck, you know you think you're a Born Loser, you're taking snapshots, man, like you know you see something on your phone like, oh man, I'm going to take a snot SN of that or whatever, you take the little picture so you can save it on your phone. I do it in my mind, so I enter into these moments. I'm like, okay, wow, that's some good insight, man.
I took it in a snapshot because I know I can use it later. I can use this because I'm not out there, I'm just not the most. people go out and run and go out and do it and say oh, this is beautiful, look at the mountains and all this, no, I don't like it, my body hurts, it hurts, how do we get there? Through this, it's a laboratory, it's my mental laboratory, so when I get home I don't forget it every day. I finish running every day. I finish working every day. I finish studying whatever takes me to that place of knowledge. so I come home from my run and get through it all.
People have talent and this goes beyond your talent when there is no more Talent. What's the matter? Most people quit. People only go to their talent level and once their talent level goes away, it becomes a mental game that all that mental game sets in at that moment and most people can only act on their talent and they give in. count man why am I always wrong here, why, why, this is my big obstacle, it's because you are acting according to your talent and then after that your mind has nothing for you I see fighters I see runners I see people who are great but they reach the edge of their talent it's like man, what's going on?
Because now you're at the point where being talented could do for you, my friend, now it's the mental game and that's where people get lost in life, they get lost at the next level and that next level I find for me. In the things I do, first of all, I didn't have much. talent, so I had to train one thing, you better train your M because my talents could run out very early when it was difficult for me in the past, brother, I'm done, I'm leaving, we look good, I have to invent one that can , so I invented Goggin, I invented a mother who realized that we are not good enough, but Goggins realizes that we are mentally strong and we are going to surpass these mothers in the mind and a lot of people just wanted the most easy.
Sorry man, it's not like that, what they start doing is building this narrative of it's okay when the narrative should be, you need to work harder, you need to discipline your mind better, we need to help people more than just saying it's okay, it's okay that you're not willing to help yourself that's not okay that's not okay it's not acceptable even if it's your life if that's if that's acceptable that's unacceptable and there are many people in this world, including me, who if I accepted, I would do it It won't be anywhere so yeah a lot of people just start creating a narrative about themselves that makes it the best get out of jail free card and now the world is set up to have so many free Gil cards it's all good and can.
I'm not saying anything motherly about it, man, why are you guys always yelling? This is how I speak because I am a proud mother. You know what I'm saying. I'm a proud son of a bitch man, it's not proud, look at me, it's like a mother. I know where this is coming from I shouldn't be here right now talking to you I shouldn't be talking to you I shouldn't be here I'm a careless fat man I'm proud so I can tell you I've been up many times People can, it's not real all those mornings in the that you didn't want to get up and I look at it like a rock and you find this rock and that rock is you and every day you fight not wanting to get up and you do it anyway, you cut another piece off that rock and every day you eat the right foods and Every day you go to train, you train more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and more and you get up earlier and all these things that you do to start training.
You are breaking another piece of that rock before you Realize, you have this beautiful piece of art that you built and then once you get there, you see it, it becomes real like, oh my God, he did this and that's how the journey becomes. So it is very real, but many people are not willing to crumble that stone that is them to begin to eliminate those rough edges, that is fear, fear never reaches your potential, that is what always falls short, you always give up before finish. always procrastinating, always not doing the right thing and then one day you're an old man, yeah, and you look back and say, God, it could have been great, yeah, it could have been great.
