He meets Ellie, a precocious teenager with a real fault. mouth being held hostage by the fireflies a revolutionary group fighting against Vedra the remains of the military who are technically a military dictatorship they also want a car to take Ellie out of town in fact, they were the ones who bought Joel's battery but the deal went bad and the drums weren't finished anyway, so it's like, hey Joel, we'll pay you to get Ellie out of here so Joel Tessinelli leaves the quarantine zone and post-apocalyptic Boston is beautiful in its own way , except of course it's infested with zombies, but they're not your usual undead zombies, this show is cool because they're made by a fungus, cordyceps, which gets into your brain and controls you, so instead of walking corpses, this show has mushroom zombies that are possibly even more disgusting. in an advanced version, a clicker because the mushrooms covered their eyes and left them blind, but they click to find you with echolocation and oh, coming at you, these things are really hard to kill and we find out that what makes Ellie so special is that she was bitten. but she hasn't become immune somehow and the fireflies hope that she is the key to a cure, but unfortunately at Firefly Outpost everyone is dead and more bad news, Tess was bitten, so a horde of zombies is coming for them, the test is left behind and oh no it's the disgusting mushroom zombie guess but he tries the lighter and the gas boom sacrifices himself to get Joel and Ellie out of there so the new plan is to get Ellie to where Joel wanted Going first to find his brother Tommy in Wyoming, they stopped. to get supplies at Bill and Frank's Place, Bill was a doomsday prepper who turned this town into a nice little compound one day, Bill met Frank and it's an amazing standalone episode, a beautiful apocalyptic love story with an ending really touching when they died in they hug, but as far as contributing to the story, Joel and Ellie take his truck, so Joel and Ellie are on a road trip and at first Joel is a real grump and says, hey kid , you're just a burden, but at least the youthful enthusiasm begins. to melt his frozen heart, he finds a book of bad puns, he reads them all the time and Joel starts to like this kid, but they get into trouble in Kansas City, they get ambushed by the Raiders, one has Joel and Ellie he has to shoot him, so now the whole city is looking for him, but these are not normal Raiders.

They're a revolutionary group that just overthrew their really bad guy Vedra, but their revolution is getting out of hand. They're also chasing this nice guy, Henry, and his younger brother, Sam, and they team up. with Joel and Ellie to sneak out of the city, but on the way out they are pinned down by a sniper. Joel takes him out, but not before calling for backup. Now that everyone is here, Henry will turn himself in to save the children, but he waits, what happens? This in any zombie story, the real monsters are humans, but don't forget there are zombies too, a huge colony was underground here, including this absolutely huge zombie covered in hard fungal scales, a swelling, it's an intense scene when our gang runs out of there.

We almost get caught at the end but we are saved by how a little boy clicks and tragically the new independent Kansas City is invaded and more bad news, Sam was bitten, oh no, Ellie tries to save him with her magic blood of course, It doesn't work that way. and attacks Henry, he reacts and shoots his zombie brother, but oh he can't stand that and this whole show is very dark at times, but life goes on and Mando and baby Yoda continue their journey, so now, after After a few months of traveling together, Joel is still in Pants in a bad mood, but he really loves this kid, they finally arrive at the successful community of survivors where Joel reunites with his brother Tommy, but it's like, hey brother, I can't stay now.

I have to get this kid with fireflies to save the world and there is a lot of emotion like Joel is worried that he won't be able to protect Ellie and Tommy will be a father, but for his contribution to the main story, Joel and Ellie get their horse, they go to a university in Colorado where the fireflies had a science laboratory, unfortunately it is abandoned. like everyone is going to Salt Lake City, but right now some Raiders show up and Joel has to kill this guy so they can escape, but unfortunately Joel got really hurt.

Joe says, hey girl, let me, but Ellie's not going to do that, she's not going to lose someone else. she loves it, we see her backstory of her at the federal academy, but her best friend was leaving to join the fireflies. Last night they had a magic at the abandoned mall where they both admitted that they like each other, but then a zombie came in and they both arrived. A little bit and it was tragic as Ellie had to kill her zombie friend and then found out she was immune so now Ellie is hunting when she runs into two guys and at first they seem nice but they are with the group that attacked the hospital in the house that you.

They will be killed, they leave and are forced to finish off Joel. Luckily, Joel has healed enough to jump on this guy and while he interrogates them he goes into beast mode. Where is Ellie? This guy tells him, but Joel kills him anyway. The other guy is like me. he was telling the truth Joe says yes I believe him and also kills this guy mercilessly so Ellie is a prisoner but the leader here David is being nice to her he really wants her to join his group it's like Hey man, why do you care so much about me? and it's like oh because he's a pedophile Ellie doesn't have that I'd rather die fighting and it turns out this guy is leaving a cannibal cult it's like okay Plan B, we'll eat you Ellie gives him pause when she reveals that she's infected and while they're considering she got out of there, she ends up trapped in the burning spit and it's a deadly game of hide-and-seek, but Ellie eventually jumps on him and makes absolutely sure this guy is completely dead by the time Joel catches up to her. quite scarred, he says, don't worry, you're safe now, girl, and as far as he's concerned, Ellie is his real daughter.

As they make the final trip to Salt Lake City, they come across something really cool, a giraffe just hanging out eating leaves, it's a post-apocalyptic Magical Moment to remind us that life goes on and even in the darkness there is light. Joel talks about how after his daughter died he tried to commit suicide and now he's like wow, I guess time heals all, boom, but he says that's how it was. The time these two saved each other is so sweet but enough, they went back to the bad puns until he looks, they get caught by the Firefly Patrol.

Joe says, hey, what happened? Where are Ellie and Marlene? Well, I have good news and bad news. Turns out Ellie's mom was infected right when she gave birth, so it looks like the cure is really going to work well, that's great, what's the bad news? The bad news is that having Ellie's cure kill her for Joel, that's absolutely unacceptable, but it's like, hey. Sorry, there's no other way, but all Joel cares about is protecting Ellie, so he lights the fireflies and frees himself. He'll do whatever it takes to save Ellie, which unfortunately in this case means shooting up a hospital full of possibly good people. guys trying to save the world and this isn't some epic action scene where Joel goes into beast mode to save Ellie's life, it's some kind of disturbing scene where Joel has turned off all emotion and ruthlessly murders everyone in the building he's in in time to stop the surgery and kill the doctor who gets Sally out of there and it's a complex and conflicting moral situation.

Joel's drive to protect Ellie has been the good thing about this entire show, but maybe this isn't the best thing for Ellie and Joel is simply doomed to the world outside of his own selfish love, Marlene, telling him that, as if in You weren't actually saving her, the world is still an apocalyptic hell, but for Joel it's not even a dilemma, he will save Ellie no matter what and kills Marlene too so Helly wakes up. Joel lies to him. tells him that the cure wasn't going to work anyway, then the Raiders came and killed all the fireflies, so this whole trip was for nothing, they return to Tommy's town to live a reasonably happy normal post-apocalyptic life, but at least like an intelligent child. and Joel's story had some holes, she says that Joel was really how it happened and Joel is not going to let Ellie feel guilty for her sins, he says yes it was and Ellie maybe knows a little bit that she is lying, but she says okay, and that's where the first