I never forget one time I was running by a cemetery when I was just trying to get fat and I ran towards a cemetery and I looked out and I have all these epiphanies man I have all these moments of like I'm crazy from this thought I'm always alone Always thinking deeply into how to be better. I look outside. I'm like a man. I wonder how many of you mothers are so upset with the way you lived your life and you just regret how you lived it and I'm running at 300 lb man thinking man don't die like that bro don't die like that then people wonder why where this comes from me it comes from such a deep thought of trying to see what this is all about what this life is about what I am It's all about why I'm here you know I had to find a purpose and my suffering had a purpose had a purpose many people build confidence in different ways and build belief in different ways coming from where I come from I don't I don't have any faith in myself so some people can go read a book and have confidence some people can go to take a yoga class, to have good parents, so where I came from was so underground that I had to build beliefs by truly rooting them. in my brain, so the things that I do, I'm always building beliefs every day and my belief had to be where it is because I was so down that it may be necessary to run 200 miles for me, it may be necessary to run 100 miles, it may It may take late nights at the gym, but without believing you have nothing and I realized that when I was a little kid I had no beliefs, I had to develop it and a mile run didn't do it.
I had to push myself to such extremes because I arrived. of people judge me for not knowing where I come from so unless you are me and you come from where I come from I guarantee you would have made it I guarantee it and I knew it so my belief comes from going I had to build it . and that's how I build it, man, I build it with the things that I do. I never cared about myself, never, ever, which makes what I do now for the people. I get it because I care about people, even though I'm an introvert.
I am introverted. Because my life sucked, but what I do for people I really do, that's why I want to make sure of that book and the things that I do, that's why I don't like it, why don't you sell it, why don't you always know why what, why AR? you like to promote this and that and no, man, no, I care that you understand that I want to see you kill, I want to see you better, the purpose is always there, the purpose never leaves us because the purpose is you, you are always the purpose that He Number one purpose in life is to improve yourself, but where are you going?
You wake up one morning. It's cold. It is wet. It is dark. You have no cartilage in your knee. You have shorts. Whatever it is, that is the problem today. keep talking I need you to keep talking about what you just said it's hot on the couch your M says stay in bed it's comfortable it's cozy you have to work later you had an argument last night you're a little hungover CU I I know not all mothers They're going to do what I'm going to do, so that's how you level up. This is how you level up.
I know there are a lot of people with that out there that excites me and makes me happy. I just said that it brings joy to my life, because I know there are so many people who have the ability and just refuse to get off the couch. They refuse to study a few more hours. They refuse to dig deeper to go further and that's where I get the advantage, it's very easy to be great nowadays, my friend, because most people are weak, most people don't want to go that extra mile, the Most people don't want to find that extra because it sucks, it's miserable, it feels lonely.
I discovered this more. Of us are only 1-10% away from greatness but we think we are so far from it that we never try and once I started going down this journey I started realizing that and those percentages started adding up and before My mind began to harden and I began to pass by so many different people who I thought were far above me and then before I knew it, I became rare of the uncommon. Life is a training ground, although you can live a long life. It doesn't mean you graduated at the top of the class, you just lived a long, boring, worthless life and that's not what I wanted to do when you're really committed to something, not like you know I want to be a doctor, but when I found myself with this obstacle I don't want to be a doctor, no, I'm going to be a doctor.
In hell, I needed that kind of commitment and David Gogins didn't know about that commitment. He knew how to wash a car. I knew how to clean a house, I knew how to, you know, do all these manual jobs, but when it came time for the real suffering to the highest suffering, I didn't have the next level, okay, mother, we have the next level, David. Goggins wasn't enough so I went into my mind lab and realized I want to be great but I don't have greatness in me so I had to create a mom who was cool and in my opinion I'm really good at visualization .
I went into my mind and said Okay, I want to look like this, I want to feel like this and I want to have a mind that is cast iron, steel that is never made, that was always the biggest thing I wanted. I wanted to hit obstacles. that most people included me, but I did not hesitate, I was not afraid, I did not flee, I simply stayed and marinated in fear and suffering. I want to quit smoking every day but many dreams die while I suffer and many of us here have suffered and when you are suffering, I don't just mean physically, I mean emotionally, spiritually, it could be a relationship.
When you're hurting, you give up the things you wanted most when I was going through PA rescue. I wanted to be a PA rescue man so bad, but the water was chasing me, so when the suffering was too much, my dream died and I almost died with it if I didn't find the Navy Seals and get through it. hump and overcome my demons and face them every day. I would never have been here today. You can't leave your demons behind. TheyThey will always know where you are hiding. Trust me. Don't stop when you're tired. stop when you're done, it's not putting yourself down, people take it the wrong way in this new society.
I'm not saying to put yourself down. What I'm saying is listen to the truth and the truth is not 20% of the truth. It's in this other part of your brain saying look man, you're wasting a lot of percentage here we have 80 more that we're not taking advantage of because in this other 80% is suffering pain failure failure failure self doubt darkness and then a lot of light, but to get to this light you have to go through all this, so many of us know that I can get here, but here man, this is much better CU, I have to go through this journey that is not fun this 20 to 100% this in the middle is not fun so we decided to live here there were so many times in my life growing up that I wanted to fit in and I wanted to be part of a group and I didn't I have some desire and I didn't have that desire so when you try to fit in, when you try to be great, when you try to be anything without having that inner dog that fights when things get difficult.
Difficult in life, all you do is give up when you have that inside in you like I have developed over many years, this dog begins to develop in you, this fight, this warrior, and when the going gets tough , you may not make it, but you come back I wanted to be one of the 1centers, not the 99%. I realized I had a life to live and I have to live it. There are not two lives, there is one life and all these things started happening to me and then once that started happening. man, everything changed, but that inside starts to build a voice in you that doesn't let you sleep in, doesn't let you take days off when you know you're behind, it just keeps you in check during everything you do. what you're doing in life because it won't allow you to fail, but if you don't work inside you'll always have that loving voice that guides you to where it's right, it's always right and if I had that, I would do it.
I've been okay with staying at 300 pounds doing what I was doing so anything you can't run you can't exercise that's why I went to school and became a doctor so I'm always constantly searching for my 100.%. Whatever it is, if I can't run anymore, I will see what else I can do. I was very proud of how I handled that when when my whole life was taken away from me and I was like 20 years old in the military and my life was being taken away and I couldn't run. I couldn't work, I couldn't do anything anymore and I didn't miss all that training.
I went through mental training. Happens. I was able to use it to find a lot of peace in myself, a lot of joy and a lot of self-actualization. I want to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, it's a foundation where 100% of the tuition goes to these kids to go to college, you know, full tuition, so I found this great foundation that I'm going to raise money for. So I say: you know what I have to Google something that is evil, something very difficult. I didn't know anything about ultramarathons. I had never even run a marathon.
I didn't know anything about this world, so I googled you know the 10 most difficult races. the world and what comes up is bad water 135 are 135 My race through Death Valley in the summer I thought it was a stage race I thought it was a race where you run like 20 miles, set up camp, you know, you have a barbecue outside and then you leave. I ran a little more the next day, so I called the race director at the race and said: Hi Chris, his name is Chris Cosman. I want to make your career, so we had a long conversation.
You know I weighed a lot more back then and I hadn't done anything. I didn't wear running shoes for over a year. I'm between 240 and 270. I'm there. I'm in that range. My weight has varied a lot across the SEAL teams and off the still team, so I was. He was a heavy guy, but in short, I had worn running shoes in over a year. He was a great weightlifter. He lifted heavy weights. That is what I did. I returned home from Iraq. I went straight to free fall school and Then this happened, so I called Chris Cman on a Wednesday and he said, Look, the only way to qualify for my race is to run 100 miles straight in 24 hours or less.
There was a race that Saturday, so 4 days later. and he said if you qualify by running 100 miles or less in 24 hours, I'll consider you my race. I'm going to the point. I signed up for this race, one day it was called San Diego and you ran about a mile. Track for 24 hours to see a lot of miles, you can achieve my goal was 100 miles, so I got to M 70 and passed 70 thousand in 12 13 hours pretty fast, but I finished, my feet were broken, I was stretching fractures, cramps in shins and muscles. They were breaking I was in bad shape I was eating delicious cookies and drinking mlex that's all I didn't have water I didn't know what the hell I was doing out there I had some tube socks It was just ridiculous It was a clown show so I sat down at mile 70 and at the time I was married and I looked at my wife and I thought, um, I'm really screwed, so I literally start turning white.
Here I am, I'm at mile 7, I think. I have 3 miles left to go I'm up I have to go to the bathroom the bathroom is like 20 feet from my support potty I can't get out of the chair so I'm peeing blood down my leg and I have 30 miles left to go Go and I can't get up because my blood pressure is altered. I've been through three hellish weeks. Ranger school overcame so many obstacles in my life. These last 30 miles of this race was when I realized I was human. Being human is not so human anymore, we have the ability to go to that space if you are willing to suffer and I mean suffer, your brain and your body, once connected, can do anything and these 30 million were the moment that made me changed life.
I had the worst pain of my entire life. I was on the verge of death and I was able to break this damn 30 miles into small pieces. I was so motivated that no, I'm not going to say CU motivated. motivation sucks, motivation comes and goes when you are driven, whatever is in front of you will be destroyed, so I sat in this chair and I was so motivated to succeed in this race and at that moment everyone was going, Did you think about the boys that died and I'm not going to lie to you I wasn't this it became something personal this became me against this race me against the children who called me against me it just became something that I took so violently personal and I broke this into small pieces I said, okay, I have to nourish myself.
I have to be able to get up before I can get off this sidewalk and get up from this chair and be able to go 30 miles, so I went through all these little steps and I was able to get on my feet and then as I got up, I was literally walking with my wife at the time. and she says you're not going to make it the moment she says, you run, I mean, you're, you're walking like 30 miles a minute I got to mile 81 and the second she said I'm not going to make the time. I ran the last 19 miles without stopping, so this was years ago.
It was literally the half dollar size I had to get. compression tape and they taped my ankles and feet and that's how I got through that race. My shins hurt so much from having stretch fractures that the only way to continue was to tape my shins so I wouldn't do the flexor movement that activates your shins, so I taped my ankles and shins and I got it because on my third week Hell, they were going to let me train again, so I literally went through all the outbreaks. my last SEAL training with leg cramps with stretch fraction and how I did it was I took my ankles up to my calf every morning so for the first hour the pain was unbearable but what happened is my feet went numb and I did it. that every day for 6 months this is how I got through my third week of hell because I was so devastated by the first two that the commander said: hey, the buddy said this, last time we sent you, this is how I came up with the idea to do it. that and people can listen to this and say this guy is sadistic, he's crazy, no, if you know how I came about, you'll realize I was just a scared kid who found drive and passion to be something much better than what he thought.
I thought it was. everything is a cookie jar it's something I've made up with all the failures in my life all the things I failed and came back failed and came back and finally succeeded all the things that kick my butt I put it all in the cookie jar CU in the moments of hell even the toughest men in times of suffering what we do is forget how tough we really are because that's what suffering is suffering is a test, that's all it is suffering is the true test of life and for the cookie jar to travel in my brain, so every time I was put in a situation where I had poop in my pants, well, it was my mentality of oh my god, life sucks.
I take a second. I make the decision for a second. I step out of my life for a moment. second, put in the cookie jar, lift up, oh, you were, you were in three h weeks and end two, one of those H weeks, a guy died because he was so bad, oh, you're my tough guy, you are. I put it back in the cookie jar and remember who I really am I'm not the kid who got that name I'm not the scared kid this is who I am It's a reminder of who you really are at the center of yourself But what I was telling myself all the time time on that track and this and this is what I tell myself, self-talk and visualization are the two keys to my success.
I thought that last time, 19 miles. I was indestructible because I sat in that chair, shit on my back, and peed bloody. my leg Shin splin stress fractures I use all that for motivation versus negativity I use it for motivation I I I thought to myself who on this Earth would still be going right now you're you have to be the toughest on the planet is that right? don't give it at that moment it took me to the finish line of that race I believed it I believe it today I believed it enough to where my body said it's not going to stop I took all the negative things I need to go to the hospital this and that, what? who the hell could even get up from that chair?
Who the hell would even think about bandaging stress fractures? You did all those things that I use as motivation and in hell week what they do in hell week CU this is where I really went to the dark side, what they do in hell week is they design hell week to find their defects and they do a very good job, there are 130 hours of continuous training, you can sleep for two hours and they beat you. of yourself and you find that everything is wrong in your mentality and then they start hell week and that's the beautiful thing about it and to me I'm not an unpleasant guy, given by God, you know, I'm not very talented at anything, which got me through horrible times was the dark side.
My name is David Goggin. I created Goggin. Goggin is the guy who can take anything you throw at him. You want to break my legs, so be it. I have a way to do it. a place like I did in that race where all the pain and suffering that was put on me in hell week I will reverse that pain and suffering and I will take your soul so that every instructor that put me through, friends, my job, what drove me . Did I want you to go home that night after you beat me up and I smiled in your face?
I wanted you to feel worse than me and go home to a nice warm bed with your wife or kids in It was a good meal and I was still out there suffering for another 100 hours. I wanted you to think about me knowing that I am comfortable being very uncomfortable and I want you to think about when you went through hell week how uncomfortable you felt. you were and how bad you wanted to stop knowing that I'm not thinking that way so the dark side is something that I have designed it's an evil place that I can go that very few things can hurt me I use the pain that you're trying to Put it on me, I put it on upside down and use it.
You try to use it for Kryptonite. No, they are pillars of power for me. I'm using it to gain strength. I simply turn the negative into a positive. That's all. He was just insecure. scared kid and the only way I could find myself was by going through the worst possible thing. My biggest advice to give to everyone in the world is like I say, we live in an external world, everything is, you have to see it, touch it, it is, it is. externally, if you can for the rest of your life, live within yourself, stop listening to everything that doesn't make sense, all these insecure people who put their insecurities on you, you have to get it out, you have to just be whoever, God or whoever. you believe in if you believe in nothing but yourself I don't care what it is you have to take it all and throw it away you have to believe in one thing and that is yourself and I'm not saying you don't believe in God or whatever you believe, but right now for you to find greatness in yourself you won't find it by looking at a book or even listening to me.
It may give you the spark, but you have to go within yourself. to find it and that means you have to be silent go to a room stop talking search your soul search your mind search your abilities and you will find it but if you are not looking for it you will not find it that waywhat do you have to go start your journey and the journey begins to find out why the hell am I here on this planet Earth why am I here if you don't know you will live the rest of your life searching always wondering why well it was nice It's crazy to For me, it took me a while to get to that point where enough was enough, but it happened that one night I came home from work spraying roaches and, long story short, I turned on the Discovery Channel and saw some guys going. through Navy SEAL training and they were going through a hell of a week and they were getting their butts beaten, you know, in and out of the water, guys ringing the bell, there was suffering and I was like 297 pounds and I had to make a change. in my life, you know, I was always low and going nowhere and I was exactly what everyone said I was going to be, which was nothing, so I had to make a change, no one was helping me, my dad made my Mom was a little irregular so she worked three jobs she went to college full time so she was never around one time this person drew me a picture and you know said we are going to kill you in my Spanish notebook Jes and I took it to my director and my director said they had spilled Niger, that was the best advice he could give me.
Long story short, I realized there was no one here to help me. I started shaving my head when I was 16 and the feeling I had. every morning I looked in the mirror it was horrible and I didn't want to feel that way anymore and what I felt was a child who was going nowhere, a child who was scared and most children will accept that and seek help but the best What happened to me no one helped me no one felt sorry for me no one looked at me and said how today they will take you in and tell everyone to stop bothering this person back then they didn't do it Careful, the KKK marched in our parades July 4, they had to stay 100 meters behind, but they marched in it.
Boy, that was this town and my mom cared about me, but my dad took our soul and she, you know, she did the best she could. To realize that I wasn't going to be a punk kid my whole life, so the only way I could change was to suffer. I had to develop calluses on my brain the same way I developed calluses on my hand, so I broke the Ginsburg Royals' record. for arm wrestling a long time ago, but I failed twice and did 67,000 pull-ups to try to break this record, so to do 4030 pull-ups I had to do 67,000 training for that and then I realized that for me to become the man I wanted be.
I saw myself as the weakest person God had ever created, but I never blamed God for anything he did to me, so I wanted to change that to be the toughest man ever created. Don't know? You had to have a right goal and my goal when I was sitting there not to go to school to be bullied to have no self esteem my goal was the only person who could change this person is me and the only way I can change is to put myself through the worst possible things a human being can endure and that will be the only way I can build this brain to handle anything that comes its way, toughen my mind through pain and suffering.
In the end, what would be your advice for that 16-year-old boy who looks in the mirror and doesn't like what he does? go but he's still running away from adversity, well my biggest advice to him is that first of all he's not going to like what I'm telling him because I'm going to say the exact opposite of what the world is saying today so let's read a There are a lot of books today, as humans we want to figure out how to be someone else, what we don't do is not go in, so literally turn inside out, read the book, it's like we're writing a book every day of our lives, but we never read that book, so what I would challenge this young man or woman to do is you have to look inside yourself to see what it is that you really want, what you are passionate about, we use these words and these little lines from Only the Strong Survive and all that other crap, they're just words.
I get so tired of hearing people talk like right now someone might think goggin is just talking you don't know me so when I talk I speak from passion. I speak from experience I speak from suffering I have to tell this young man or woman that the only way I believe this is my experience in life the only way you will get to the other side of this journey is by having to suffer to grow to grow you must suffer and some people will understand it and some people won't, but they have to see what their journey is to start their journey.
A number of people live to be a hundred and have great lives and have great kids and their kids go to college and all kinds of things, but at some point in their lives there was a point where they had to make a decision: they could go to college. left or right on this path. The left was the easy way. The right was the difficult path. A lot of people take the easy way and had a good life that way, but the better life was going the right way and you may have 20 years of pain and suffering to get through it, but many of us die without really starting our journey. and I would tell this young man that you have to start your journey, it may suck, but it will come out the other side where you are sailing every day, we are seeing who we were as people when I was a child.
I lied for people to accept me because I didn't accept myself, so I made up stories so that you would accept me in your world, everything I did was to make someone else like me, it wasn't until I started reading my own book about how I was pathetic as a human being. I can blame my dad. I can blame the kids at school. I can blame having health problems. Add my mom for not being around a great mom, but she was doing her thing. I could blame a lot of people and that's the book. I was reading and I put it off for everyone else, I wouldn't do it until I said, you know what I need to fix?
I have to read what the hell is wrong with David Goggin. No, don't blame anyone. Read my book and say, “Okay.” I'm afraid of my shadow, how can I get over that? Going into the army, getting your ass kicked, doing things you hate doing, feeling uncomfortable every day of your life. Understand that I'm not the smartest kid in the world. Okay, instead of someone saying. Oh, no, you're smart, no, no, don't tell yourself that. I told myself no, I'm a stupid mother. Okay, Roger, how do you get smarter? Educate yourself so that the things we flee from, flee from the truth that we are. running away from the truth man, so the only way I was successful was by going towards the truth, as painful and brutal as it is, it changed me, it allowed me to become who I am today in my own right, so I hope I can help the people who believe. that they are much less than they really are, help them find greatness in themselves and greatness is not running 200 miles at a time or doing 4,000 PS or being a seal, greatness is whatever you have dreamed of in your own mind.
To see it first, you must first create this Vision in your mind and then that is when I come into play. Once you create this Vision in your mind, that's how I'm going to get there now and that's when I come into play. But you first. You have to create your own vision and it is not external, it is the vision that you created is within you, so until you believe that, I am, I am nobody to you. I'm slowly writing a book right now, it's taking me four. or five years because I have so many things to talk about, it will be several, probably several books, but the first book will probably be about the story of my life, how I came about and some lessons learned along the way, but you know, I have so many.
There's a lot to talk about, a lot to say, just to give people a lot more than hope.
